Yeah I hear you. I was more referencing the casual vs competitive in regards to the pick up and play casual Crucible (gear and level is unweighted / even playing field / variety of game type modes) vs Iron Banner (gear and level is weighted / limited week long event / single game mode) vs competitive team based Trials of Osiris (gear and level is weighted / matchmaking is disabled / elimination style / fire team of 3 required).

While yes there is a learning curve for new players in the Crucible at least there's more of an even playing field than the two other PvP modes. It's the most casual but there can still be discrepancies per match with matchmaking being open.
Well, to some extent. There's still a pretty big mismatch in my opinion. New players aren't coming into the crucible with insta-kill shoulder charge and a number of other abilities and setups that heavily swing balance in the direction of high level characters. It's not to say new players can't still just aim straight and kill their opponents, but Destiny is so ability-centric that it's almost pointless to go into the crucible without beating the game and unlocking just about everything beforehand.

Like I said, it's not really an issue that there's a reasonable fix for, or one that needs to be fixed, it's just a bit of an annoyance when you're newly coming at a multiplayer game that people just about devote their lives to (as there are with pretty much any multiplayer shooter).

I'm probably on an island by myself here, but I'm super amped for the Destiny 2 gameplay reveal tomorrow. Also if the rumors are true of a PC-PS4 cross-save feature I'll be overjoyed. I have my doubts but that would be a big deal on my end so as to not alienate friends on both platforms. Here's hoping though.
I would be happier if it was The Division 2, but, yeah, I'll probably be curious to see the reveal.

Chrono.gg has two new mystery games marked as 'Coming Soon'. One for 3500 coins and the other at 3800 coins. Both would mark the 2nd and 3rd highest coin cost of the games they've offered so far. Here's hoping at least one is good and worth the price.
Just so everyone knows, they add new games every 2 weeks.

Regular Humble bundle games aren't normally rebundled in monthlies. Only exception I can think of is The Witness, but they compensated people for that. Highly doubt it'll be in a monthly anytime soon.
And I wouldnt even necessarily put The Witness in that category. That was in that $30 huge bundle, which itself alone rules a lot of the regular customer base out. Kind of a one off. Otherwise, yeah we haven't seen a regular HB game go monthly yet. I do think Owlboy is a strong enough title to break that trend, but it wouldnt be a headliner and probably not a great chance.

BundleStars :

Bundlefest is back! With new bundles, lower prices and favourites returning every day until Wednesday 24th May.

Which bundles do you want to see return?
Dont care about the returns, but new bundles at least have some level of interest. The fact they just launched a new killer bundle leads me to believe there will be maybe 1 consideration to buy, and the rest will be shit basically just like the last BundleFest they did in February.

I think he means if you're using a Brazillian IP or whatever. It's region locked via paypal anyway so it won't do much good unless you know someone that can buy it for you
I'm on SA, so the price was showing around $8 to me (there was a discount yesterday, around 20%)

To no one's surprise, Valve has killed CD Key Queries and it's no longer possible to check if steam key is used or not :(

Yeah, I haven't upgraded this thing at all. The card was $1000 of the build at the time of purchase (gotta love mobile prices), so I suppose it's aged pretty well and still handles just about anything I throw at it, but it can't max out anything like it used to.

I think Destiny is great that way too, but I don't think it handles casual vs competitive well at all. I didn't play the game for awhile and decided to jump back into it and was completely outmatched online. I'm nothing special at those kind of games, but I think I hold my own pretty well most of the time. The problem was that while Destiny does level things out to a decent level between old and new players regardless of gear and level, gear and level DO still matter quite a bit. Someone just starting will be completely outclassed when they pick up PvP on Destiny, there's no way around that, and that's a bit of a problem (albeit a problem that doesn't have any good solutions, since the game is an MMO in the end).

That's pretty much why I'll probably wind up getting a console version, so the players will be shittier and I'll be sure to play early on so everyone doesn't surpass me in terms of level and gear.
See I look at it the other way around. I was one of the hardcore Destiny players. Always found it a little annoying that level 5s could come in and decimate you at any point in the Crucible with no disadvantage whatsoever. Even in Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, the penalties for being underleveled or undergeared were minuscule. I grinded out nearly every one of the best guns in the game. They were all so different and so fun to play with. The game was as noob friendly as it got though. They really kept that playing field level.

