Why would you do that? The only thing on my wishlist is that $100 Greenlight access nonsense from the wishlist garbage campaign when someone mentioned a guy winning access to it. The amount of David Lynch-style mindfuckery I would release in a free game would make it worth it.
I wishlist stuff when I find something interesting. I used to use it as a quick checklist for sale prices on anything I really wanted until I mostly stopped buying stuff directly through Steam. Now it's simply for reference.

and also since I read in a previous post of yours about how you love people posting pics all over the thread

here you go, just for you.

I got Prelogate Thanks.

Ain't forgot.

You're right.

Even though, you're barely tipping the iceberg.

This is EA we're talking about.
well I wonder, would an indie version of EA be better than a corporate one?

Remember what it used to be like in the days of the big publishers who forced developers to release games before they were ready? They did this because they didn’t care about games, about fans, about the industry as a whole, about me, about you. They only cared about profits. They took breaks from counting their money to hold meetings in conference rooms where they showed charts that explained how much money they would make if a game came out on a certain date, usually just before a fiscal quarter ended or in time for the holiday shopping seasons. The people in the meetings didn’t actually play games because they were too busy counting money, plus they were above such frivolity. They might as well have been selling shoes or plumbing fixtures or alt rock albums they didn’t even listen to. And then crowdfunding came along and game developers who loved videogames got to do what was best for the games, for the fans, for the industry as a whole, for me, for you. And we all lived happily ever after.

After the jump, I ruin the fairy tale.

Planetary Annihilation, an arguably incomplete and poorly made game, is a worst case scenario for crowdfunding. What kind of publisher would stake its reputation on a mess like this that didn’t come out just in time for Black Friday or at the last day before a fiscal quarter ended? What kind of publisher would so unabashedly foist off onto unsuspecting gamers something so obviously not ready for release without some sort of scheduling motive? What kind of publisher could have so little regard for the game a developer worked so hard to make?

In this case, there is no publisher. There is only Uber Entertainment, a company capable of making polished and complete games like Monday Night Combat. And now they’ve built and self-published Planetary Annihilation thanks in part to an enormously successful crowdfunding campaign that got them out from under the boot of cruel publishers, where they demonstrate that maybe publishers weren’t always such a bad idea. This is a game that never got whipped into shape the way a good publisher can whip a game into shape.

Did we ever get a definitive answer on this?
I'm probably one of the few people using Origin. ;)

And actually, been utilizing it the last few days - since NFS: Rivals PC forces it upon the player...just like many of EA's recently 1st-party published games have done since BF3 PC.

EDIT:

{Looks outside}

Nope, no Apocalypse yet.

I think Steam still has the PC gaming digital market pretty much, anyways - from the looks of things.
Awwww....Well...I might come to the dark side if they give me the Mass Effect Trilogy and/or SimCity for free (well, that's how much I'd pay for SimCity anyway)...

75 percent off lowest MSRP price or better.
Buying a game at the lowest price it will ever be reduced to by a licensed distributor, after taking extenuating factors such as Steam card sales and Playfire rewards piracy into account, with the possible exception of glitches.

Depends on the glitch.

That doesn't mean you're poor.

Bargain-hunting is a lot of fun, if you ask me.

It's part of the game + CAG Lifestyle.

Plus, that's saved-money one can spend on other things.
I'm not saying anyone's literally poor, but waiting for those conditions to apply is pretty absurd IMHO. If I really want something, I'm content with buying at 15 to 20 ($ or % depending) off of current retail price, unless it's near a possible holiday sale time. Then it's a wait and see.

And I like a good bargain, but if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have none at all, so I relegate my bargains to thrift stores/yard sales.

Buying new or shortly after release these days is a suckers bet. More than likely you'll be getting an unfinished game, end up being a beta tester, while hoping the dev actually fixes/enhances their game.

For me, it isn't about price. I'd just rather spend less, and get a better game.

I think your opinion of your abilities might be greater in your head than in real life. Let's not kid ourselves here, your entire generation is a disease that makes me ill on a daily basis. You posting or not posting for a day is just a drop in the ocean of things that irritate me.
your optimism and zeal for life is nauseating

Bargains? Bargains you say?

When I get a moment I'll tell you all about my £41 Silverstone PC case from yesterday. It's a riveting tale of intrigue, suspense, and mystery!

:whee:

P.s. Seriously. Half of the fun has gone out of digital game bargain hunting because there's just so many bloody sales these days.

P.p.s. Get off my bowling green.

