That crazy Japanese eating machine is being profiled on MTV right now

A pointless conversation with my lady friend on the phone got me flipping through the channels. I came across my favorite professional eater, Takeru Kobayashi. This guy is just nuts... how does he eat all those hot dogs? He puts Harry Caray to shame. Not sure why the hell mtv is profiling him though... probably some truelife crap or something of that nature (like what they did with Tony Atlas).

He eats the bun & hot dog separately. The hot dog is chomped in 2 bites & the bun is dipped in water and swallowed whole or in 2 bites.

I have noticed that in competive eating the fat people never win. Why is this, does this mean that the skinny people are the true fatasses(sp)? ;)

I thought I heard that it has something to do with how aggressive the enzymes are in the person's stomach and digestive track when it comes to breaking the food down. Apparently these thin people are blessed with it and they have high metabolisms at the same time.

I saw the whole episode last week. It was amazing how he had those 100 plates stacked at the first restaurant and said something along the lines of that being nothing.

Then at the 2nd restaurant where he had those noodles and the 8 1/2 lbs of avacado and noodles and that giant sized shaved ice mountain, I couldn't believe it.

yea, saw it last week, and that shaved ice must've been torture, it was chili powder shave ice...i never heard of such a thing
it seems everyone has forgotten his humiliating defeat to a bear in a hot dog eating contest
Everyone forgot about his defeat when the midgets couldn't defeat the elephant in the airplane-pulling contest later in the show. Or maybe it was when the midget relay team couldn't defeat the camel in a race. Either way, there were some little losers.
You should've seen him eat 22 pounds of noodles
The tv at work was on and we watched that durring lunch. I can't belive he could eat that much of the same food and not get sick of it. If I eat more then 3 helpings of something I get sick of it.

It's actually a new show they're producing called MTV Bibs.

...

If you actually watched the episode you would have found out that Kobayashi actually has a stomach disorder where his stomach is lower than everybody else so he can actually pack more food in his body. He trains several hours a day in the gym to strengthen his body and stomach. His metabolism is so fast that he can process larger amounts of food and not get sick or throw up. He stated that he has trained himself to hold the food down.

The reason that the fat people mostly don't win is because their body actually gets fuller quicker than the skinny people that have faster metabolisms.

That scene was insane.

There was a thing on like the Discovery Channel regarding competitive eating. A bunch of fat Americans were sitting around a table discussing what they called, "The Belt of Fat Theory". Something about how their fatness hinders additional stomach expansion.