That would be so cool if what Motiv mentioned earlier in that there could possibly be cross-platform play between PS4 and PC. God that would be amazing. People can say what they want about consoles but when I've played FPS online on PC there are often people using hacks and cheats which really takes away from the online multiplayer experience. Plus the community is going to be SO much bigger on Playstation which is important for finding groups, especially for obscure exotic quests. It would be very nice to migrate to PC. But the sheer amount of time I spend playing Destiny requires a couch and a controller.

I was *this* close to picking up Dead Cells until I started reading all the complaints about stutter. Everything about the game looks fantastic, like it was made specifically for someone with my interests, but stutter is a deal breaker. As much as I want to play it now, I can hold off and see if they clean things up at the cost of a couple dollars.

Also true, but that's the thing. If I'm playing a multiplayer shooter, I want a level playing field. As shitty as most CoD games are, they've always done that. Sure, newbies may not have quite as many attachments or options, but they're still just as capable as anyone else in terms of game mechanics.

While newbies are still able to succeed against long time players in Destiny, they have a boatload of disadvantages that do not create a balanced experience and level playing field. It's unavoidable for the most part because it's more or less Halo the MMO, but it's one of the things that irks me about it a bit.

I've never really known of a legitimate use for it (beyond hassling people who beat you to a key drop) so... that's fine by me, I guess. You couldn't use it to check on a game unless you already had that game activated (or else it would just activate the key being "tested") so it's application was pretty limited.

Yeah, that's fine.  I just don't think it's quite fair to say that newbies are at a disadvantage in multiplayer.  Because they really aren't.   Sure they are missing a few skills but like you said it's a level playing field.  The players intimate with the maps that only play Crucible all day would dominate me for the most part, too.  But the Crucible was as fair as could be, and it was very satisfying to go on killing streaks.

I really hope they make a solid PC version with all sorts of chat and group finder fixes.  If PC becomes the superior version then we're going to see everyone migrate over.  We'll know soon enough whether the devs have maintained a console-first approach if there's still no in-game chat.  How could they release a game like that though (on PC)?  And if there is chat and extra options on PC, how would they implement that on the consoles?  It's hard to see anything but the PC version being superior at this point.

Almost missed getting my Chrono Coins if it wasn't for seeing this last night. Thanks!

The skills are a pretty big deal (especially when you look at the numbers and see how strikers are the most widely used class, with shoulder charge being a big reason). It's not a grossly unbalanced playing field, but it definitely is weighted in old timers' direction.

I just hope they might support Ultrawide Support and don't do what Overwatch did

Shoulder charge is one of the most overrated abilities in the game. It works well mainly at low level play. Against good teams it will get you killed nearly every time. The vast majority of competitive players don't use that talent either, they use Aftershocks.

Activision / Bungie just gave Steam the middle finger.

Blizzard has a better anti-cheat so it makes sense.

Ehh, I'm not saying it's the best ability in the game or anything, but it's extremely useful, and since my entire point was that newbies (or people who don't grind and play a whole lot) are outmatched by high level players, so yeah, it works well at low level play for sure. It's the Destiny equivalent to running through a hail of bullets in CoD and knifing someone, so it's definitely not an end-all sort of thing, but it's useful in a variety of situations and there's no way around the fact that it's a straight up insta-kill in a game where that's a little hard to come by.

I guess it got nerfed and takes a little longer to trigger (I played before then), but even then I guess there's a piece of equipment that basically removes the nerf, so it's still a pretty big leap over lower levels (creating the mismatch) and viable at any level.

Battlenet for Destiny 2 is fine.  I'd be pissed if they made their own client for it, I don't want to install another one.

Damn that was quite the Destiny 2 sneak peek reveal. Looks excellent. Tons of new stuff. I'm on board and I'm looking forward to testing out the beta on my PC.

Some hardware details: PC supports ultra-wide monitors (21:9), Console is locked at 30 fps (PS4 Pro or Scorpio maybe 60 fps? No word), PC is fps unlocked and up to 4K, text chat on PC (unknown on console), FOV slider on PC (Console? No word), and no word on cross save or dedicated servers. Also the social aspects of clans and matchmaking abilities seem to make finding games and players for team based content a lot easier. Especially for more solo based players.

I would be happier if it was The Division 2, but, yeah, I'll probably be curious to see the reveal.
Last I heard Massive Entertainment is moving on to develop an Avatar (?) game. Ubisoft CEO Guillemot just mentioned The Division has 44 million unique players and currently ranks 3rd behind Rainbow Six: Siege and The Crew. Apparently the Crew is doing well surprisingly.

So I don't know where that puts the future for a Division 2 or a 2nd year season pass. If Massive takes on another project maybe another developer will take their place. Plenty of unknowns.
