Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

Onenchabara burn my eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew that was a bad game to buy but until I started to play it realize how bad it looks in HD, it's like I removed the guts of my Xbox 360 and replace them with a early release game for PS1.

Never again...........................

Found some awesome finds in Chesapeake/Norfolk VA (Emptied most of the blockbusters out of good games)
got....
GTA 4 (PS3, 14.99)
OneChanBara, Bikini Samurai Sqaud (360, 14.99) (Really wanted this one ^_^)
Blue Dragon (360, 6.99)
Virtua Fighter 5 (360, 6.99)
The Club (360, 9.99)
Kingdom Under Fire:Circle of Doom (360, 9.99)

Was pretty happy with my finds (Aside from the Club >_>, was hoping for Bioshock, or Folktales)
I saw Resistance 2 for 29.99 at 2 BBV's today. Not a bad price if you guys are trying to unload credit.
Resistance 2 Collector's Edition is only $29.98 at TRU as well, for those who want the collector's edition instead of the normal one.

Oh and to those saying there's NO trade promos going on. What about the 20 and 25% more trade offers at GS right now.

The 20% promo(30% with EDGE)is towards ANY new item and the 25% promo(35% with EDGE) is towards pre-ordering/buying a select group of games(Batman: Arkham Asylum, Halo ODST, etc).

I'm sure some of you could find a workaround to take advantage of the 20-25% promos, like some of us did for the Fight Night Round 4 deal a bit ago. *cough cough gift receipt n return cough cough*
So, is anyone buying this stuff to flip, or is this all just stuff for your personal collections? And why are Bolt, and that Onebarach189$&*!?:) game so popular? Doesn't Blockbuster know they're only supposed to run this sale when GS is doing their 40% extra trade-in deal? Bah.
Seems as if its barely worth trading into GS or Amazon with the lack of promos. Even the former heavy hitter GTA IV has taken a dive down to $10 at GS, so if you're lucky enough to find two of them for $15 (or $16 after tax) you'd only get $22 at GS. I think trying to build up any credit from this sale is going to be a lot of effort for very little.
Didn't someone say they were going to try and get a PS3 from flipping in this sale? I don't know, with the $7 profit you might make trading a couple of games into GS (assuming no refurb fees from scratchy ex-rentals) and the $5 you might make flipping back to BB, I question whether its just easier to save on gas, time, and sanity, and just sit home and buy the PS3 off Amazon.

Personally, I still have a couple of games from the last B1G1 that I haven't gotten round to playing yet. I'll do the rounds this weekend, and if I find two games worth getting I'll consider that a success!
you can trade in a PS3 and 360 copy of GTA4 and make $10 if you trade it in towards ODST then cancel the preorder later.

Dang, the PS3 list look fairly similar to the one last time, except couple games seems to went from $14.99 to $9.99.

Did Spider-Man: Web of Shadows for PS3 drop price this time?
Resistance 2 Collector's Edition is only $29.98 at TRU as well, for those who want the collector's edition instead of the normal one.
 You keep saying stuff like this - like anyone can just stroll into their local TRU and find these things. The other day you told me to get PS3 component cables there for $7 or so. Well, 4 TRU's later and all I've found at any of them are $19.99 third party cables. The clerks who know what I'm talking about say they haven't had the Sony ones (that were on clearance) for ages. Same goes for that R2 CE. I looked for that weeks ago when it was first mentioned here and there are none about. Thus, it is HIGHLY YMMV at this point that anyone can get one.

A serious pain in the ass, though, for what little you'd get out of the rather measily pickings at BBV. I didn't even consider it. I'd rather just go for the GC trade-ins.

Picked up
Pure (Ps3)- $9.99
Dirt (ps3)- $9.99
Monster Madness (360)- $4.99
Dark Sector (360)- $6.99

all for $19 at my local blockbuster.
Keep in mind that games like DMC 4 have been through multiple B1G1 sales. It was a hot ticket item TWO sales ago when it first hit $14.99. I think it was $9.99 at the end of the last one. So they are pretty much cleared out unless they got more rental covnversions or actual trade-ins. And keep in mind with it being just $9.99 anyway it is not a bad purchase straight up. So there are lots of YMMV in finding that one at this point ;). I haven't seen one in ages myself.
I actually went to one last Blockbuster near my house tonight. I picked up Devil May Cry 4 and The Club (both 360)for $9.99 total (plus tax). Both in rental cases, but DMC4 had a booklet, which is cool. DMC4 I really wanted, The Club demo on XBL was ok, worth $5, so I am happy with my small haul.

