Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

June 25th - July 1st, 50% off used games $19.99 and under

See here for the deal: http://www.blockbuster.com/stores

There used to be a coupon to print for it, but now stores should have the bar code to scan at the register.  If not, show them their own web page (above) and maybe they will figure it out.

See BlockbusterGuy's thread for a list of titles eligible under (and commonly found at BBV) for the promo:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/310423-blockbuster-video-4th-of-july-sale-bogo/

Coming July 2nd: B1G1 free on games $29.99 and under

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note that anything below here might be out of date. To be honest, I have no idea if Blockbuster even takes games for trade-in any more!

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit will be placed onto your store account
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at Blockbuster, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Monday. We are not currently sure when trade-in values get updated but a few years ago it used to be on Mondays. Any quotes given in this thread may thus be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

A sale like this is so great in theory, but in my driving range the execution leaves much to be desired. PS3 selection is so poor, its tough finding 2. Usual store in my area might have 20+ xbox games, but your lucky to see 10 ps3 with 5 of those being fallout.

I will be lurking here jealously waiting to hear the hauls some of you CAGS pull in when this starts.

Is it just me or was the Blockbuster listing on Google Shopping removed? I remember using Google Shopping during the B1G1 to get a general idea but now nothing shows up at all.. Boo!

nice! there's a stack of ps3 games $14 and under at my store that i'd buy if it's under a good promo. Hope it stays there til promo starts. =) My credits there have been slowly reducing because of snacks lol.. mostly due to the store manager peer pressure.. haha
Cool, hopefully there are some price drops in the next few weeks.
Indeed. If a few of those $19.99 games (or $24.99) games find themselves dropped to $14.99 (and the stores get some new stock for the sale) there is some seriously potential here.

I am a little saddened though that the deal isn't as good for the cheaper games, in some ways my favorite part about the B1G1 is picking up a couple of games I've never heard of for $2-$3 each.

Certainly is the scenario I'm hoping for!

Very true though, sadly, I have not seen any really cheap games at the BBVs in my area in awhile.

Yeah. I noticed this as well when I was looking for LSW3 a while back. It sucks since the few remaining BBVs aren't that close to me or each other.

I will have to check out and see what games are in stock before this starts. No other sale or promotion has helped me build my game collection like the B1G1 free sale. This promotion sounds amazing. Thanks Hawaiiboy!

Ah!!! It was 100% accurate for me during the last b1g1, super easy making my lists for each store. Now it's gonna be like walking into Kmart...

Quick question: Is blockbuster ok with return rebuys? There are a couple of stores near me and ideally I'd like to jump in on the 5/30 but it's highly unlikely that 1 store is going to have everything that I'm looking for.

Generally not - especially with used stuff.
Generally not - especially with used stuff.

And guys, Google shopping still works for Blockbuster but you have to put "blockbuster" in every search. It was the same way during the last sale - didn't work just on game titles then either. That was when it changed as I thought I was out of luck when I went to search stuff out for purchase then!
That's the only way I knew how to use it, and it doesn't work now. I put "splatterhouse blockbuster" and nothing comes out. During the last B1G1, that was exactly what I did and it came back with results. Not this time though..

Woah! Did I read that correctly? 15 and under games are 3 for 20 bucks? If I can find a couple I'm in! :whee:
Let us know when HB!
It does sound really good. And the 5 for $30. But I have a hard enough time finding TWO games to match at 1 store, bad selection. Last B1G1 I didn't purchase any games.

LOL I hear ya man. Last time the BOGO sale was going I could only find one 15$ game I wanted and so I grabbed a 20$ game with it hoping it would still work if I paid 20$ but they denied me. If I can actually find 3 games I have no problem playing then I'll happily pay 20$ for the 3 of them. I might pick up two 10$ games with it and do the 5 for 30$ deal if I can find some good ones.

I guess it depends on the store itself. Here's hoping.
ALL $14.99 and under pre played (used) games will be 3 for $19.99 or 5 for $29.99. it also includes gift packaging if you want it.
That sounds amazing. Thank you for your continued awesomeness.

As io said, the general answer is "no". Being a CAG and doing this often and being used to Gamestop's policies, I assumed that they were, and it became a huge ordeal during some B1G1s. One store was really cool about it (the first one I went to), and then all hell broke loose at the second one. I wish the store would've actually told me that ahead of time.

