Target Clearance Thread XXII

Pretty sure you paid more than you should have.

They should have scanned it with a PDA to find the last price.
They scanned it with several different pdas but the item came up invalid. The last sale price was listed as $29.99 though.

Any Target employees here know what to tell an employee to do when you're trying to ring up a clearance item that is out of the system? Found an out-of-system NFS today and he rang it up at the clearance tag of $13.98 instead of the $5.98 it was supposed to be at.
In this case, they will go with the last know price which is the clearance tag of $13.98. If it didn't have a clearance tag, they are supposed to scan it and see what is the last known price. If it won't scan/says NOF [Not on File], they they are supposed to educate an estimate original price and then do the "As-Is" sticker which is usually 70% off. Don't quote me on this because I have seen NOF items that drop only 15%-30% first drop. The computer does it by itself and they have no control over it. Now if it doesn't sell within 2-4 weeks, they can scan it again and mark it further down. By this time, it's usually gone.

Now, keep in mind that clearance CAN & Sometimes differ from store to store and they ARE NOT supposed to match it. Again, YMMV with this.

And please guys, if they can't find a game that shows count, please don't start acting all crazy like they owe you something. People steal crap somehow and/or counts are off sometimes. Once an item goes d-code [Discontinued]/Clearance, they can't change counts. Also, keep in mind once the item goes salvage, they ship them out and are no longer in the store. If you come across one, they have to go with the last know price policy. That's the way it works.

Sorry for the long post but just had a customer today that was literally just plain aggressive to find a particular item. I did what I could to locate it even though it was salvage at that point but the customer kept insisting it HAD to be somewhere due to showing counts. If you are confuse, read the previous paragraph. If this has been explained, I apologize for the long post.

Question...I ran into a copy of LBP for Vita in a Target near my work yesterday and impulse bought it. Thing is, it was $40 there. The Target near my house had it on clearance for $11.98 before they sold out. If I took it in to this Target, would I be able to do a return and rebuy to get it for the lower price?

Figured I should post an update in case someone else has the same situation. Went and returned LBP straight up and then asked to buy it again. When the lady at customer service scanned it the computer printed out a sticker and told her to label it as salvage. She told me that she couldn't sell it to me and that they would be donating it instead. Asked if we could maybe run this by a manager and she called one over. The guy was super chill about it and gave it to me for the last lowest price they had in the system ($11.98).

You got the wrong manager. We almost always get the salvage stuff for free. Next time you're at CS, just take a look around. A lot of the bigger and/or rare online only item returns go straight salvage if they don't have in-store shelf space for it.

ok so when you say "go to salvage", does that mean they're donating to Good Will or whatever? or literally trashed?

Salvaged items get donated to local thrift stores, mostly Goodwills, for Target to get tax write offs and shit. That manager who sold the LBP game could get fired for that, but unlikely.

Most Goodwills sell the item lower than the last clearance price but my local GW likes to sell them for higher than what the Target clearance sticker says. Very annoying

I'm in LA... I'm sure mine Goodwills will do that, too... I'll have to swing by and check them out, though

This is super YMMV and technically Kmart but it doesn't deserve it's on thread so I'm just going to put it here since I know there's lots of folks that like LEGOs who come in here.

In the local ad section of the Kmart website under clearance I've been finding some marked down LEGO sets at my local stores.  So it's YMMV on the sets/prices at each store but I've found a couple decent prices.

If you have SYWR check your account as well since I've gotten $10 in points on each of my accounts this week that expire 5/11.  That's super YMMV as well.

In Target related news there's Spider-Man placemats half off!  I'm excited about that at least.

Which Lego sets have you found under clearance on Kmart's site, and how much? Might be worth attempting a PM if the deals are good enough.

There were a bunch the other day but I didn't think to post here... most were maybe $10 off ($40-60 sets), the only thing I checked that's still on sale is:

Star Wars B-Wing 75050 $34.99 (was $49.99) - **** NOTE - Amazon, Target.com and others are $39.99

Yeah the ones that were discounted site wide all went back up. You have to look at the local section for each store to see what's available at that one.

While this might be o/t to some, and certainly ymmv, since all targets are different, saw something very disturbing at 2 different targets this week while game hunting in the area where most of the clearance games have been the last few weeks, nearly all the items were now tagged as "online" or "as is" and the prices were heavily inflated, most 13.98 or higher, even the vita games that were around $4.98 last week, posting this for anybody who has been holding off for another price drop, might learn from my mistake

I've noticed this trend as well, as far as the prices on these "as is" and "online return" items being terrible compared to what they used to be. Sounds like some corporate-wide initiative may have went out as Target got tired of seeing perfectly fine online returns being sold for 70% off, solely because they weren't an item carried in the store.

