Ok, this is getting ridiculous. CAGs are backlogging review codes? wtf!
Hell if you're not going to play it and the game is actually worth something and won't be on a cheap sale for a while you might as well sell it and then rebuy it later when it's cheap.

I played about 5 hours of South Park today and have had no technical issues at all. I'm playing comfy couch style, so didn't notice the KB/M stuff, seems kind of nitpicky to me.  It doesn't have super deep RPG mechanics, it's pretty much exactly like Paper Mario. It doesn't need to. The fighting is fun enough to get you from one story cue to the next without getting boring, and some great boss fights. It's a fully realized, open world South Park to walk around, densely packed with fan service nonsense and all the proper voice actors.  It really looks and feels like you are playing through an entire season of South Park. They absolutely nailed the aesthetic and the sound. Walk into a store and Taco Flavored Kissed could be playing. Walk into Ms Cartman's and there's a bunch of dildos and cocaine on the table. Open Kenny's closet and the mysterion outfit is hanging up. It's just packed with little touches like that will have you like "Heh" if you watched the show over the years. Basically boils down to this, if you are or were a fan of South Park, you will like this game. I got it from a Russian, but I would say it's easily worth $40 or so to a fan of the show.

I have no idea what RPS guy is bitching about TBH, he wants more graphical options? It runs at 1080p/ rock solid 60fps. What does he want? Lens flare? Ambient occlusion? I've heard the console versions aren't as steady. It's a 2D cartoon game.

Yea. I sold my code for the Titanfall beta for more than Titanfall is going for on GMG right now.

Well inspired by our favorite abominable snowman I decided to give the Karateka "remake" a try... well he was right.

It's mobile concession reduces the combat to a block button and two attack button... rhythm game-ish blocking, get in a few hits, lather, rinse, repeat.  While I enjoyed my half hour with it, I am disappointed... the combat has been dumbed down from the original Karateka.  It makes a number of nods to the original, but feels more like a spiritual remake.

Edit: I forgot to mention, it also lacks the "door boss".

I'm not getting my hopes up about it... I just set up my Playfire thing, linked it to my Steam, and it has not updated AT ALL three days later. I should have at least 90p from turning on certain games for the first time.
FWIW, I only get my rewards updated at the end of the week (with a convenient email telling me how much I earned), so there may still be hope.

I went to go wishlist this and... you guessed it - I already have it.

Turns out I got a review code from Nordic back in October, activated it, and then forgot about it... whoops! :whistle2:
Where do you write for?

Sounds like Obsidian still needs to employ a major QA Department.
They have a massive QA department. For $60, they'll let you QA any game you want.

It's been more than 25 years since I played the original on an Apple ][e, but I don't remember much complexity in the controls then either. Timing was important then, too (especially to kill that hawk). Reading about the differences in the remake, it's pretty clearly been watered down -- but that seems to apply more to the non-combat elements. Resurrections? Not getting blasted by the princess? This is not my childhood Karateka.

EDIT: Hey, IP owners, how about some more updates of old Broderbund games? Lode Runner and The Ancient Art of War were two of my faves. And you can't tell me that nobody would buy modernized Carmen Sandiego games.

Honestly, from what I've read the South Park game is relatively bug free. If the worst thing I've heard so far is "you can't use kb/m controls unless the controller is unplugged," which is the case with a number of games, then it's really not that bad...especially for an Obsidian game.With their track record, people should be shitting themselves everytime Obsidian releases a game that operates this well.

Does Obsidian usually patch things eventually?

I mean, I read the Kotaku thing and they said only one other reviewer had the same stuttering issues, so maybe something is wrong their their X-Box? I mean what would cause a console game to perform differently on different consoles?

The PC review seemed a bit nitpicky. Overall I read - great game - but a little buggy. Sounds just like the South Park game I've always wanted so I am glad I got it so soon. Would be annoyed to hear how good it was and sit here waiting for a 75% off sale. Especially with Ubisoft.

Version 5.3? I can't seem to assign the stick to the pad with that version. :(
Assign the keyboard controls to the d-pad and buttons. up is T, left is F, down is B, right is H, while A, S, and D are weak, normal and strong attack, W is parry and Q is assist. The keyboard controls make no damn sense to me but mapping them to a controller works well enough.

