Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Went to a gamestop this weekend (it was a shopping weekend out of town, books, antiques, games..wife and I celebrating 5 years)...

went to a retro place called Gaming Gernerations....was really underwhelmed

So walk into a gamestop and we walk out with...4 plush itty bitty plants and no game. I could not find a single game that was worth it.

How times have changed (and yes, heard all weekend how cute the little plant guys were)

I'm super tempted to trade my PS5 in for $330 to get a Pro. MH Wilds just seems rough on the base PS5 and I won't be upgrading my PC anytime soon with how out of control GPU prices have gotten.

Most Monster Hunter games don't run well unless you get the Pro console; Worlds with PS4 Pro being required, Rise with its praise on playing on PC after escaping from Switch, and now Wilds requiring PS5 Pro. Gotta love Capcom.

World/Iceborne runs at locked 60fps on PS5. Wilds will also run at flawless 60fps on PS6.

Gamestop survives on uninformed customers. Saw it firsthand yesterday when there was one customer in front of me. Sounded like a dad buying a new console for his kid because the old one broke. At first he wanted to buy a PS5, they didn't have any used ones left (I'm not sure if he realized he could have just bought a new one for slightly more). Ultimately he ended up buying a used digital only white Series X and the in store warranty plan for like $480. The manager acted like he was doing the guy a favor by applying his own pro discount in exchange for applying the warranty.

Dude could have bought a brand new digital PS5 slim for cheaper. It blows my mind just how uninformed some people shopping for their kids really are.
A couple years ago when the XB1 was still the current console, My buddy worked at GS and right before closing had a customer come in. Customer came in just looking at consoles, and he explained all the different models they had currently. Dude brought the XB1 Elite console lol. Then bought like $500 worth of accessories like controllers, XBL, and games to go with it. Warranties for everything too. So he dropped like $1,100 in one night thinking he wanted to get back into gaming again lol.

they had a set of 3 plush plants at costco during the holidays. My daughter used my monthly $5 on a plant as well.

Sounds like he had a manic mental disorder. no one right in the head would buy all that stuff last minute like that.

I also have an extra ps5 after buying the anniversary / pro models. $330 sounds too good, I might even get rid of it for that price.

I also used the disc drive in my pro - does gamestop still have that weird thing at POS where it blocks you from selling a disc model as a digital model?

I’d say do it. I just got a Pro over the weekend for the same reasons. I stopped gaming on my PS5 as I didn’t want to play lower quality any longer. Just fired up Stellar Blade last night and changed everything to Pro mode with VRR and HDR on.

Negative. I reported this in another thread yesterday. It just trades in as a digital model.

So you took the disc drive off your slim and put it on your pro? Does the pro panel fit on the slim to trade it in?

Really? Wow. I will definitely be trading mine in now. Saves me $80 and I get the same value. Thanks.

Nevermind I won't be able to do it because I don't have a cover plate without the disc slot 🤦‍♂️

fyi the lower plates for the Pro and the slim are interchangeable. The top plates are not.

on that note, does anyone have a lower plate non disc drive spare they can send my way? I need one for testing paint. they don’t sell Pro plates yet unfortunately

This isn't a performance issue like Cyberpunk. Does it make the game unplayable? Nope, I clocked over 900 hrs on Iceborne on base PS4 when it was released and still had a blast! I wasn't a fan of Rise, so I dropped that one quickly 30 hrs in...

The fact that you are stating "Requiring a PS5 pro just to play this game" is silly.

How did you avoid getting ripped off from buyers who claimed that they didn't receive your items or they weren't in the condition described? You were selling on eBay, or is there somewhere better for retro games?

100% of my refund/partial refund requests on eBay has been from video game sales. Always the same story of the case being ‘damaged’ or not new even though the game was shipped in a padded box.

In regards to the new MH wilds game upcoming, after watching the digital foundry video of all of the gameplay modes, I can say for certain that

1) you have to play a game like that on performance

2) it looks horrible, like a PS2 game, on performance

That to me is unplayable in 2025. As Bruce Willis said “I’m too old for this shit”

This is why I ship using insurance. as granted I've only had it happen twice edit 3 times I forgot about the water damage one. but both times I still got paid and my buyer still got refunded. 3rd time I settled on giving them a partial refund since that was quick and easy. and even the buyers sided with me on the damage stuff which is pretty damning of ups and fedex. because I over protect my items with thoroughly bubble wrapping up the item in a padded envelope in a box. So the buyer said they basically must have kicked it up 11 flights of stairs.

At least USPS ground advantage now includes $100 in insurance automatically, so unless you were cheaping out using media mail, you should be good. I had to file a claim last year for something I sold and got the check within a few weeks.

Here's to the guy who was stating MH Wilds is going to run great on the PS5 PRO.

It seems Monster Hunter Wilds has performance issues even on Sony's latest hardware, with an early analysis indicating the game is struggling to maintain a consistent 30FPS.

RIP to one of the better stores near me. They acutally had knowledgable workers there who were friendly and would try and hook up the discounts if the system let them. Hope they were able to find something better. Got there right as the FedEX guy was finishing loading the inventory. Surprised they didn't stay open to clearance out the Think Geek junk. Lease must have been up.

Imagine buying the PS5 PRO just to play MH Wilds, yet you find out that it struggles to run the game at optimal levels. Yeah, no thanks!
If GTA6 runs at max 720p45fps on PS5 Pro...just imagine how spectacular the game will run on base PS5, let alone XSX/XSS, without PiSSeR AI upscaling.

The second one had snow, so definitely also a Christmas movie.
It explicitly takes place at Christmas; there's a whole thing about a parking ticket with the cop tearing it up and saying "Merry Christmas!" at the end.

But the first movie pushed the Christmas angle way harder. The soundtrack, the Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza, "ho ho ho, now I have a machine gun," and on and on. Die Hard? Christmas movie. Die Hard 2? Debatable. Die Hard 3? Not. Die Hard 4 and 5? Not even Die Hard movies, arguably.

With pro todays trade in price is $355.

Is the $25 boost this a weekly deal? I’m torn on selling my extra slim. Since I bought the black plates and matching controller, I like the look of the set. Don’t need the money yet also don’t need the third PS5.
My thing is what the heck would I use the $355 on? My GameStop has nothing I want in store and I don’t trust ordering online from them.
