Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.
Cool TIV for Singstar ABBA is $12.

DO they give cash or is it a gift card? store Credit?
Seems to vary a bit. I've been able to get all of my credit put on a GC. You can also leave it in your account. My areas don't seem to have value cards anymore so they've used GCs.

Ouch, painful trade values today.
BBV doesn't want you trading in games anymore. The guy on the phone felt bad for me giving me these prices.

PSP:
$4.50 Final Fantasy I
$3.00 Final Fantasy II
$0.50 Final Fantasy Tactics
$2.00 Silent Hill: Origins
$2.00 Mortal Kombat: Deception
$0.50 Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

Wii:
$4.00 Guitar Hero: Aerosmith
$0.50 Star Trek: Conquest

Yes, those are values of fifty cents for trade-in.

Called another, for some 360 stuff, slightly more reasonable, still bad.
$6.00 Guitar Hero: Aerosmith
$10 Tom Clancy's EndWar
$8.00 Mirror's Edge
NOT Accepting - You're in the Movies
$2.50 Universe at War: Earth Assault
$4.00 Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath

Funny they are giving out 50 cents for games like FFT & MG Portable Ops yet I got $19 yesterday for Rock Revolution. Clearly they need somebody that knows anything about games to handle their trade in prices.

It doesn't look like they're accepting PS3 Civ Rev either. It wouldn't work when the CSR scanned it.

This morning I went to my local BBV store hoping to find Professor Layton and The World Ends with You I struck out on Professor Layton the store had a preowned copy of twewu but it scanned $19.99 so I passed. I did spot Devil May Cry 4 xbox 360 but my xbox died a few days ago I did not buy it. I should have checked this thread sooner.

Snagged a new Rock Band SE for PS3 for $54: complete set. I missed out on the Target clearance, but this is just as sweet.
I hope you're not counting on a future Xbox live bc update to play Spartan on your 360...
Certainly not I still have my old xbox :).

Went to a couple stores yesterday but didn't see Okami or Ghost Squad. Not surprised because I hadn't seen them before. I'll probably pick up Grid and Wall E for the 360. Too bad I don't have a PS3 because they had MGS4 and Bad Company at both.

While I was there searching for games I happened to stumble upon Season 1 of Carnivale, Undeclared - The Complete Series, and Pineapple Express for $20. Kind of makes up for my BBVs having crap selections.

Bought:

Assassins Creed - $9.99
GT5 Prolouge - $19.99

They also had Soul Calibur IV Collectors Set marked at $39.99 as well as Fallout 3 Collectors Tin for $39.99.

(PS3 by the way)

Bought some games I already had, hoping to flip a few...if they don't sell in a few days, I'll return 'em... They said they would take returns as long as they were unopened.

PS3
Wall-E - $15
Saints Row 2 - $25
Ratchet & Clank - $20
GTA IV - $15

Wii
deBlob - $20
WarioLand Shake It - $20
Boom Blox - $20
Geometry Wars Galaxy - $7

Couldn't find any good DS or 360 games at my stores really, and there wasn't a huge selection... :whistle2:/ They did have some good DVD deals and had some dvd games (Scene it Seinfeld, Family Feud, etc) on clearance

Around Torrance in CA, the Blockbusters are picked clean except for maybe the Gardena one. Saw Grid for PS3 & 360 for $19.99, as well as Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 for PS3 for $19.99, both new. Couple of PS3 BF:Bad Co copies as well for the same price.

I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not I should get
wii.gif
Mario Strikers Charged for $14.99. Thoughts anyone? I bet it would be fun to play with the kids, but I wonder if it'll be cheaper used sometime in the near future.

Seems like a decent price, it may hit $10 eventually used, but probably not for a while. The game is fun, but the AI gets ridiculously tough in the harder cups.

I think that is the cheapest you will find for quite awhile. It does have "Mario" in the title after all. Super Mario Strikers is still $20 used at GS.

RR PS3 still gets $19 today. No luck on Heavenly Sword or the cheaper DS titles. Not interested in Prof. Layton, too much backlog already.

Actually, I think a few of the BBV stores by me had BF: BC stickered for $14.99 for PS3, unless they were mispriced, which is how a friend of mine picked up Uncharted from my closest store for $10.

