Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.
I live in the dallas area and have been to that store. The one on Preston right? They have a lot of cool things there. Im saving up to get one of those televisions as well. They are even thinking about selling the 50 inch they had on display. i wonder what they will think when people by a tv with all credit:D
Like I mention before I did it. I had about 8 giftcard/ game rush cards/ value cards. Believe it or not, I think the manager was happy to be selling it (no matter how you pay for it:D probably gets a kick back or something). To be honest, price(1500 or 1600 with tax) was just ok compared to Best Buy(maybe a 100 dollars more or less), but you cant use credit at Best Buy

a couple of TIVs from this afternoon:

wii FF:RotSS - $30
wii Sonic Riders - $26
PS3 Harry Potter Order of the phoenix - $16

I pray FF RotSS stays at $30 tomorrow. Didn't get a chance to bring it in today. I only plan on buying a Blu-ray movie. Not flipping all over the place.

We can surely hope that with the advent of CAG 2.0, the wiki will now be properly updated so we can start relying heavily upon it once again. :p

nyprimus4 -- It will definitely stay at $30 tomorrow. The trade-in value drops only on Tuesday mornings. :D

As soon as I can find it I'll see what happens. But right now I'm kind of lost. Change confuses and angers me! Io smash!

that would be awesome. absolutely awesome. an outdated wiki for TIVs is almost useless. i appreciate all the work put into it, but if the prices are old, it can't be relied upon.

Well, the thing is not that much work has gone into it recently - mainly because I can't edit for some reason. Or rather, I can edit, but I can't save my changes. I went to the wiki via the OP link and it is the same old one as before with the same old not being able to save my changes (same error).

What are you a fucking video game deal God? Shit. Not every BBV runs exactly the same. Who isn't to say my store doesn't get a call from corporate tomorrow to drop the TIV of FF to $2. You've been at this site for what 2 months? Calm yourself.

Um wow. After this post you are officially on ignore.

Even if they DO call and tell them to lower the price it wont change until next tuesday. Such is how BBV works. If you took the 5 seconds to READ ANYTHING you would know this.

And yes Ive been on this site 2 months, and you know what? Ive forgotten more things then you will probably ever learn because I understand how to read and comprehend things and not look to be spoon fed information because Im lazy. I cant believe you have been on this site 2 years and still make posts that you have made just in this thread alone.

Have a nice night.

LOL :applause:

1. Oh my gosh I'm on ignore. My feelings are hurt?
2. You work at Blockbuster now? I have read EVERYTHING and I read that changes happen on Tuesday but such as how YMMV works managers word reigns supreme over everything usually and they can refuse to not take trade ins.
3. I've forgetting more things then you will probably ever learn?
4. I wasn't looking for anyone to spoon feed me information. And if I did it isn't your responsibility to come back with a one liner every time I have a question.
5. You suck at being a smart ass.

Just how long have you been following BB/GR trade-ins? I've yet to see a TIV drop on any other day besides Tuesday since 2005. This applies to corporate stores only. However, store managers and district managers can deny any trade-in, but I highly doubt they can simply up and change the TIV without some serious question marks being raised.

Perhaps, you'd fare better by not posting anything on this thread for a good long while and learn to READ.

for all you flamers, it's not like he said the TIV would or could drop on any other day but Tuesday. he's just saying that it would be great if he could get his flip in. i don't know why you people need to stroke your e-penis by making some smart ass comment by twisting somebody elses comment. flame me, if you want, but that just perpetuates this cycle of lack of respect.

Alright guys, cool it. Enough discussion of this matter! I ain't never given out an infraction yet, but if I'm going to start anywhere it will be right here...

Welp, my copies of Fatal Inertia come in today. I haven't had a chance to call (was at a Drowning Pool concert yesterday). Heres hoping the value held.

I'm jewish so I really have a hard time following holidays that people are closed on, but do all stores close on July 4th like they do on Christmas & New Years? I know Blockbuster will be open, but I want to hit up some TRU's.

I believe that Fatal Inertia held at $32. My brother called a GR store yesterday.

I imagine stores will be open for a few hours on the 4th at the very least. Perhaps Warner can clue us in.

I just assume most stores will be open. They want my money and I'll have plenty of time since I wont be working.

New site is pretty sexy, hope the wiki works this time around, and shesh lots of bickering already.

Wish noobs would just read the OP, things would be alot easier that way.

