Tales from the Pawn Shop(s)!

i hit the pawn shop here about every other day.. no need to go every day.. I presume I get 80 percent of the great deals there.. and they far outweigh the likely 20 percent that i miss out on.

That's what I'm saying. You may get something like MvC2 one time, get FFVII the next time, but miss SMT Nocturne the next. But since you got MvC2 & FFVII for $10, who cares about SMT:N?
how is
15$ Sega Genesis Model 1 (no cords or controllers)
1$ sports genesis game
1$ sports genesis game
12$ Jungle Green N64
Pretty good on the N64 since colored ones are uncommon. Bad deal on the genesis. I could get one at the swap meet with cords, two controllers, and a non sports game. Bad deal on the sports games, unless they're mutant league football and tecmo super bowl.
Scored Marvel: UA Gold Edition (360, disc only) for $4 today. Guess it's from the 2-pack.
The 2 pack comes with the regular edition.

oh, cool. I wish it had the Case/Manual though. At that same pawn, I also saw PGR3 for $4 (complete), Import Tuner Challenge for $8, & Ass Creed for $40...

Saw Halo 3 CE for $20 but passed since it has no slipcase & a lot of scratches on the outside. Also saw a Wiimote for $15 but had no cash >.

I went pawn hopping all around yesterday for 3 hours or so. Only got one thing to show for it.

Fatal Frame II XBOX - $5

I'd love to go pawn shopping more often, but the pawn shops are really spread out and gas costs too damn much right now.

went to a different pawn today
all Wii/360/PS3 games were $40 and everything else was $15, even nintendo 64 games....

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for $10. HELLS YEAH. Saw Unlimited Saga, which my inner fanboy is screaming at to get, but I already own (bought it new :whistle2:|)

Unlimited Saga got bad reviews, did it not?

I saw guitar hero 3, and the guitar at my pawn shop I was debating on wither to get it or not. It was for the 360, and it was the regular white guitar. How much would it sale for on here or ebay normally? I wasn't sure on buying it because I'm not that crazy over gh then again I never played it with the guitar.

You can get it $50 shipped without much effort.

Yes, but it is Square... :whee: I will say this: the soundtrack is nothing short of genius and is worth the price of finding it used just to hear it.

I was at the pawnshop today and a kid was trying to sell several crappy PS1 games and the owner told him he didnt want them, and told him that I would probably give him $3 for them. The kid came over to me and told me what the PS owner said so i gave him $3. when i got home I found Suikoden and DDR2MAX in the Driver 2 case. total I got 8 PS1 games, and 2 PS2 games for $3 they were all shoved into 4 PS1 cases!!

Sweet, Mario RPG is awsome. I have a deal with the pawn owners son(who is the main worker) that he buys old games foor me for $.25-$.50 apiece since they no longer buy them, We just started this week, I can't wait to see what shows up, he said it's been crazy with people trying to get gas money.

OMG I SAW
Halo 3 $35
DMC4 $35

Does anyone think these prices are ridiculous?

Oh and I saw Clubhouse Games for DS for $19
I heard this was rare, so should I bite?

theres a pawnshop near me that prices every 360 game at $45 (including sports titles and platinum hits (even though its above msrp)) and every original xbox game at $25. those are some ridiculous prices

I have the game....Not a fan, It has weird gameplay, but the people that love it realy love it.
The other day I found Rainbow Six Vegas mint/complete for $25.
to me, that is not a good deal... the graphics is crappy... blurs up after being shot once... how is that good...

now i feel like i have to find myself a pawn shop... there is nothing new my place... and gas is too high to drive around to get some cheap games... cause buying online is cheaper with all the cag deals

Darius Gaiden (Saturn)-$5
Mario 64 (cart only, perfect condition)-$2

Passed on a bunch of other common Sat games for $5 each, NES games (only LOZ2 comes to mind) for $4 each, & Zone of the Enders 2 for $10
Is a 1st party ps2 memory card for $12 a good deal?
Also, do your guys pawn shops charge tax?
I would say no on the mem card. you can get the Nyko ones on clearance at sears, kmart, or radioshack right now for not much more. I don't have one of them, but they have good reviews.

In states that charge sales tax, pawns are supposed to charge it. Some don't for cash sales, and some will negotiate a price "out the door" that has the tax figured in already. If you are close to a deal at a pawn shop, for example, you offer 15 and they counter with 17, you could say something to the effect of "17 out the door" and they might let you save the tax. If they give you a receipt, it would list the price as 16.xx plus whatever tax to get it to 17.

Cash speaks well at pawnshops.

At my pawn the owner says, Joel you can have that for X and then I ring it up on his machine and walk out the door, it's nice for both of us, he trusts me, and he can be with his other customers.

I was just wonder'n.
He charges me tax but doesn't give me a receipt.

At one of my pawns I go in and ask to see the games and they just hand me the keys to the case. It's nice because I usually buy much more when I can look at my own leisure.

The other pawns vary, I get some where I'm treated very well and get nice discounts, some where I'm treated well but reamed up the ass on the prices, and some where it seems like I'm asking for too much because I simply want to look at the games in the case because they don't know how to put them in the case with the labels showing.

New pawn opened by me, I have historically found that new pawns have the greatest games as they load up on inventory quick and give the best deals on selling. I may sell my cheap-o PS2 and XBX games for some cash.

I got a 360 premium again today and a game I really wanted for only $50 out of pocket. yes!!! Thank you gamestop coupons and cag for letting me know about them :)

otherguy you pawn shopping bastard how much you pay for those? cause i gotta say I'm definitely digging the rockband, mass effect, and pikimin 2 purchases

Mass Effect is Complete and was $20
Horde and Iron Storm (!) were $5 apiece
Rockband was $16
Hulk and House of the Dead III were $2 apiece
Phantasy Star IV, JE 2, and Super Wonder Boy were a trade for my DK64 ($4 pawn) and 4 N64 sport games
