I know, right? Where the fuck are my predator delivery drones, Amazon?

Pfft. When I kept having issues with my Prime deliveries coming late a few summers ago, I had to e-mail them three or four times and all I got out of it was $5 credit.
The 1 month extension is in the terms of the Prime service. I just directly ask for the extension when they screw up and they just give it to me.

Where's it say that? I just read through part of it and I can't find it. I'll probably email if I can find it so I can get the free month.

Ahh. I'm not sure if my orders said that or not.
Not sure about the two orders I just emailed them about but I'm contacting them anyway. One took 5 Business days (Mon toFri) The other took 5 business days (Mon to Mon).

Completely unacceptable in my book. Even if I get the student discount on Prime. It's not what I am paying for.

Completely unacceptable in my book ... It's not what I am paying for.
It's not just the shipping speed (which is ultimately the carrier's fault, but whatevs) the CS reps seem to be devolving. My convo from last night. I only removed my name and order #. everything else is exactly as it was.

Initial Question: My last shipment, which included #**************, was late and now this order #************** won't arrive for a week after it shipped. Is this going to keep happening?

11:54 PM PST Me: Hello?
11:54 PM PST Amazon(Amazon): Hello, my name is javid. I'll be glad to help you to today.
11:55 PM PST Me: ok
11:55 PM PST Amazon(Amazon): "me" i am sorry for the inconvenience caused but as i have checked you will receive your order soon
11:56 PM PST Me: Soon... when is that? UPS says it won't arrive until next tuesday.
11:56 PM PST Amazon(Amazon): "me" as your order was supposed to be delivered on Friday, December 5, 2014 but it hasnt as i have checked before 9th december you will receive the order
11:57 PM PST Amazon(Amazon): As aa compensation i will extend your prime membership
"me" will that work
11:58 PM PST Me: If I don't have any other choice, I guess so.
11:58 PM PST Amazon(Amazon): "me" i have extended your prime membership to one month and dont worry you will receive the order as well soon
11:59 PM PST Me: Ok.
11:59 PM PST Amazon(Amazon): ANything else i may help you with?
11:59 PM PST Me: I don't think so. Thank you for your time.
11:59 PM PST Amazon(Amazon): You're welcome. Thank you for contacting Amazon. We hope to see you again.

Couldn't resist the deal on the Disney Mega Pack, thanks to my Komrades!

That sounds great!
Having already ponied up for the Season Pass, I'm glad to see something like that come along as farming vending machines is not a very inspiring end-game. I do hop to get at least one high-quality story DLC out of the SP though.

I saw the problems right when I say the name javid.

At least its not Steam copy/pasta robot responses. At least you can tell it is typed by someone not fluent in the English language. And the end you got a free month :)

The keep this up and you can get 2 years for the price of one. :)

y u naut w8 4 75% off??
Eh, I did a little better than that if you figure in the Eastern Europe Coupon Code and the fact that the games are cheaper because of the pack. (85-86% off retail)

Who knows what will happen with Disney games in the future? Some of them might get pulled or they may never go more than 50% (pre-additional discount) again. Or they may all hit 75% off in the Winter Sale, who knows? But it does seem as though recently the publisher packs have been discounted less than in the past.

Also, I just really want them. Now.

I have too much money and nothing to spend it on...that's why I didnt wait.
But I didn't ask you. y u answer me

Anyway, if Disney is willing to discount the pack at 50% off so quickly, I imagine it won't take long for it to reach 75% off, which is why I'm waiting.

Already got a response back ... now have two free months added to my prime membership :)

I went the email route and their emails are more fluent in thier English than their chat support ;)

First email:

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the problem you had with the delivery of your order. I do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

I understand that, as a member of Amazon Prime, you expected 2-day delivery for the order you placed while being a part of the membership.

As an online retailer, we rely heavily on the postal system to deliver our orders to our customers and sometimes, despite all our efforts, there can really be unforeseen delays that are beyond our control. We're aware that our choice of delivery services reflects on our business as a whole, and we appreciate your feedback.

