Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

I bought Lost in Random when it was $4.49 on the MS store several weeks ago. Then I saw it for $4.29 on the GS site. I was going to request a refund just to save a couple dimes until I saw the checkout page charge a 10% sales tax, so I dipped.

Weird. No tax for me and im in Cali too.

I purchased Lost in Random, Panzer Dragoon Remake, and Realms of Ancient War when they were dirt cheap several weeks ago on the MS store, no sales tax; in addition, there was no sales tax charged on the 360 Marketplace right before shutting down (R.I.P.). I also purchased the seasons pass for Marvel's Midnight Suns earlier this year on the PSN store, also no sales tax.

Are you in a state that doesn't tax digital purchases (like California)?

weird, not showing tax for me online. you guys have me worrying I should go in store and buy some up with my credit just in case it changes. I was going to keep it and see if i could get a ps5 pro from gamestop but i am worried they will be gamestop and force a bundle or make it pro only and my pro expire 11/4.

Doesn't show up in cart. Need to go to checkout

Sounds like yet another mistake in the gamestop systems. Don't see this lasting. But for now it's an amusing promotion for them to claim: Pro members save 5%! (yet lose 6-10% at checkout).

In-store, can you use a monthly $5 certificate toward a preorder (not at pick up)? I know this won't count as the $5 down, but can it count as part of a pre-payment?

I think giving Pro members the option to use a $5 monthly toward a pre-order is a win-win scenario for both parties. One, we wouldn't have to give up on a burger for that day. Two, even when we do decide to cancel our pre-order, we forfeit the $5 voucher upon consumption like we've always been doing. Just another microscopic incentivization idea to sign up for Pro.

No. That means over a year, members can earn a free game for the cost of Pro membership. How does that make financial sense for GS?
How does a Pro membership even make financial sense for GS to begin with...? We already know that you cannot carry over $5 vouchers month to month, so your argument is moot. Altho...gotta hand it to you, not a bad idea! Would definitely sign up for Pro again if that were the case, macroscopic incentive! It would also help GS to liquidate inventory from over half a decade ago.

I am sure there are a ton of people who paid for Pro but don't use any of the incentives. I haven't used the $5 coupon in a few months.

Lots of people buy and forget. But for the ones that don't, the $5 is an incentive to get someone in the store. That is invaluable.

Other perks do the same, whether it encourages more spending or more frequent shopping.

I have an adult friend for the longest time who didn't know he was subbed to Pro for like...3+ years. I really felt bad for his dad...

PS5 Pro pre-orders start October 10th at GameStop, $100 down req. either cash or credit, if you save your "$5 monthly" you can use it towards whatever remaining balance for the PS5 Pro on Nov 7th

Wouldn't be surprised to see a trade in deal for the Pro.

that'd be nice so people can grab an og ps5 cheap off the marketplace, but gotta be safe, the PS5 is the perfect breeding ground for roaches. gamestop does a shake and drop on counter test with every console for a reason

12.3k was the # for the Anniversary Pro, wasn't it? I don't think they ever gave out a number for the Slim Anniversary but guessing it's way more since it stuck around for hours they went live.
They didn't give a number for slim, I bet it will be widely available for a while.

Apparently GameStop decided to start charging tax on digital currency...

I noticed this yesterday when my daughter wanted to buy something on PSN and I needed to add some money to my wallet. I was happy at first because I was still getting the Pro discount and it had just expired, but then noticed that the total was _over_ $10 because they were charging tax. =(

I just checked and it looks like it's fixed now; no tax anymore. And of course my Pro discount is gone too. I have to say that after being a Pro member for as long I can remember it feels weird to just let it lapse, but paying $25/year for a pack of pokemon cards every month and `free' shipping for $54 and over orders doesn't sound that appealing.

Wait...so now there are TWO different 30th Annivesary Pro models? 30th Anniversary Pro "PHAT" with optional disc drive and 30th Anniversary Pro "SLIM" completely without disc drive?

The PS5 Pro never has a disc drive. Only the slim. And for the slim, you have Physical edition and Digital Edition.

In this case of the Anniversary, PS5 Pro, and PS5 Slim Digital Edition.

Now you're confusing me.

You're now saying the 30th Anniversary Pro "Slim" has a disc drive? Yet, you're also saying "PS5 Slim Digital Edition" which doesn't have a disc drive...

The PS5 Pro doesn't have a disc drive we all know that, but I specifically mentioned the OPTIONAL aspect of being able to attach one just to make a clear distinction between the two products.

Neither 30th editions have a disc drive. The Pro isn't a slim at all. It's a different category of the PS5. You have OG, Slim and Pro.

No Pro model comes with a disc drive, but you can add one (for $80). The Slim has 2 versions for sale, disc and digital models.

You keep calling the Pro a Slim, but it's just a Pro. There is no Slim Pro. The Pro looks like it's similar dimensions to the OG.

Sony is making it complicated from here on out. To think it was bad enough already when Microsoft is selling the Xbox One X AND Xbox Series X...

So to sum it all up:

PS5 PHAT disc
PS5 PHAT digital
PS5 SLIM without detachable disc drive sold separately (includes 30th Ann.)
PS5 PRO without detachable disc drive sold separately (includes 30th Ann.)

Can't wait for the PS6 Pro which will be THE PS6 console...these mid/late gen refreshes need to just stop.

Add PS5 Slim with Disc Drive

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I got through the queue a little after an hour after the 11 am pst start and the 30th anniversary slim was sold out. I forgot to get a controller, so I had to sit in another queue for an hour, 30th ps slim still showed sold out. The only anniversary items I saw that stuck around were the 30th controller and 30th portal. Did anyone else have a different experience?

the PHAT does not technically exist anymore in Sony's eyes. There were listings of refurbished/limited warranty PHAT consoles on the store.

At least Sony didn't make the consoles perform differently other then the Pro. The whole S vs X is mind boggling, but general public has no clue

I couldn’t care less about the slim so I don’t remember if I saw it instock or not when I finally got in. Portal and dualsense were the only ones available so I got those.