My guess is that the stuttering is from them installing the game to the harddrive. On the Xbox some games load the data from both the disc itself while also loading data cached on the harddrive. When the disc is installed onto the harddrive it suddenly needs to both read the disc data and cache data simultaneously which the xbox harddrive isn't normally meant to do. The first game to do this I think was Halo 3. When they first implemented the disc install feature there were a lot of people bitching about the game being damn near broken when installed.

Wow. Shouldn't a critic know that sort of stuff? Seems shady to try to blame an X-box problem on a specific game.

It wouldn't be the first time, or the last. There are plenty of reviews that are made based on false information, bias against a product before review as well as just plain dumb reviewers. There was one reviewer who actually got caught giving a very low score to a certain rpg series on console when people actually checked his PSN profile to find he didn't ever actually play the game.

Get all the cards for it then switch to Little Racers Street. Much better game. Only thing Mini Motor Racing EVO has over it is steam workshop support.
OK, just got done playing a solid 2 hour session of LRS. It is indeed very, very good and very fun.

When I first tried it, after buying it from IGS. I played with keyboard and didn't mess with the camera angles. I liked it then, but now I LOVE it after playing with a controller and changing to the high/follow camera angle. Is that the view you use spoder? It's much easier to play this way, you can steer better and you can see further ahead down the track.

Yeah, I think that's the same view I use. We should play the multiplayer sometime.

Classic controls...

normal-stance/fighting-stance

high/mid/low punch

high/mid/low kick

various grades of stepping back to dodge

(I'm not recalling a block mechanic, iirc the high/mid/low punch/kick had different reach and time-commitments that would leave you open.)

Yeah, they "streamlined it, with essentially as many lives as you need (unless you really suck). Also don't forget the Portcullis boss...

Not enough construction paper FXAA!
Blurry ass FXAA... gitouttahere.

I got Sonic All-Stars Transformed looking a good bit better by forcing 16x AF and disabling it's built-in FXAA in favor of SweetFX injected SMAA.

And the best RPG of all time gets even better

Edit: I think I'm about to pre-order a game...for console...for full price...oh Dark Souls 2, you dirty dog

Have you tried downsampling? I'm guessing that would make it better than SweetFX, although I don't think I've tried it with Sonic All-Stars Transformed.

Alright, I'm going to have to figure out how to do that.
This is a lot simplier that the wall-of-text suggests.

Use the in-game settings to disable the built in FXAA (just called AA).
Use nVidia Injector to force 16x AF (see guide below)
Grab SweetFX, copy those files (all) into the game's folder.
Modify SweetFX_settings.txt on these lines (make it equivalent to SMAA's creator's "ultra" setting)
#define SMAA_THRESHOLD 0.05//0.10 //[0.05 to 0.20] Edge detection threshold. If SMAA misses some edges try lowering this slightly. I prefer between 0.08 and 0.12.
#define SMAA_MAX_SEARCH_STEPS 32//16 //[0 to 98] Determines the radius SMAA will search for aliased edges
#define SMAA_MAX_SEARCH_STEPS_DIAG 16//6 //[0 to 16] Determines the radius SMAA will search for diagonal aliased edges
#define SMAA_CORNER_ROUNDING 25//0 //[0 to 100] Determines the percent of antialiasing to apply to corners. 0 seems to affect fine text the least so it's the default.
(If using MSI Afterburner's OSD, there's an addtional step)
[customspoiler=step]
Switch to the "MSI On-Screen Display Server" window.
Create a new profile for your game and change to it.
Click the big wrench icon to change advanced settings.
Go to General -> Compatibility properties and turn on "Enable compatibility with modified Direct3D runtime libraries".
[/customspoiler]

I'm still getting some aliasing in SMAA... I could tweak those settings a little, but it's not bothering me too much... at least I can see in the distance better.

Stolen from here. You could go the Nvidia control panel route, but I didn't test it (doesn't always work).
Download Nvidia Inspector Here: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/nvidia_inspector_download.html
After downloading the program and open it;
On the newly opened window, click on the Wrench Icon located in the "Driver Version" line;
On this new tab, click on the profiles list. If you can't find Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed there, keep reading;
If you don't have the profile already listed, do the following: On the top of the program, click on that Yellow Sun Icon. When it shows up a window asking for a name input "Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed" and press Enter;
After that, on top of the program click on the tiny symbol of a blue window with a green cross. Go to the game's folder and select the file "ASN_App_PcDx9_Final.exe" (usually located at: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed\ASN_App_PcDx9_Final.exe"
Under "Texture Filtering", on "Anisotropic Filtering Mode" select "User Defined / Off";
On the "Anisotropic Filtering Setting", select "x16";
On "Texture filtering - Quality select "High Quality";
Press "Apply Changes".