I've forwarded your message about LASERSHIP to shipping department and I'll make sure the appropriate people in our company see your message, as I know they'll want to read about your experience, so that this will not happen again in your future orders.

To help make up for the inconvenience, I've extended your Amazon Prime membership by one month. The membership will now renew on October 24, 2015.

I realize this prime extend can't fully make up for the trouble you had. Please accept it as a goodwill gesture and an apology or any inconvenience.

It is always important for us to hear how customers react to all aspects of shopping at Amazon.com. We take this kind of information seriously as it is valuable to us in helping us to continue to improve our program.

In addition to our large selection, one of the benefits we try very hard to offer our customers is convenience. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced in this case.I hope you'll consider this an isolated incident and give us another chance in the future.

We look forward seeing you again soon.
Best regards,
Deepak D.

Hello,

I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused with the delivery estimates of your recent order.

To deliver your order as quickly as possible, we assigned the near by fulfillment center from your shipping address. However, the items aren’t available at the fulfillment center which has been assigned for your order.

Therefore, we need to obtain the item from another fulfillment center and it takes additional time to ship your package. As you may know, we have several fulfillment centers across the U.S., and the items in your order may sometimes be in stock at different locations.

When you place your order, we estimate your ship date based on where we have inventory, the delivery address you provide, and how quickly we can obtain and assemble items for shipment.

I understand that, as a member of Amazon Prime, you expected 2-day delivery for the order you placed while being a part of the membership.

As a compensation for this delay, I've extended your Amazon Prime membership by one month. The membership will now renew on November 24, 2015

We here at Amazon customer service continuously strive to assist the customers in each and every way can and feel disappointed when we are unable to address customer's concerns. I hope you can understand our limitations in this situation.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We appreciate your business and hope that you will give us the chance to serve you again in the near future.
Best regards,
Mary T.

Damn, now I wish I'd have bitched at them about those orders, separately. I'd be Primed until 2016.

I think I'm going to save myself the initial communication headache and start emailing them, although I swear they keep rearranging their site as to make any sort of direct contact harder and harder to locate. Tried on my phone and just got sent in an endless circle of bullshit.

Sooo, I know this isn't a GOG thread... buuuut, I have $10 to spend there, what should I get?
Of the things that work on GOG the way they're supposed to, and may not anywhere else, Jade Empire and Dracula 1-3 are the first things that come to mind.

Do you have any particular kind of game you're interested in? Especially ones you don't mind being kinda outdated?

Yeah, Jade Empire is on the top of my list. I'm really open to anything "good", i guess. I'd lean towards RPG or some sort of Co-Op game and I can play with my wife.

Well, if you're into BioWare RPGs, GOG has Baldur's Gate, though the Enhanced Editions are available pretty much anywhere these days. There's also Neverwinter Nights, and beyond BioWare, there's Planescape: Torment. I've heard good things about Septerra Core, but the Steam version is bundle fodder. If you want to go really old school, there's always the old Might and Magics, Ultimas, etc.

Another thing to consider, especially for old games on GOG, is that even if there are Steam versions, sometimes the GOG versions come with extras: soundtracks, digital artbooks, etc. If there's anything where you've found the designs or music for particularly interesting, and you happen to be into that sort of thing, checking into the GOG version might not be a bad call.

You can select orders from there.

It shows date ordered and date delivered.

I kept my emails really simple:

Select an item from the order or chose a different order (button labeled Choose different order)

Select Issue: More Order Issues

Select issue details: Other order or Question issue

Short Summary: Item did not get delivered in 2 days with Prime membership.

Then click Email option at bottom

Additional information: Ordered on December 1st (Monday) Received on December 5th (Friday)

This is not the 2 days shipping promised to Prime members.

Why am I paying for this service and not getting what is promised?

Just remember Sat and Sun do not count for the 2 day guarantee.

Hmm, it's not exactly what you're looking for, but you might also want to consider The Chronicles Of Riddick: Assault On Dark Athena. It's no longer available on Steam (unless you're willing to buy a key off of Gamestop). And even if it were, it comes with really nasty DRM. GOG is pretty much the way to go if you are interested in that game (as it is DRM-Free on GOG).

