Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Instore today inside the glass console case I noticed an interesting product. Gamestop branded PS5 Slim plates. $35. Looked close to the PS galactic purple plates but with a vent cutout added to the side.

Is anyone able to find this product/sku on the website? I have not been able to find it while browsing the local store inventory, even though I know they have at least 2. Maybe they're trying to keep it on hush+wink status so Sony doesn't realize?

There are a lot of copies. But it’s probably also the game that the most people own multiple copies off possibly ever made? I’ve never owned 2 copies of the same game. I have 2 copies of 3d all stars (one I’m keeping sealed and one open so I can play it)
Nah, I'd say people buy multiple copies of games where you need 2 copies for 2 people to play against each other or games where you don't want to share a copy so you can play at the same time. Pokemon games people probably have the most reason to own multiple copies of for the family. Animal Crossing is probably up there too.

If you have multiple people in the family and have multiple copies and multiple switches, that’s not really what I mean. That’s not “owning one copy”. That’s multiple people.

I’m saying like if you are one person with no family and you just have multiple copies

So many stores closing.

Seems like a matter of time before they can't keep defaulting to this strategy.
It’s not surprising. Went in to pick up my Mario RPG. No one in there. Saw there was only one other item waiting for pickup.

I mean they can’t even sell their Pro with the ‘you can pick up a Pokemon card pack each month’ anymore since they can’t keep scalpers from buying them all.

How do you double dip the monthly coupon? I remember it being done in the past but thought it was killed.
In your active offers is your $5 monthly coupon. If you go to it there is a code under the barcode. Write it down, screen shot it, whatever. Then use the $5 coupon in store. Enter the code previously mentioned in your cart online and it will work for $5 an online order or in-store purchase. The key is using in store first then online.

seems like pretty weak values, no? Maybe lite is ok but thats about it
Yeah I mean slightly higher than current values. No real incentive for GameStop to give high values for switch when there is 100+million sold and a lot of people will be trading them in for switch 2. I'll be keeping my OLED, might sell the switch lite that I got for $120 a few years ago if the trade value is actually $100.

I have a stupid question. With a defective exchange on a pre-owned item, will you have to get the same item or something of equivalent cost?

Eight, when I bought it they told me 7 days for cash refund or 15 for a defective exchange. I just wonder with the dearth of pre-owned product at my locals, how that works.
In the past if they didn't have the product they would just process a refund, depending on the employee it would either be original method of payment or gift card. Haven't had to return something that didn't work outside of the 7 day normal return period in awhile though.

cool, i never knew this. I'll try it next month.

I also think you can double dip in store as well. I did it accidentally a few days ago, only works if you have two gamestops close to each other. If you use a coupon, it doesn't remove it from their system right away. I went to another gamestop to purchase and they applied the $5 monthly promo again, I didn't ask, they just saw it on my account still and applied it.

Thanks. I got busy with work and the filler game I snagged i finally installed and its jittery and Skippy, only game of 9 with that issue. I could've called them but I trust this place more for real advice. Lol.

Is there a better way to combine gift card credit besides buying an item with multiple gift cards, then returning it to combine the total amount on one single card?

If not, has anyone purchased something in store that way, before immediately returned it right then and there?

I can't find anything to use my monthly coupon on. Checked preowned stock for like a dozen games and no GS near me has any of them in stock. Does no one trade anything in anymore?

You'll only see it show inventory online if a local store has 2 or more.
I used up my mar & apr monthly certs on the Mario RPG sale that ran last week.

Apparently rise of the ronin had a $123 base trade value this morning. Fixed it relatively quick though unfortunately. I wonder if there are any other games trading for a high amount
Doubt they would have honored it, but they did with the Dark Souls goof awhile back. $135.50 with Pro would have been nice. Almost $160 with the preorder/buy new game boost. lol

That reminds me of a time GTA trilogy on switch was ringing up for $80 trade in credit. I did it, bought the digital for $30 since VC+SA were digital anyways (just requiring cart, only old build of GTA3 on there) and also on sale at the time.

Got the physical for like $30ish from Target anyways, so ended up netting about $50 without even not having the game anymore

I've only been really able to make use of the $5 monthly (and double dip) because of magic cards.

The associates at the store are always super confused about why I buy a pack, then then pickup an online purchase pack right after. The last couple months, one guy keeps asking about it and I'm not sure how to respond. Like is it genuine curiosity? Or will he report me to the GameStop gestapo? I just play dumb, and says something about having points.

If it wasn't for the card pack, I would have a hard time making the double dip work.