Whoa Pure is $9.99? I think its marked $24 or so all around KC. Anyone else confirm its only ten?

Picked up GTA Chinatown Wars and Ninjatown. Both were marked at 14.99 but rang up 9.99. The guy mistakenly rang up GTA as Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades, so it may not actually be 9.99 at other stores.

Picked up 8 games for $37.xx after taxes:

LocoRoco 2
Bourne Conspiracy (360)
Frontlines: Fuel of War (2 copies)
Viking (360)
Patapon
Condemned 2 (360)
Tomb Raider Anniversary

All mint/complete. Will most likely use this stuff as trade fodder.

Wait...GTA Chinatown Wars was $19.99 at my BBV and it's corporate owned.
Can anyone else confirm it's $14.99?

Pure came up as $24.99 but it was stickered $9.99, so the cashier overrode it. I saw Midnight Club for 360 stickered at $24.99 but it was in the bin, is it $14.99 and just misstickered or just put in the wrong bin?
Still haven't seen anything answering my earlier question...

Is this all Blockbusters, or just Blockbusters with Gamerush?
All corporate owned blockbusters.

Picked up
:wii:
Spiderman web of shadows
Final fantasy CC Echoes of Time

:360:
Onechanbara (This had better be good)
Madagascar 2 (for my son)

Had
:360:
Bully
Viking
iron man

:ps3:
Army of Two
Wall-E
Condemmed 2

I think I got all the good wii games though.

Stopped by my neighborhood BBV to see if there was anything good. I saw that they had a bin for the B1G1 sale. So I started looking through it. I think I would have found a better selection of games in the local GameStop dumpster. Nothing but pure trash!

Wow, why do I listen to you guys about Onechanbara. This has got to be the worst game I've ever played. So many people were saying they want to pick this up. Uhm... why? This is going on Amazon, $8. Good thing i picked up Sonic with it so I payed $16 will get back $19.

I picked up the following from 2 more Blockbuster stores tonight(all for PS3):

Lair
Iron Man
Ratchet & Clank
The Club

Everything except for R&C is complete.

I stopped by about 4 BBV today and none of them were running the promotion.

Of course, it may be because I was out in the boonies. One even had SNES and PSX titles for sale, but $2.50 was just a bit too much for Madden '94.

I plan on hitting up some Atlanta stores this coming Saturday, so maybe I'll have some better luck.

I had a pretty nice haul today from 2 stores, so it made up for striking out at 3 stores yesterday. At the first store I ran into one of those ladies who couldn't figure out how to ring me up so I'd get the best deal, but it worked out in the end. Here's what I picked up. All 360.

$14.99
GTA IV
Shellshock 2: Blood Trails

$9.99
CSI: Hard Evidence
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man
Wall-E

$6.99
Dark Messiah: Might & Magic Elements
Earth Defense Force 2017
Universe at War
Winning Eleven: Pro Evo Soccer 2007

I felt kind of bad for the employee of the other store in town. I asked him for the books, which apparently they store in the back(good god what a terrible idea). Then he had to ring me up on one of the store's employee accounts but rang the games up all together(2 15's, 2 10's) so I asked about that and he fixed which crediting on an employee account isn't something you can normally "just do", lol. I kind of just figured he would ring it up right, I'm used to doing it, but maybe he was rushing since it was just him and looking for the books for me made a decent line behind me.

Another haul from today
DS
Pokemon Explorers of Darkness - 14.99
Star Wars Clone Wars Jedi Alliance - 14.99

360
Ninja Gaiden II - 14.99
QOS - 14.99
Beautiful Katamari x 2 - 6.99

Wii
NCAA Football '09 - 9.99
Hulk - 9.99
Bully - 9.99
Onechanbara - 9.99
My Sims Party - 9.99
Mario & Sonic Olympics - 14.99

Most of these had "Display Only"cover art. And about half of them had instructions. Mario & Sonic was disc only. One would have to think I am about done with this, but I have been surprised at the selection I have been finding. Would like to Find FF:CC for Wii though.

