I was looking to just buy a whole box set of dvds, watch them and return to target. I read target's return policy here, but it says nothing about opened items. So as long as I have a reciept can I take it back and get a cash refund?

No. Read the back of the receipt. Some items cannot be returned if opened, including music, movies, video games, software, & collectibles.

Get Netflix if you want to do that, stores don't take back opened movies.

DO IT!
Then complain to a manager when they won't give you a refund for using the item and returning it when you are done with it.
Try it on books, magazines, clothes, and even food.
You will never have to keep anything for more than 30 days! COOL!

How about you go to Blockbuster.

Direct from Target's return policy:

"Music, movies, video games, software and collectibles must be returned unopened."

A) Just about every retailer won't let you do a return of any software/movies. Only if its defective, and even then for the same copy.

B) Is this really what society is coming to?

I worked at Target and they definitely won't let you return open items. If you want to exchange it, the Guest Service rep is supposed to open the item before completing the exchange.

Supposedly, it's against anti-piracy laws to refund money for opened media (not sure if that was true or just something they told us)

I can see that as valid, and well, Target isn't in the business to rent movies.

This is exactly why Gamestop got rid of their old return policy, people like domdaddy abusing it.

Domdaddy, just rent the damn things at a video store instead of trying to scam a store cause you want to watch some DVDs.

Or get a job.
Stupidity never ceases to amuse me, even on CAG, much amusement.
lol, entertaining though.

I currently work at Target, and I've worked at the service desk plenty.. I can tell ya, don't bother trying to rip us off. If you bring a DVD back that isn't in its original package, all you'll get back is a replacement copy. And yes, we'll open the replacement copy for you, so you won't be able to ebay a 'factory sealed DVD'.

lol, nice

Wow, you guys are a bunch of assholes. I've taken back a digital camera (that i used for 2 months), and a tv (that i used for 1 month). I took both of those items back because they crapped out on me. When I did return them, they didn't even check to see if they still worked, they just threw it the back. I was just going to get 2 box sets of dvds, watch them, and return them in a week, and say both were defective with my dvd player.

fuckin' nerds.

So you're calling us nerds, cause we pointed out that you're asking about a policy so you could commit fraud? You really are a idiot.

Thanks, I now have another person to add to my ignore list.

Guys, don't mislead him! What you're planning will work just fine! Go and buy several hundred dollars of DVDs and watch them. Then go and bring them back. Target will be happy to refund your money! Trust me!
