Surprisingly The Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck Pt. 2
Skyline - Goddamn did I want this to be good but it wasnt.....action was pretty cool but this movie went NO WHERE. Also, WTF was that ending?
movie looked like it had promise from the trailers until you realize it's a movie about nothing that explains nothing and ends in the middle.

also, my friend summed it up pretty well by saying we're being attacked and eaten by vajayjays :p

Looks like they just tried to get Skyline done and out there before Battlefield LA or whatever it's called. That movie looks awesome.
I love that this was basically an encouraging diss.
Haha.. an underhanded compliment right?

Toy Story 3. Very good. Was a tad let down as so many people had told me it was by far the best of the series, but after seeing it I'd say I liked the first 2 more. And Up remains my favorite Pixar movie.

Get Him To The Greek - Pretty damn hilarious, the most suprising performance was Sean "Puffy" Combs he was pretty damn funny!

Death At A Funeral (US remake) - I love the British one and this one was just as good.

Harry Potter sucked IMO, I also don't follow the series nor the books so I was lost.

The Last Airbender was totally gay.

As much as I hate to admit it, The Town was a pretty good movie but the ending sucked, I needed closure on Bennifer!

A buddy of mine evidently loved this movie and now he won't shut up about it. So I guess I need to see it too.
Finally watched Moon yesterday. Extremely good movie, really should have got more exposure than it did.
That movie depressed the shit out of me. Excellent movie though. Sam Rockwell is so undervalued.

The House of the Devil - Was looking forward to a horror treat based on the reviews and word of mouth I had heard. What ended up transpiring can be summed up nicely in one word, boring. Pass on this one.

The Terminator- 4.5/5
A Fistful of Dollars- 4/5
White Men Can't Jump- 3/5
Home Alone 2- 5/5
Home Alone 3- 3.5/5
History of the World Part 1- 3.5/5
.....I feel like I'm forgetting something

Edit: Scrooged- 3/5

The Expendables - Plot holes aside, this was fun. I rather enjoyed it. Lots of explosions, knife throwing, great one liners, fun, etc. If you're going to into this movie, then you basically know what to expect. Best pseudo-cheesy action flick to come out since the mid to late 90s. If Hollywood made more movies like this, rather than 80% of the crap they put out, then they'd be doing a hell of a lot better and filling more theatre seats.

Jonah Hex - Boy was that a mess. Josh Brolin is a great actor, and is truly Jonah, but the rest of the movie is too unfocused and flounders all of the place. Not to mention that I was truly confused for the first 15 minutes or so of this incredibly short film, as the director lacked any vision or storytelling prowess to give us the protagonist/antagonists' back story in any coherent fashion. Megan Fox truly puts her acting chops on displays and makes it quite apparent that her best roles will be as a hooker/prostitute, preferably of the good-hearted variety. You take her out of the film and you have the same film with perhaps 1 less plot hole. I really wanted to like this free, but other than it being a free Redbox rental, couldn't get behind it anyway.

Rampage - It's Uwe Boll: enough said. It's meant to suck and it pretty much does. A director who gets one too many chances, even with non-video game source material, and keeps putting out drivel by exploiting elves or some magical substance to get these things made. An utterly unfocused film with editing that makes a music video seem like a slow trodging Oscar piece. Uwe Boll has finally realized that the film medium can be used to get social commentary out to the masses and tries to over indulge himself in the matter while hitting us over the head with all kinds of environmentalist nonsense. TL: DR; movie's way too preachy for being what should be just a revenge filled fantasy.

It's called a slow burn... You take a good amount of time to craft the characters and setting, and then drop the bomb with ten minutes left. Ti West made an insane throwback to 80s horror, and it really felt like it was something you'd hop into the video store back in the late eighties, grab with a few other horror films, get a pizza and a bottle of coke, and have a Friday night alone. I personally loved it and can't find much to complain about, to be honest.

So, there's two sides of the blade. I say definitely check it out if you're a fan of eighties horror that's not a straight up B-slasher.

I Saw the Devil

Sherlock Holmes - I liked it, especially the ending.

Cop Out - Awful, avoid at all costs

The Road - Fantastic! A Must See

80s horror was much better than this film lets on. This movie can be summed up in one word: boring. I sat there and kept hoping and saying it would get better but it didn't. I predicted everything that was going to happen. Just because a director can make a movie nowadays that looks and sounds like it's from the 80s doesn't make it a good movie.

You can keep saying boring, but I can't agree with that at all. It was a slow movie, it was supposed to be. It wouldn't have been as effective if ten minutes into the movie shit started popping out and forced you to try and be scared; it would have failed. Tell me, how else should a film about a girl watching a quiet house unfold? I mean, just curious, are you jaded by modern horror that gives you a scare a minute, or severed limbs strewn everywhere? I'm just curious, as a lot of older horror films are slow as well. In Alien, you don't see the actual Xenomorph until well into an hour in the film. In Halloween, it starts off with a nice scene, but then becomes quiet and haunting until, again, around half-way through. fuck, have you even seen Audition? If not, skip it... You'll be bored to tears. Again, I think West did superbly with a slow build-up that ended with a bang.

