Oh yeah, I remember CAG got taken down for that didn't they? It's all bullshit either way, but we know Steam will do what they want whenever they want.
CAG got taken down for that? If that's the case then we do that daily. What do they want us to do? "Hey guys, this midweek madness is great this week!"

Also, if it's because of promoting third-party store deals then that's equally stupid, since the various bundle sites all use their own groups to promote the same deals themselves and haven't been banned.

Yeah, that definitely sucks.

I think it's either jealous, bitchy devs who wanted to be promoted through the group or bitchy, whiny users who got kicked when they tried to trade away free keys.

Either way, it's stupid. Devs blatantly promise keys for a vote on the greenlight page themselves, yet Steam has never taken them off of Greenlight if that's what they are worried about. Even if it is against the rules, they should be punishing the devs for doing it, not the group.
Yes, a lot of devs promise this and the worst part is, some people think I'm something to do with all of them!

We all be like ...

"We're still getting our free games rite ?" :whee:
Yes.

Whatever the reason, our group definitely wasn't the only one doing it and it's pretty annoying that they just did it without notice instead of trying to contact me. I've put a tonne of work into the group, working on it most evenings and they just flick the switch.

From what I recall, the problem Steam had with the prior implementation of the CAG group was posting non-Steam deals. They didn't care about posting Steam-redeemable games deals from other sites, but they did not care for those that were redeemed on services like Origin or UPlay, for example.

I don't remember if WGN was doing that, but you could definitely keep that in mind if you get an actual live support person. Agreeing to keep it Steam-focused would seem like a reasonable solution.

It should be permanent, Blackthorne was free sometime ago and it is still available now.
Forgot to thank you. So thank you.

Too late. You already signed the consent form and no-safeword waiver. I am professionally bound to assume that everything you say and do at this point is to enhance your experience.
Eh, could always be worse. At least you're a fairly intelligent woman.

What, do you want it to bake you cookies or something? It is a fairly standard TPS (which is a good thing) and it is a good Transformers translation (another good thing). I'd think any fan of the G1 generation or thereabouts would enjoy either WfC or FoC.
Agreed. I have both for 360 (and all the DLCs), it's a good game and has fantastic fanservice. And it has no relation to the new movies whatsoever. Only reason I'm not biting is because I don't wanna double-dip at that price.

For any of you who enjoyed the recent delisted Deadpool game, it's made by the same devs (High Moon). I'd say their Transformers games are better, but I suspect budget cuts and layoffs are what ultimately affected Deadpool's quality (the game was good and a lot of fun, just really needed more polish)

It's a good co-op game, that's all I say. 2nd game is supposed to be more solid as a singleplayer game (as there is no co-op)
I can confirm this.

Euro Truck Simulator Sale truckin' on in the lower half at Nuuvem.
Unfortunately, it seems region-locked on this deal, as I can't add anything to cart. The prices aren't good enough for the headache of using a VPN or some other alternative either.

I'm expecting ETS2 and its various DLCs to turn up in a Bundlestars or IG sometime this year.
Me too, probably will cost $4 or $5 though, so this is still a pretty good deal if you don't feel like waiting. ETS 2 Gold was just on sale for $7 on Steam the other day (and $4 or $5 from JosGba in the trading thread), so I expect plenty of good future discounts between now and then if you don't want to deal with VPN crap like me.

So are they removing both GfWL and the Rockstar DRM? Wow, I might finally play GTA IV.
I guess that means they're gonna patch out the GFWL.. unless they decided to only comment on the GTAIV console versions.

Well there's still hope for getting the second half of A Broken Age (you know that poor little kickstarter that couldn't finish despite exceeding it's goal by over 8x, almost $3 mil over.

http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2014/05/undelivered-kickstarter-project-meets-washingtons-wrath/
Was only a matter of time. I don't think Broken Age Part 2 being finished was ever the worry. The worry was that it wouldn't be good (most of the reviews I read for Part 1 say it was kind of disappointing/meh, specifically for the lack of difficult puzzles). All Schafer legally has to do is ship the bare minimum, which I'm sure he doesn't want to do, but will if his back is really that much against the wall.

lolcat-transformer.jpg

Pffsh, Voltron had transforming robot cats, waay better.

RTEmagicC_reebok_voltron_1.jpg.jpg
+1 Was gonna post about Voltron myself.

Nope, just missing with you. You caught it at that cheaper price not me. It's your profit. I was more then happy to pay $4.
Oh, okay. That's a relief, I'm glad you feel that way. I actually felt kinda bad for a minute there. $4 is still a great price on the base game+DLC. I don't imagine it'll hit that point outside of a Humble.