Also most stores have limited hours on the 4th. :) Being a catholic, i have a firm grasp on store hours on American holidays (complete sarcasm)

Ditto! I'd gladly pay to have private forums, although that concept goes completely against being a cheapass.

So I'm not supposed to stroke my e-penis? I thought that was the whole point of the Internet.

Went to TRU yestedrday and no FF:RotSS or at any other store.

*Middle finger to the CAGs that got there before me.
being this is the BB AND GS thread, which one is this B1G1 $15 thing suppose to be happening at ? or Both?
It's BB and GR, not GS (Gamerush, not Gamestop). Gamerush is just a Blockbuster with a better games selection.

And to answer your question, it'll be at both (assuming its a corporate store and not a franchised store).

Ttt Ttt, and just yesterday in the TRU thread you were pointing out how personal attacks are against the CAG T&C. Time to go to bed and chill I think!!

Traded in FF for $31 yesterday (they gave me tax money or something). I had to get FF at GS but better than nothing. The manager was dying for me to use my credit towards a pre-order game, but I said no thanks and got a value card instead.

So, I bought a copy of FF on GameTZ and I am going to my other BBV to trade it in there...I don't have to sign up/sign a paper over there if I already have a value card, etc, do I? SORRY if this has been asked, I don't want to read 68 pages.

You have to have a trade account at each store that you want to trade at. They can put the credit on your existing value card, but you will have to sign another trade agreement if you have not traded at that store.

Thanks for the info, and the BS was a typo, meant to type GR

Thanks again though I'll call my local BB on 7/8

Went to my local gamerush today and my PS3 copy of Fantastic Four only netted me $13 dollars. Used that credit to get a used copy of Assassin's Creed for $25 dollars so it wasn't a total loss considering the game only cost me $8.50 at TRU. I was hoping to trade a few copies to get Oblivion:GOTY but I'm now glad I only bought one copy. Is the $30 game credit only for the XB360 or did they lower the price?

There was actually no personal attacks in my post. No name calling whatsoever. ;)

not sure about xbox tiv. But the one that for sure gets 30 is for the Wii. I also bought the ps3 version wasn't sure about tiv,so thanks.

Io
I noticed your list of unplayed games that you have.
I think I can speak for all the people who have played Bioshock. Drop whatever game your playing and open this gem up and enjoy.

Thanks for clearing that up. Just got a PS3 and trying to get some CAG and I remember reading here about Fantastic Four and couldn't remember the version that was $30. Yeah the PS3 version will net everybody $13 now and TRU's are selling them for 9.98 then the 20% clearance sale.

i can say that Utah's or at least Salt Lake city region BBVs won't take FFs for the wii anymore. And btw TIV for Transformer on PS3 is $16 now not $30. Oh yeah where do you guys get Fatal Inertia from? I'm looking for another way to get my cheap copy of MGS 4 for my ps3? Sorry but i read back like 20 pages and don't see it mentioned.

fatal inertia for the 360 u can get it at gamestop for 24.99 before any discount (10% + edge)

4th of July hours:

All BBV will remain open for their regular Friday hours. Having worked the 4th for 2 years in a row (this'll be my first year off), BBV doesn't want to give up the business. It's a BUSY night at BBV with the exception of about 15 minutes when fireworks in the area are going off.

As for any place other than BBV, the majority of stores close early on the 4th (usually 6 or 7PM).

so i've actually never went to a b1g1 at bbv so i was wondering what do you do when you get there on monday and the employees know nothing about it? does it get applied automatically like gs promos? if not, what are we suppose to tell them?

It has to be advertised in order for them to accept it. Check for signs near the pre-played games section. Otherwise, it's not specific to their store (they may not be a corporate or franchise location in that case).

Last time, they had a barcode in their promo materials they had to scan. Most of the stores weren't aware of it yet when i went at opening the day it started. A couple of them found the barcode and scanned it but one store didn't. The guy at that store called another nearby store and got the barcode number and just punched it in.

But yeah, if its not a corporate location, you'd be out of luck.

If you go on Monday and the employee doesn't know anything about it, you come back here and complain so that we can laugh at you and point out that it says 7/8 in the thread title (ie-Tuesday).

But otherwise, mkernan got it right. There will be a barcode they have to scan, so most likely first thing Tuesday morning, employees will be clueless and wonder how you know about it already.

Yesterday i received an ad advertising that for the week of the 4th, all pre-owned movies and games were 50% off. I have a scan but it's on my desktop at home.

Might want to check the specifics, like see if it lists location(s). that might be a franchise / local deal.
