Yeah this smells more like shady music industry bullshit rather than shady game industry bullshit.
Hopefully they'll just say "We had to remove the songs. Sorry. But we have no problem if people want to add their own custom music files. Hint hint.

PS here's a link to the file format go wild."

Congratulations on keeping shitty developers cranking out crap games by buying absolutely anything put in front of you :D/
That doesn't cut as deeply when I see Culling of the Cows, Woodle Tree, White Noise Online, and Uriel's Chasm all on the top ten on your most recently played!

I know you didn't buy (most) of those.

Not a joke (though I know it sounds like one). I'm not sure if I'd let an 8yo play it. If there was a way to limit it to just the cute, comical parts of the game (which are fine) then sure, but it all sort of weaves together and might be a bit more mature than they ought to be playing. I haven't played Blue Rose, though it looks rather a lot less heavy as far as subject matter goes, so it would likely be a better choice in that regard.

You seem to watch a lot of anime, so would you let your daughter watch something like Steins;gate? (not a direct analogy but the closest I can think of now, in terms of themes and execution). That's the best answer I can give, really.
ah.. No. I wouldn't let her watch Steins;gate. Thanks for clearin that up. Just seemed weird that a pigon dating sim would get dark, lol. But some other people mentioned it as well so i guess ill steer clear of it, thanks

Why do game pub's and dev's agree to have licenses on songs for a limited X amount of time?

I understand music industry is trying to make money here and force them to renew the license - but, maybe games should try to get a "lifetime fee" of some kind?

I'd guess a "lifetime fee" for song(s) would be for as long as that game-dev and/or game-publisher still owns the game IP and distribution rights; and as long as that record company/label still owns the track and distribution rights, right?

Music industry might laugh at that kind of thought and/or charge ridiculously for that kind of licensing, though.

I would assume (i.e., I'm guessing) that the songs removed were the most expensive to license in the first place. So a shorter license was the balancing act between paying far too much and not having the song at all. Why pay for 2020-End of Time if 98% of your sales and most of the game play will occur between 2014-2019? Keep in mind as well that licensing is done through various other parties so the most expensive licenses aren't necessarily for the most popular or best-selling songs. You can potentially get better terms from Guy A representing artists with multi-platinum albums than from Guy B representing a one-hit wonder from the mid-90s.

Damn missed that Borderlands Pre-Sequel price glitch (£5 or something like $8). :(

On positive note, I can wait for Pre-Sequel Pre-Complete-Goty-Edition...

Shouldn't be away even for a minute on Sunday.

Yeah this and these are deals were done 10 years ago, when digital distribution wasn't as big as it's now.

With traditional physical products there wouldn't be need to manufacture new copies after 10 years due to second hand market etc and it wouldn't be worth to sell as "new".

Doesn't make sense to pay again since most money is already in your pocket, it probably wouldn't make more than licensing fees. (Which may be more expensive later on, as it's already used they can use it as leverage)

I'm wondering how many will get their BL:TPS revoked and maybe switched-out w/ what they were originally supposed to get (Borderlands 2)...

Damn, this is the first I'm hearing of a price glitch on BL:tPS sorry I missed it.  Still hoping to catch a price glitch on the new Dragon Age, but with my luck I'll miss it when it happens.

So, my birthday was on Friday and I don't remember much of anything until I woke up this morning.

Don't worry, if madjoki missed it.. everyone here must've missed it too. I didn't know anything about it

Well, not exactly xD. I warned them (on Tebola chat) but me, Bobby and Trav at least couldn't get our paypal payment proccessed. It took too long so we couldn't get any key.

But yes, madjoki is the king, 99% times he is the first.