Part two of original post (apparently there's some sort of quote limit?):

Anyone else going to be involved in a certain VMC beta test coming up? Would be nice to play with some CAG bros, but I doubt anyone here has an Xbox One.
Hate to be that guy, but you know we have an Xbox Live Deals thread right? Why not try posting there? A bunch of people there have Xbones, and I hear a dashing young man with a beanie baby avatar even posts there semi-frequently. :D/

You can get the Logitech G27 for $200 on sale. Below that you can snag the Driving Force GT for ~$100, sacrificing the H-shifter (to sequential) and clutch. (There's finer points I'm glossing over).
I'm assuming wheels for consoles are easier to find on clearance/sale now that 360/PS3 are on the way out. Is there an easy enough way to get a console-specific wheel working on PC? If so, I'd probably consider that option.

So I decide to list all my Steam cards today and halfway through Steam decides to take a dump.

Thanks Obama Gaben.
Steam exploded right in the middle of me playing Battlepillars and since I was worried about Playfire not being able to track my achievements for rewards purposes, it made me have to stop for the night. You can imagine how disappointed I was being forced to take a break from such an incredible game.

And before anyone asks, no, I had nothing to do with Carl's group getting nuked by Steam. I know I've said some things, but I wouldn't have been a part of the group if I didn't like what Carl was aiming for. I'm really sorry about what happened Carl, and I hope you find out the exact cause of the group getting yanked and are able to correct it.

I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that if you need help making a new group after this, that us CAG regulars would be happy to help you put all the pieces back together.

So I just got my first ever Booster Pack on Steam. That's kind of exciting, today's going pretty well so far.

Thanks? for Aveyond: Lord of Twilight
It looks alright, definitely worse games you can spoder. I'm kinda hoping they give a loyalty discount for the sequel at the some point.

I wonder if anyone grabbed the third game yet. I know what it is, but I'd rather not ruin the surprise. :p

Edit: So my booster pack came with three cards, and they were all the same card, and of course it was a card I already had. :wall:

What's extra annoying is there are only five cards total, so if at least two of them were different, I'd have 4 out of 5 instead of 2 out of 5.

Now we all know it was you.
Damn my guilty conscience! I'm sorry everyone, cockblocking you one game at a time just wasn't doing it for me anymore, I had to cockblock you at the source!

Joking aside, I've already gotten enough fun out of Battlepillars that WGN has validated its existence to me. Couldn't risk not being able to get the sequel, Battleflies, for free through Carl. :p

I swear my last 3 booster packs have been like this. I dont know if it is a plot by Valve to get people to use the market and drum up more cash.

edit: and as soon as I post this, I get a foil while card farming

A whole 50% discount on 10+ year old games? How generous of them.
Only CoD 1 is 10+ years old. CoD United Offensive turns 10 in September, CoD2 turns 10 next year, etc. But yeah, feels like a lifetime ago, doesn't it?

I have Return to Castle Wolfenstein from retail but owning it on Steam for convenience would be nice. Wish it was lower.

I have CoD2 PC from retail as well, but I never actually played it. I only bought it out of spite for someone.

Yeah, Activision is nuts. I'm not buying black ops II unless it's well under $10. The rest I've already played & don't care about owning as I am sure I will never, ever play them again.

New Activision Deals
Call of Duty®: Black Ops II - $59.99 $29.99
Also,

Call of Duty®: Black Ops II Digital Deluxe Edition - $79.99 $39.99

which includes extra maps and Call of Duty: World at War.

EDIT:

  • Nuketown Zombies Bonus Map – Battle hordes of Zombies in this beloved 1960s nuclear neighborhood.
  • Nuketown 2025 Bonus Map – Relive the close quarters chaos of this classic fan-favorite map re-imagined in a 1960s visionary depiction of the “model home of the future.”
  • Weapon Camo – Rank-up in style with an exclusive multiplayer weapon skin.
  • (2) Player Card Backgrounds – Liven up any killcam with two exclusive player card backgrounds, inspired by Nuketown 2025 and Zombies.

  • Call of Duty®: World at War Download Token – A bonus digital copy of a Treyarch classic, which traverses WWII storylines from the Pacific and European theaters of war.

Might wanna rephrase that. I thought you meant it came with the Season Pass, when it just comes with Nuketown/Nuketown Zombies.

But yeah, it does come with WaW. It also comes with the BlOps 2 soundtrack.

All DLC maps for the games on sale are 50% off as well ($7.50 each).

Activision games are one of the only examples where it's actually cheaper to buy them on consoles.
So I'm realizing. I remember reading a piece someone wrote about how their high prices are a way they're trying to discourage PC gaming in favour of consoles because they have more control when it comes to a closed platform.

Anyone else going to be involved in a certain VMC beta test coming up? Would be nice to play with some CAG bros, but I doubt anyone here has an Xbox One.
You mean the one taking place from 4 pm EDT to 8 pm EDT? mayyybbbeeeeeeeee... (Also wtf my computer want's to correct the maybe I just typed to "MyCareerBuilder"...)

