GS FAQ

Where is the weekly ad?
They ended the weekly ad for more rotation of deals. Please check the homepage and deal link for the current deals.

I can't find a trade in value for an item?
It might not be tradable or calling a store to find the value may be the only option.

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

Are there trade limits?
Yes, $500 cash minus some electronic trade ins and or $2000 trade credit in a rolling 30 day period.

Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

that is why i always have 5-6 open old preorders. it still doesn't really accomplish anything but i like the look on their face when i tell them i need to cancel my preorders and they ask "all of them?"

GameStop pays shit wages so they get shit employees.

I say 1 out of 2 are good. But the good ones bail because they realize they’re getting screwed and can get a better job.

Gamestops trade page now shows Steam decks as something you can trade in

(edit) cag redirects URLs so the above shows just default not working values, go to gamestop.com/trade and you'll see steam deck there and get a TIV for your model/GB version

I could trade in my launch 512GB LCD deck for $195 (plus 10% pro I'd assume), buy steam wallet codes with that, and put it towards an OLED deck.

tempting, I really really enjoyed my deck when I was on vacation last year but outside of vacation I haven't used it a single second and no plans really to go anywhere for a while. I wonder how long until steam deck 2 rumors start.

Get a whole $10 on a 512gb literally 😂🤦🏻

Collectibles sales are down 21.8%, software down 16.8%, hardware & accessories down 4.6% compared to the previous year. Total sales down 16.2% in the US and that includes an extra week in the fiscal year compared to the year prior.

This is my favorite part from the risks:

Multi-channel retailers and ecommerce companies continue to focus on delivery services, with customers increasingly seeking faster, guaranteed delivery times and low-cost or free shipping. Our ability to be competitive on delivery times and delivery costs depends on many factors and our failure to successfully manage these factors and offer competitive delivery options could negatively impact the demand for our products.

Their delivery is absolutely horrible. They need to fix that asap whether it’s free shipping to the store for pickup or just a lower threshold.

Multiple occasions where I ended up not buying something because of shipping. And a lot of times when I do, I buy extra to hit the threshold and return. Which raises their costs anyways

Not only that but the shipping from stores is inconsistent, slow, and sometimes you wind up with a bunch of different packages from a bunch of different stores.

Realistically, they need to pivot away from being a Shein Storefront, dump the wall of Funkos, and get back into used game market hole-hog.

Either specialize or die. Become a leading chain of high quality retro and modern games distribution with a real knowledgeable staff, and they might have a chance.

But who am I kidding, they'll stay the course and contract into a death spiral as more and more systems push for digital, ship with discless variants, and kids only go there to buy Robux for Fortnite funds.

Edit: They could also pivot back to publishing and get in deep with limited print companies. Snatch a few up, make pre-orders whole, and then be an on-demand print company for new physical titles. They have more capital, distribution, and logistics than the little guys and could fulfill the market for niche through AA physical media.

Branch out into other nerdy stuff, like physical manga, light novels, anime, etc. That stuff is coming back into fashion, IMO, and leaning more into the niche nerdy stuff would get them a more stable crowd versus flippers, random Moms, and people fencing stolen video games.

Doesn't help that every GameStop I go to has shit for inventory. They need to up their trade values, be more real time with market values (for their sake, I love getting super expensive games for pennies on the dollar...), and bring back a real rewards program with active discounts.

It isn't unadvertised, the store just didn't put up the marketing. It's on all games, 50% bonus for non pro, 60% bonus for pro.
There was no email about it, no mention on the website, and my closest store had no idea it was occurring. I only found out because someone I know got the 50% bonus yesterday.

I'm not going back to take pictures but there was marketing for it in multiple places in my home store yesterday and it's supposed to be in the phone greeting.

I'm not crapping on you, I'm just making the point it's got a roll out but your store either didn't get it(possible) or just didn't keep up(much more likely).

The website almost never has the promos on it anymore if you aren't aware. Looks like some of the values dropped from yesterday on some of the higher value items too.

There is an unadvertised 50% trade in deal on games. I traded in a game for PS5, PS4, and Wii systems. All got the 50% bonus as they got scanned in, so there is no minimum game requirement.
Ty dude. I had no knowledge of this promo and have a crap ton of old stuff I’m willing to part with for a 60% boost. Especially with no minimum TIV and no pre-order eligibility requirements.

yeah, it would have been even better if people posted here when it first started, before values dropped. but i guess you get more internet cred coming in here after the fact, ragging on people that do help others and bragging about what you got.

This is an extremely rare opportunity for those with banned/terminated pro accounts. Other than TIVs getting nerfed, awesome!

Eh I would help more on here but when I post stuff to help, somebody ends up asking if the thing I posted is still going two posts later or literally the post after mine.

Maybe I am on a bunch of people's ignore lists or maybe nobody reads anything. Forums are dying and stuff like that is why, you are right though I could be much nicer in general on here.

On top of the site getting glown up, it'd be nice to have the forums showcase weekly deals and promos on the FAQs. C'mon Davem, make it happen!

He's not around anymore. He made a bundle in the stock frenzy and got his wife new boobs. Someone poor is going to have to maintain the thread and preferably start a new one if they want to take on that responsibility.

Madden 24 PS4 is $30 at BB today only. It’s a small flip, but I’m heading to BB tomorrow to pickup another game anyway. Hope the 25 base TIV holds.

I preordered a Joker amiibo back in January and ended up never picking it up. GameStop isn't super close to my house and Best Buy was able to ship it for free.

I went in yesterday to try to get my $5 deposit back and apparently they changed the system so that it's not possible for them to issue refunds for that. Don't feel like sitting on the phone for 45 minutes to bitch at customer service, but looks like I'm going to have to soon. This company is awful.

If it's been i believe, 30 days since the item was out then you can get the refund but just as store credit.

an actual great experience in store today, finally picked up Dragon's Dogma 2 and the guy offered to use points to save me money, redeemed points for a $15, $5 and $1 certificate, plus my monthly $5 and $10 off $100 (picked up avatar as well). ended up paying roughly $70 for both games. usually just getting them to use my monthly with any cert is a pain, forget about multiple certs.

Persona 5 Royal (S) is $24.99 at Target and got me $36.80 after bonuses earlier ($23 base).

If anyone is sitting on Hello Neighbor (S) (it's been $10 at BB multiple times), it's $10 base.
Appreciate you, I bought Persona 5 Royal, price matched Madden 24 to Best Buy, and had a copy of Mario Kart I had gotten when on sale after buying a switch earlier in the month.

Madden 24 has been the only game/deal from best buy this week that gives you profit; for anyone paying attention to their DOTDs.