Got lucky with penny guides TWICE. First store I got SF4 and a bag of chips to "cover" the penny price, but the girl saw it, tried a few things and then said I was lucky that they were supposed to have pulled it and that she'd go ahead and sell it for a penny.

No Cranium Ks or oddly no Rock Revolution around at any nearby GSs so I got a Race Pro to transfer credit to BBV ($18 after edge cost @ GS/$15 TIV @ BBV) and at a second store picked up DS CoD WAW and the DS Star Wars Clone Wars game. This time I got MGS4 penny guide without being noticed by the cashier. I hope 360 GH:WT drops down from 19.99 before the sale ends.

By the way, either I missed it or this one isn't in the spoiler list at the top of the OP:

DS Call of Duty World at War $14.99

And sadly I saw this one that isn't in the OP although I think it's fairly new and if so may have trade potential:

360 Hannah Montana Game $14.99

For this B1G1 I've bought so far......
(i think a couple of these are pretty new price drops)

4.99
The Golden Compass - 360
Dirt - 360 (I played the crap out of this game already (1000/1000 Gamerscore), but I couldn't pass up for this price). It wasn't mistagged either. This is actually $4.99 for the 360 if you can find it.

6.99
Genji Days of the Blade - ps3
Monster Madness Grave Danger - ps3
Rayman Raving Rabbids - 360
Conan - 360
Elibits - Wii
Cranium Bukkkkake x2 (yeah, I can confirm they still have $16 TIV) Everytime I find one, I have a little party in my head because I know it's an instant $3.50->$16. When I find a copy, I hope the BBV employees don't hear me say "Bukkakeeee!" in an uncontrollable fit of excitement.

9.99
Def Jam Icon - 360

14.99
Star Wars Clone wars Lightsaber Duels - Wii
Boom Blox - Wii
de Blob - wii
New Play Control Pikmin - Wii
GTA IV - ps3

I'm not into these types of games, but I saw:

disgaea 2 - 6.99
soul calibur II - 6.99
soul calibur III - 6.99
Kingdom Hearts 2 - 9.99 (one store had 3 of these but no covers)

All for ps2

Should I go back and buy disgaea 2 to flip or keep as a collectors item or something? I don't play rpgs.

Also, I saw at least 5 Mario and Sonic at the Olympics with original covers today. I didn't know they were still trading in for freakin' 16.25 on Amazon or I would have bought them all. During the last B1G1, I only saw 3 copies and they were all at 1 store.

I have never seen Mario & Sonic At The Olympics at a BBV and I would definitely pick one up if so. I guess I'll ask at my local store tomorrow if any others have it in stock.

For this sale, I've seen 1 copy at at least 5 different stores. I should meantion that I've been to at least 12-15 stores so far for this sale, maybe more because I've lost count. I have a feeling you will find 1 if you head out soon before they get snatched up.

Today I traded at 4 stores I've never traded at before. I've also been getting rid of the Saints row 2 games from HWV (along with Cabooki). I still haven't spent a penny at BBV.
Are penny guides actually marked as such?
No, they're apparently pretty strict on destroying them so you'll want to not attract attention to the super cheapness of it.

How do you know if they're pennied? Is there a list for BBV.

Went back today and saw that they put everything up front with a nice "B1G1" sign. Of course, I knew in my head that would mean many of the items were probably gone. Missed out on a Bioshock, however, they seemed to have gotten a Wii Onechanbara mysteriously, so I'm hoping for more converts over the next few days.

Can anyone in Hawaii confirm this? I just called the 2 nearest Blockbusters and they both told me that there wasn't a sale.

Damn! Went to 3 BB and only got Gotham Racing 4 and Wild Arms. Not bad for 10 bucks. I've wasted at least 3 hours on Wild Arms. Might suck more of my free time. Better than last few times where I came up empty handed.

at one of the BBVs i went to there were no signs and cashier said there was no sale BUT i had the cashier ring up two of the qualified games. it does the discount at the very end when they total it out or whatever

so i went back and got a bunch more games

Wii
Nights Journey of dreams 6.99
Spyro 6.99
Samba de amigo x2 6.99
This did start today here. But the pickin's were slim at Makaloa and Kahala. Piikoi was already pitiful before this announcement. Looks like they haven't restocked since getting hammered with the GS FNR4 tradeins.
Kapolei had signage up, but nothing really good. Only a couple small shelves of games on the endcap.

