Just a little.

BL2 burnout not only killed my interest in Borderlands, it killed my interest in loot-based games entirely. Six years later and I still want nothing to do with The Division, Destiny, Warframe, Path of Exile, etc.
I don't mind loot games overall (rather like TheDivision) but the UI in the Borderlands games has always annoyed me. There are other minor factors but every time I've started up all 3 of them, usually to play with friends I remember why I hate the games' UI and how often you are swapping out weapons and comparing them.

The shitty skin bundles ruin the price of the Handsome Collection. Anyway, I'll just wait for Borderplands 3 in 2019 or whatever.
Buying the bundle with all the skins was still cheaper than buying the fucking Pre-Sequel Season Pass on its own DURING A STEAM SALE BECAUSE 2K fuckING REFUSES TO LOWER THE PRICE ON IT, so meh. Plus I got that Pre-Sequel DLC that isn't on the Season Pass, too.

That too. But mostly looking fabulous.

I can't wait to see where 2K takes the Borderlands series in the future now that they've got years of experience with predatory microtransactions and scummy loot box practices under their belt. I expect nothing less than a revolutionary way to screw over customers.

Why did you skip the Underground series? Those two games are my favorites and two of the best.. and wtf is Black Box? Do you mean the superior original Most Wanted, the one that came out in 2005?

As good as Foriza Horizon 3 is, I miss the linear racers like Burnout 3 or Burnout Revenge. I want another arcade racer like that without all of the open world shit tacked on, but they don't make them like that anymore.
I almost never drive to the next race anymore in FH3. I just fast travel. Granted, you have to make it into the game a bit before that becomes a real option.

Steam's first uncensored adult game has been approved

With the new sexual content filters in place, Steam's new policies have apparently taken effect.

Back in June, Valve announced that it was no longer going to police what could and couldn't appear on Steam, removing games only if they were illegal or "straight-up trolling." This, we speculated, meant that Valve would be ending its rule disallowing "pornography," and that appears to be the case.

After adding new filtering tools which allow users to opt into seeing "Nudity or Sexual Content" and "Adult Only Sexual Content" on the Steam store (those are two separate categories), Valve has approved Negligee: Love Stories for release this Friday, a game which was previously held up while those tools were being developed.

...

If "Nudity or Sexual Content" and "Adult Only Sexual Content" are among your interests, the option to see games tagged as such in the Steam Store can be selected in the 'Store Preferences' menu, which is reached by clicking your display name in the upper-right hand corner of the client. If you're a parent who doesn't want those tags visible, you may be best off not only keeping those boxes unchecked, but entirely blocking access to the Steam Store under the 'Family' tab in the main Steam settings.
What would Motoki say about this?

Mark Antoon, president of adult games distributor Nutaku, criticized Valve for allowing House Party onto Steam, saying that Nutaku's team rejected the game for violating its rules by depicting blackmail. Negligee itself contains "pressured sexual relationships" and "themes related to abusive marriages" according to its developer's description
Can't wait for Mind Control Raping My Mom and Blackmail Seducing My Sister to finally get on Steam

Fiber from the local electrical coop is being buried two houses down from me and working this way.  Soon I will be able to tell Cox to FOAD and never deal with them again.  I pay $74.99 for 100 Mbps with a 1TB data cap, no faster speed available from Cox at my house and they want another $49.99 if you want unlimited data.

When I have the new fiber service I'll pay $79.99 for 1000 Mpbs and no data cap.  Gee I wonder if that is worth $5.00 more.  They also offer basically the same service I get from Cox but without a cap for a little under $50.  Just so glad a local company decided to compete.

Just imagine how many porn games I will be able to download per day on Steam!

I for one look forward to some games being released not needing 18+ passes to be on Steam. Those Dharker Studio games (which I believe Negligee is) are always kind of average overall. I just hope Mangagamer gets more of their stuff approved.

Battlefield 4's Premium Pass is also free. All in all, Battlefield is a much better value on PC than Call of Duty on PC, where 10 year old games cost 10 bucks, map packs cost even more than the base games, and PC multiplayer features are extremely inconsistent.

its absolutely wonderful. I have no idea how much data I use a month... You know why? Google doesn't even track it.

Reviews seem to be quite mixed for Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Eidos Montreal applies its signature gameplay touches to Tomb Raider, making for the series's most satisfying balance of combat, exploration, and puzzle solving. Unfortunately these mechanical successes are let down by a journey that fails to deliver a compelling study of Lara's personal shadows.

