Target Clearance Thread XXII

I believe target is part of the retail equation, which tracks returns across all retailers nationwide using customer info (drivers license etc). They track every person in their system for return abuse, and if their software detects it you get banned from returns from all participating retailers (most nowadays) for months or years depending on the flags. In some extreme cases people are banned from even shopping at the stores.
They don't track returns with a DL and if they ban my Redcard, I just won't use it to shop anymore. I have 6 Targets in my immediate area and they have so many employees each, that even if a single store's GM bans me, the majority of the employees in that store will probably not know about it. So that's a non-issue.

If you don't think they track every bit of information they can associate with you through this system you would be mistaken. They know you, they know exactly where you're most likely to go inside their stores, they probably even know when you changed your underwear last.

And if you are pregnant... Even before you tell your dad.

They do track your information (especially if you have a Red Card). If you are just using your card they can only track the general information associated with a credit / debit card. No real way of knowing who you are unless someone recognizes who you are and you are banned.

But, I don't recommend using Target as a rental service. Narukami, get GameFly and stop being cheap and just return the game if it isn't selling. You win some you lose some, just the way reselling goes.

Does anybody know if there are any notable consequences for "renting" a game from Target? That is to say, buying a game, preferrably with the Redcard which gives you an extra 30 days before you cannot return it, keeping it until the day before you can return it, and returning and rebuying it with the same card. I bought MGS 3DS for $20 and the value for it tanked on eBay so I'm wanting to sell it when the value goes back up for it, but I don't know when that is and I don't want to be stuck with it if I can't sell it. And yes it is and will remain sealed.
So, you basically bought a game to sell on eBay to make maybe $20. You go through all that time and effort to make $20? I could understand if it was a easy trade in to GameStop or BB.

Sure, doing that once or twice won't make you anything noticable, but doing it as often as I do makes some extra cash to throw around. And besides, you sound like it's backbreaking labor to do it. I like shopping and deal hunting a lot. So I'm essentially getting paid to do what I love. And isn't that the dream? This isn't construction work I'm doing. I'm in an AC-filled store going through shelves of electronics while listening to J-pop. Kind of like this.

I can respect that since I do the same thing. Personally as a reseller / gamer, I wouldn't waste too much time assuming it'll back up in price. Return it now and don't bother with the hassle. There are other items to sell and that $20 could be used for another item / profit.

I do return items that I can't sell in a reasonable amount of time (1 - 2 weeks at the most) but its nothing noticeable or out of the ordinary. I barely ever do either. I think I've return 4 things to Target and that's the one place where I get most of my product. But than again, I don't normally buy things that won't sell within 2 days or so.

*Instead of J-Pop, it's more K-Pop for me. Though I love my Utada Hikaru, Namie Amuro, Home Made Kazoku, etc. from time to time.

It's not so easy anymore after eBay cut their free FP listings from 50 to 20. I didn't start doing that until now when eBay forced me to make some better moves in regards to buying, selling, and listing. Something has to be done about eBay's new shit policy.

Oh ok. I've never sold anything on eBay and it seemed like it's a lot of trouble for $20 after having to list the product, ship the product, and pay the eBay/PayPal fees. I have a lot of things I want to sell on eBay but just thought it was too much trouble.

You can trade it in to Amazon for $17.46. That should cover your cost or come darn close.

I actually just noticed this recently too. Does that number ever reset? Or is it lifetime? I refuse to list things on eBay if they're gonna charge me for the opportunity.

Saw the same thing about clearance prices. Also seems that Dvd's / Blu Rays, CD'S and some electronics that were in the cycle now have As is prices that don't reflect regular clearance cycles. Not good :(
In terms of DVDs, Blus, and CDs, I don't think I've ever seen any of them have anything resembling a normal clearance cycle. At least in my area, for years now those particular items were/are always repackage/as is/online item "clearanced"

one target by me had 5 copies of a reissue Weird Science DVD  for about $7 down to $5 a few weeks later then 2 weeks after that an As-is Price of ...

$8.48 ! Who are the Ad Wizards that come up with that ? Even better is another target about 10 copies of the Tooth Fairy 2 With Larry the cable guy DVD  for about $ 7 dropped to $ 5 I think . Then a few weeks go by for the tooth fairy and is labeled as is for $9. and change !!! Seriously WS was a funny movie at least but this was the best laugh that Tooth Fairy could make ! The cycle is getting strange here

Because with CDs and DVDs, Target does an audit every couple of months and sends DVDs and CDs back to the distributor. They don't get clearanced, only marked AS IS or online item because they have been missed in the audit and are now out of the system.