I may still pick up a game or two from this clearance, but mainly the $10-15 ones, since I have every one I want from this deal.
TIVs for, I believe, most Wii games have been lowered. I was given $4 and 4.50 respectively for Ninja Reflexes, and Nights.
Anyone notice this as well? I would really love a confirmation on some other titles before I spend the gas while waiting between classes. Thanks again.
Ya, im pretty sure BF:BC should be $15, doesnt it retail at $20 now anyway?
I think it does because I saw it for $19.99 @ Wal*Mart about 2-3 weeks ago.

Houston Shoppers (610 and Kirby):

I went to the BBV on S. Main (behind Taco Cabana; near Target and Reliant Stadium) late last night. They had 3 SMG in stock....one of them had a clearance price of $14.99, while the other two were fixed from saying $14.99 to $24.99 (writen over with a marker). I thought about buying it, thinking most likely they would honor the price especially since the other two were changed with only a marker. However I don't use Ebay and don't know of anyone with a Wii (I already own SMG). Anyone nearby should go check it out if you want SMG on the cheap or want to flip it.

hey Ryne did they have any PS3 games & if they did what were they?

-thanks

I've been looking for BF: Bad Co. for 360 and the copies I have found are marked and ring up $29.99. PS3 version is $14.99:bomb:

Anyone get the 360 version for $14.99? If so, I could try some other stores.

EDIT: Nevermind. It seems I am just confirming what was discussed on page 70. Looks like $14.99 is only for PS3.

Haven't been checking CAG lately, so walking into BB and seeing the clearance prices was a nice suprise.
Bought..
Saints Row PS3-$25
Motorstorm Pacific Rift-$30

Wario Shake it is tempting for $20, and I would definitely pick up Professor Layton if I could find a copy.

i would still consider that picked clean

Found TWEWY and got excited til I saw it was used and $19.99 . Stupid backwards ass pricing (had them check the computer to make sure). Oh well. Might go back for it at that price anyways.

Yeah, I saw BF:BC for $15. The BBV store I saw had 4 of them in shrink wraps.

The Manhattan Beach GR BBV put out a ton of stuff this week. I still saw quite a few great deals today.

Oh sure, you were totally oblivious to this sale and walk into a random BBV and find one of the games I wanted from this deal, while I've been to 5-7 of my local ones and I found everything BUT that game(SR 2).:bomb::bomb:

Then again, that's what I get for NOT checking the BBV thread very regularly since I stopped flipping and seeing as the TIV's @ BBV have become WORSE than Gamestop's now, I doubt I'm going to be doing much of that anymore(least to BBV anyway).

Thanks for posting this sale list, Io. I managed to pick up:

:360: Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts $19.99
:360: Lego Batman $19.99
:ds: Sonic Chronicles: Dark Brotherhood $14.99

I passed on Grid, but might go back and pick it up. I heard it's decent.

I would've capitalized more on the sale if I didn't already have The World Ends wth You, FFCC: Ring of Fates, and Blast Works.

Anyone in the Northern Kentucky area, the Ft. Mitchell store seems pretty well stocked with titles, so you should find a lot of the games on the list Io posted.

Found

2 LoZ: PH $10
1 WarioWare Shake It $20
1 PS3 FarCry 2 $20
1 PS3 Assassin's Creed $10
1 Sonic Chronicles $15
1 Rachet & Clank FToD $20

Also bought a used Advance Wars Day of Ruin for $15

I also saw multiple PS3 GTAIV SE, PS3 Rachet & Clank, WarioWare Shake It, FarCry 2 (Both), PS3 BioShock, Lost Odyssey, CoD5 ($40), and Banjo-Kazooie marked at $15 (priced wrong?).

Was very surprised at all the titles still available. BBV is a treasure trove compared to the terrible sales Target, Walmart, and Best Buy have been offering lately.

