Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

There's a promo for Pro Members where your trade bonus is doubled to 20% on all trades.

I forget, does that stack at all with the usual promo for trading in towards a preorder/new game? Like would it be 40%?

Apparently 2 weeks of a pro sale started.
Looks like the site is advertising a blanket 10% off new games. Last time it said select titles but worked on almost all released games. Not sure this time because the site is a broken mess of promos at the moment.

Pro Day/week bonuses have not stacked in the past.

Unpopular opinion but there’s no such thing as price gouging unless it involves essential items when there is a shortage. Like toilet paper during covid.

No one needs a switch 2 or BOTW. If you don’t like it and think it’s overpriced, just don’t buy it. Am I happy with $80-$90 games? No of course not. But A company should be able to charge whatever they think their product is worth, and it’s up to the consumers to choose if they want to buy it
How DARE you post something as logical and purposeful as this. That‘s not how things are done here.

People in these forums scream and cry and pout at every company trying to make a profit. They think that these forums should decide price, not the company producing the product. Shame one you. Turn in your CAG card on your way out.

bro if it stacks im gonna be so pissed since i just traded in a game a couple days ago :(

guys my kid is getting into Pokemon. When does GS take preorders? I think there's a new pack coming out in late may? I have no idea what any of these new packs are.
I think official policy is no preorders on pokemon cards, so you have to just go to store and compete with people waiting overnight on release day. I don't follow it that closely, so it may have changed recently.

Let's see if GameStop survived 2025 at all. They mainly fence Chinese made garbage and a dwindling set of physical releases. The Switch 2 being an expensive flop (not due to anything in their control) will likely be the last thing for them.

I have very low confidence in the company. Maybe it's just my region, but any time I stop in one, their selection is abysmal and their prices are easily beat elsewhere.
I love how you call the switch 2 an expensive flop when preorders are sold out everything they’re available.

Is there a chance of bump in price for a original PS5 trade in? Currently shows $330, which isn't bad IMO for something I paid retail about 3 years ago... (scary to think, the PS5 is almost 5 yrs old).

i doubt it, especially since with double pro days it trades in for $360 right now. possibly if they start giving more for the disc version it could go up another 25 or 30, but the disc and digital versions have been at equal TIV for a while now.

Everywhere but the largest market and we haven't seen the ramifications of massive tariffs.

Most consoles sell out at launch. Even the Wii U did. Didnt change the aftermath.

It's like I take a large consideration of the macro and micro versus typical knee jerk gaming reactions. I know, odd.

Joy Cons at -$36 (highest in some time), saw someone take cash for their Series X I wanted to offer them $50 more as they would have come out ahead of what they got and it would have been more credit for me. $582 for a PS5 digital, a few extra controllers for the PS5 and Switch is not a bad deal.

You’re already calling it a flop. Talk about knee jerk reaction.

Yes...scalpers are gamers too, apparently. Fact check: the UK is "sold out" while the USA is delayed. And I'll do you better, POTENTIAL expensive flop. According to sources, Google Stadia also sold out on pre-orders for the Founders Edition consoles. The rest is history.

I suppose reading comprehension isn't your strong suit.

Perhaps you've missed where I said there's external and internal factors working against Nintendo right now.

The only one being knee jerk yourself as you're obviously not understanding the economic circumstances the system is being released into.

Or rather, why are you being so aggressive against the idea the Switch 2 may not do so hot?

Edit: Look, more evidence. PS5 price to rise in Europe, Australia and New Zealand

GameStops website doesn't show a trade in value for me on an Xbox Series X console. Does anyone else currently see it or did they stop accepting trades on them?

I would recommend a Portal. The cloud streaming is superb. It reminded me of the days of PSP and Vita when Sony took handheld gaming out of the ghetto. Remember when everyone was hacking their PSPs for free games and reduced loading times? This is just like that but all legal. It'll be even better when it supports streaming for other systems than PS5.

The Portal is neat, but limited unless you have the higher tier PS Plus membership.
I maxed it out before they changed the tiers, think I got the highest one till 2028 or so. Figure the Portal cloud streaming can hold me over till the next PlayStation since I don’t have as much time to play since my daughter was born.

I’ll get the Switch 2 to eventually play with her.

Do you have one?
I do. I bought it right away and I have found (similar to with the Steam Deck) that some games are great on a small screen like that. I could see the benefit of having it if I had the PS plus premium membership, but I do not. So it is rare that I find myself at home and the time to play that I am not on my couch.

Imagine a pillow back couch with 3 cushions. I take up 2 and my wife is at the end, on the 3rd. My feet point to a wall mounted TV with a PS5 and my wife sitting on the 3rd cushion and legs propped onto the ottoman (so we form a L) is facing a stand mounted (herTV is 77') with the Series X.

Works great until one of the dogs decides to jump onto the couch lol

I'm baffled by how much they are giving for Xbox consoles. It doesn't make sense for a console that almost no one is buying.
If the market goes to absolute garbage, then the Xbox will likely be the most affordable system. And given people are sticker shocked with high MSRP games, the GamePass sub seems more appetizing.

I could see it being a real underdog in a recession.

Especially since the games get super mega clearanced so even for someone who doesn't want gamepass it'd still be more affordable.

I think priorities are much easier for folks honed in on a singular console or ecosystem. For those of us with multiple interests, sporadic and casual gaming habits, I believe things have become a lot more difficult.

I was of the same mindset as you: right now it makes the most sense for me to get a PC Gamepass sub for 1-2 months. OTTH, I really don't want to be locking my save files and sporadic play behind an Xbox membership gatewall right now. and then always revert back to Steam digital purchases making the most sense. You really do have to get into the mindset of "returning your tapes to the rental store" if you're going to game that way. severing them completely. Be okay with stopping the sub and permanently losing access to your saves. With so many live services, profile building, and campaign unlocking that makes things really difficult now. That's the fallacy of these services. They make themselves really hard to quit.

I have no business belonging to multiple paid monthly or premium gaming services. I don't want that, and I barely use a single one more than a couple full games per calendar year. If there's only one service which you can turn on and off as needed, then that's great.

With how many free games are being given out on epic games store, prime gaming, gog, etc. I’m not sure there is much room for a cheaper alternative victor. In that scenario it would be the free service, or just playing cheap phone games on a device that most already have.

Is that today’s trade rate for the PS5 slim digital, $360 with GameStop pro?

I have three PS5s now and was considering getting rid of the spare one though I don’t need the cash/credit either. With the new trade war news that Sony is raising prices worldwide, it may be better to sit on spares than sell them.

I dunno that seems pretty crappy to me. Besides maybe the lites if you scored a bunch off Amazon warehouse for 40 way back.
Yeah not incredible, but the "pros get 10% extra credit" makes in more interesting. $110 for a switch lite I paid $120 for like 4 years ago seems pretty good. Think in just going to hold on to my OLED I guess.

Depends on what you are comfortable with, even if the prices go up $360 is a great trade value, I got my extra console at a good price and then sold the Fortnite code, so for me $360 was a great deal to trade one of my consoles.

Not going to post the list yet, as I need to verify if data is accurate, but if it is, 228 more stores closing this weekend. They all currently show being closed on Sunday on GameStop Store Locator, but I'm seen false positives like this before and then it switches back.

This coming Sunday is a religious holiday. All retail stores are closed.

It doesn’t make sense to me how or why trade values seem to be high when the new price is only $40 more. Though GameStop is selling new or refurbished dualsense controllers for the same price too.
