It might not be tradable or calling a store to find the value may be the only option.

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

Are there trade limits?
Yes, $500 cash minus some electronic trade ins and or $2000 trade credit in a rolling 30 day period.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).


TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Looks like my town is safe so far. I still don't understand why they think it makes sense to have one Gamestop on a corner, then another one right across the street in a shopping mall.

Yeah, me neither. This is the case for 2 of the 3 in one of the suburb cities here. I'm surprised neither of those is closing yet.
 
Ya I have 5 on same road within an ~8 mile stretch on a road near me. Never understood the logic. But looks like 1 is closing

The store on Bellevue/Monroe in Green Bay told me on Thursday that they're getting closed in two weeks. They're not on your list, so I'd guess there are several others not as well.

No… they don’t. Have you been in one lately? I can show you numerous photos. Target and Best Buy shrunk their game aisles to about 40 slots for games. My local target and Walmart purposely have not restocked game software in the last 3-6 months. Just rows and rows of empty slots.

Now that stores no longer carry movies, Amazon has doubled the price on many. Steelbooks used to be $25, $30, $35. Now Amazon charges $65 for new releases steelbooks.

The AR McCain Mall is only surprising because it's still open. I am surprised by the Oklahoma stores. Norman store is in a great area and there's no competition in Sallisaw. Those stores tend to be clean but no real stock. I certainly would have picked a few others that should close over these but I guess since I don't have the data that's why they didn't ask me. Will be interesting to see what's up next in the chopping block.

Maybe the rent was too darn high.
 
We don’t need games on discs just as much as influencers don’t need thousands of Lululemon prints and boxes of Temu crap. I‘d be more ok with physical media dying off, if there was parity in all that other mass produced junk being equally cut back by the corps that supposedly have our best interest at heart. But that is just getting worse, it’s crazy how much of that ends up in landfills or is just destroyed, and the pointless environmental cost of it all.

Until games become available forever (with backwards compatibility in mind), can be resold back or on another marketplace and there is competition to allow discounts (we get discounts now, but imagine what happens when Sony is the only place where you can buy any games, good luck getting those sales), than we do need games on disc.

I agree that the material can be saved in an all digital world, but it creates a different problem in regards to games. Especially when emulation and privacy is so heavily looked down (by those publishers) on those games that aren't even for sale anymore.

People are just going to buy fewer games. it's simple. It has already gone that route.

The console makers that are whining "zomg no growth" in the industry (PS + Xbox) are culling their own markets. They're more concerned about their own digital store (30% revenue cuts), service fees, and whale shaving. Everyone gets a digital game store, just like everyone gets their own digital television service. Some will die off.

For many years now most customers are buying only a couple of games per year, and spending hundreds of dollars on them instead, via unlocks and cosmetics. WoW created the premium MTX, and Fortnite popularized it. Now it's the norm. We as customers can't help it if these companies want to simply chase MTX profits and poor service. They can just become vapid mobile game companies then.

Console makers are helping neither their retail partners nor game publishing partners. Some consoles / devices are going to fail. Yes, neither Xbox nor Sony are very hip or cool right now; customers are not satisfied, many of them don't even know it, and there certainly isn't an iota of word-of-mouth recommendation happening.

Homosexuality is the least of our concerns considering that same sex-attraction doesn't lead to natural conception and thereby less consumption of limited resources. If anything, one can argue that heterosexuality is the reason why humanity, even nature, continues to experience suffering. Imagine being trapped in an endless cycle of life and death as long as progenitors exist succumbing to and indulging in their base biological imperative for procreation disguised as what we commonly call "love". Mankind be damned, oh wait...historical documents have shown, and here we all are struggling to make ends meet by the powers that be and bickering over 1st-world problems like closures of video games stores and incomplete physical software. I'm fun at parties~

Not sure what happened to the thread but $10 titles from a few weeks ago giving over $30 in trade credit is pretty good, a few titles like FF7 rebirth are giving good trade credit if you bought during the latest B2G1. I was able to pick up a fill first print set of Xenoblade 1,2,3
and Torna. Pretty good condition all compete with cover art, picked up a few gifts to give to family when Atsrobot finally came back in stock used. Looking forward to more deals in 2025.

There are still flips if you buy during a sale and hold for a while waiting for them to go back up. But there used to be like same day flips. (Price is much lower than TIV at the same time) Those don’t really exist anymore

i mean those flips still happen, very rarely though. At best you're relying on the trade-in boost towards preorders or new games to have that extra profit.

But without that, yeah it's slim pickins
 
Took 3 faulty PS4 controllers in to trade. Told dude up front they all have issues (drift, battery doesnt hold a charge, etc). He hooked them up to the testing machine anyway and said 2 were fine and gave me full credit for them. Refurb fee'd the third.
So apologies to whoever wastes their time buying those two controllers and has to take them back.

What's the highest TIV that Silent Hill 2 has been? I think I saw somebody say it was ~$41 a couple weeks back. Having a heck of a time trying to selling FB Marketplace and don't care to try and post it anywhere else.
 
Multiple CT locations are closing that aren’t on the list, Rocky Hill, Groton and Naugatuck for sure. The Newington location potentially as well. That will eliminate my two closest stores which sucks, lame.

I know the one in Sherwood and Happy Valley closed, years ago.

In any case, sad to see whatever stores close. Especially that many around the same time. Not surprising all that surprising I guess.

Newington too? Dang. Knew about Rocky Hill - that was my main. Pretty sure the Manchester one is safe since that one always feels busy. But it is out of the way.

$41 i believe is correct. ebay is honestly your best bet due to it being as ubiquitous as Target instead of FB Marketplace (walmart)
 
When you preorder a game for bonus and don’t want better to cancel sometime or just let it lapse and should go back on trade card?

In the past I’ve done the former just curious if I get too lazy to :p

It won't automatically go back onto your trade card. You'll need to cancel or change the preorder to a new game. I generally just keep changing to another upcoming release. Cancelling is a ding on the employee's metrics, and unless it's a particularly unhelpful employee I try not to do that on workers.

I assume it's a mystery. If you're exchanging for the same game, probably will work. Different game...unlikely.
