Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Helps offsets the cost for the VoH expansion which is still incredibly expensive especially when you compare it to PoE2.

Ignoring those that want a physical disc, they already have started discounting a bundle for both for $45, so it's not the end of the world if one misses out on this deal

Digital and disc version PS5's both trade in @ $300?
I've been trying to get someone to let me grab the plate out of the pro to cover the disc drive spot and keep my slim's disc drive but no dice.

Can someone tell me if I got the 30 percent bonus? I pre-ordered a game and bought a new 1 (BO6). I feel like I didn't get the double pro promo.

kinda regret picking up diablo for $20 now but $20 was still a good deal. I ended up getting black ops price matched at target even though they dont pm Gamestop so might return the copy I got from october

Sorry if I’m being that guy right now with this question.

Is there any way to use trade in toward Steam cards anymore? My daughter has some switch games to trade and was starting a savings for a Steam Deck.

Trade your games in, receive the credit on a trade card.

Make your steam card purchase in a separate transaction.

I'm not actually aware of any restriction of having the trade and purchase on the same transaction. The restriction in place is any purchase of gift cards using Gamestop gift cards, but trade credit is treated differently.

As someone who bought a steam deck at launch funded by gs credit, I say good plan.

Right now, the only way to use trade credit toward steam wallet is to buy cards in store. Don't plan on buying more than $200 steam currency at a time because each store is limited in how much they can sell in a certain period of time. Also throw down $5 on any random preorder when you do the trades for the current boost. Cancel later if you'd like.

What is the maximum amount i could have gotten for trading in silent hill 2? Did i do the preorder a game bonus correctly? I got $41.60. It looks like I only got a extra 10 percent bonus (I thought it was supposed to be 20) to the pro value on the website which is $38.40. I've never done it before.

Bonus is based on Regular value, which is $32. With current 20% Pro bonus, $38.40 is the maximum. If you trade towards preorder or new title, then $41.60 is the max. So you got the maximum available.

$32 x 1.3 = $41.60

Thank you, just wanted to make sure I didn't mess up. I noticed on trade credit, I'm not taxed on purchases in store but it does tax on online orders.

I only just realized that myself. I thought that depended on the state you lived in, then I realized my recent purchase of Alan Wake 2 didn't have me pay tax. Then I go back and looked at my receipt for the PS5 Pro and realized I wasn't taxed for that as well lol

EDIT: Does a gift card balance, or a mix of that and trade credit, avoid getting taxed as well?

I used to be tax free on trade credit purchases in my state too. It was in store only, always taxed online. That changed a year or two ago, but I always got taxed on gift cards

Any non-pro member get an auto-renewal notice for pro recently?

Got an email from GS today that said my pro account auto-renewed until 2025. Odd thing is I haven't been a pro member since 2022. I checked my account online and it says I have I have been charged, but I don't recognize the digits on the card. Also don't have a card saved on file and my last online order was in 2023.

Dragon Age Inquisiton DLC bundle and Game of the Year edition heavily discounted on MSS and PSN! Warning: DAI on PS5/Pro does NOT run at 60fps.

Edit: DLC bundle on MSS JUST reverted back to $20 but the same DLC bundle is still $4 on PSN. Think Microsoft is watching me...

Fun fact: just got told that you can't trade in a disc drive model PS5 as a digital only even with a cover because the sku is going to say that it's a drive model and it's missing the disk drive.
Woof, that sucks. Glad I was able to sell mine locally. I wonder if this is kinda YMMV based on employee or just automatic based on the serial number.

a few of the values i noticed dropped i don't think were part of the MWT, persona 3 reload, avatar, dragon age were all valued higher before the bump started.
Despite the trade-in drops, the prices dropped as well or at least...they reverted back to BF/CM purchase prices. Just visited a GS store and found:

24.99 Persona 3 Reload New
18.99 Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Used

It's called TruBuy, you can't get game the system anymore with consoles period. An employee would have to consciously go against it because they scan the S/N and it tells them what is required with it.

Probably better then best buy 12 days nonsense.
Actually, it seems anywhere else is better because ever since the 12 Days have started, only the same games are being advertised for sale at GS. It has been a couple days now, and we're still seeing the likes of Diablo IV, MWIII, and CF25 (basically Activision and EA trashware) being discounted.

I didn't really want anything this month, but I did see Persona Tactica for 10 bucks. I grabbed another copy of SmT V steelbook edition for PS5 in store for $20 using the $5 monthly coupon.

I went ahead and placed another order using the $5 coupon again on Persona 5 Tactica for a store pickup down the road for $5.

It's really nice to double dip these coupons during the Holiday deals!

Perhaps it is the same deals that are up for 12 days.

Makes me wonder if GameStop sells the disc drive by itself, and the console as a disc only version.

"Rules are for thee and not for me"

Kind of like when you trade in a game in really good condition. What's stopping them from selling it as new?

They already sell open games as new, so maybe that's where my skepticism of their business practices come into question.

Went to trade in a couple games and talked with the employee. Turns out a couple of el hordeos cleaned them out of Diablo IV. Are they really expecting to make more than couple bucks on them?

Thanks for the update guys. For some reason I thought they stopped allowing trade credit for digital cards.
Glad to see that’s still an option!

What's the limit of same game trade in before you get hit with a trade ban? I have 5 copies of RDR2 (PS4), they go for $28 with the current bonus. Already traded in two to two different stores. Was the trade limit 3 within 24 hours?
4 copies per platform within a rolling 30-day period, though a Jr detective could flag your account early if your trade-in activity looks suspicious.