It's currently only 50% off, but I would be stunned if it didn't get a bigger discount at some point during the sale. It's been hitting 80% off pretty regularly in recent sales.

Thanks for reminding me of this. I've heard a lot of good things about that game, but always forget about it...I'll keep an eye on it throughout the sale.

Not going to lie don't mind having other distribution systems/websites other than steam. Nuuvem, GMG, Gamersgate and Amazon (when Tony was around) sometimes kicks Steam butt on sales and Origin has games you can't get on Steam. Uplay is on most Steam games so if it is better priced on Uplay I will buy there. It is all about competition and where to get the cheapest price the CAG way of life.

well, uPlay was implemented for the goods and benefit of all gamers. Get used to it. Embrace it. Love it! :D/

http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/892744-Why-Uplay-and-DRM-is-beneficial-to-us-gamers-Forums
I have no problem w/ using other services like Origin + UPlay.

The problem IMHO is this - UPlay is nowhere as great as Steam's service. Not even close. For doing game back-ups, installs, updates, Friends Tools, any Other community Tools, screnshot-taking, and other features - Steam kicks everybody's butt by a mile. Hell, UPlay ain't even in Origin's league, for crying out loud. And we all know Origin is light years behind Steam.

I just wish Ubi + EA would put a lot more features + stuff into their game-client services, if they're actually really serious about supporting PC gaming. Valve is certainly is extremely serious about supporting their fan-base.

EDIT:

Oh, yes - Steam's sales ain't like they used to be, in many instances. Competitors like GMG, Gamersgate, and Amazon (when Tony was around) were really taking a nice chunk out of me buying from Steam. Heck - I didn't buy anything from Steam's Autumn Sale, since I thought this past sale was quite disappointing. Nuuvem seems to be stepping up of late (especially during that last Steam Sale), even though I still ain't bought from them.

When Tony was around - he had either trend-setting deals or was price-matching Steam; and when he did either, that was enough to make me swing Amazon's way. Since Tony's gone - seems like I'm not buying anywhere even close to what I was at Amazon; it seems way more scattered on where I'm buying games.

I'd probably buy more Ubi games on Steam, if on any UPlay Forced games they'd disable CEG on their Steam-versions; or they went the other route + just disabled forcing UPlay. I don't see the need for two DRM's on Steam-versions (CEG + UPlay) from Ubi to be forced. If it's possible that I can avoid that multiple-DRM nonsense and the prices b/t the two versions ain't much difference, then I will.

Of course, like you said - price is a major factor. If UPlay version's very expensive, yet Steam's ultra-cheap - being a CAG, it's possible I might buy a Steam version - if I am looking for the game ASAP.

Some Steam-versions of G4WL-required games could be ran w/out Steam going - i.e. GTA4 + EFLC; the old version of RF:G (before its Steam-update).

Also, there are those instance where there's PC games are on another service not on Steam - so you're going to have to go elsewhere if there's a particular game not on Steam. A lot of EA's titles since BF3 are Origin-exclusive - so games that I own like Crysis 3, Dead Space 3, NFS: MW (Criterion), NFS: Rivals; and other games I want like Dragon Age: Inquisition - I'm gonna have to go w/ Origin there b/c we have no choice.

you have never contacted Valve customer service, have you? :wall:

For posterity:

Daily Deal (77) metacritic

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II 66% off $14.99 $5.09

Van Helsing II Complete 66% off $19.99 $6.79

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing Franchise Pack 66% off $39.99 $13.59

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing 66% off $14.99 $5.09

Note: The franchise pack appears to only have one DLC for VH:II. The OST and Pigasus DLC are not included, according to the store page.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little sad that the first one is still sitting in my library un-played.

Valve does have some questionable customer service.  The problem is as they've grown as a company financially they haven't grown physically.  It's still a relatively small operation.

eh.. so use that financial growth to hire more help. Basically you imply that Valve has the means to improve their customer service quality but chose not too? And all the excess profit are used to expand Emperor Gaben waist line?
