I like XCOM: EU a lot...

...but I suck at strategy games + this game kicks my ass on every playthrough.

Done two PT's, so far on Normal - lost both.

level design was enough to make the game inferior...the dlc for ds2 fixed a lot of the issues, but ds2 base game's levels were remarkably linear and lacking in depth and creativity. creativity and quality of many of the boss battles were also a let down. the game world itself also wasn't quite as interesting.

also personal preference, but i much preferred how ds1's world worked (a large, interconnected world) in contrast to ds2 (where majula is essentially a hub to reach different levels).

It was still really good, my first or second favorite game i've played this year so far. just not as good as dark souls 1.

ive completed, demons souls, dark souls and dark souls 2 in that order and i can honestly say i had the most fun playing dark souls 2.

it doesn't really matter. they're all very similar, if you like one you should like them all. different people like different ones for different reasons. even the gripes i have w/ds2 (outside of level design, which i think even from an objective point of view is lacking compared to ds1 and demon souls) really boil down to personal preference.

don't be reckless and rush in. Do it slow and always move together as a group. Get a scout advance ahead and when u see enemy, hunker down or run back to regroup

i really believe you can play them in any order. just know the game mechanics get more refined in each sequel. i know lots of people who quit on demons and had no problems completing dark souls simply because of the improved mechanics.
 
I played Derp Souls a bit on my old computer.  Waiting for them to remove GFWL before I install it on my new (ish) one.  That'll probably never happen, though.

G4WL was garbage + a disaster.

With people having issues w/ actually getting G4WL games to boot; G4WL sometimes just won't install, update, or boot-up properly; G4WL game-saves get erased b/c of God knows what reason; issues w/ offline and online profiles/save working; saves being encrypted can cause problems when transferring game-saves from one PC to another; games not performing well sometimes when playing online; and any other nonsense one even can think of.

Well, I don't know about you but Microsoft commitment to the master race & their Windows OS as gaming platform is admirable. Almost every year, they re-affirmed their dedication to you, the master race. Something not even emperor Gaben who sits silently on his Steam throne can do. See proof

oh I believe you. I definitely think ms could have done a better job with it. but I've never had an technical issue with gfwl. meh.

You need a good build order. If you're not getting up the maximum number of satellites and getting an A grade each month, you're not going to make it regardless of your squad tactics. I found the game very unforgiving in this regard. On the other hand, if you get up all your satellites the game becomes a cakewalk. Just speaking about EU, as I haven't tried EW yet.

G4WL don't get updates anymore; Steam still gets plenty.

While I luckily never had saved-game issues...

...problems w/ it have always been rampant.

On numerous occasions: I've had to reinstall, re-download, or do some kinds of garbage to get G4WL going - namely, to get my G4WL games actually going.

as long as ms doesn't actively block PC gaming and provides a open, stable, constantly improving platform for us to use (windows/dx) I have no problem with them not bringing xbox games over. its their prerogative if they want to leave money on the table. hell I think sony, nintendo, and especially 3rd parties are all dumb for not releasing their games on pc, say with a 6 month delay to not effect hardware sales too much. there are people who will never buy a console but they would buy mario, and there are people who just aint trying to game on a pc. so why not get paid twice? rockstar has figured this out(ill be buying gta5 twice) i feel like they are all leaving money on the table. rant over.

jshackles should make a card lister tool that automatically lists cards at their current market value or maybe even one cent less than the going rate to assure they'll sell.

I have both Athena and Willhelm going right now and am enjoying them both. Willhelm is my favorite of the two, but I think they're both more interesting than Nissa or Fragtrap. Athena plays lots differently since she's a tank for the most part and timing the shield charge/release adds something new to the gameplay.
