Survivor Redemption island Feb. 16th on CBS official discussion thread

Agree. This season is a bore. If it wasn't for Philip, this show would be borderline unwatchable. Most of these people have zero personality. I would be lucky if I could name half the cast. I still don't know the beach girls names and anyone on the other tribe besides Ralph and the butch firewoman that has a Cabbage Patch doll face.

The only reason I still kind of tune in is to watch each of the tribe, that was cocky to throw a challenge to get Russell out, picked off one by one by Rob's team.

To Survivor producers,
Please going forward don't mix veterans with new players. Also, make sure only to select people who apply to be on the show. Therefore, you can avoid players like the Beach girls.
Thanks,

Now I'm starting to agree that this season is kind of boring.

The tribals were totally predictable, and nothing really went on now that Rob's tribe is stonewalling the other tribe.

A 3 way redemption island battle could be interesting though.

Philip at least spices things up.

There are two things that could redeem this season:
1) Rob gets voted out before the final three
2) Philip turns out to be really smart but totally playing the fool

In one of Philip's interviews last night he sounded almost "normal" for lack of a better word and actually like he might be playing them a bit. I hope that's the case because I can't see anyone being as looney as he is in real life.

I LOL'd last night when Grant was taking food from the other group and in the voiceover he was talking about being his own man and not taking orders, then the very next scene he was back over by Rob after Rob had called his name.

I say this every week. I want them to all go down as a lesson to NEVER throw a challenge - it was stupid then and it is even stupider now. Wouldn't they have loved to have Russell when it was 6-5.

It's not going to last though - the 6 on Rob's team will never make it that far together. At some point the one on the bottom will flip or when it's down to 6-2 or something 4 of them will get together and get rid of Rob. I want him to win because he is playing the best game but he has become too controlling - the fish thing last night was crazy.

No way. Really? They didn't even apply? They do need to fix whatever is wrong in casting - I think they are suffering from what the Real World eventually turned into - let's just hire the hottest people we can find, throw in a couple of goalies to keep it real and film it. They need to get more people like Philip or Ralph or even that tiny bitchy chick they booted a few episodes ago (although she was pretty hot).

Agreed. Philip is genius if he's playing the fool that well.

I don't think Rob's syndicate will last much longer.

Did anyone notice how easy the challenge was for Grant when he won immunity? It was basically a football drill! He was super fast in the second 1/3 of the challenge.

I was surprised he had such an easy time with the puzzle.

Ralph could barely fit under the water trough. This season is really starting to make me tire of Survivor. I can't believe I'm actually more excited for Big Brother to start.

I'm glad Russell had the humility to at least admit he's done with Survivor, after losing fair and square. I just wish Rob would take a fucking hint and do the same no matter the outcome. The first time he was on, he was a prick. Then he had a kid and seemed to soften up. But he's a prick again and 10x more arrogant than he was the first time. He needs to go. I especially like seeing the looks of nervousness on his face when shit doesn't go his way. Like seeing Matt come back into the game and running over to dig up that nonexistent idol. Really wish Mike stayed, he deserved to win. I'm supporting Grant right now. Or even that older lady that has the balls to call a spade a spade. Loved her telling the other alliance they were all acting like a cult. Rob got nervous there.

Weird how one tribe worshiped Rob while the other screwed themselves by throwing a challenge to get rid of Russel.

The cast is bad but having the two of them ruined the season.
From last night's SNL - "And it won't be Helena Bonham Carter, there's going to be hella boning in your farter"
That's going on my tombstone.

I finally caught up after being 4 episodes behind including last night. It is a rather boring season, which is why I waited this long to catch up.

I agree with Jav on the whole God bit. It's so overbearing, I wish Matt would just leave already so I can stop having that rammed down my throat every week.

I don't even care who wins at this point, I just want that tribe to realize they need to vote out Rob. And Phil's racist rant was totally out of left field and was actually uncomfortable to watch. I felt really bad for Steve. Steve's right, Phil is batshit crazy.

Those three should have just said "You guys should vote Philip out because he never shuts the fuck up and hijacks every tribal with his diatribes, which means you'll never get to work the jury because you all won't get a chance to speak."

The only reason he stayed was because that dumbass buried his shorts. Causing what she wanted: Philip to self destruct a little more so his alliance genuinely considers cutting him loose. But then admitted to it out of white guilt, and let the other tribe realize Philip was manipulated into acting crazier than a shithouse rat as part of the small alliance's strategy.

Rob is smart to keep Phil around and take him to the final three. No one in the jury will vote for him because he's annoyed everyone so much.

Exactly. I think the rest of the old tribe probably feels the exact same. Phillip is mostly a lock for final 3 at this point.