You get a "30 day gameplay guarantee" on all used games, which just means they'll swap it out for another copy if yours doesn't work, but aside from that, it's basically all sales are final.

I totally agree with you. Hopefully, there will be new games marked down.

yeah, i'm having the same issue w/ kmart unfortunately

FYI: I don't know if the following date is when the 3/$20 or 5/$30 dealie is gonna start or not, but the one manager at BBV tonight let me know that on November 18th my closest store is gonna have a 'grand re-opening' of some sort or other.

So I'm definitely gonna try to keep that date open for now so I can get there at opening.

I scouted the store while there earlier and she said they pulled 50 or so games to convert to used, including some I hadn't seen prior on the pre-owned shelves. Unfortunately there were a LOT of $39.99/$49.99 titles. Even funnier though is that they brought back a TON of artworks(after having just clearanced them 6 months ago:roll:). Not to mention they had at least 1-2 new release games(saw a new/sealed copy of Uncharted 3 by the registers) out for sale again.

While there they also mentioned a MW3 tournament or something that they were going to have in the store with the prize for the winner being a 6 month game pass. The one customer who was there
white dude talking like he was black
was saying if they needed another controller for the tourney he could bring his in but mentioned it was a modded controller.;)

Either way, I'd keep an eye out on the 18th as it IS a possibility as the BOGO's typically started around Thanksgiving/Black Friday in prior years I believe.

everything IATCG posted is pretty much correct. to fill in the blanks a little more here are a few more details. nov 18-20 all stores are running what they call an "open house."
stores will have their own theme but all the sales will be the same.

all $.99 rentals will be $.49 every friday til the end of the year. we'll be having some kind of promotion with coke and popcornopolis.

sat the 19th at 3pm is when the COD3 tournament begins for each store. winner gets 6 month combo pass and runner up gets a 3 month pass.

our store also coverted over 50 rentals to used and they were all older titles that will be either $9.99 or $14.99.

we still dont have a definitive date on when this starts or all the details but it has got to be next week sometime to kick off the open house weekend.

you can mix and match ANY previewed movie or preplayed game to get the 3 for $19.99 or 5 for $29.99 as long as they are $14.99 or lower.

there is gonna be a deal for new retail movies but it hasnt been finalized yet. its probably gonna be any $14.99 and under title will be 3 for $24.99 and 5 for $39.99 or something similar to that.

and finally price drops this week effective 11/7 all titles listed are dropping to $14.99

Thanks HB!
Is Spidey Shattered Dimensions only 15$ on the PS3? I'd love to pick that up.

I'll get Mafia II, SvR 2011, Fable III, Spidey (if it's available) and I saw my store had a copy of Test Drive Unlimited II. Good score for 30$ if I can get it.

Now, that should make the selection a little better. I know I've seen AC:B around and maybe some of those Wii games as well. And it will be extra nice if we can combine used blu-rays with the games. That should make it easy to find 5 at most stores. Just need a start date!

IATCG - in the past, there has actually not been B1G1 around Thanksgiving - but usually in early Dec. But with this new sale and "re-opening" stuff that is all out the window anyway so I wouldn't base anything on past sales.
not sure. we dont have any on x360 so it doesnt show up on the price drop list.
I see. I'll just go with the glass-half-full view on this one and pretend you listed it on 360 as well ;)

Great deal coming up. I just hope my store is fully stocked. I'll probably stop by first thing in the morning on the day of since I go by that place on the way to school.

You and me both :bouncy: but I'm not even in it for the flipping. I've got a month-long break coming up at the end of December and I need some games to play.

I'm going to sooooooo love this sale when it happens. My blockbuster just happens to have a few copys off ass creed brotherhood, dead space 2 and bulletstorm ! (rubs hands together in excitement)

My closest BBV has been stocking up and im seeing so many goodies...im going to need to add to my store credit soon...the 80 or so i hve is going to go quick!

eyeing uncharted 2 for $14.99, hehe.. let my cousin borrow my copy awhile back and never saw it again, this promo would be a good chance to get it back.

And speaking of Uncharted, i really enjoy 3 and has me thinking of the vita just to see what naughty dog can pull out off

:ps3: dead space 2 is $14.99 and so is :360: spiderman shattered dimensions

Let me know of any price checks you guys want as im sure more titles dropped but unless we stock a game it won't show up on the drop list.
