Survivor Redemption island Feb. 16th on CBS official discussion thread

I'm looking forward to it for sure. It'll be interesting to see if the other players let Rob and Russell stay on past the first tribal or not.

Pretty good episode, probably one of the most interesting first episodes in survivor history.

The secret agent guy is a total ass and ruined their plans to get rid of Rob. I hope they vote him out early.

Kristina is even better at finding immunities than Russel. I can't tell how old she is. She seems like she's in her late 30s-early 40s, but her boobs (which are huge, but saggy) give her away. She's hot with her boy briefs too.

The Purple team seems sharp, as they right away want to vote out Russell.

Even if they try to get rid of Russel and Rob, they could hang on like Cockroaches winning duels in Redemption Island.

Edit: Wow. She's 46. She looks pretty good for 46. Yve last season was also pretty hot and was older.

Phillip is a straight up idiot and has NO idea how to play the game. Even if he didn't want to be aligned with Christina and Francesca, he shouldn't really have ratted them out. What would happen if his head were on the chopping block and he needed "friends" to stay? No one will side with him now. They'll tell him what to do until he's no longer useful.
Gutsy call by Christina not using the idol though. Smart of her not to give it to Rob either. With redemption island though, you can afford to take risks like that I suppose.
Christina's boobs are fantastic. I don't think they are all that saggy, they're just huge and gravity takes a toll on them.
Anyway, Phillip won't make it to the merge I don't believe and probably neither will Christina. Hopefully Fran can come back - she's got a good attitude and seems pretty smart.
Also, the look Russell gave Rob after winning the challenge = priceless!

I didn't think it was all the gutsy. She ended up voting Fran so she knew if it was split she would have that advantage especially since Phillip gave away his vote during the discussion. Granted it is all semantics. The idol will flush their next tribal and she will get voted the week after that.

Boston Rob's quote at the voting box was just priceless and so true.
"It feels so good to play with you amateurs. You give away so much. You dont even know when to keep you mouth shut. Thanks for the memories."

A good start to hopefully a good season.

P.S. Christina is far from attractive. Big Boobs (saggy ones at that) != being attractive. Just saying.

I guessed that she switched her vote to Fran, but who voted Phillip other than Fran? It was Fran (4), Kristina (3), Phillip (2). So, in essence, it was a gamble for Kristina because it *could* have been a tie had the 2nd vote for Phillip not been cast.

Boston Rob is so over rated, imo. He talks smack, but he only made the finals once out of his three plays and that was during all-stars when his (now) wife was able to help him out to get there. I know Russell rubs people the wrong way, but you can't argue with his ability to get to the finals. He may be the best player to have never won.

Regarding boobage - I'm older, so I don't have a problem with them hanging down a bit. It happens with age. You just accept it and move on. On the whole, she is NOT super attractive or anything.
Before I waste bandwidth (free episodes on CBS.com), did they stick with the "1 challenge" per episode (reward and immunity)?
There was only the immunity challenge in the 1st episode. Considering they'll have to start making time for the Redemption Island challenge next week, I would assume that reward and immunity challenges will become one at some point.

GG, 2DMention! :applause:

'Idol' crush: 'Survivor' premiere lowest-rated ever

I seriously think a prerequisite casting requirement for Survivor and Big Brother the last few years must be borderline mental illness. Philip is straight-up bonkers.

Wonder if it'll be a good time for Probst to bail and take over for Regis, though I still hope we get a Celebrity Survivor first.

I think Kristina is really attractive, but then again, I dig the big sagbags and birthin' hips.

I agree that was one of the best opening episodes of Survivor ever! Phillip is an ass and I think borderline crazy. I wonder if he really was a federal agent. They kept putting a question mark after his job: "Former Federal Agent?" Maybe he was a park ranger but got fired after telling his boss how to chop wood.

Wonder if it'll be a good time for Probst to bail and take over for Regis, though I still hope we get a Celebrity Survivor first.

Wow, that would be nuts. Most pampered celebrities wouldn't and couldn't do it. Maybe D or E list celebrities would. They pulled off celebrity apprentice, so anything's possible.

Lowest ratings ever for a Survivor premier? Dang. It was one of the best opening episodes in Survivor history as far as I'm concerned. But the ratings have been sagging gradually like Kristinas boobs, haven't they?