Most likely she knew she was getting voted out and thats why she confessed. If they were really thinking of voting Phillip out they would have shown them talking about it.

Looks like the finale is the Sunday before my vacation (May 15th). I'm glad it doesn't fall during my vacation because I wouldn't be able to see it.

Doesn't seem like enough time - there are still 8 people left! I kind of want Rob to win - he's been the only one actually playing. I'd like to see his alliance hold up to get rid of the hick and the quarterback but knowing Survivor that will never happen. I think Rob is extremely unlikely to go to the finals even with the immunity idol in his pocket. His best chance is to find another idol, make it to the final 5 and then play the idol in consecutive tribal councils to get to the final 3. I think after the next 2 weeks the first chance they can they are going to get rid of Rob.

With Mike potentially gone (even if he does come back), the only one I want to win is either Grant or that girl that is kind of at the bottom of the ladder, the one that paired up with Matt in the beginning and actually does work around camp instead of just sunbathing all day. I can see her and Phillip in the finals, but she wouldn't be taking Phillip because of an easy win, she would because they kind of have this "I'll save your ass if you save mine" thing starting to form.

Maybe it'll be her, Phillip, and Grant in a final three. Once (more like IF) Rob is gone, those two other girls are going to be up shit creek without a paddle. I just hope they keep the foxy brunette girl around as long as possible though. ;)

One thing is clear - they cannot under any circumstances take anyone from Russel's tribe to the finals. Too many friends on the jury.

I just hope they wise up enough to vote Rob off. Even though the jury in the past few seasons vote for the person who doesn't piss them off, I think Rob has a good chance at winning anyway. I'm most excited for Phillip's off the wall questions/answers during the finale.

Those idiot girls will give Rob the win. All they need to do is complain to him they want Philip off enough where he won't suspect it and they can all blindside him without worrying about an idol being played.

Loved Steve bringing up the scumbag move Rob put on Lex.

"Voting off Rob would make sense but that means going with Andrea and Rob said we should vote her off". Those two girls (I dont even know their names) are pretty worthless. I would love to know what goes on when they cast this show.

If this shows you how disinterested I am this season, I noticed that when those two broads were standing side by side, one of their boxes was twice as wide as the other...

Maybe this season will get more interesting now that they have to eat each other up. I think the thing I'm most looking forward to is how the brunette will look all done up for the reunion show. She's the best looking girl in a while on Survivor, I'm glad she lasted this long.

I think she's the youngest survivor contestant.

The best looking survivor girls I think are

Erin from way back, and Amanda by far.

Amanda was so hot, they had to sensor his ass in later episodes!

Don't forget about Ami, Parvarti, Eliza, Jenna, and Heidi. But plus 1 to all those above particularly Amanda. Erin = teh boobz!

This is the wost season in a while. I hope these last few episodes make up for the lameness so far. I can't believe how dumb the two girls are for not at least entertaining Steve's idea. Rob has them blinded. I hope they never bring anyone back from previous seasons again(barring an all-returning all-stars type season).

I just got around to watching this weeks episode today and when Steve pitched the idea to the girls I thought they might smarten up and jump on it. Nope. Very stupid on their part to run tell Rob. Now he'll be watching them like a hawk. They could have had the biggest blindside of the game by voting out Rob. Instead of those two girls thinking they needed Andrea, they could have gone to Grant. I'm pretty sure he'd be willing, but like everyone else in that tribe, he's just sitting back and letting Rob run the show.

Now, who gets their throat cut first? Andrea because of her connection to Matt? Grant because he's a physical threat? We know that EVERYONE wants Phil with them in the final so I don't see him going anywhere.
Being that the 2 beach girls don't like Andrea and Andrea's tie to Matt, I would think she is the first to go easily.
This. Plus the fact that Rob would have to be stupid to let the women get the upperhand as far as numbers go. But I would REALLY like to see someone grow a pair and vote Rob off!

Looks like Rob's got this game in the bag.

The only way someone from redemption could win is if they'd get every immunity, which Matt could do.

Edit: Ami was a hot MILF, and I admit I had a crush on Elizabeth, but she's too much of a douche republican. Kristina was another hot MILF this season.

Finally this thread gets interesting with all the pics!

I think Rob is highly vulnerable - now is the time where the 6 of them will have to start thinking about who is going to the final 3. I think if Rob doesn't get rid of Grant right away then Grant will be the one to get rid of Rob. Blindsiding him is the only way to do it too because he has the immunity idol. If Rob makes it through next week then he will definitely be in the final 4 because of the idol (he has to play it when there are only 5 left otherwise it is useless). The girls are dumb but at some point they have to realize that there are 2 of them so only one more can go to the final 3 and everyone wants to bring Philip so....

