Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

What's with all the secrecy and vagueness? Am I missing something?
Just say the location of the store. I would rather try a location that has 50 consoles than one that has less than 30.
Regardless, tonight, most stores should be posting how many consoles they have available for pre-order.

It’s not surprising. Went in to pick up my Mario RPG. No one in there. Saw there was only one other item waiting for pickup.

I mean they can’t even sell their Pro with the ‘you can pick up a Pokemon card pack each month’ anymore since they can’t keep scalpers from buying them all.

Yeah, last time I was in there they were all out of Pokemon cards too.

In general, they have crap stock levels on everything people probably WANT to buy (games, Pokemon card, etc)

I have $400 in credit from trading in my launch PS5. The plan was to preorder a switch 2, and now with that console being a flop, not sure what to do with the credit. Maybe a couple fancy collector editions upcoming?

Let's see if GameStop survived 2025 at all. They mainly fence Chinese made garbage and a dwindling set of physical releases. The Switch 2 being an expensive flop (not due to anything in their control) will likely be the last thing for them.

I have very low confidence in the company. Maybe it's just my region, but any time I stop in one, their selection is abysmal and their prices are easily beat elsewhere.

Everybody can be an armchair analyst and say why they think it will fail, but it's a little soon to call it when it hasn't even come out yet...

I wonder if GS counts pre-orders as sales figures or if GS waits until the consoles are picked up? Just trying to predict when the next news article saying GS is on the rebound will be....May? or June? 🙃

Has anyone traded in a ps5 slim disc without the disc recently? I remember reading it was allowed a few weeks ago and if purchasing a pro, they would just swap the plates
If you trade in a PlayStation 5 slim without the disc drive, then it’s digital.

Got to my gamestop about 9:15 this morning, was probably around 20th in line. They had around 120 total consoles. I would say at about 10am the line got pretty long, probably around 80-100 total. Took about 30 minutes to get to the register because the phone was ringing off the hook which slowed everything down. Overall a success and was well organized by the manager.

I wish they would pickup the phone and told me if they was still taking preorders for the switch 2 instead of wasting my time. Called them 10 times and when I get to the store they said aren't taking anymore preorders anymore. I wasted 30 minutes drive when they could have just pickup the phone and tell ppl that.

Are people supposed to feel bad for you or something?

It sounds like you're aware they were taking Switch 2 pre-orders today... but can't seem to grasp that that was what was keeping them tied up and unable to answer the phone.

Also not like pre-order times for online and in-store weren't posted online.

Sounds like a "you" issue (i.e. you missed online pre-orders, you missed in-store pre-orders, and you are now bitching about it).

Congrats to gamestop for having a smooth pre-ordering process. I was fortunate that the store I went to had 120 switch 2 consoles for pre-order. I got in line at 11 am but had to leave half-way through to get back to work (waited about 45 min). They probably had about 30-40 ppl in line. I figured I could come back later and pre-order one.
Came back around 2:30 pm with 2 people in line ahead of me. Casually asked if switch 2's were available and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were. Pre-ordered the mario kart bundle, a 512 gb express micro sd and put $5 down towards the warranty also (it's gamestop funny $, so why not?)
Walked out of there hoping that future console launches could be this easy.

They apparently have to push those bundles according to one employee I talked with. Or game reserves for the system
i went in after work (about 3:30) and got the last mario kart bundle they had for preorder. they were really pushing all the bundle shit and screen protector and all this. they told me they aren't getting any games or accessories except for what people preorder and i said good they are too expensive anyway. it was worse for the guy beside me because he had to preorder just a vanilla console and they guy was preaching to him that he wouldn't have any games and he better get them now while he still can! this was some next level harassment going on.

I already got my preorder in last night so get your shit straight. They had 4 people working that store and only two register and it wouldn't been hard one person picking up the phone at times.

I just traded in my xbox series x today and can confirm the $455.xx credit still works when preordering a game. Also it seems like preordering any game would work to get the 10% boost in credit. For reference, I preordered Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templar Reforged for PS5 ($5 deposit).
Also tested something else and it seems like the 10% boost will apply to any trade in not just consoles. I traded in 2 xbox games and I got 10% extra credit on those as well making it 30% extra credit in total for pro members.

and workers will try to force all that bundle shit on you, stand firm.
lol the employees at my store were super chill if you didn’t want any add-ons, they couldn’t wait to get finished with you and on to the next preorder, they’re required to state all your options though or they get written up unfortunately. i will admit the store manager was standing behind her employees trying to pressure people to get a protection plan for $5 on the switch 2 saying “you’ll get a free screen protector!”

Anyone trade in a switch lite? Dude at gs told me it only gets $100
yeah trading in a switch to gamestop is definitely not the move, you will have more luck trading it for an xbox or ps5 on facebook marketplace, and then trading that into gamestop, you’ll be surprised how many don’t play their consoles and would be willing to do a straight trade or a trade plus cash on your end

Very misleading, the protection play is not $5, it was a $5 pre order for the protection plan and you get a free screen protector at pick up. The protection plan was $45 for 1 year and $75 for 2 if I remember right.