Expendables was okay, between Rourke's, Lundgren's, and Stallone's lines I couldn't keep a straight face just because of their voices but it was okay.

I hope you didn't have to pay to see Jonah Hex, I could tell that movie was going to be trash and not even worth pirating. Plus Megan Fox is a little liberal trailer whore so I avoid anything she does.

Agreed on all 3, except the only funny part in Cop Out was with Sean William Scott in the back of the car. That part was actually really funny, but it was because of Sean.

Got Jonah Hex on one of those Redbox codes. Wouldn't have paid for it otherwise.

romancing the stone - 7/10
I saw this on netflix instant and decided to watch it after reading the summary. My girl loved it and I enjoyed it. Michael Douglas..lol
there's a sequel called jewel of the nile but I have no interest watching that.

Inception.

Never got a chance to see it a 2nd time in the theater. 2nd viewing just made me like it even more. Simply a masterpiece. Will end up very high on my all time favorite movie list after more viewings for sure.

Get him to the greek - Now, I'm all for cussing, but the last thing this movie left in my brain was that it was constant cussing and the comedy seemed forced. I can't remember if the cussing is an accurate description of the movie and I'm not going to watch it again to confirm.

Jonah Hill did an okay job, I just could not look away from his enormous double chin which they tried to mask with a 5 o clock shadow.

I find Russel Brant(sp?) annoying, both due to personality in every movie he is in and his accent.

Puff Daddy did a pretty good job I think because the only time I really laughed is when he said anything.

What I don't get is why is Jonah Hill, the waiter from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, now back in New York or w/e the fcuk he's at working at some record label, and Russel Brant is the same shitty rockstar? Then they throw in the Sarah Marshall cameo/attempted forced joke.

I'm not going to research this, but is Hill playing the same character in Greek as he did in Forgetting Sarah Marshall?

^^^I saw Get Him to the Greek at a brew and view. When it started of I thought "Great they are trying too hard" but as it progressed it got better. (I am not sure if it was the booze). Hill is not supposed to be the same character.
Hill is not supposed to be the same character.
Yeah, it's just more of that Apatow "comedy troupe" bullshit. But it definitely confuses the viewer when you've got a character not playing a role he should have been playing that would have made 1000% more sense, given the previous character was a hardcore fanboy of the musician guy.

I will definitely skip that movie...unless Paul Rudd is in it. That guy is fucking awesome.
Yeah, it's just more of that Apatow "comedy troupe" bullshit.
You know, I don't think I like any of the Apatow movies except 40 year old virgin. It is a shame since Undeclared is one of my favorite TV shows of all time.

Ok...Just got back from seeing Black Swan. This is somewhat a difficult film to review but I will try to do it without spoilers.

First off, this is not a masterpiece. Aronosky's other film the Wrestler was a better movie but to be fair the subject matter for the ...Black Swan is much more difficult to tackle. It owes a big time debt to Rod Serling but spiritually its closer to the Night Gallery and less to the Twilight Zone.

The first half was weaker because there were scenes of melodrama that were a tad heavy handed. The 2nd half improves and you can feel the tension ratched up a few notches. There is a lot of talent on display here from all the actors to the director. Ultimately though, how one judges the film will depend completely on how one empatizes with Natalie Portman's character; Since everyone has different backgrounds, everyone will have a different levels of sympathy for the ballerina.

So do I recommend this film? I would say yes. But I find myself respecting this film more than I enjoyed it.

Check out Freaks & Geeks. That was a masterpiece. Even Apatow admits openly that that was the best thing he ever did and will never top it. A shame it got canceled. They could have really done so much with that show, except maybe they would have been limited because Lindsey was a few years older than Sam and probably would have been wrote out.

I actually don't like Freaks and Geeks. I know a lot of the cast is the same as Undeclared, but I found it boring.

Undeclared felt like someone videotaped me Freshman Year and put it on TV. I used to make out with the chick that lived next door until I found out she had a boyfriend. I even told my roommate when the guy shows up I imagine the "Mortal Kombat" music would play and he would try to kill me...Of course that was in 1997 and the series did not air until 2001. Maybe Judd was hanging out on my floor that day.

Jay and Silent Boy Strike Bob - Not as enjoyable as the rest of the View Askew Universe, that or it just hasn't aged as well, but still and good fun movie. No matter, it still gets placed under Clerks/Clerks2/Mallrats/Chasing Amy/Dogma

The fourth pokemon movie(I don't remember the name) - awful

Heartbreaker - So we were originally supposed to see Black Swan but we got there and the theater was already full so we ended up seeing this. It's a french romantic comedy that for 95% of it is equally entertaining to guys. It has the usual predictability but it has some great characters and comedic moments. Watch it before it inevitably gets remade in America, *sigh*.