Which review was that from?

EDIT:

Nevermind, it was PCGamesN:

Also, GameSpot's review was a 6.0 (of 10) and had a lot of issues w/ the game: the AI, the stealth mechanics, Lara's character "evolution", and other complaints - https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/shadow-of-the-tomb-raider-review-guerilla-girl/1900-6416982/

but is it immersive as a simulation of someone with personal shadows?
Let's also keep in mind, Crystal Dynamics developed TR 2013 (Reboot) & Rise of the TR - and those were great. I could see some preferring TR 2013 (b/c it was fresh and new), but I preferred Rise of the TR (it just felt way more polished in other things like story, plot, and character stuff & also w/ side-questing, which I didn't think was as good in TR 2013).

Eidos Montreal was a support studio for Rise of the TR, BTW. They now are the lead studio here in Shadow of the TR. I'm not sure if that's a great thing b/c the best stuff they've done, TBH, has been basically Deus Ex related (i.e. Deus Ex: HR). Deus Ex: MD could've been great....if Squeenix actually let them finish the damn game's storyline threads and main arc - which felt like a mess with no real finish here, TBH. Thief 2014 was good as a game IMHO, but....its story and character stuff was all over the place and often felt like a total mess unfortunately. From some reviews on Shadow of the TR, looks like more of those story & character issues from reviewers.

Of course, only time will tell once the game drops and I get my hands on Shadow of the TR...which probably won't be til it gets cheaper.

Meh. I just found the one obnoxiously amusing for saying the game play was mechanically great but it wasn't 2deep4u enough in exploring Lara's psyche. I can't say I really give a shit about game reviews generally anyway.

It's the whole thing where game reviewers desperately want the validation of games being "art". Being fun and mechanically sound isn't good enough -- it has to have some deep message or some shit. It was the same nonsense with Far Cry 5. Not enough that it ran well and had a ton of stuff to do and was, well, more Far Cry except with extra Far Cry. Oh, no, it didn't do a good enough job of exploring the political dynamics of modern rural America and the intersection of religion and gun culture so it must not be a good game.

Always interesting to see opinions, IMHO.

One reviewer might love the game, another is "meh" about it.

Funny part was GameSpot felt different about gameplay - complaining about platforming (the usual typical issues w/ inaccurate locking on and jumping found in these 3D platforming games like AC series and TR Reboot series), the combat not improving much, and the stealth gameplay & AI wasn't that great.

Problem often is this w/ these games: if not much changes at all or for the better by a few iterations into the series, it can feel tired and/or boring by some point. A lot of flaws can be really exposed, by say the 3rd go around or so...when the game begins to not feel that fresh and new anymore. AC series really felt tired and had issues, by the time AC: Revelations rolled around - where new missions/features weren't that great by any means and it felt like too much of the same. Batman: AO also felt too similar to Batman: AC...and didn't have the original dev (Rocksteady) behind it. Wouldn't surprise me if Shadow of the TR does unfortunately suffer this same fate.

I don't know where it'll land for me, but Crystal Dynamics not being involved w/ Shadow of the TR here does worry me. They did quite well w/ the older TR's they did (TR Legend, TR Anniversary, and TR Underworld) and really struck gaming gold with TR 2013 and Rise of the TR - and for them to not lead here on SotTR doesn't really help things for me. Throw into matters that Eidos Montreal seems to only strike real gold w/ Deus Ex games and...I dunno what to make of all this.

I'll have to wait and see with Shadow of the TR - likely, of course, when it gets cheaper.

Another day so another quickie Steam review. This one is for Mana Collect.

Time played: 10 minutes enough to get through 2 levels and the tutorial.

Gameplay/Fun Factor: This one has you playing an anime person walking around a field where you see numbers indicating that the how many mines are next to where you're standing. You mark where the mines are and look for more eventually clearing an area a certain amount of times to end a level. Eventually there is boss battles where you go one on one with someone else and do the same thing, but you can use skills to mess with them and attack them to finish them off. Pretty simple overall, and a little bit confusing sometimes for where mines are. If you miss on where the mine is you stop and lose your combo. The controls can get confusing on keyboard, but there is not as many of them.