It plays great on pc and I like it alot too but its locked at 30 fps, not 60 ;p

My Playfire account was working fine until Friday. I have about $22 in Playfire credit. Now it won't recognize any of the achievements or first time plays. In my overview it is showing all the games I've been playing and achievements I've made, but the rewards aren't working. I also sent a ticket but from what I've read they either take forever to get back to you or just don't. I guess at least I got some credit while it worked.
So Playfire isn't registering anything I do on Steam. (I'm running Playfire Vulcan Beta since it seems to be the only thing offered presently.) I can't find anything on their message boards or in their knowledge base to help. Could anyone link me to a troubleshoot or suggest something that I've possibly overlooked? Many of the current "play for the first time" bounties are games I own and am now installing for the first time, and I'd like to get credit for these. Thanks for any help.
Hey guys. Thought you should know that I just received my rewards for those pending achievements I had since Friday.

So I managed to beat Vanguard Princess's story mode on easy, a first for any fighting game for me. To be perfectly honest I have very little idea what I was actually doing with all those button presses, but if nothing else it's one more game beaten and I got some cheap titillation in the process.

3/5 would consider banging again

Thanks. I will check it out. I've messed with Skyrim running ENB and Sweet FX at the same time with a ton of mods so I'm not too worried.

There's some other stuff I want to try out too that I read in the forums and in one of the Steam guides that might help with that Samba level running like ass.

And how about that Bank Street Writer, huh? Time we gave MS Office a run for its money...

"You haven't earned any rewards yet." -.-
Same here.

I went to my profile though and it SHOWS that I played some games for the first time (Bioshock 2, X-COM games, etc), but still no rewards.

That said, I played 4 X-COM games for the first time after I set up my Playfire, and it's only showing that I played 2 of those 4 on my activity feed... so I'd imagine they're fucking me there.

I supported the Defense Grid devs by buying all of their various DLC that I actually never got around to playing. Re: this game. Seems fairly ambitious for guys who just made a tower defense.
The DG crew is comprised of a bunch of industry vets and a couple noobs. Granted most of them aren't people you would recognize, but they all have pretty significant contributions to gaming over the last 20 years. So I think of it the other way around: A bunch of devs that had made all sorts of other genres separately, came together and made a TD game that is widely considered the best in genre.

To me it is kind of like saying the "Indiana Jones Trilogy" is one of the greatest trilogies of all time and the world is glad that there will never be any more made.
I completely agree.

I'm considering buying Need For Speed Undercover while it's cheap on sale. Anyone got any good words to throw to me to help me make up my mind about it?

I don't know any of the details of this beyond what you posted, but I wouldn't be so quick to make assumptions either way in cases like this. Being a game reviewer is a pretty thankless job because there are fanboys waiting to nitpick your reviews to death, irrespective of whether you have legitimate criticisms of a product. The individual in question may have had an alternate account he was playing the games on or possibly a different platform. OTOH, I could easily see someone doing something like this just because he thought he could get away with it.

The game in question is Hyperdimension Neptunia.

The game reviewer in question had the trophies for starting the game and finishing the prologue section but none past that.

The second game got a review which stated that the combat system hadn't changed which was a blatant lie as the combat for the first game was entirely different from all following games in the series.

The third game even has a reference to this in the press start trophy which reads. "Ooh, looks like you started a new game! Think any game reviewers won't get this one!?"

One Finger Death punch is an okay little game. It's really simple but gets hard quickly and can be addicting in a 'why is this simple little game kicking my ass' Flappy Bird sort of way. Granted I suck anything hand eye coordinaty in recent years so there's that.

Kotaku called it "The most violent rhythm game I've ever played" and I can see that. It's a bit DDR-ish. It also seems like a mobile game although it apparently isn't.

There's some funny voice overs like the guy who admonishes you in a faux Japanese accent "Do not button mash!"

Oh and there's Playfire rewards for those who can actually get it work. :p