This is how I feel about groceries. I was afraid that by the time Steam Winter sale happens, I wouldn't have games I wanted to buy/backlog.

Side note: I'm no longer a CAG in Training ! :D

Friendly reminder to everybody planning to use an alt account for Christmas sales/card farming etc.:

If you want to setup a new account, do so NOW. I've done so myself over the last month (150+ cards idled so far), but only just worked out that I was locked out of the market because I hadn't spent any actual money on Steam. After buying a 19p DLC for Impire, it's now told me I need to wait 30 days (early November) before I can access the Steam community market. This isn't a problem as I'll be ready for the Xmas sale (which was the point), but if I'd left it later I'd be in bother.

Don't come crying to me with your "It made me enable Steam Guard now I can't trade! Wah wah wah wah!" nonsense on 20th December. You had time to get your shit in order. :nottalking:

TL:DR - get your alt account ready, fool.

The Steam Guard restriction should only be 15 days for the market and trading.

"To buy and sell items in the Community Market, you must have a non-limited account that has been protected by Steam Guard for at least 15 days."

I think what flowette said is when you don't have made any purchase on a new steam account it is a limited account, so after buying your first game/dlc/whatever they give you like 1 month to get it non-limited.

I think after getting yout account non-limited, you can turn steamguard on and then you need to wait another 15 days.

This is pretty much it. I'd turned Steam Guard on and then waited 15 days with no joy. It wasn't until I looked into it that I should've bought something as well.

It's no big deal as things stand, but if I was in a hurry it would be a problem.

Top tip #2: CS:GO cards sell for $notalot. If you aren't level 5 with that badge, buy enough cards from the market to do so and then craft at Xmas. I bought 5 of each card (4p x 5 x5 = £1) which should net me 5 Xmas cards worth £1.50 (5 x 30p) in total. Just remember not to craft until "mystery" cards start appearing.

Top tip #3: if there's no reward for crafting cards during the Xmas sale this year, forget I said any of this.

Absolutely.

Besides waiting for killer sales - this is definitely one of the other factors. Wait for patches and whatever nasty issues - or, at least a fair amount of them - to get ironed out.

Plus, games - especially in the AAA category - have gone DLC-crazy (see Borderlands 2, SR series).

Oh, that isn't the end of it, either. Some have even went Re-Release HD/Redux Edition-crazy - i.e. see Sleeping Dogs: Definitive, Metro 2033 Redux, Metro LL Redux, Deus Ex: HR - Director's Cut, etc.

Disney is adding 14 games to Steam today. They're still rolling out but so far the list is:

  • Split/Second
  • Toy Story 3
  • Pirates of the Caribbean - At Worlds End
  • Cars 2
  • Disney Epic Mickey 2
  • Disney Planes
  • PURE
  • TRON: Evolution
  • Alice in Wonderland
  • Tangled
  • The Princess and the Frog
  • Brave
  • Disney Universe
  • LEGO Pirates
So far all are $20 each and in a pack with all 14 for $110. There's a 10% launch discount so $18 and $100.

link

edit: The store page for the pack was pulled so here's the steamdb entry. Individual store pages seem to still be up.

edit 2: 10% discounts gone. packages have changed up. this stuff is all up in the air.

Out of those, Epic Mickey 2 is the only one original enough to even consider getting. I ended up playing At World's End on PC when it was released, and it's nothing special. They didn't get the same voice actors, as far as I can recall. PURE is an ATV racing game and isn't too awful--easy controls, easy gameplay, diverse courses, albeit tedious to advance in--but it came out five or six years ago.

Other than the ability to pre-load the game, is there something else that we're missing out on by not getting the keys until the 7th?

Ah, I see. I thought it was released tomorrow.

Also, I didn't know if there was some sort of pre-order perk or something like that which we'd miss out on.

Preorder extras are tied to keys, so even if we got keys early, we still wouldn't have had them.
I assume what you meant is that we would only get pre-order extras if we bought through Steam. Which is what I thought. But your reaction to news of the Oct 07 key release was so strong that you had me second guessing myself. I didn't realize that you were just upset because you couldn't play the game NOW.

Not that there is anything wrong with your reaction. I'm mean, you're all pumped to play the game. That's cool. It's just that you faked me out a bit there.

It's about damn time Pure and Split/Second made it to steam. That's very good news, I hope the bugs are fixed in the Steam version for Split/Second, I remember reading about save files getting corrupted or something. Both are great racing games.
