I recently started watching Archer. Pretty damn funny. The nonsensical arguments and comebacks in the show remind me of this place!
I like Archer a lot. The last season was almost too random for my taste, but the seasons before that are all pretty good. Also, don't look up the guy who does Archer's voice. You'll be like "huh?"

Personal attacks and insults are of course, the best way to prove you are right, while managing to ignore everything posted before, for some reason. The further you post the less and less reason and arguments you have, so the only things you can resort to now, apparently, is name-calling. That's sad.
Honestly, I'm not sure you've responded to anything on this thread where you wouldn't have been better off by going with insults. Of course I'm not following my own earlier advice, so take that into account.

In my observation there's a good number of males among those who frequent online forums that have a very significant emotional investment in arguing that sexism in the gaming community doesn't exist. Anyone who tries to suggest otherwise gets repeatedly shouted down until they just shut up or go away.
I'd say you could accurately make those changes.

It is easier to believe that there is no sexism (or racism) if you're never experienced it.

Nobody wants to think of themselves as being bad people or part of a group that does bad things, thus they support arguments that reinforce their own view of being good.
You're right on that second sentence, but I'd argue that it's not a matter of never experiencing it (or at least witnessing it.) Rather it's a matter of actively pretending they can't see it.

All this other stuff is ridiculous tabloid BS that's clouding the waters and muddying it up enough to make people just ignore that there is no "Games Journalism", and "Games Media" is paid advertising and clickbait, mostly designed to extract money out of you coming and going rather than concern itself with the improvement of a still emerging artform (Well, as much as a consumer product can be art)
kotaku is a beacon of hard hitting, gritty games journalism. just look at that story on the top of the page.

I don't know why people even go to kotaku, polygon, IGN, etc. They're shit. You get more out watcing 5 mins of gameplay on youtube than you do reading some ad supported wall of text written by a guy who blasted through the game on easy in a night. All the news stories break on twitter and GAF. No reason to support that shit show of an industry in 2014.

Beyond that I find the subject of ethics in journalism to be a bit interesting. I think an ethical journalist is a rare thing. I never considered myself a journalist, I didn't even consider myself a blogger (my most active period was prior to the widespread use of the term). But, I suppose I was close enough to have people try to influence me. I once had a music group send me a plane ticket, pick me up at the airport in a limo, give me a hotel room, take me to dinner, let me go around their warehouse and pick out $500 worth of stuff, etc... (although I'd like to complain that the limo on the way back to the airport was smaller). Oh yeah, they told their fans they were sick and cancelled tour dates to do this. Why? They wanted help promoting an attempt to get their video on TRL (didn't work, MTV blacklisted it on TRL). In the long run, I severed all relationships with them, I was tired of the whole strings attached approach to the relationship and was adamant that I ran my website how I wanted to run it.

I surmise that behind the scenes of the indie video game industry is a lot like the indie music scene, but with less drugs and sex. Almost everyone has ulterior motives and there's a lot that goes on that's never publicly revealed. I'm not sure I really see the point to getting that worked up over it. At a certain level, you're talking about amateurs masquerading as professionals anyway. If you want to worry about something, I'd worry more about the top people on YouTube, making millions and having professional relationships with video game companies. I'm more worried about those guys behaving ethically.
So, think any gaming websites are going to make it a point to post or update their journalistic standards and practices?

You know, like actual legitimate sources of journalism?

Such as:

http://www.cbc.radio-canada.ca/en/reporting-to-canadians/acts-and-policies/programming/journalism/

http://ethics.npr.org/

I kind of wish there were a gaming site that actually adhered to that level of rigor and integrity. The sad part is I don't think they'd really be able to make a go of it because they would basically have to buy every product at retail so as to not be stuck to the corporate fief that doles out review copies. Unfortunately, I believe the majority of gamers are happy to have their day zero reviews, even if it's it's just 11/10 IGN.

All this other stuff is ridiculous tabloid BS that's clouding the waters and muddying it up enough to make people just ignore that there is no "Games Journalism", and "Games Media" is paid advertising and clickbait, mostly designed to extract money out of you coming and going rather than concern itself with the improvement of a still emerging artform. (Well, as much as a consumer product can be art. But that's an entirely different argument.)
Yeah, I think people are getting confused about how media and product reviews actually work both in and of themselves and in the larger context of journalistic practice. If you're reading a review on the internet of a book, movie, DVD, game, porn star, dental floss, or whatever--UNLESS you're reading that review on Consumerreports.com--odds are extremely good that the person writing that review received a review copy or attended a press screening or got a press BJ or pack of floss. This is how all of these industries work and always have. There's nothing magical about gaming in this context.