I don't think he has it 100% in the bag. The past 4-5 seasons, the person that flew under the radar and didn't piss anyone off has won over the person that played the game the best. Then again, his tribe is still so starstruck by him, they may very well give him all their votes for taking them as far as he did or some shit. The other tribe may also vote for him because they'd be even more angry at the other people because they didn't flip on Rob. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Rob: "I need to win this to give a better life to my wife and kid."

Dude, your wife's a millionaire. fuck off. I hope Mike gets back in the game and wrecks Rob in finals. I'm hoping that's what Redemption Island will result in: the third player on the bench in finals.

As I said while I was watching it, that first $1.1 million must be running low.

He's not technically a millionaire. Doesn't winning $1 Million bump him up in the 50% tax bracket? So they've only got 500,000

I bet he makes lots of money on TV doing reality stuff. Didn't he get married on TV? I bet he made money on that.

Me too. i hope Mike wins redemption and gets put in the game toward the end. If anybody wins duels on redemption and gets in the top three, they will win, because the jury is from their tribe.

I will be so pissed if the person coming out of the loser camp goes straight to the finals. They would be virtually guaranteed the cheapest win ever.

yeah - it sucks. The best part about Survivor was the blindsides and the finality of getting voted out. All the suspense is gone.

Isn't Rob automatically in the final 4 now? He isn't allowed to use the idol to get to the final 3 so he has to play it at the next tribal council or he just loses it. What would you do if you were him if...

...he wins the next immunity challenge
- Don't tell anyone about the idol and don't play it?
- Tell someone about the idol and give it to that person (Philip?)?

...he does not win the next immunity challenge
- Tell everyone you just found the idol to lessen the blow when you play it
- Tell no one about the idol and use it at tribal council which could make him seem untrustworthy
- Tell no one about the idol and not use it

Well? What do you do? I think if I was Rob and I won the next immunity challenge I'd just throw the idol in the ocean. If I lost and had to play it I'd pretend I just found it that afternoon after pretending to look for it all afternoon and tell everyone.
I will be so pissed if the person coming out of the loser camp goes straight to the finals.
It's kind of crazy that half of the people that started the season are still in the game with only two episodes left.
We have four people on Redemption Island and five still in the "main" game, with three hours left. Under normal circumstances, we'd be down to only six people left before we had the final episode before the two-hour finale, where we'd drop one and go into the finale with five people. We'd drop two people across the time before the endgame, and end up with three.

We're three people heavy from where we should be at this point. Not sure how they're going to handle it, unless we have one last duel where we drop everyone except one winner, and that winner rejoins the tribe, making it six people. We drop one by the end of the hour, so we're back at five before the finale.

If Rob wins it again, he's a lock for final four, yes.

If he wins the next one, he should give the idol to Phillip, so he can get his "goat" to the final four without question. If he doesn't win the next one, he should "fake" finding it and then use it when needed.

Theres almost zero drama in every episode. They try hard to edit in a way to create drama but I'm doing alot of fast forwarding at this point.

In fact the discussion to vote out Phillip was probably staged.

I think this season is CBS's way of thanking Boston Rob for his years of service. His team was too easy on him and Russell's was too hard on him. What should have been a good season turned into the most boring in years. Redemption Island is dumb. I hope we never see it again.

Russell's tribe were idiots for voting him off so soon. In one respect, it's sweet justice that they were all eliminated. On the other hand, I'm not a Rob fan and why they didn't ditch him when they had a couple of people remaining in the other tribe is beyond me.

This hasn't been the most exciting of seasons, but Philip did give me a glimmer of hope last night. I mentioned previously in this thread that I hoped he was acting crazy just to get the ride to the finals. It looks like he might just be doing that. It would be so awesome if he's in the finals and he gets up there and blows everyone away with a very smart sounding speech and thoughtful answers. At this point, I'd either like to see he or Mike get it. Or, ABR (anyone but Rob).

Phillip can't be crazy, because they screen the shit out of people on these shows - he's gotta be playing them all. I'm rooting for him and Mike to win.

Philip's strategy may be a good one to get to the final 3 but he is going to have a hard time convincing everyone that it was all an act and that he was really playing a strategic game. That is the inherent flaw in the game - it is a total crap shoot to win. Russell should have won at least once before if not both times he played but the jury was just angry. I bet things would change a lot if they waited until the reunion show to actually vote.

Not really. They had the one season where that guy was normal halfway through and then turned into Colonel Kurtz and played with a machete all day long.

Naonka was crazier than a shithouse rat too.

It's likely they just take a cakewalk psych eval pre-game, then lose their marbles once they get into the game due to the pressure and paranoia.