And still none available at the only two Toys R Us locations within about a 50 mile radius. Grrrr.
Heh, Donkey Kongs are clogging up all over in my area. I did my part to relieve the shelves by buying one.

In other news, the 2 inch scale WONs dropped 70% off at Target! I got myself another Toon Link for $0.98! Yippie! :D/

Would you happen to be able to post a picture of what they look like? I'm flying blind over here for those items.

Sure thing. There are two major scales/lines for WON.

The first one is the 2 inch scale/line, they are basically pocket size figures:

Then there's the 4 inch scale/line, basic action figure size:

They are usually located in-between the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Minecraft toys in the Toys department.

There's also the deluxe scale/line, basically the larger scale 4 inch figures. They are only in Toys R Us:

Hope that helps!

Helps a lot. Thanks. I know exactly what to look for now. I didn't think they'd look so similar to the Amiibos.

You seriously going to trust Tarjay with your personal info? They already know what kind of shopper you are, no reason to give a name and addresss.
if you've ordered online from them before they have that anyway, what's it matter? and if you really want, you could create a new account with a fake name and use your real address - it's not like you have to buy anything, and gift cards are linked to a specific person.

I don't recall seeing this posted previously but the world of Nintendo Mario kart 8 infinity loop is on clearance in my area. Currently 30% off but other stores in my area were 50% per brickseek

Looks like it is at 50% at my store based on the target online price.

Not sure if this is just my area, but just want to put this information out there. After going to quiet a few Target's that had 4-5 clearance games each have now all been replaced with "As-Is", "Repackaged", and "Online Item" for many of this current round of clearance games(sly copper thieves in time, xcom enemy unknown, etc). The prices are at the 30% or 50% mark and upcs were covered or hashed out. Also every game that wasn't apart of this change that I observed(saw gears of war judgement, any of the 4 wolfienstien, dance 2) had been salvaged. Generally I've found clearance to be all over the place from store to store but this seems like a massive effort, again maybe just my area, to make some sort of change to how they were handling clearance.

Take with a grain of salt until we know or see more but it was noticeable to change to me at least and just wanted to put it out there.
Well, I didn't sign up for the monitoring. so if it's legit I should be good.
I got a postcard in the mail about this. Addressed to my dad who never lived at my house. Strange.

Got lucky and found a copy of Gears of War Judgment the other day marked $9.99. There were two copies on the day before it was announced as free with Gold, but I passed it up. Then completely forgot to download it thinking it was gonna be free in the second half of the month.

Went back a few days ago and it was still there, but rang up out of stock or whatever when scanned on the endcap scanners. Told the kid at the register I was wondering if it went down to $5, so he just gave it to me for that price.

Still have Gears 2 and 3 in my backlog though. I have a problem.

Found a single copy of Spirit Camera for 3ds in the "value" game section. Rung up as 39.99. So prices matches it for 11.99 at customer service. Hi

Logitech z506 speaker set

30% off/55.98

Gateway 21.5" monitor 1080p

Out of system, but last price was 38.98

I think I was one of the first ones to mention this, a few posts up on this page, this does not appear to be a good trend happening at some targets

Saw the same thing about clearance prices. Also seems that Dvd's / Blu Rays, CD'S and some electronics that were in the cycle now have As is prices that don't reflect regular clearance cycles. Not good :(

The two story Pasadena store had a bunch of GoPros for about $150ish. I think they were series 3 but I only took a passing glance.

Also they are at the boat and not on the end cap.

Does anybody know if there are any notable consequences for "renting" a game from Target? That is to say, buying a game, preferrably with the Redcard which gives you an extra 30 days before you cannot return it, keeping it until the day before you can return it, and returning and rebuying it with the same card. I bought MGS 3DS for $20 and the value for it tanked on eBay so I'm wanting to sell it when the value goes back up for it, but I don't know when that is and I don't want to be stuck with it if I can't sell it. And yes it is and will remain sealed.

I believe target is part of the retail equation, which tracks returns across all retailers nationwide using customer info (drivers license etc).  They track every person in their system for return abuse, and if their software detects it you get banned from returns from all participating retailers (most nowadays) for months or years depending on the flags.  In some extreme cases people are banned from even shopping at the stores.