The bigger picture is that journalists always walk a fine line between networking and quid pro quo. Journalists are expected to attend parties thrown by political candidates that they're supposed to be covering in an objective manner (and for many outlets at least your personal politics are not supposed to play any role). This is one of the reasons I pursued biology in college instead of journalism. It's all somewhat disingenuous by its very nature. I worked for the school paper for a couple of years and it opened my eyes about how you have to kind-of not genuinely care about issues as a reporter or the job will crush your spirit.

I'd rather read a wall of text than watch a five-minute video. I don't visit NeoGAF (I'm not even sure what it is) and I don't believe in Twitter. Those are my reasons; I can't speak for anyone else.

So, think the Borderlands 2 Headhunters DLC will get any cheaper during this sale, or is this it? I might just pull the trigger on these.

(Heh.... FPS Game. "Pull the trigger".)

Mafia II Betrayal of Jimmy is on sale too. It's RU/UA only DLC.
Yep, be sure to get it from a Russian, it's usually like a key during these sales.

OT, kinda: How long does Steam Support take to reply to tickets? I've been waiting for them to reply to my request to remove a bunch of games from my account for five days and not a peep. I'm basically asking them to remove multiplayer-only stuff that's dead due to Gamespy closing, Inquisitor (because I want the Deluxe version) and Dino D-Day. :p

4 days to a week to respond, and about a month to actually fix your issue.

Why not just hide them?

Next time I post something just ask. I gave someone 4 different games. I would rather they not go to a lurker.
I took one game, and I thanked you for it. I also asked you for a game from your previous post in a PM. Even though I didn't get the game from you, I still thanked you for your random act of generosity to others.

I am a person that is on CAG more often than many, so although I may not post much on this exact thread, I have posted more than many on this website. I have created deal threads and post often on other threads. So your definition of a lurker is not my definition of one. However now that I know you would rather not have me take any games that you post, I will not. But I will suggest you don't put codes on a public forum page if you are not going to be happy about it.

Oh and since I took a game from this thread and some to seem have an issue with it, I will toss one game back into the fire for someone to take. Lurkers are welcome:

Mysterious Cities of Gold: 3EYQB-IGDAP-EVHXX

FFWRX- since I took a humble bundle game from you, I am willing to give you one as well. Look at my trade list and let me know.

I think FFWRX is saying that if you see something from the list that you are interested in be sure to ask for it BEFORE the codes are posted for lurkers to take. That makes you not-a-lurker in the eyes of FFWRX. Unless I am misreading things.

I interpreted it the same way as Palinn. I don't think he was saying he didn't want you to have the games, he was saying that if you see multiple games on the list you can ask for them before he drops them to the lurkers so you can have them instead of random lurkers.

If that is the case, than I am truly sorry about the misinterpretation. I thought he wasn't happy about me taking it. I guess I didn't see an earlier post with that game being available to non-lurkers.

Depth Hunter 2 is on Steam now.. Dev has stated that only people that bought the Greenlight Bundle 3 will get keys.. which means no Steam keys for the other bundles Depth Hunter was in.

Who are you to express your bigoted interpretations to others? Do you have any PROOF that that's what he meant? I assume you like watching tentacle rape hentai and Faces of Death videos, you chauvinist. No wonder nobody talks about games with people like you posting their unethical judgments.

I was almost going to feel bad, but then I remembered I bought Betrayer during the Summer Sale. So I guess it kinda evens out.
You're right because of people like you I was able to viciously spoder a copy of Betrayer yesterday. Thank you kind sir.

Why not just hide them?
Because I don't want them cluttering up my profile. I don't activate -everything- I get in bundles anymore. I know that's very anti-+1, and it sounds silly coming from someone who has close to 1000 games on Steam already, but that's just what I want to do.

...

Wasn't part one the one that got bundled before?

It happens, no biggie. Us sluts have been fighting so much lately, figured I'd step in to prevent one for once.

I'm confused, was it ever bundled?

Slut, please.

Dev basically added some minor features and renamed it.. so it's probably the same game.
Ah, still slightly confused I guess. So does that mean Depth Hunter 1 is never coming to Steam? If so, I guess I can commend him for trying to hide the shadiness, but still shady to not ever release 1 on Steam.

There's a demo version or something, but hell if I'm gonna download that.

I just checked and I don't seem to own part one anyway, so I'm not getting a key... still, that's kinda shitty. I did read that they're giving owners of part one a discount... so who knows.

Well now I bet you wish you would have saved that MCG key for someone special. :D

Just gave you my absolute final "like" for this topic, ever. Final final.

I keed! I keed! You are the most special......big eyed...orange sort-of scary looking....monster thing I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Really! You are welcome to my spare keys any day.

*pat pat*
That's it's crotch not it's head pervert.

I'm going to stop being a jackass for a minute to announce that Gnomoria has added trading cards. There are 6 total with 3 drops.