Much less exciting episode this time. I don't see how everybody got all butthurt about Matt congratulating the other team. The NFL guy even said it was stupid. What? NFL teams do that at every game.

I was also disappointed that they didn't do the Redemption duel in this episode.
Call me if Russell and Rob are ever both voted out. Jesus Christ, CBS.
Agreed. Russell is a fucking piece of shit and it's time CBS showed him the door. It was interesting the first time, but three straight seasons of his bullshit has worn thin.

I'm glad Boston Rob is in this season—it's nice to watch someone who actually knows how to play the game. I feel like the past few seasons (minus Heroes vs. Villains), and last season in particular, the contestants have been making really amateur moves, as though they've never watched Survivor.
I'm glad Boston Rob is in this season—it's nice to watch someone who actually knows how to play the game.
Whaaaaaaa?
In his three previous tries, the dude only finaled once and we know why.
Other than that, he's never even made the jury.
Rob starts strong but he gets over-confident and it bites him in the arse.
I look forward to that happening once his little "star struck" group no longer feels that way toward him.

Edit to add: Last night's episode was pretty slow. I don't understand how congratulating the opposite team earns you a ticket out. I think Rob just saw that as a way to paint him as "bad" since he was wanting to break up the little duo anyway. He figured he could sway Andrea back into his little flock much easier than Matt. We'll see.

Yep, and I'm pretty over Rob too--what is this, like 4 seasons of Survivor, 2 of Amazing Race, and a bunch of other misc reality shit?

It was more than just congratulating. They wanted the couple of Andrea and him broken up. Andrea performed better in the challenges so thats why they kept her instead of Matt.

The preview for next week (the last portion of it) leaves me going "how the fuck is Russell going to stay if they go to vote with only the 3 of them and he doesn't have an idol"

That's exactly what it is. Those other idiots are just so starstruck that they're doing whatever is in Rob's best interest but are too dumb to see it. Looks like that girl might be pissed enough to clue them in and they can get rid of Rob. Getting rid of him is the best thing they can do, so they can function as a real tribe instead of a bunch of groupies. With everybody breathing easy as long as FBI guy and that girl that won the immunity would be the sacrificial lambs if they ever did have to go to tribal on a post-Rob tribe. The other side will crumble due to Russell's hijinks and give them an advantage.

Just watched both episodes. This looks like a good season. Philip is mentally insane and I love it. I'm really wondering if they'll keep Russell around because they know he won't win in the end or if they'll vote him out the first chance they get. I like that hillbilly guy, he's pretty funny and I was shocked he found the idol by dumb luck.

Nice to see Russell voted out but I'm sure he'll win on redemption island.

I thought the person who won redemption island is back in the game? Why didn't they send Matt back to his tribe?

That firefighter - what's her name? Julie? She's ugly and looks like a shemale body builder.

Nope, the person who wins the duel gets to remain on RI. They'll keep running duels until an unspecified point later in the game the overall victor will return. I imagine it'll be at a point after the merge and when they stop sending people to RI.

Man, great swerve in editing. They really had me convinced he could pull it off.

Wow, that's real pressure. They won't get to take part in camp life and tribe dynamics if they do it that way, so it could hurt them.

I guess it makes sense, since that would extend the season if they kept putting people back in.

Lol, I think CBS did that on purpose. I hope he loses on Redemption Island and has to go home that early in the game and sit there sulking in the dreaded back row on reunion night.

The Purple team is just dumb. Why kill your numbers by throwing a challenge to eliminate Russell when you have a solid 6... Let alone vote him off vs one of the girls he was carrying along. Russell is an asset for challenges and there is ZERO way he was ever going to have numbers this season. Pure pointless. I hope to see none of the purple team winning this thing.

Yeah, throwing challenges is the curse of death for a tribe!

Disappointed Russell is out. That's gonna mean trouble for his girls. I really thought Julie was going to go along with the plan and blindside the man-sweater dude. Too bad.

I agree, throwing challenges always causes trouble. I think purple will implode once they have to start eating from the group of 6. What sweet revenge it would be if Russell can win at redemption and come back to dominate the game while purple goes home/jury.

At this point, even if I weren't a Russell fan, I'd want him to come back just because throwing challenges is so stupid.

I can't believe they threw that challenge. It makes NO sense - I hope they lose a few more and go into the merge down one vote and get picked off. You should ALWAYS try and win the challenges - the reward makes your team stronger and it eliminates a competitor. Idiots. I'm indifferent about Russell getting voted out - this is his 3rd season out of the last 4. It's enough already.

