Anyone playing Hearthstone? Spending time between Hearthstone, Civ V, and Dota 2 is not helping my growing Steam backlog.

Anyway, my Battletag is Voken#1125 if anyone wants to add me for 1 on 1. (or Diablo 3)

There's a couple of threads right now for Hearthstone and D3 on BGCQ where people are exchanging Blizzard IDs. Flow made a D3 clan too. I have been bestowed the rank of Gorilla Diaper.

I am also a gorilla diaper

Though I think Dragon Slayer would be more fitting.

Ah, thanks. Haven't been checking that group for awhile.

Wooooo finally got a foil after months of not receiving any.  It's actually a decent 1 too from the Giana Sister's deal yesterday.

Okay since I just spent the last 10 minutes trying to do this unsuccessfully, I am guessing there is no way to add a friend to your battle.net account via the web?

Blizzard is so 1990s with their connectivity and social features.

Or even from the new Battle.net client, afik.... I had to go into D3 to add peeps.

Edit: I'm also happy they finally caved and added another way to person-friend (as opposed to game-toon friend) people without going the Real-ID route.

It took forever, but Steam keys for Holy Avatar vs. Maidens of the Dead are finally up on Desura.
I still have no idea how to get double Steam keys on purpose but ended up with two anyway (one on the Groupees bundle page and one on Desura) so if anyone needs a copy of Maidens send me a PM.

Edited: KEY IS GONE.

You both look very festive. There's got to be a connection.
Are you some kind of holidayist? All holidays look the same to you?

Can you not see that Ashes is decked out in Christmas gear (and weather), while Moobs is dressed for la Dia de los Muertos?

I thought he was dressed up for "Nacional Humilde Paquete Día del Jinx"

Following up on Rust . . .

I wonder if part of the brutal newbie curve can be alleviated by populating the rest of the map and thus spreading people out. Keeping most of the old civilization structures (radioactive factories and stuff where you find the best loot) in the center to give people a reason to congregate and potentially fight over the treasures there but making it also practical to live in the hinterlands and scratch out a life there. Perhaps adding some scattered buildings with useful but less desirable loot than the center complexes hold.
Maybe they should go to the EVE Online system. Safe zone where you start, security provided by the military, but somewhat limited resources. As you move further away, there is less, and then no security in the free-for-all areas, but this is where you find the better loot/resources/artifacts.

Bizarre. I guess there's a Devolve Digital Double Debut presented by Humble Bundle going on right now. It just started today, but there's no link to get to this from Humble's own website at the moment (not that I could find anyway). It's a combination of films and games. I don't really understand this bundle myself...

Besides silly stuff like all animals dropping "raw chicken breast" there's tremendous swaths of the geography populated with nothing. Roam too far from the core area and you can easily get lost in a vast wasteland of dirt, mountains and trees with no animals, resource nodes, buildings, etc. And good luck finding your way back home before you starve with no in-game map or compass. When this happened to me, I finally realized it made more sense to suicide and start over than waste the hours trudging across nothingness and praying to relocate "civilization".

I had a similar moment in Minecraft. It was a bit different in that my death caused me to lose my way, but I was basically spawned in a crappy island that was tiny with nothing even remotely close by. I lived there for a bit before realizing this particular play through would be pretty boring if I didn't find somewhere else so I "swam" for about 10 minutes of nothingness and came a cross a wonderful plot of land nestled in between two mountain peaks. I spent a few hours building my home atop one of the peaks before getting distracted and forgetting to run inside as night time came. I was ambushed and killed and since I hadn't set my new home as my starting place I was sent all the way back to my crappy island. I've been playing for hours since and haven't been able to find my way back to those mountains :(

I put about 25 hours into [Rogue Legacy] and beat it, and I didn't feel it was worth it.
See... I would have stopped at 12 hours and called it a win, then moved on.

Rei's Minimap is your friend!

You know, I've never modded Minecraft. I really should. I want guns. And maps.

I was wondering the same thing. I always though Starbound was from the makers of Terraria but maybe I was wrong.
Starbound has one of the original pixel artists that worked on Terraria. That's all I know.

Edge of Space has been in development for some time now. It's been around since before Starbound was released. I remember following the progress of it even before Starbound came out on Steam.

And the Terraria content is official with the assistance and blessing of Terraria's developer.

I really think just populating the map would work wonders. Here's a copy of the map. The green rectangle shows the "viable" areas -- places with resource nodes, animals, loot buildings, etc. For scale, the pink dot is a warehouse/hanger thingie with a couple semi trailers inside.

Everything outside that zone is... nothing. There's trees you can bang on for wood but that's it. No ore, no wood piles, no animals to hunt, nothing to explore. Again, it's Alpha so I'm sure this will change but right now about 70%+ of the landmass is wasteland with literally nothing in it to support you. Once they give you something to hunt and materials to build with, it could be a lot easier. Or they'll jack the servers up to 500 people each and it'll be just as crowded... who knows.

This reminds me of something I meant to mention... Loadout, f2p game, gave me the exact 5 cards I needed to craft its badge. No repeats, doubles, etc. Cannot imagine the odds.
The odds are roughly 26:1, assuming that each type of card has an equal chance of dropping.

You have five drops to fill five slots. We calculate the total probability of "no duplicates" by looking at the probability of each individual card landing in a previously-unfilled slot, and then chaining the individual probabilities together.

The first drop is guaranteed not to be a duplicate, because definitions. So P(1)=100%=1.0.

The second drop can only be a duplicate if it matches the first, which has a 1 in 5 chance of happening. Therefore, the card has a 4 in 5 chance of NOT being a duplicate. P(2)=80%=0.8.

The third drop has a 3 in 5 chance of not being a duplicate. P(3)=60%=0.6.

The fourth drop has a 2 in 5 chance of not being a duplicate. P(4)=40%=0.4.

The fifth drop has a 1 in 5 chance of not being a duplicate. P(5)=20%=0.2.

Since our original question is "what are the odds of all these events happening together", we multiply each of the individual probabilities:

1.0 * 0.8 * 0.6 * 0.4 * 0.2 = 0.0384 = 3.84%

There is a 3.84% chance of getting 5 unique cards in 5 drops. Expressed as a ratio, (1 / 0.0384) = 26.04:1.

Motoki, didn't you post about playing Dinner Date at some point? Worth a $1 on the NSFW bundle for it?
I think it was Drabes. Now I'm going to have to play that damned game now, aren't I? And it would even count as a lame short cheat game for Four in February anymore.
