Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

For the Xbox series s trade in, do I need to trade in the original white controller or could it be any color controller (I have the black one).

Dang, gamestops needs to have every current gen system in the country given to them if this trade value gets another 10%. I still have a ps4 and switch, so I’m fine without a ps5 for awhile.

I expect the ps5 pro to be a ridiculous pice for barely noticeable gains. $600, plus another $80 for the disc drive. Anything less than that is fine. Anymore, and I buy a new regular PS5 for less than I just got in trade credit next promo I can find.
Don't forget to add tax, anywhere from $30 to $60.

It never stacks. You'll get the better of the two

His math isn't taking into consideration the +$25 promo and purported +10% together.

His math is only showing 20% (i.e. pro and purported extra 10%) on top of base (i.e. $350 * (1 + 0.1 + 0.1 ) = $420)

Doesn't seem as though anybody has confirmed the purported extra 10% is a thing, so guess it's just $410 for now.

Also, for the following cardholders...

Bank of America Customized Cash: You can get 3% cashback when you set your card to online purchases; additionally, you can get another 3% cashback boost when you select the eBay tile (exp. 9/15 MUST use tile link and promo code) with a maximum of 10 total uses as well as 10% cashback with a maximum $5 redemption when you select the Google Play Store tile (exp. 9/22) in Rewards & Deals > Cash back deals.

Chase Freedom/Freedom Flex: You can cash in your points to get 10% off of a variety giftcard with GameStop as one of the merchants. Minimum redemption is $20, so it'll cost you only $18 in cashback points to redeem; I ordered a physical giftcard worth $50 for only $45 in cashback points.

Citi Custom Cash: You can get 4% cashback with a maximum $4.25 redemption when you select the eBay tile as well as 10% cashback with a maximum $5 redemption when you select the Amazon tile in Products & Offers; WARNING, applies only to ONE purchase EACH...

Discover It: Same deal with Chase Freedom/Freedom Flex except with a dedicated GameStop merchant and the option to select a digital certificate (YMMV at stores cuz GSAs are scared) instead of a physical giftcard. You can also get 5% off of an Amazon giftcard.

PayPal World Elite: You can get your usual 3% cashback when you use PayPal as your payment method; unfortunately, PayPal lowered cashback earnings from 2% to 1.5% for all other non-PayPal purchases...you can also get a bonus 2% (eBay tile exp. 9/15), 5% (Best Buy tile exp. 9/15), and 10% (Microsoft tile exp. 9/15) cashback.

Plan on trading in today, with the expectation the TIV will drop tomorrow.

If the price of the PS5 Pro sucks, will probably just rebuy a PS5 Slim during Black Friday or if it goes for $350 or less (whether at GS or elsewhere).

Hoping PS5 gets a price drop to $400 (and $350 for the DE), and that the Pro goes for $500. Don't have high hopes that will be the case, but if it's $600 or more screw that... Since it IS a mid-gen refresh after all. It's assumed that games will need a game-by-game update to support better performance/etc., which is fine for new games but sucks for anything existing (since most games likely wouldn't get patched). Unless there's some magic that makes it so all games run better, it will be the PS4 Pro all over again (which honestly was underwhelming, and sounds like the PS5 Pro relatively speaking, may not be as "big of a jump" as it was going from the base PS4 to the PS4 Pro).

Considering target did $350 for the ps5 last BF, I have a good feeling most retailers will be doing this with the series x and ps5 to clear out inventory.

My local GameStop told me that if I trade in my launch disc PS5 without the screw for the stand, I'll lose $20-$30 for the trade in. I find that ridiculous, but I've ordered one off Amazon that I hope I'll get tomorrow, and if not, I really hope I can find it somewhere in my home. Somehow, the screw got lost by movers when I temporarily had to move out of my home.

I scored PS5 at Target $350 - 20% - 5% red card = $280 plus taxes. XBOX X bundle $400 - 20% - 5% red card - $70 GC and Nintendo Switch Lite Animal Crossing Edition $160 plus taxes. The best BF deal ever in 2023. Likely 2024 is Crappy deal. :)

Had never seen the screw before. Went through the packaging, and nothing. Took the base off, and there's a small cavity (if you rotate the base) that it's nestled in. However, I've never oriented it vertically so I would have never touched it.

Anyone know what the refurb fee is for a stick drifted XSX controller? Thinking about taking advantage of the $410, but wondering how much I'll be dinged. Also, I'm guessing they wouldn't mistake a One controller instead of the XSX one.

Base PS5 to PS6uper will be the next "big tech leap". I'll be waiting out on that. By then, PS6 and PS5 Pro games should be made more affordable.

I brought in my launch PS5 basically new in box, wrapped back up perfectly as if I never used it. The store rep didn’t even plug it in or test it! I asked why they aren’t testing anything and he said their typical trade ins are gross. Mine was too perfect so they didn’t even bother. Now that has me paranoid I may have somehow left a disc in it!

I traded my Series X in over the weekend and the guy didn’t test it. I did ask if I left a disc in, and I had, but that’s the only reason he plugged it in. I didn’t sign paperwork or anything like I normally have to for a console trade.

Probably having so many consoles traded in that they are over it. Hooking everything up and testing it takes forever every time I see an employee doing it and usually ends up costing them a few other potential customers walking out.

Nope it instantly dropped to $231

dang lol they're on top of it when they wanna be aren't they?

even if they still offered $410, I wouldn't budge. $700 + $80 for disc add-on + tax is a damn TALL order.

The market share for this thing is gonna be small as hell, I'd rather save the funds for PS6, Switch 2, or whatever. Even if it's not hard for ps5 pro games to be incorporated, I can live with fidelity vs performance trade off I've been 'dealing with' for 4 years now.

$370 + (tax on $780) is a LOT of dough out of pocket for something I was debating whether or not actually even needed.

The sadness I felt from the value drastically dropping to the elation I felt at it going back up... almost makes me want to trade it in after all. Almost.
I know what I'm doing later today. I actually will kinda miss my launch PS5. I got lucky and it's continued to stay silent. 410 is too good to not take advantage off. Now I just got to worry about getting a pro pre-order in.