This, it's the same with all major retailers that I'm familiar with.

It resets every month, but it's still not enough for me. Even the 50 free items a month wasn't enough for me. Now it's just retarded.

Could we get back to posted VIDEO GAME DEALS, not other things such as toys and cameras. And enough with the reseller talk as well.

Went to a store about 15 miles away from me for a different deal but came across the biggest videogame clearance isle I've ever seen at Target. About 200 games across 3 end caps where either online items, repackaged, or clearanced. Sucks since the good stuff (Pikmin 3) was repackaged. Pikmin 3 was $42 but I passed on it hoping to get it cheaper elsewhere (not likely but I don't need the game now either).

I could tell that almost all the repackaged games were in fact sealed and not opened ever. Just a nice way of them stop price drops on these games. Even Xbox One and PS4 games were repackaged but were new. They even had Dragon Age: Inquisition Deluxe for $42 but repackaged so no price drop on that.

Anyways, got Metro Last Light LE 360 $6, FFXIII: Lightning Returns Steelbook PS3 $14 and WWE 12 360 $9.

Witnessed the same thing at the Desert Ridge Target in Phoenix. Scored a Terraria Collector's Edition on PS3 for $5.

I saw a few 1tb Seagate hard drives on clearance for $40. You could probably pop one into your PS3, PS4, or Xbox One for some extra storage.

My Target has got rid of it's video game clearance completely. Any games that used to be on clearance, are now back up to $19.99, a few games have $9.99 stickers on them, but they are big white stickers, not the clearance ones. Most of the $9.99 games are for Wii, or licensed movie games.

On clearance, they had a bunch of copies of :ps3: Grand Theft Auto IV + Episodes, $10-something

Also not on clearance, they had four :ps3: DJ Hero 2 box sets, with one turntable, for $50 a pop. Weird! (And an :360: Assassin's Creed 3 box set, still at $120, that they'll never price drop)

I got one of those DJ HERO 2 box sets for $10 two years ago at a Grocery Outlet. I still haven't played it. I picked up the original game for $5 at Target when they had that weird sale with a bunch of video games in the dollar section last year.

do yourself a favor and never open the box. even if you enjoyed rock band / guitar hero, there's just no fun to be had.

all on Clearance
All external? I see the last one is.

Edit: all external. Looking for internal for PS3, unless there's steps to make an external an internal, easily.

Thanks. It's on clearance near me... but there is a store 56 miles away from me that has it even cheaper... don't think I can justify driving that far or paying more than that store... Hopefully one of my stores follows suit.

Noticed a really weird occurrence at the Target on 7th/Bell in Phoenix, the endcaps are full of older, full priced games, some that I know were clearanced out long ago. Off the top of my head I remember SFxT for Vita for $39.99, Motorstorm Apocalypse and Two Worlds II for $59.99, I had to do a double take.

Seen very similar at two different locations near me. 2-3 full endcaps of tons of OOP games...one location had about half of them marked as repackage including a copy of Pikmin 3 I picked up for $42 and Hyrule Warriors for $42 as well. Other location very frustrating....many discontinued 3DS games I wanted but none marked and ringing up full price

Was in the market for some new PC speakers, was going to get the Logitech Z313's for $40 or maybe splurge a little more on the Z323's for $50.  However, luckily I went to Target first to pick up a couple things and saw the Z506's on clearance for $40.  Uh, don't exactly have room for them haha but I think I can make it work since I basically have a U desk setup.

If they haven't been reported yet (I'm sure they have) it's these http://www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-z506-5-1-surround-sound-speakers-6-piece-black/1215025.p?id=1218236333141&skuId=1215025

I found one World of Nintendo Donkey Kong ATV with Launcher at $2.68 and also got myself a Speck Candy Shell for Galaxy S5 for $10.48.

There's a Target in Ahwatukee, AZ that has one Seagate 1TB HDDs left. They have it for $34.98!

There were four this morning too...someone go get it!

Thanks to dam262a!

Great deal. DJ Hero's one of the best games of recent times that died too soon. Crack it open and give it a shot someday, it's a lot of fun.

Oh, and one nice thing about DJ Hero 2 is that the entire songlist is open from the get-go, so you don't ever have to play anything you don't want to just for unlocks. And if you like it, DJ Hero 1's often sold used for like next to nothing, so I say you should give it a shot!

Target is trying to keep discontinued games out of the back room hoping they will sell before going clearance eventually. Target's pricing system for video games doesn't follow the retail pricing trend so some games will sit at release MSRP for years. The Target near me still has Darksiders 2 for the 360 for $59.99
