nice things that will play at 15fps....all of the "gameplay" is slow as shit probably to avoid horrible frames
Me and Mooby are just as happy getting game-cucked on twitch watching a 2x 2080 SLI toaster play it in his dad's basement. Can't complain about frames when you're watching streaming video!

Hollow Knight gets better the deeper you go, especially if you enjoy the atmosphere and the challenge as it gets more difficult but I get that some people just won't like it.  I like it enough that I want to do the no-death playthrough at some point.

Also, the last Metroidvania game I played, SteamWorld Dig 2 was better than this game in every way. I know Hollow Knight is somewhat different from both those games, but I just don't see what in the game is supposed to make me want to play it.
I was a bit disappointed with SteamWorld Dig 2 (I liked the first better), but I'm having trouble putting Hollow Knight down. Part of it is that I find the platforming in Hollow Knight to be incredibly fun. I also find the exploration in Hollow Knight to be amazingly engrossing - it's why I have trouble putting the game down. I'm at the point where I stare at my map for places that I haven't been and will trek across the map just to get there.

Different strokes and all that.

I bought Hollow Knight for 10 bucks on Switch yesterday.  That's a great price on one of the games at the top of my wishlist.  Plus I can play it on handheld in bed.

I'm finishing up Dark Souls remastered right now and just biding my time until DQ11 comes out in one week.  Soooo excited for DQ11.  Really cool that its coming to Steam on day1 too.

No way would I throw $ on one 2080, nevermind TWO of them. Likely WAY over-priced, unless there's an awesome Price Mistake "Sale."

Oh man, is that really just a week away? Was really hoping I could finish FFXV before DQ11 came out but there's no way I'm going to make it. Definitely going to be amazing to play a brand new DQ game on PC. I look forward to never finishing it.

Well crap, figured I would check it out tonight and possibly buy it but now it is unavailable even though it was supposed to be on sale for 4 days. Probably for the best since I looked and apparently have Dishonored 1 and the special edition and haven't touched either of them.
Another good reason is because Dishonored 2 sucks.

Some people say you can buy now and then pay tomorrow using the coupon. Huge YMMV but maybe worth a try.
I've actually did this without planning a few weeks back. PayPal wouldn't load for whatever reason so I went to pay for it when I got home in the morning and they had released a code in the mean while. Save ten bucks. I was really happy.

I don't know how you feel about Stealth games - but Dishonored series is fantastic. It definitely has its influences from "immersive sim" games from Looking Glass and Ion Storm like Thief, System Shock, and Deus Ex, in terms of being immersed into the game-world (with Lore, AudioLogs, lots of details in the game-world everywhere, etc) and being a hybrid game by combining genres (Dishonored uses FPP/action/stealth).

Blink skill also speeds up Stealth, as you can often Teleport from spot to spot that you can see nearby - whether it's high above, a little distance out, or whatever; which really quickens the pace of the game as you can zip around all over the place...especially if you use it a lot.

Though, unlike most early Thief games, where Garrett sucks as a hand-to-hand combat warrior is only really good at stealth - in Dishonored games, you have Super-Powers (if you accept them from The Outsider when you start the game) and can be a bad-ass if you need to do hand-to-hand combat and fight/kill your way out of situations. Up to you if you want to do so, as the game's all about choice in how you take on these objectives, pretty much - though killing lots of enemies, you will get the most "Chaotic" endings if you kill more than the enemies listed in main objective enemies (only in Dishonored 1 & 2; doesn't apply to DooT).

Though, this is not the case in Death of the Outsider, though - as they removed the Chaos scoring system from actually mattering for that final game, since that one is a total revenge story - even though you can still look at your stats for the level & final overall game (it just don't matter in this game, in tallying up for what ending you receive). DooT has the ending matter, depending on your decisions in the final mission.

If you do killing type of play-throughs in these games, they can be fun - as you can really experiment w/ sandbox-y levels and your Powers to chain all kinds of crazy attacks, kills, and combo's. Combat's a blast here, if you choose to play that way.

Action is broad and can mean anything.  Immersive sim is broad, pretentious, and redundant.  A sim is immersive by definition and anything is technically an "immersive sim."  This is just dev talk trying to sound fancy.

Pizza can mean anything with bread, sauce, and cheese.  Eating pizza is by definition, immersive.  Adding toppings such as pineapple is California talk for trying to make it sound fancy.

As far as I'm concerned, a martini is a one and only thing. Drinks such as appletini, chocolatini and so forth should not be things. At least not named as such.

