 :whistle2:$ :hot:
Watched The Purge TV Series: S1E1 on USA last night.

VERY disappointed. And I actually liked the movies. The cast, acting, writing, and dialogue was (for the most part) quite "Meh." Tons of set-up for most of the episode, but not much Purging til near the end of the episode. It doesn't get good until near the end, TBH.

Hopefully, this can turn around for the rest of the season...b/c that episode last night was "meh."

Wait, people watch TV? I thought the whole point was just to hoard as many channels as you could.

I DVRed it just because... I've not seen any of the movies. Anyhow, if it gets good reviews I'll likely watch it. If it doesn't I'll just delete it.

Not surprised that the first episode was slow... I figured the first episode would be mostly setup for the rest of the season.

Well, that's cool, but now I feel like a jackass for overpaying for those Doctor Who tables in that other, nowhere-near-as-good pinball game.
Only one of those was a Bally table so the other one will still not be available outside of Pinball Arcade (and can still be bought now) and who knows when the Bally one will show up in or if it will.

That said, I am glad I chose not to pick up any of the packs at full price before they were removed.

I think that's something I never picked up, even when they were commonly available.
I only had one because of my All-in-Wonder.

It was surprisingly nice having an easy way to watch TV/listen to the radio on the computer back in the day.

I remember the software ATI included allowed you to set the desktop to live TV. So cool.

My pc was also my tv in my room for most of college because of either an all in wonder or a tv tuner

Just finished the Single Player Campaign up for Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017) [PC/Origin].

Took about 10 hours, in total. It was very good.

Pretty much: all killer and lots of action, but no real filler. While the story & character development isn't always spectacular, since this is a DICE game - the Iden stuff (your lead character, voiced by Janina Gavankar, who steals the show, by the way) is actually good.

The problem is....a lot of the fan service. It's a double-edged sword - or double-edged lightsaber, in some cases - as the fan service stuff is often (of playing other characters) is good fun, awesome, and ties right into Iden's journey - but it doesn't really expand much on these characters. It does, however, give more gameplay & variety to the game and all, which is great. You will play as Legendary characters, use iconic vehicles, and partake in different types of combat - and this stuff is a blast; all of it. Star Wars fans will really love the fan service and gameplay stuff, which is given to them.

The game on mostly Medium at 1080p with 60fps at almost all times here runs great, looks great, and plays great. Can't really complain about this stuff. DICE with Frostbite again delivers the technical performance and technical graphics quality goods here, as usual. When it comes to action, shooting, combat, vehicle-driving, and graphics quality - it's just really hard to top what DICE's Frostbite can often output; and it shows here plenty in Battlefront II (2017).

You know, it's really a shame a Campaign like this will probably get overlooked b/c of the horrible launch issues from the Grind-fest of a P2W MP that the game originally launched with. When cheap enough, if you have no interest in the MP - get this game for the SP Campaign. Get it cheap, if you're only in for the SP b/c...for most, it'll take 5-10 hours to get through the campaign (depending on your skill as a player, difficulty chosen, and also how often you run into poorly placed auto-saves not helping matters).

If you have interest in the MP...well, when I tackle the MP (Multiplayer), I'll speak on it, let you all know if it's worthwhile...or not.

Bally/Williams tables in Pinball FX3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8jF4Zff5jE
If their versions play better than the pinball arcade (a company that so called specialized in real world tables) it might be time to hang my hat up on TPA. Still haven't ever played FX2 or FX3 but this will change now

I'm really intrigued to see what THQ Nordic does w/ Amular IP and especially Copernicus MMO.

Would be cool to see them do a KOA: Reckoning Remaster w/ hopefully more diffiuculty settings added and anything else they can think of to improve the game.

Let's just save you some time on worrying about this one and say it won't have an offline mode

Or developers can quit catering to consoles with the endless stream of remasters(now supports 1080p at 30 FPS!) and try a new IP.

THQ Nordic's been better than Deep Silver. I wish they had gotten the Saints Row license, as that would have made a fixed/enhanced version of Saints Row 2 more likely. Saints Row 2 is an excellent game weighed down considerably by a terrible PC port. Square Enix remasters have not been free, and the results have been mixed. Deus Ex Human Revolution's remaster has been plagued with issues, but Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition is definitely better than the original, with major increases to NPC density, new environmental effects, 64-bit support, and better DLC integration.

I finally bought Battlefield 1 on Sunday and have been playing that for 1-2 hours the last several days.  It's pretty fun.

I'm also downloading the Battlefield V demo right now to try it out.  It runs Sept. 6 to Sept 11.

BF1 is awesome.

The SP campaign, despite its brevity, is surprisingly good and makes sense to do it in a "short series" style (since DICE ain't that great at dialogue, writing, and narrative).

And the MP is flat-out outstanding.

Can't go wrong w/ that one.

Don't forget - the season pass is being given away free starting 9/11 iirc.

Well, I really hated the SP Campaign of BF2. Played it on PS4 Pro, looked fantastic, a lot of fan service, but gameplay was repetitive as hell, uninspired and limited, wave after wave of stupid enemies. I was hoping for a good campaign and it let me down so much that I sold the game short after I played a little MP (I dont play MP usually and found it really fun).

Agree with all that. The story pre-TLJ update was alright until the very end when it got SUPER interesting. Post-update, however, it just baited stuff and let it all down kinda like TLJ did to TFA.

Yeah I can't believe that they're giving away Overwatch in the next Humble Monthly.  It's a pretty awesome game, for all you cheapos out there who never bought it.  It's especially fun with friends, and on voice chat.

Last month's monthly turned out pretty good too.

*shrug*

Its a 2 year old game that has been 15-20$ before. Its pretty believable, thats exactly the sort of stuff that headlines monthlies

Scamalur has fun-ish combat but the world design is beyond horrible. It's like a really awful single player version of vanilla World of Warcraft. The zones are empty and boring. The 'dungeons' are utterly generic. If the only thing nu-THQ uses are the engine and assets I guess that's fine but there needs to be some massive rework done in terms of character building, itemization, and level design for any of those assets to be put to meaningful use.

Like 3 minutes into Kona... invisible wall...

Worst game ever.