Here are the remaining keys from my recent bonanza.  I took the liberty of bastardizing the titles and adding in some really tricky clues for my own entertainment and hopefully yours, even if you (rightfully) want nothing to do with these games.  LOL

Battletoads ***CF-YR4IX-PI7J7

What a tree turns into after it falls down. But not after it's turned into housing materials - that's lumber and wouldn't fit into the three spaces. This is a short piece with bark intact that may or may not have bumps and be thrown on a fire. Oh, but the middle letter needs to be transformed into a number leet speak stylez. L0L

Battletoads ***F2-V23ZP-XLKJN

The opposite of fore. But not on a golf course, on a boat or a spaceship or something. LOL

'lester Fudd: Curly's Gold - Ep 1 Since this isn't a key, I just replaced two of the letters/numbers with other letters/numbers.  Can't remember which ones anymore.  Should be easy to figure out since it's just two though. ****://www.indiegala.com/game?game_id=b42d9e072f3a11e49d7209015c403a00

Just kidding, it's the real link LOL
Changed my mind.  These four letters are a common beginning for web links. LOL

Ken Griffey, Jr. Presents Hero of the Kingdome ****B-QGF6L-4IGFH

This 80's pop sensation sang "Like a Virgin" but in fact is nothing like a virgin. Oh, but that won't fit in the blanks so you'll have to take out all the vowels. LL

Ken Griffey, Jr. Presents Hero of the Kingdome 9AP8N-BA9PF-**6*7

These letters are frequently used as an abbreviation for this forum and/or its members. Oh, but leave the random 6 in the middle. LO6L

(Mike) Huntsman: The Orphanage *****-*****-*****

These random letters and numbers once gave access to a game that no one wanted when it was available for free :(. Maybe they still do grant access. No promises.

The letters and numbers are XZVLV-83Z9L-ZAGA2. LOL

Major Dadhem 74R59-Y****-C3QNZ

These letters/numbers look like a really cool way of spelling kids. KI6Z. Actually I guess the 6 looks more like a B. Really cool way of spelling kibs? Never mind. LOL

Paranormal State: The Case of the Missing Keys for Votes 47**0-L7C6P-90PV4

These two letters are a common abbreviation for the term Artificial Intelligence. But don't just put down the first two letters of the words, AI. Doesn't that seem a little obvious after all these REALLY tough clues? Or does it? LOL

If you enjoy Game Dev train-wrecks/wacky-hijinx, partake of the Gold Rush! Anniversaderp one:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/319230/discussions/0/620696522120558904/#p1

Some background:  they apparently mislabled? their Steam app/depot and were giving the newly released remake game (priced at $30 lol) with the "DLC" and it was being sold for $4 on sale. The interesting thing is when you bought the "DLC", you got the classic Sierra version, the "DLC" AND the new $30 remake....The devs then, in their infinite wisdom, decided to go back and try to "fix" the depot, which only made it look like they were covering their tracks. Here was their first response (gotta love KISS Ltd) and some return fire:

Now the mob has formed, pitchforks and torches in hand...waiting for blood...or a game...or a refund...or something....

Enjoy.

This isn't the first time that's happened. I saw a thread for a case like this a while back on SPUF, and the guy never got refunded lol

Don't feel bad, since I haven't hardly played TF2 or DOTA 2, I don't really get the whole "key" concept, either. What makes them the universal currency?
What makes them the universal currency is that they ALWAYS sell on the market. Thats really it. They're extremely marketable. If you have a slew of keys you want to turn into wallet or Paypal, its very easy to find a buyer.

You really need to learn the key concept and its very simple. While there are traders that will sell games from other regions for things like Paypal and such, many more only accept keys. It just opens another door for you for getting games cheaper. I personally rarely buy games direct from Steam at all anymore, I'd say 90% of the time I'm trading for them.

TF2 chests are the only way to get rare hats (aside from trading with other people who got theirs from a chest). Since a lot of people want said hats, the value of the keys via the Steam market stays relatively close to the MannCo store price (i.e., is fairly stable) and there's a constant demand for them.

Stability + Demand = useful universal currency

Huh, interesting. I may have to look into it more. I never use the marketplace, so I've never had any reason to learn more about them. Thanks!