Sex offender is such a broad and meaningless term. It could mean anything from high school coaches giving mandatory genital checks to their players to accidentally losing your swim trunks at the public pool. It's just police talk for making people sound perverted.

Does anyone here have a spare (or two) copy of Conan Exiles they are looking to sell? Not having any luck with the trade thread.

I am kicking myself for not picking it up off tremor when I had the chance. I didn't pull the trigger because I thought I wouldn't know anyone else who played. Turns out my brother got it and wants me and our other brother to play with him.

If not here, where else might have the best deal on it?

Thanks all.

Well I did it.  I finally pulled the trigger on buying a GPU.   I've been scouring Ebay for weeks looking for the right deal and it has been difficult.  90%+ of them are used mining cards, and you gotta be quick when you find a decent one that isn't.   Especially on coupon day. There are scam listings from compromised accounts constantly too.  But I got one of the versions I wanted.   I bought a used EVGA 1080 FTW edition from some kid in Tennessee for $295.  I could probably sell it for 150-200 in a couple years if I decide to go with something different.

No more slumming it.

What will I do without your daily GPU blog posts?!?!?

Also, I doubt you'd be able to sell a 5+ year old 1080 for $150 in 2020. Card would be well off it's warranty date and a huge risk to anyone buying it.

Have you seen what 780s are going for this year?

Nope. Still surprises me, though. You could pay someone $200 on the gray market for a card out-of-warranty and are SOL if it doesn't work. At that point I'd rather buy a newer card that I could still get replaced even if I had to pay a bit more and/or it has slightly worse specs.

My 770 died after about four years of what I'd call 'moderate' use.

No, if you bought on Ebay you get your money back for the seller selling something 'not as described'. They also pay the return shipping if they want it back. There really aren't any risks as a buyer; just that your money might be tied up for a few days.

Craigslist is the real liability.

Can be. I took a bit of a risk buying one on craigslist this spring, though he shared his (public-facing and corporate) place of employment, which at least put some risk on him. It was also for a brand where the warranty goes with the physical card, not the owner. So that helped.

Even with Ebay having protections, I avoided it when looking for a card. I spent time looking on trade forums and /hardwareswap. (Anandtech's trade forum was a shadow of what it used to be, but /hardwareswap reminded me of what Anandtech's forum used to be. Good moderation.)

But what if it breaks like... three weeks afterwards? Or three months? Surely there is a cut-off to e-bay's warranty.
Sure. Problem with a used card from anywhere. And despite the complaints about mining cards, I'd be more worried about a card overclocked and heavily gamed on.

That said, a fan or fans going out is likely the most common issue to worry about, and that's fixable.

My main issue with the scenario is why pay $295 for a used card when you could get a new one with full warranty for $350? That part doesn't make sense to me. I'd rather pay the extra to have the piece of mind. Plus, there's still the slight chance EVGA puts the 1080s on fire sale (limited units) like they did the 980. Most everyone missed out on those, but they did have a few for $200 when the 980s were being phased out and this was during the mining craze.

So - with my brand spanking new Vega 64 that I bought used off eBay running OK, I got a deal on one of the AMD game bundles off ebay.  But trying to redeem the code, the AMD rewards site is saying it doesn't recognize that I have one of the appropriate cards:  AMD Radeon RX Vega,

AMD Radeon RX 580, or AMD Radeon RX 570.  I contacted AMD support about the issue and provided screenshots of my AMD Radeon Settings with the Vega and my device manager showing the card as well.  They are asking me for a receipt for the purchase of the card and a copy or scan of the voucher.  I don't know if the receipt for the card off eBay used will qualify me, and the guy I bought the voucher from only has codes, and not a voucher to scan.

So I'm looking for help from someone with one of the required GPUs OR someone interested in buying the code from me.  Send me a PM if you can help.

Alternatively, if there is anyone with any knowledge of why my GPU isn't being detected and how to fix this - let me know.

Thanks!

PM me bro.

"Immersive sim" is one of the stupidest and meaningless genre names ever. It's essentially "First person game where you do stuff".
As redundant as that title is and as not-that-descriptive as it is, the thing is this: people automatically know that it's mostly Looking Glass, Ion Storm, and Arkane Studios' games.

I assure you that this isn't even a little bit true. Some minor subset of gamers perhaps. Everyone else just shrugs.

I guess that's AMD drivers, Catalyst Control, and whatnot at their finest.

All jokes aside though - that really sucks that the card couldn't recognize your card. Hope you can get matters straightened-out and all.