I think every version comes with nuketown now by default. I know my microcenter copy did and it wasnt deluxe. Just in case this was a deciding factor for someone

If it came with the Season pass, I would have stated as such. But I edited my post just for you, :newbie: .

They don't. The copy you picked up was a first-run copy, which includes the Nuketown Zombies map. Although you can still find those in the wild, non-first-run physical copies, as well as the base digital version, do not include this map, as they sell this separately on the store page.

How many more purchases can Activision hope to generate at these prices? Anyone willing to pay $10+ for a CoD game has had dozens of opportunities to do so.  Who's left?

Thank you for saving me from buying your bad game, Activision. Been debating Amazing Spider-Man for 2 days, today they reduced the discount from 66% off to 33% off. Decision has been made for me. :)

Almost bought it yesterday but I thought I'd wait and see if it went to 75% as a featured deal, nope!

That game is awful, anyway. Don't be suckered in by the Spidey name, if that game starred any generic hero it would have far lower scores than it already does.

They may sell it separately (Activision Tom Foolery, I'd wager), but the MP Nuketown map IS indeed free to all owners at this point without having to purchase it as DLC or even downloading it yourself. It's automatically in your game and working properly.

I know this applies to all buyers as well, since I bought the game soon after release, standard version, didn't have Nuketown, and when I was playing it a handful of months ago and Nuketown was in my game.

EDIT: Should have been more specific that I'm talking about the Nuketown MP map only. Haven't really touched zombies so I can't say whether or not that is free.

I figure the price went back up for everyone including the Russians. I just sent a PM though just in case. Damn you.

I just want to swing around the city and collect the scattered 700 items. My only hesitation is the performance on PC, if I can get it to run smooth.

Meh, I use 10 years old to simply indicate around that old... approximate age, details matter less than, was the game good? does it hold up? (Splinter Cell would be a good example).

360 controllers all use Xinput protocol which is a deficient version of DirectInput. Xinput only supports the number of buttons and axes on the 360 controller, no more (btw, the triggers are +/- halves of a single axis... so it only supports 5 axes.

DirectInput is the earlier and superior standard and supports a huge number of buttons and axes... thus making it superior for fancy controller setups (e.g. Flight / Racing setup.)

PS2 & PS3 wheels use the DirectInput standard thus those wheels work on both PC and Playstation, e.g Logitch G27, G25, DFGT. Last I read, it looked like PS4 would continue to support those. 360 wheels do not inherently work on PC, and I think their support was going to be broken on XBO.

Thus for a PC racing junkie, Playstation is much friendlier. And it is much more consumer friendly since the wheels continue to works across generations. Entry level for a nice wheel setup (H-shifter and cluch) is the G27 which goes on sale for $200 -- not a purchase I want to remake every few years. Also it's not uncommon to mix and match that with some pricey Fanatec stuff... starting with some nice Fanatec pedals ($150-$250), then maybe a nice belt-driver Fanatech wheel ($200+).

TL;DR

Dumbass :newbie:

I'd buy black ops 1 for $10 so quick.

$20 is crazy town. Any way to get it cheaper??

How many more purchases can Activision hope to generate at these prices? Anyone willing to pay $10+ for a CoD game has had dozens of opportunities to do so. Who's left?
Probably most CAG's ain't bought many Activ games...

Who buys Acti games like the COD games at such weak discounts?

;)

We wait for them $10 or less deals on newer titles - like Amazon DVG had COD:MW2 for $5 on V-Day one year (last time I think it been that cheap ever, too); Microcenter had for COD:BO2 a few years back; and when TRU had that PC Games Blowout for $10 where COD:MW3 was one of numerous titles on sale that cheap.

EDIT:

Wow. Those prices are terrible.

Also, the "Wolf Pack" (http://store.steampowered.com/sub/418/) is on sale for $3.75 (75% off) and includes:

Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Spear of Destiny (which is not on sale, is $5), and Wolfenstein 3D (which is on sale for $1.25).

CoD: United Offensive

CoD 2
So, is CoD3 gonna get a PC port or what? ;)

Wait - when did stealth games ever age badly?

There ain't enough of those - especially good ones - on the market, as is.

BTW - SC: BlackList is really good from what I've played, so far.

Just one MAJOR freakin' complaint - no matter what I do to the INI file, this game still wants to crash every 23 minutes or so!

This is drivin' me crazy - like how Deadly Premonition PC wants to eventually crash.

Especially since both of those games, you cannot just save anywhere at any time.

This is drivin' me crazy - like how Deadly Premonition PC wants to eventually crash.

Especially since both of those games, you cannot just save anywhere at any time.
Hmm, thanks for the heads-up on that. I've read of technical issues with it.