Since Julie backed out of it, it dropped the votes into a 3-way tie and in that case, Russell would have lost without question.

Any time you have a solid group that's 5 or 6 strong and they flush out the others that aren't in the group, the culling from that group always gets to be interesting when they're all trying to figure out who to dump from the game.

Usually to flush out the Immunity Idol or pull a blindside on someone that doesn't think they have a chance of being kicked out. When you have superior numbers, it makes even less sense than the lack of sense it normally has.

I agree, it's a little much on the Russell short bus already.

The other 2 seasons Russell was on I was rooting for him all the way. This time, not so much. It's enough Russell, you've already proven you'll never win, just hang it up. I was kinda happy that he got voted out, I wanna see him do a duel on RI. If he makes it all the way back into the game, then I'll start to root for him. Otherwise, I don't really care who wins at this point.

Throwing a challenge this early is really stupid to me. This is the one part of the game where numbers matter. Throw a challenge when you're up 4 people. This could give the orange tribe some momentum.

I thought it was really funny how much that Julie was smiling at Russell's 3. She was so happy she fucked them. She looks really odd to me, her face doesn't make sense.

I think that her having that shit eating grin was Russell finally realizing nobody on that tribe wanted him around except his duo of girls. Parvati was probably at home laughing at both Russell and the girls. That girl was 100x the player Russell thinks he is.

The other tribe, however, is so starstruck by Rob it's pathetic.

Looks like Survivor's got some life yet in it. Last season wast the worst (only watched the first of it).

I used to be upset when Russel didn't win last times, but now I could give a fuck who wins.

That was funny seeing Russell cry like a little bitch after he lost. They were smart to vote him out early.

Throwing a challenge is still a stupid idea.

He tried his best to get revenge and destroy his tribe. Too bad the person he leaked the info to was crazy Phillip.

Hey, they threw the last challenge and ended up winning anyways. I do think Phillip is great, though... And by that, I mean it's awesome watching him make a fool of himself at every turn.

Phillip is crazier than a shithouse rat. How he made it past the psych eval blows my mind. There's probably thousands of people that auditioned knowing they were passsed over just so CBS could have some batshit crazy fool on there for ratings.

Phil is super crazy, I'm wondering how much longer he'll be around. I like the previews for next week, looks like Russell's tribe is having some inner turmoil.

In other Survivor news, Richard Hatch is being ordered back to prison for AGAIN failing to pay taxes on the million dollars he won from the first season. He already served three years for not paying the first time. He was supposed to re-file his 2000 and 2001 taxes, but failed once again to pay. What an idiot. Or he really likes prison. Something tells me he's not going to win the current season of Celebrity Apprentice that he's on.

From last night's SNL - "And it won't be Helena Bonham Carter, there's going to be hella boning in your farter"

Decent episode tonight. Matt's on quite a streak, but the preview suggests he might lose and that worthless Cerita will be back in the game.

Merge next week, so Rob will be shaking in his boots.

Might be to create drama since you wouldnt think she would have a shot.

The cast this season is pretty much worthless.

I agree, not much of a cast this season, although Matt is fun to watch with all his wins on redemption.

Some hot chics this season though. Even the manly older women isn't bad to look at.

I guess the lack of posting this far into the day after Survivor aired shows how "meh" we all think this season is.

It was an amusing end to last night's episode, IMO.

I loved Dave's comment about it being a genius move to get rid of Matt. When in doubt, eliminate the wishy-washy potential flip person. I was surprised that Andrea went along with it though.

Instead of seeing Matt's confession for what it was, Rob had to see it as a personal affront.

I do feel sorry for Matt though. He may come out of this season of Survivor as a mass murderer.

You have to wonder now at what point they bring the redemption person back in again. I would say once they are down to 7, but maybe they will go as low as 5.

This season has been kind of a bore. I skipped last season and I'm not sure I'll be watching Survivor anymore after this is over.

Philip and Rob are the only two interesting players. Philip is totally nuts and Rob is actually good at reading people and playing strategically. Everyone else is just kind of there without much thought - like no one is playing the game. The bible talk is really annoying too. It must be so convenient to go through life and have someone to blame everything on. JESUS DOESN'T WATCH SURVIVOR.