Wow, with the crappy trade-in values I'm really tempted to trade a Singstar Abba that cost me $9.98 at Target... I mean, I was about to take the leap of spending real cash at BBV so while in the past $10->$12 would have been a horrendous flip, it is better than the alternative. Plus I can keep the minty new case for when I buy used PS3 games (by swapping it out for one of the used ones I got during the B1G1 sale). I think I might just do this!
Went to a BB in Buena Park, CA on Knott and Lincoln. They had no signage up and everything was mispriced. So I found a new The World Ends With You for $15. Saw they had two Professor Layton's and Sonic Chronicles for DS. Didn't see much for 360 but Dark Sectors and Blue Dragon and some other titles. PS3 was also lacking. Blast Works for wii is there. If you're in the area drop by might find something you like.
Went to this one on your tip and didn't find any TWEWY. Oh well...

I did see the following for anyone that cares...

:ps3: 1x Bioshock
:wii: 2x Wario Land: Shake It
:ds: 2x Professor Layton

Hey fellow CA Cags . The BBV on Twin oaks road had a bunch of 360 ps3 and wii games .
All the Mario wii games /strikers/basball/galaxy/olympics and many more .
Almost all the games for 360 and ps3 that are listed .

The store seemed untouched . No great DS games besides Sonic Chronicles .
Also the staff was amazingly nice and helpful .
I picked up Grid and Mario strikers charged . Is strikers worth $15 or should I return it . I don’t play my Wii often so im debating not keeping it . I would have bought more but money is tight .
Good Luck

I was shocked when I found the GTA IV SE the other night, since I figured it would've been sold during the first week of the sale, but I guess enough people figured only the 'normal' edition was going to be $30.

But you saw MULTIPLE? That is a shock. Though I still wish my local Target would've accidentally pushed a couple of the PS3 GTAIV SE's behind some of the systems, since I'd have rathered pay $12.48 or whatever the lowest price for it was, even though $30 was still a steal.

Sorry that I'm sort of reposting the same question, but I was just wondering if these sales on PS3 multiplatform games are also available for the 360 versions.

Glancing over io's spoiler-tagged list in the first post, it would seem to be the case that the multiplats seem to be applicable across both consoles.

Of course, actually finding the titles on your desired platform can be iffy or YMMV. For instance, I saw a SR2 (PS3) at a BBV earlier today, but its 360 counterpart was unseen. Side note, as I probably will update my post with this in the BBV trading post, but I remember seeing someone wanting the PS3 version of SR2, so perhaps we could work out a deal (plus it'd give me someone to play co-op with :p)

Any more Folklore sightings in So Cal? :\

Edit: Oops...by So Cal I really meant around Los Angeles. Thanks for those who Pmed me though. :D

Man what's up with some of these prices. Didn't Blockbuster typically offer MORE for a PS3 version of a title and now many of them are selling for LESS than the 360? Assassin's Creed, Bad Company, Far Cry 2, and Saint's Row 2 are all cheaper on PS3. Far Cry 2 irks me because I still don't have it. Oh well, I did see a copy of Grid that may be mine come Sunday.

Yeah, ever since BB dropped their tivs I haven't even bothered to check this thread. I only stopped in to BB to return a game that was getting stuck on the loading screen, and whoa, what a nice suprise. The copy of PS3 Saints Row 2 I bought was the last one they had. I can also confirm that Battlefield Bad Company for PS3 is $15, while the 360 version was much higher for some odd reason. My daughter as been asking for Professor Layton, so I'm really hoping to find a copy for $10.
Does Blockbuster have Assassin's Creed 360 for $10 and Fallout 3 CE 360 for $40?
I'm wondering the same thing about Fallout 3 CE 360. Enough people have said that it's still 59.99, but i hope I can find one and that it drops 39.99. I just bought the ps3 Fallout 3 CE for 39.99, but I'm an achievement whore. I don't want to start being a trophy whore, but I like the blu ray bonus disc.

Man, my closest BBV had a great seleciton. I only really looked at the PS3 but I saw R&C, Bioshock, I picked up Socom bundle.

No Folklore thhough.

Man, I totally got cocky. I traded in 2 copies of Rock Revolution, one PS3 and one 360, spread over two days, and the manager called me out on it. My account has been flagged apparently. Anyway, I was still able to get Cranium Kabuki for $10, and then flipped it at another BBV for $16. Tomorrow's my last day of BBV game hunting. I'm not going to risk any more trades of Rock Revolution.

And yes, the TIV for that is still $19 as of today.