Honestly it really was just an OK game. The story mode is likely not super long, but I was already feeling the repetitive nature of the game. I generally like Minesweeper clones, but this one is a bit chaotic. 6/10

Story: It's nonsense honestly. What I played had someone get orders from a guild and explore stuff for no reason really. 4/10

Graphics:This one has cute anime graphics with tiny characters and generally nice character portraits and levels. What's not good is the tiny window for it. It still looks OK enough. 6.5/10

Sound: This one has really repetitive music, although it isn't terrible. There are also noises for what you do on the field like marking squares and collecting them. It's all really basic overall. 5/10

Overall I feel you could do better with Minesweeper clones in general. I also feel like it's just a bland average game at best. I wouldn't recommend unless you really have nothing else to play.

TR 2013 tried to delve deep into making Lara Croft a very interesting character from the jump with the "art" thing, beating the hell out of her for the first few hours and making her a young, fragile and vulnerable character for us to sympathize with...and then turned her too quickly IMHO into a bad-ass, stone cold killer going around and killing everyone & anyone.

I think they moved too quickly from her killing animals and deer in the wild on the island to then sneaking up on humans & wiping them out. Too quick on the "sink or swim", I guess - it was jarring, but I thought it was one of the better attempts at trying to do something like this and actually making it work in an action game. A lot of games...wouldn't even try to do this sort of thing, especially in the AAA space.

But, really - I think TR 2013 excelled not in the story & character stuff (eh, I think critics overrated this stuff in TR 2013 honestly), but more so in trying to do so many different gameplay things and making them work in one new cohesive package for this series; especially since it felt so fresh & new at the time. The open-world gameplay and platforming here was fantastic.

Rise of the TR just seemed like it refined & improved a lot of the story and gameplay stuff so much to me and especially on the side-questing, that I felt it was a fantastic package. Kudos to Crystal Dynamics, on these two games.

I haven't played Far Cry 5...so, I really can't speak on it. I did like Far Cry 3 a ton (awesome game - but wasn't fond of Jason Brody at all as a character) and also felt Far Cry 4 was basically "more of the same" so I haven't finished that one either.

Tomb Raider should absolutely get slogged if it's not a deep investigation of Lara Croft's psyche and personal motivations and the context of vengeance in modern society, those types of things are expected in today's games.

For example everybody knows the Borderlands series has only been successful due to its brilliant satire of gun culture in America, not for being a fun loot n' shoot.

Hope all goes well w/ the rest of your PC buying b/c especially w/ that 1080, looks like you're off to a great start there!
Thanks. I've just been buying about one piece per month when I find something during a good flash sale. Deals hunting and building piece-by-piece has been fun. Each new part has taken my build in a new, unexpected direction. It's a rarity that the new 9th gen Intel processors will work with the current Z370 mobos, which is cool.

Eh, I don't think it's the #1 thing that I really look for in a Lara Croft game. It certainly could help, though - if they ain't really changed enough else on the gameplay side of things with Shadow. Only time will tell, when I get around to Shadow...and when it gets cheaper.

When gameplay doesn't improve enough to suit you - eh, you have to start looking for other things that need to be improved. If those other things don't - eh, it's "more of the same." Whether you want "more of the same" or something more than "more of the same", that also could be another story entirely.

Borderlands series though probably could use improvements in story, characters, and whatnot...since with 3 games already (BL: GOTY, BL2 Complete, and BL: TPS), have they really changed the formula much? Sure, BL2 improved quite a bit on that stuff over BL1 - but, it still ain't gonna win awards for any of that stuff. And they haven't really fixed the main issues w/ the series, have they? That UI is still atrocious, BTW. It's also not like questing has gotten deeper, choices, or anything more than "Kill X", "Find Y", "Go To B" area either. I still love the series' art-style, performance (those games always ran great) and humor though (it always is a barrel of laughs and good fun there) - it's just after two (HUGE) games, I did get burnt out w/ the series.

Well that's your opinion, but most people don't play games to have fun, they play them to immerse themselves in psychological profiles, symbolism, and political statements. I mean duh

Why do you think God of War did so well? It was a commentary on how geriatric progression is viewed in modern society and the constraints of diminishing physical return, in tandem with investigating the philosophical concept of dualism. It's so obvious

I think it depends on the game and what it aims for, on if it needs symbolism, political statements, and things of the sort. I wouldn't expect that stuff in say Doom (dammit, just give me demons to kill in tons of ways and lots of action) - but I so would expect something like all of that stuff in a deep Irrational-developed Bioshock game.

God of War series ain't on the PC, which is a shame, so...eh, I wouldn't know first hand what makes a GoW series. I'd say it's probably awesome action & boss battles, given what I know about the series.
