Anyone tried mixing wired and wireless gamepads? I have 2 x360 wired game pads, and I'm thinking about grabbing this Logitech...

Really. I'm all of 2' from my computer, I'd rather have a wired controller and not have to worry about batteries/chargers, etc.
I usually agree (though I love the DS3). The only other idiot-poof wireless solution is the official 360 wireless + receiver combo which isn't cheap (and the knockoffs are hit-or-miss). If I was recommending a wireless solution to someone, the F710 would be it.

Yes, works fine for me with my DS3 (bluetooth) and F510 (wired).

I actually went with the F710 since my current controller is a MadCatz knock-off and the price seemed acceptable to me on your recommendation for the features/quality.  I was just lamenting as so many things are wireless these days which isn't a value-added proposition for me and really just winds up being a (slight) detraction between batteries/charging and the chance for signal interference.  Neither is a huge deal, it's just that I wish more companies kept a wired option.

Plus I bought everyone else in the house Easter presents today so here comes Peter Cottontail, hoppin' down the bunny trail... :D/

If you're looking for a nice wireless hassle-free controller, the Logitech F710 is on sale at Frys and Amazon for $30 (lowest price ever by $5, afik)

It supports Xinput (360) and DirectInput (for games pre-360) with a flip of a switch. It's the one Steam uses in the BigPicture promo images.

I own the (discontinued) wired version (F510) and it's quite solid with a nice sculpted grip and stiffer sticks and triggers than the DS3. Stick stiffness is similar to DualShock 2 (PS2).

Edit: I'd also add it has two neat features... one button swaps the D-Pad and Left-Stick inputs. Another button controls rumble level (full/mid/weak/off).
I wonder if they're discontinuing the 710 too (not on BB's website, if it ever was). I like the F310, its very solid, the shoulder buttons are a little different but got used to them, and it is nice having the X and D input all in one.

I'm not sure if this was confirmed, speculation, or maybe even common knowledge; is XB1's controller being prepared for use on PC along with being BC for 360 controller games?

The scuttlebutt about the xb1 controller is that they are going to set it up for pc use but it's many months away, as they have higher priorities.

For those of you avoiding Retro City Rampage because of possible bundling, the dev said on Reddit that he has no plans to bundle it (or to port it to Mac or Linux).

Take that for what it's worth, but I picked it up.
"FYI for those down voting my response, I'm the developer. I'm confirming that it's not planned for being in a bundle again after next week's humble. Thanks for the down votes on my official confirmation. Good work!"

Side note, why are so many devs so damn rudely snarky?

Agreed.

Though, I'd love to see a X360-type of controller on the PC that has the capabilities to allow for being wired into my PC (via USB) or go straight-up wireless.

Why can't I have best of both worlds? ;)

Oh - and also support DInput and XInput.

Pretty damn cool that the 710 supports both.

Ashes, is the Dpad on the newer Logitechs any good? I still use a Rumblepad 2 and its D pad is not the best. I need a new/extra controller.
The F510 and RumblePad 2 D-Pad are virtually the same (I own both), I assume the F710 is identical to the F510. I do prefer the d-pad on my DS3/DS2. Honestly I've never found a d-pad I've loved (going back to FamiCom/NES).

Unlikely. Yes, it's a solid versatile controller (and I like the DirectInput option). I really like my F510 (F310+rumble).

At some point, likely. But when will PC games actually support it? I wouldn't let that influence one's purchasing decisions at this point.

Kick him in the nuts! Twice! Once for claiming no-bundle. Once for no Mac/Lin (WINEskins or the sort reputedly work fine). I wouldn't trust him anyway. He has has financial incentive to lie about it.

AFIK, the F710 doesn't have a wired mode. However the DualShock 3 supports wired+wireless and Xinput (360) and DirectInput (pre-360) with BetterDS3.

Bah! The D-pad rotational wobble is so annoying. I want to try a Wii U pro controller for the supposed best D-pad, but that doesn't have analog triggers (like the RP2 I have now).

I Hate to say this against the guy, cause I enjoyed RCR and followed it since it was Grand Theftendo. But he adamantly stated he'd never port it to 3DS, or that he had "no plans", but sure enough, its on the 3DS now. He seems very flip floppy, and that snarky tone, well he's always kind of had.

Yeah. That's where I get my codes from.

You probably should wait few days, since promo was added to newer GPUs so more sellers have. (Sellers are system builders and tend to have tons of codes)

From my experince, it's better to go with buy it now rather than auctions as auctions tend to go for more.

Good to know, I'll have to keep my eyes out for one.  Murdered: Soul Suspect looks interesting and I'm sure I can find something else to go with it.

Played Tropico 4 demo yesterday. It was really fun! Conclusion: I should play Tropico 3 from my backlog... Downloading it now

Tropico 3 is awful, easily the worst of the series. Here are some equally awful scraps.

Yeah, I'll be on the look out for one too. So far I don't see any listed, but I think all the old ones are sold so we just have to wait for the new ones to get put up once the system builders start having some available.

And is almost the same as 4. AND I liked T4. I've never played any tropico game. Until the demo yesterday
I think its a love/hate thing. I liked t3, though never fully completed it because 4 came out and had a discount when I was working on 3. T4 is one of the few games I completely finished though and actually liked. Already did the pre-order on T5 since the latin american price for a 4pack brought it down to like 13 in the resale thread. Seemed good enough to me for a game I know Ill play

I'm assuming Nintendo courted him. He actually made a special version of the game for the 3DS (hence why it's called Retro City Rampage DX).

But yeah, he's always been snarky. Considering what he said, RCR showing up in a bundle on Thursday or next Tuesday is unlikely due to the shitstorm it would cause. But in a month or so? Definitely possible. I'm gonna bite, I can always gift the key/Humble link to my younger brother.

I bought an AMD Radeon gold promo card from eBay ages ago when they had Thief as a pre order and Saints Row IV as a free game, but I had all of the other games, and somebody said that maybe Battlefield 4 was getting added soon... so I waited... and waited.... and then Saints Row IV went away, so I only wanted one game. Screw that, I waited more... and longer... and a little more, until finally....

AMD Radeon updated their promo card goodies today!

So I signed up, entered all of my details, got a conformation e-mail with a code, signed in, signed up and entered my code...

Which expired at the end of last year.

Ended buying T4 collector's. Was a bit cheaper after funBux. You can thank me later for it being bundled, but it is a game I'll play right away. Really enjoyed the demo and everybody says it's more polished than T3... and easier, and that is a + for me. Modern times look really good too!

Also, If it gets bundled with all the DLCs, it will be in IG (I try to avoid IG) or bundlestars, at almost the same price and with games I already own/don't want.

I must said the last time I had this kind of enjoyment with a city Sim, was with SC2000 (T4 is my first tropico game)

I'm pretty tempted by the new Indie Gala Monday bundle - even though the only thing I am interested in/don't already have is Scourge: Outbreak.