Yeah it started in Hawaii.. You shouldn't call to find out, as I made the mistake of calling one yesterday and the worker told me it didn't start. But I called back today and another worker told me all BBV's here should've started the sale on Tuesday. I went to the one by Ala Moana and got the last copy of Pikmin and Mirrors Edge, they had a mistagged GTA IV(360) for $6.99 though. I went to the one on Kapiolani I think (I just moved to Hawaii) where the Papa Johns is, and the selection sucked assssss. Planning on going couple more tomorrow. Good luck !

Also I saw that Madden 09 (PS3) was tagged $9.99, can anyone confirm this is the price? The blockbuster I saw it at had some mixed up prices so I'm not too sure.

Went to 4 BBVs in my area (DFW), and they all FAIL.

Spiderman WOS - $19.99
Star Wars Force Unleashed - $19.99
Prince of Persia (PS3/360) - $24.99
Far Cry 2 - $19.99
Soul Calibur IV - $19.99

. . . and a bunch of other titles listed here for $14.99 ringing up for more than that. I had them check it at the register btw. I hope they are not tricking me.

I also failed on the penny guides, because I acted like I was surprised. fucker called the manager and said they cannot give it to me. The next time I will not act, I will be blunt and say, I WANT IT AT THAT PRICE. I really don't need the guides but for being basically free, it wouldn't hurt :)

Fail SALE for me. They also removed all of the penny guides from the floor :( I guess it's called Karma since I had such a good haul from the HWV sales.

No, no, no, no, seriously dude, no. It has a $16 TIV at BBV. I would feel so bad if u bought Kabookkake at BBV and traded it into GS. Flipping from BBV to BBV or GS to GS is severely frowned upon here, but Cranium (insert disgusting sexual act here) is a long running BBV Thread tradition.

Well, from that list, the only thing that should be ringing up 14.99 is Spiderman WoS and SWTFU is only the Wii version IIRC
Well, from that list, the only thing that should be ringing up 14.99 is Spiderman WoS and SWTFU is only the Wii version IIRC
All versions of SWTFU are $19.99, I thought Soul Calibur IV was $14.99. I only put Far Cry 2 and PoP for reference so that people living in DFW don't have to bother having their prices checked. I remember the other two titles that were ringing up at $19.99, Bioshock and Mirror's Edge :(

By the way, GTA IV is $14.99.

I went to 5 BBV and picked up the following games

DS
Fire Emblem $9.99
Zelda $14.99

Wii
Resident Evil 4 $14.99
MLB Power pros $14.99
Final Fantasy: Echoes of Time $14.99
Onechanbara Bikini Zombie $9.99
Ghost Squad $6.99

PS3
GTA IV $14.99
Quake Wars $ 14.99
Haze $9.99

XBOX 360
Mass Effect $14.99
Ninja gaiden II $14.99
oo7 $14.99
Devil may Cry 4 $9.99
Project Sylpheed $6.99
Mirro's Edge $14.99
Army of Two $14.99
Onechanbara Bikini Samurai $14.99

It almost ended my Marriage, but it was so worth it. :)

they had Prince of Persia at $24.99 and many other games that where on the list where priced higher even after price checks. I'll try to go again today and see if they have lowered the prices. Maybe is a push they have not received.

Is anyone seeing any extra Ghost Squads? I could send you like $13ish money order if so. Been trying to get a cheap copy for a while now :(
Wow, why do I listen to you guys about Onechanbara. This has got to be the worst game I've ever played. So many people were saying they want to pick this up. Uhm... why?
I'm with you on that! Picked one up last night after hearing how everyone wanted it. Played it for like 30 min and cant believe how much it sucks and I love hack n slash games! Who knew that zombies and boobies would be such an epic fail?!?!? Saw on ebay people are paying up to $20 for it so may sell mine on their....
