Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

June 25th - July 1st, 50% off used games $19.99 and under

See here for the deal: http://www.blockbuster.com/stores

There used to be a coupon to print for it, but now stores should have the bar code to scan at the register.  If not, show them their own web page (above) and maybe they will figure it out.

See BlockbusterGuy's thread for a list of titles eligible under (and commonly found at BBV) for the promo:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/310423-blockbuster-video-4th-of-july-sale-bogo/

Coming July 2nd: B1G1 free on games $29.99 and under

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note that anything below here might be out of date. To be honest, I have no idea if Blockbuster even takes games for trade-in any more!

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit will be placed onto your store account
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at Blockbuster, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Monday. We are not currently sure when trade-in values get updated but a few years ago it used to be on Mondays. Any quotes given in this thread may thus be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.
My Blockbuster had a shit ton of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood copies. So maybe I'm a jerk flipper but I could have cleaned out all of those copies and made one insane profit via trading them all into amazon but I only took two copies of the 360 and PS3 versions. Leaving like 10 copies of the game. Rounded those four out with Heavenly sword.
If I recall, you can only purchase two copies of each game for each platform, and you can only sell two per account to amazon.

good little haul today, picked up a total of 8 games at two stores and everything worked a treat. One of my usual stores hasn't restickered prices in so long that none of the 14.99 games were stickered properly (and a couple were still labeled at >= 44.99). Still rang up fine though, so I was able to get a couple great things that seem to have flown under other people's radars.

Thanks as always hawaiiboy. Hopefully I'll get to swing by another bb before the weekend is up so I can find a 360 copy of Brotherhood (need to finish the 1000/1000 on that guy).
So does anyone think (since this is the first time they are mixing and matching games and blu's, that buying 10 in one transaction will not ring up correctly?
I had no problem with them doing groups of 5 earlier in store. My closest store got $120 of my money and a second store managed to grab another $32(after tax). The manager at the first store even said he'd 'let a copy of the Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 BR into the mix n match sale' for me if I did another 3 or 5 bundle.

So I'm gonna see if my one buddy will pony up like $10-15 since the first store didn't have much of anything I'd actually want gaming wise, but I know he hasn't seen HP: TDH P2 or played MK Vs. DC, both of which they had there this morning.

Thanks for the heads up on this sale, Hawaiiboy.

Silly rabbit.

Alright I have a question before I head into my Blockbuster. I don't know if this has been asked before:

I know Blus are a part of this sale, but does the blu have to be $9.99 and under or can it be $14.99 like the games?

USED blu rays that are included in the sale are any at $14.99 and under.

There is also a deal on NEW, sealed blu rays:

$12.99 and under 3 for $24.99 or 5 for $39.99.

I went to 4 BBVs today. Not a single one of them knew about the sale. But first some BBV TIVs

Dead Island (360) - $22
Halo Reach - $8

Store #1 had the worst selection I'd ever seen at that store. I thought maybe they had put the games aside to set up a display or something, so I asked the lady working there. It was obvious she had no idea what I was talking about & said "It must start this weekend."

Store #2 had a pretty good selection. All the $14.99 & under games had been moved away from the other used games. But there was no signage. I traded in my Dead Island & walked out of there with 5 games for $10. And as I left I saw the old guy working the counter head over to check out the games, now that he found out about the sale.

Store #3 had an even better selection. Got 5 more, and got a "holy crap" from the clerk when she hit total. Always fun.

Store #4 had the worst selection of all, and the dude who was working was wearing jean shorts & a sweater. I'm not even sure he was working.

But here's my haul. All 360, all for playing.

Assassins Creed Brotherhood
Blur
Dead Space 2
Dead Rising 2
Mafia 2
Medal of Honor
NFS: Shift 2
Rock Band 3
Spiderman Shattered Dimensions
Test Drive Unlimited 2

As always, thanks Hawaii Boy!

Hit 3 stores...but should have stopped at 2 as #3 had nothing of interest. Also - no signage at any of the stores. Got 15 games & movies. I'm good 'til March. :)

Funny note - another store called to talk to the clerk as he was ringing my stuff up and he basically told the guy on the phone everything I had just told him. Apparently somebody was trying to buy a "metric a$$ton of movies" (no lie) and he had no clue about the sale or how to ring it up LOL.

just got 5 for 30. good deal. i love getting 19.99 games and them telling me it's 15 under, and im like yeah, just scan them, lol.
they had bout 10 ac b left, wish i would have locked in more. spent 33, getting back 70. thanx so much hawaiiboy and cags.
wish i could grab more games for playing, but first world problems, i already have them all....
What happens if I get 6 games? Will it ring up as $30 + another $15 game or will it ring up as two $20 transactions?
Yeah. That's what will most likely happen, which is why you should grab another 2 games(or Blu-Rays/DVD's) and make a 3/$20 grouping.;)
Yeah. That's what will most likely happen, which is why you should grab another 2 games(or Blu-Rays/DVD's) and make a 3/$20 grouping.;)
That's what I'll probably end up doing. I can't see myself just getting 3 unless the selection is really poor. When I can get two more games/movies for just $10 more, that's what I'll try to do.

The wait is killing me. I want my damn car! It'll probably be another couple of hours before I can even head out.

