I just got an email from Indie Meadow with news that my Steam key for Millennium was added (and one for Full Bore forthcoming), so they haven't totally sketched out and abandoned their customers.
I noticed yesterday he reappeared on facebook with an apology. I feel bad about my bitching about them on numerous sites lately but... results?

No one's asked for it yet, so can I double dip and ask for Blacksoul?

Probably utterly terrible... but I have an unhealthy fascination with shitty survival horror games.

Silly Idiot, Neuro said only Steam thread regulars can ask for more than one. :p

FakeCags all of yas!

I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for a bit longer; shit happens. Also, thanks for letting me know at least one person read that.

People who buy these things care too, trust me. Just go to those forums on Early Access games and check. It's just that it's not the usual crowd around here lest you get labeled a #FakeCAG. I've personally bought a few Early Access games. I'm just really choosy about it and do a lot of research first plus go with my gut on observing how the developer interacts (or lack thereof) with the community.

I'm not saying there needs to be an iron fisted one strike you're out, 365 days exactly to the hour policy, but I feel like there needs to be some level of accountability in some way. With a publisher games (usually) get done. Even if they aren't perfect, they get done. There's accountability. The developers might not like it, they might need to cut some things, but it gets done.

The thing with some artiste types is they are never satisfied with they're work. It's never good enough. They're never 'done'. They need someone to force them finish and call it good enough.

Then there's the types that mean well but things fall apart, which in a traditional game development environment the game would get cancelled. But here they have people's money already. And there's also no safeguards in place for Valve to stop selling an abandoned game.

Another issue is no roadmaps, not even rough estimates, are given or required. Is it scrupulous to sell a game that you know is probably 5 or 6 years out because one guy is working on it in his spare time when that isn't made explicitly clear to those buying? Even Kickstarter requires some kind of estimate on when the final product might be delivered. It is of course not written in stone, but it's something and it's important that people know what the time frame might be.

There's also unsavory types with no intention to deliver a good, proper, more or less complete and relatively bug free game. Again there's no safeguards and nothing in place for Valve to check and remove such items from being sold.

It basically takes a whole lot of flame wars, drama, shit stirring, pitch forks, screaming and getting the gaming press' attention and willingness to pick up the story and run with it so that Valve gets embarrassed and notices something might be a problem before they take any sort of action about a problematic item being sold. It shouldn't be that hard.
I agree with all you said, but as a response to my post, you're talking about entirely different scenarios than I was:

As long as work is being done and updates are coming regularly
I was addressing how such a change would affect Kerbal Space Program, which as I understand it performs perfectly fine as a game while they keep adding to it and keep its sale discounts low while it remains in it prerelease state. ;)

The store that carries Bad Rats, Coconut Queen, Secrets of the Magic Crystal, Eversion, so many "simulators", and cheap point-and-click adventure games. "Low Quality" products exist because people continue to buy these products and companies continue to make money.
I would also point out that all of the things you call out by name are actually fully-realized games, even though some of them aren't very good games and some of them are very niche products (but things we like to joke about on CAG precisely because they are niche products). The fact that a product may have a specific audience doesn't necessarily means it is a low-quality, unfinished, or unplayable product.
Well said, warreni. I was going to point out that he listed games that he doesn't seem to like rather than examples of irredeemably terrible products.

Out of all the people who played Coconut Queen, I don't recall anyone being vocal about disliking it.

He's one of my Steam friends. Cool guy. He regularly posts Steam feed updates very quickly when Steam keys get added for bundles so he does follow and I assume buy bundles. But he always buys everything at beyond #FakeCAG prices. He just dropped 50 Euro ($70!) on Dynasty Warriors pre-order and also bought a shit ton of other games today and pretty much every day.

I've got a few folks like that on my list, but they don't provide that public service. They just make me jealous at that kind of disposable income. They go beyond fake CAGging; they're like our antimatter, and if one of them ever comes into physical contact with one of us, Half-Life 3 gets released.

Lol, thanks for reminding me how little hitting 500 matters. Hopefully I'll be in the 1K Club by the end of the year.
Every milestone matters. I envy you! It was a lot more fun back at 500 games because bundles just seemed to have a lot less repeats back then.

Impressive! At least we know what to aspire to. I'm more shocked that his top 5 friends all have a 200+ steam level. I can't even fathom how much money you need to spend to get to 274.

People think that about me when they look at my collection and while I do FakeCAG it every so often, like 98% of that stuff was on deep discount or in bundles. I'm still surprised how many people don't really know about Steam deals beyond maybe Humble and the big Steam sale. Then there are people who know about some of the deals but just get all 'ain't nobody got time for that' as far as waiting around to get a deal.

Of course those people tend to buy games they actually intend to play, so...

But as far as buying everything? I'm not even sure I'd want to even if I had the resources. There's something of a game itself in snagging a deal, for one.

Coconut Queen was a great game. It seems like a joke, but I have played it all the way through about five times.

I'm most impressed that he still has almost 600 items on his wishlist.

Edit: I'm off for the night, if anymore requests come in, I'll pick them up in the AM and/or late afternoon tomorrow.

That is a lot of code to make something invisible for the dark theme. ;)

And really, it's because I bitched out all of the mods. People like me are what's wrong with the internet. #noregrets #sorrynotsorry
