Surprisingly The Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck Pt. 2

Probably cause LotR was 1500 pages shrunk to 3 movies, while the Hobbit is 300 pages stretched to 3 movies..
But it also draws from the LOTR appendices and fleshes out stuff like the White Council vs the Nefromacer that took place "off page" in the Hobbit book. So it's far more than just the 300 pages of text.

Personally, I liked the hobbit movie a lot. Not as much as the LOTR movies, but still thought it was a great flick.

I liked the Necromancer plot so if theres more of that in the sequel then I'll catch it on dvd. For the moment I want to watch American Hustle and Wolf of Wall Street.

Im actually excited to go see Escape Plan tonight.

Monsters Univerisity - 3/5 - Had it moments but like another poster said, a lot more could have been done with it

Kick-Ass 2 - 4/5 -I'm a hardcore fan, so when the digital version came out I bought it. I just love it. Can't wait for the Blu for the extra stuff

Six Days, Seven Nights - 3/5 - Man, Danny Trejo with no mustache is so weird! Still a good movie though!

Speaking of Danny Trejo, apparently he made a sequel to Bad Ass called Bad Asses and Danny Glover is his friend that helps him clean up LA. I gotta see this as I liked Bad Ass.

Frozen was good.  Not the epic critics were making it out to be but good.

As for Monsters University -- is was ok. . .for the last 20 minutes or so.  I think Pixar needs some fresh ideas because lately they've been on a huge decline.

yeah, Monsters University really felt like a cash cow for Pixar.  Very little originality in it.

On the talk of the Hobbit, I agree that 3 movies is too much (I think 2 is pushing it) but I'm still excited for it.

Lone Survivor - 3/5 - Marky Mark done pretty well. He tremble down the rocky mountain 3 times and yet he still alive with lot of bruise and blood all over him.

Glad someone liked Kick-Ass 2 as much as me. Don't know how anyone expected anything different. It was great.

A lot of movies on tv now.

Oceans Eleven - Mr Clooney and co. This is the best of the 3 and a very smooth fun film. Always enjoy watching it.

Exit through the giftshop 4/5

This film is a documentary on some of the most famous street artist in the world. A film maker follows a whole bunch of artist and becomes a street artist himself. The film is well narrated and there is a fair amount of humor from Banksy. My wife enjoyed it and she is not into graffiti at all I think it is a much watch.

The Campaign - 4/5 - I always though the movie looked incredibly awful, but I enjoyed it for the most part. Some really funny scenes. And Pugs.

About Time was nice.

Jumped into some more Studio Ghibli movies this weekend. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. Spirited Away blew me away with how playful it was with its world. Princess Mononoke I wish I saw when I was a child. It would have been like a serious Mulan. I mean decapitations and limbs falling? Wasn't expecting that. The idea of no clear good vs evil would have been a good lesson. Too long in my opinion though. Monkeys are pointless in the movie too. Cut those scenes and it would have been better.

Assault on Wall Street- 3/5 - Director Uwe Boll at his finest, I enjoyed the film much more then I should have. Dominic Purcell (Prison Break) made it a fun film.

Argo:  4/5.

Great beginning to the film, lost its luster in the middle (which went on a little too long I think) but the last 30 minutes was great to watch.  For $3.96, I'm satisfied.

The Hobbit Extended Version in 3D.

Liked the added scenes, especially the songs.
How much is added? I have and love the extended trilogy editions, but my girlfriend bought me the vanilla Hobbit for my birthday even though I had told her I wanted to wait till the extended edition came out. May have to pick this up if it goes on sale.

Not nearly as much as the LOTR movies. I think it was 13 minutes of new stuff, where as the LOTR movies had 30-50 minutes each added back. I still enjoy it more than the theatrical though for the extra songs etc.

The Heat. It was just alright. A few funny bits but mostly pretty bland.

Ah, that's not as drastic then. Still, I'll likely pick it up at a decent price.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter - 1.5/5. Fun little flick, didn't like the segway into all the historical stuff, though. Action ranged from really cool to super cheesy.

Paranormal Activity 4 - 1.5/5. Yeah, these movies aren't too good. Wonder how they'll wrap it up with 5.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Real3D - 4/5 Was my 2nd viewing. Much better than the HFRs.

Frozen - 5/5 - Very touchy between sister's true love. I'm going to see in 3D since I missed the early showtime at AM.

Out of Furnace - 3/5 - Not bad. I thought Bale would be something badass but not.

What's everyone's fave/top ten films of the year?

Was thinking of making a separate topic for it but screw it, also lets be civil people and not bash other peoples choices.

Of all the movies I've seen this year, I'd say Iron Man 3 and 12 Years A Slave are my films of the year.

Really liked:

Pacific Rim

Man of Steel

Fast and Furious 6

Star Trek Into Darkness

Frozen

Was better than expected:

The Last Stand

World War Z

The Wolverine

The Hobbit 2

Worse than expected

Out of The Furnace

Evil Dead

Way worse than expected:

Gravity

Iron Man 3

The Lone Ranger

Texas Chainsaw 3D

Damn, out of the furnace that bad? Was looking forward to watching that.

Thats a decent list though I'd switch iron man 3 with fast and furious 6 but I like Shane Black movies.

It wasn't bad, just wasn't as good as I was expecting.

It's worth watching.

I've tried to convince myself IM3 isn't as bad as I keep thinking it is, but then I keep remembering horrible things from it.
