Played Tekken 5, I had fond memories of tekken from PS1 days however the contols for Soul Calibur are so responsive and quick feeling that my recent play of tekken 5 and I was disappoint, whats you favorite?

soul calibur's good yo

but with the 2 sequals, they try to fix something dat didnt even need to be fixed.

SC1 was good enough, and the sequals were just alrite.

Tekken gets the vote

I stuck with Samurai shodown 5 for XBOX right now. The Only #1 best fighting game ever compared to Tekken series & Soul Calibur series. I never get bored when i played this $ucker :)

2 games vs 1... unfair!

how the hell is SCIII topping T5? SCIII is fun, but limited compared to T5. T5 has great ballance and a good learning curve, while SCIII is a button smashers freind and glitched out...

I always found Soul Calibur to be more fun, but that's just me. Maybe because it's much more accessible and much faster.

I didn't like Teken 5 over soul calibur becuase,
1) Tekken 5 feels slow
2) Tekken 5 still uses the pad over the analog stick
3) Tekken 5 feels controls wise like I am still playing an old 2d flat figher.

Loved Soul Edge YEARS ago, bought a DC purely for Soul Calibur, have two different versions of Soul Calibur 2, and am waiting for SC3 to come down to $30... loved every bit of playing it when I had a chance though.

Tekken? Good game... but could never get into it like I could Soul Calibur, and to a lesser extent, Dead or Alive. Tekken's feel just isn't for me, and I never liked the characters much at all... I do respect the series though.

Soul Calibur. Tekken is not one of my favorite fighting games. Soul Calibur is the best 3D fighter there is period. Even though i prefer the first one to 2 or 3

I lost interest in Tekken after Tekken Tag came out. Tekken 4 was the final blow. It seemed like Namco wasent taking the series anywhere after that.

So my vote goes out to Soul Calibur, even though I've only played Soul Calibur II.

1)compared to SC yes, it's slower, but not by much at all... top level players will prove how fast the game goes.
2) Not necissarily. There's the old arcard stick! Plus, analog is not needed at all in Tekken since there is no 8 way run... Tekken dosn't really need 8 way, its sidestepping game is great ATM.
3) Again, top level play uses alot of sidestepping and area control and movement. If you know how to play a character, you can move all over a stage like it's nothing... and again no need for 8 way run... plus without 8 way run there's more moves available and less limitations.

as you can see I am a bit biased on tekken, but other than people just enjoying the feel of the game, I can't see SC2/3 above T5. SC2/3's world is awsome and pretty damn deep and it's easy to get into, but it's a no brainer when you compare the two that in terms of depth and balance, T5 wins hands down... now you know my reasoning, but disagree plz cuz everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

i guess SC is more accessible, which is why it's winning.

T5 is by far the better game, imo. SC3 is fun for a bit, but there just isn't that much to learn (or incentive to do so.)

I really like all the games. I chose SC because I don't have Tekken (usually play it at my friends house, just lazy to buy it.) But if there was an option w/SF or maybe KOF series, I'd go with those instead.

Everyone has that one college game and Soul Calibur II was that game for me and group. Every Friday night for two years.

Yay, someone out there likes Samurai Showdown 5! I was thinking I was the only person on the planet who liked it, all the gaming mags seemed to bash it for its dated graphics. Well screw them, I like it anyway.

And I'm going with Soul Calibur 2/3 just because I can play as Nightmare and feel like I have a big penis.

I'd love to toss in some love for Samurai Showdown 5 but it seems like the major game chains around here just don't want to carry any copies of it at all. I'm still dumbstruck by the fact that two EBs, two GameStops and a GameCrazy had zero copies between all of them. Grrr.

And I'd toss in my vote towards Soul Calibur because, as was previously mentioned, it was the college series, honestly. While we did have our good two-month run of Virtua Fighter 4 it pretty much kept most people away while Soul Calibur dragged everyone into its gameplay. Same with SC2, for the most part, and while Tekken 4 hit and all and we dumped money into the arcade cabinet for a while, we were mostly soured from the experience. Tekken 5 ended up hitting in the last few months of our college careers and since most of us were working on final projects and some public things and whatnot it just didn't work out.
