Surprisingly The Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck Pt. 2
I've never understood the gripes personally, I really like all 3 Pirates movies. *shrugs* The 2nd one may be my favorite of the bunch actually.
I couldn't stand the second, never bothered with the third, but will probably watch the new one with the girlfriend when it comes out.

I just felt like it dragged on and on; the barnacle pirates were a downgrade too.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.

The weakest of the three movies, but I still enjoy it. Just a bit bloated. They should have cut Chow-yung Fat's character and just started the movie with them already on a ship on their way to go after Jack, and cut the stupid scenes with Jack hallucinating. Without those it would be just as good as the first two IMO.

Let Me In.

For once an English remake of a foreign film that gets it right by barely changing anything. I still prefer the original, but people who watch the remake only aren't really missing anything major, unlike most remakes.

Water for Elephants - Pretty good although the main antagonist is limited. He comes across as Hans Landa as a ring master. Maybe a bit more out of control. Still, I kept expecting him to reveal himself as the "Jew Hunter".
Easy A, thought the movie was very enjoyable.
I just saw it a couple of days ago and I liked it too.

I saw The Other Guys and Black Dynamite all were enjoyable in their own way.

Rango - 1/10

Kept expecting the gecko to open his eyes. The beginning was artsy fartsy with jokes that tried too hard and ugly ass, wild west characters.

Great animated movie. Falls in that popular genre of pandering to young kids while giving adults some subtle inside humor.

One scene in particular made me literally lol.

4/5 stars!

It's a perfect copy, but that's why it's terrible. It felt like it was missing the heart in certain sequences/sport that the original had. Also, I didn't care for the actor/character that they transitioned Oskar into. It's difficult to say, but it felt as though Oskar behaved or had different motivations to his American counterpart.

I didn't get any sense of different motivations. I did prefer the actors for Owen/Oskar and Abby in the original though, which is why I still prefer it. But I liked the remake and would recommend it to friends and family who won't watch subtitled movies. But yeah, everyone else should watch the original.

The Kite Runner.

I read the book last week. Movie is a very good adaptation, though they made a few small changes that changed tone of a few scenes for no apparent reasons. I was pleasantly surprised the movie was subtitled and not all in English.

Rubber - 4/5 - I went into the movie not knowing much besides a tire kills people. I remember saying during the introduction of Robert our murdering tire how stupid this film is. How can a dumb tire which weighs nothing murder people. I had to of said "this is stupid" with a chuckle about a half dozen times in the first 10 minutes of the movie. The joke of the tire murdering people is pretty ridiculous but entertaining. What really sets the movie apart is the self-awareness of the film. You get some great comedic moments from the sheriff and the crowd watching which really makes the movie extremely entertaining. The whole "No Reason" introduction really sets the tone for the movie. There is no reason for this movie to be made and there is no reason for you not to watch it.

Defendor - Much better than the similar Special with Michael Rapaport. Really enjoyed the plot and pacing. Loved Woody Harrelson's acting and Kat Dennings is always breath taking/stunningly beautiful.
Watched my third zombie movie ever, Planet Terror. Loved it as much as Shaun of the Dead.
If that's your third, and those are two of them, there's a serious problem here. You need to watch the first three Romero movies, ASAP.

@crunchb3rry Saw the first Romero movie early in the morning, hosted by Elvira (amazed that she still looks like that at age 60!). That one I liked, but it'll be a while before I watch the one where you can't kill the freakin' zombies because of some magical curse.

The Kids are All Right.

Very good and extremely well acted. With it, I've finally seen all this past year's best picture nominees. Quite a strong year and I enjoyed all 10 of the nominated films. I'd rank them somewhere along the lines of:

1. Inception
2. Black Swan
3. Winter's bone
4. The King's Speech
5. 127 Hours
6. The Social Network
7. The Kids are All Right.
8. The Fighter
9. True Grit
10. Toy Story 3

Pride and Prejudice. The version from a few years back with Keira Knightley.

Really outstanding adaptation. Very true to the book, and very well acted.

I liked both that and Atonement. I'm starting to prefer chick flicks to macho action movies. I just got Morning Glory from Netflix. Yeah, go ahead and laugh!

The Man From Earth

Great story, I like that this movie was filmed entirely in one room of a house and featured only dialogue. A movie like that would normally bore me to death, but this was so interesting that it kept me into it the entire time.

London Boulevard - 3/5 - Fairly decent british crime film. Pretty much has everyone from Britain in it. Colin Farrell, Keira Knightly, Ray Winstone David Thewlis, Eddie Marsan from Alice Creed, Anna Friel from Pushing Daisies, Stephen Graham who is Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire, and a few others.

Colin Farrell is let out of prison, wants to keep his life straight and ends up taking a job as security for Keria Knightly who is being harassed by the paparazzi. Colins friend is still very much a gangster and wants Colin back into the game. Ray Winstone like always steals the show. Very entertaining at times and worth a watch.

Drive Angry - 3/5 - I was surprised about this one. Either I didn't pay attention the to trailers much or they didn't mention at all the story but the movie ended up being very different than what I was expecting. I was totally off guard when the movie started with its supernatural + religious story line. Normally I am not a fan of anything religious but since this movie was aware of the joke throughout with some of the ridiculous moments, its was a funnier movie than I was expecting. William Fichtner was hysterical as The Accountant and with Amber Heard who always looks great...it was a pretty decent ride. (ride get it....wah wah)

Anyone see the redband trailer to US, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? I was a huge fan of the first movie but the second and third were a bit too much....pretty bland. Anyways this is probably my favorite trailer in a long time due to the amazing editing to the Led Zeppelin Cover by Trent Reznor.

NSFW RED BAND TRAILER:

That's because the 2nd and 3rd ones were lower budget and filmed as a TV mini-series.

They edited them way down to turn them into theatrical movies after the surprise success of the first film. So they don't flow as well as movies as the first one does.

Touching the Void - 10/10

Second time seeing this. Inspirational

127 days - 10/10

Inspirational but... hard to watch.

The Big Hit - 2/10

Walhberg kills me...

Unbreakable - 3/10

It's like a bad joke, you wait and wait for the punch line and then when it gets there it blows.

The Hangover Part II - Pretty enjoyable, but nowhere near as funny as the first one. The characters and writers clearly tried way too hard to be funny, but it did have it's moments. 2/5.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - Very meh and passable. There were loads of plotholes and useless characters/situations. Music was of course good, but that was about it's only saving grace. 1/5.

X-Men: First Class - The best blockbuster movie I've seen since Return of the King. Every actor nailed their respective parts down. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender stole the show here. I also laughed more at
Wolverine's "Go fuck yourself"
than any joke in Hangover 2. 5/5.

Wall Street 2 - 3/5 - not as good as the first. Its a really solid movie but the introduction of the whole subprime mortgage really took me out of it. I never though the characters were anything but characters and having that bit of realism bothered me quite a bit in the movie. Besides that I thought Carey Mulligan was great. I never had a chance to see her in An Education since it seemed like an uninteresting film despite its Academy Award nominations