My BBV had mostly 360 games. But I got Bulletstorm, The Shoot, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong Miniland Mayhem. Some 360 owner is going to hit the jackpot.

Checked out my BBV last night, they had a few AC:B for PS3 and they had Infamous marked 19.99, think that is supposed to be 14.99, not sure. Will definitely take advantage of this sale if that stuff is still there tonight.

they had tdu 2, shift 2, and bulletstorms but are those filppable? also brotherhood incomplete is worthless flipwise right? just wondering if i should hit it back up or not. you guys had me worried with your multi bbv runs and having them hold stuff, but my one store was good enough for me ;)

Went to one BB. Not a bad haul: Lego Pirates and SW:III, NFS Shift 2 (360), Rock Band 3 (Wii), Goldeneye (Wii). They had 3 copies of Kirby EY but they were scratched to hell. Didn't see any AC:B as I would have liked one to keep.

I ended up getting a lot of TV seasons, the games they had were mainly 19.99 and over (I checked the list on here and had them price check)

I did 3 for $20 on VG:

Epic Mickey - Wii
Dragon Age 2 - PS3
Assassins Creed: Brotherhood - PS3

Then I did 5 for $20 on TV dvd Set's (all of the season are grouped for $15)
- Dead Wood seasons 1-3
- Season 1 of United States of Tara
- The entire set of Band of Brothers

I can say the sale was well worth it, but I didn't think i'd have gotten a steal on DVD seasons, but I got the games I wanted. I passed on Haze & Dead Space 2.

EDIT: Also all 3 stores I went to here in OK did NOT have any signage at all. The first store the girl was really nice and stumbled through it, but she was really nice... and good looking ;D. The second store the guy was a bit surprised I knew about the deal and tried to say it started tomorrow, I kindly told him I went to the first store and the employee there had already sold me items for the sale, so he went through and stumbled through it as well. The last store is my "home store" I had games on hold but they were put back on the shelf (though the manager won't be happy because she put a note on them for me to be held till tomorrow) But they were rude, so they'll get a complaint from me, I left without buying but I'll go back to talk with the manager and I'm sure we'll get something worked out :) )

Wow, El Hoardo showed her true face today. Stopped by on my lunch break and it was completely cleaned out. Talked to the employee, he says they were there right at open with a plan. Cleaned out the entire store then promptly went to two other locations and did the same thing. Honestly the ONLY game I saw left was World at War. This is exactly why some of us non-shitty-ass people are trying to hold a few for ourselves.

To whoever these shitty people are who are doing this in Southeastern PA, fuck you from the bottom of my heart.

I really hope Blockbuster gets a clue and starts putting limits on these. They want to get rid of the inventory, yeah, but they're also pretty big on getting out the "hey look, blockbuster is still here" message. Which is completely nullified if every single one of their sales ends 5 minutes after open because one hoarder cleans them out.

That depends on where you're taking them, Velo. But Bulletstorm tanked($6 per version:roll:) at BB, so that one's out unless you don't mind making about $9 for a copy.:whistle2:#

But that's all I'm saying here. Answer your %!@&in' PM, dammit.

Just got back, Fable 3, final fantasy xIII, ass creed bro, dead space 2, bulletstorm for xbox 360. Another was there with me, he was a flipper I think, had 20+ games and was still getting more as I was checking out.
Clerk didnt know about the promo, I was there last night and the other clerks did though.
He let me look through all the discs to find the least scratched.
Im happy, I wanted kirbys epic yarn in place of fable 3, but I got a great deal. Thanks hawaiiboy

First store pickups:

Dragon age 2 (360) x2
Assassins creed brotherhood (360)

Store 2
Dragon age 2 (ps3)
Assassin creed brotherhood (ps3)
Assassin creed brotherhood (360)
Spiderman sd (360)
Fight night champion (360)

Total spent, $53.59
I was the only one there picking up these deals and knew more than the clerks.

After trade ins im left with:

Dragon age 2 (360)
Assassin creed brotherhood (360)
Spiderman sd (360)
Skrim (new 360)

Thats a good day of trading!

Store #2 I got Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Mafia II, and Two Worlds II . The rest of the PS3 games were sport titles. Thanks CAG, and I'm done for this sale, now back to Skyrim.

Wow, I never see TV seasons grouped. TV discs are usually a bad deal because they sell each disc individually. Are other people seeing this at their stores?
lol my BBV is now unflippable, but there are still plenty of games if u want to buy to play.
Mine is worse. The only good stuff left is the more pricy games. I basically own the flipping scene in my area lol

Bought 25 games between 2 stores. All different, all to keep. Will post breakdown later
today. Got lucky at my second store and the employee converted anything I wanted from rental.
My worthless Blockbuster isn't in on this sale. fucking bullshit.
Did you actually bring up 5 games or movies $14.99 n under and have them TRY it? Or did you go in looking for signs saying there was a sale, since they DID NOT have signs posted about the sale at either store I hit.:whistle2:#

Im going to so try this later today after work or tommorow morning
Wow, I never see TV seasons grouped. TV discs are usually a bad deal because they sell each disc individually. Are other people seeing this at their stores?
All 3 BBV I went to in Oklahoma had grouped TV seasons, they had at least 1 table at each store for those. I was tempted to try and get the seasons of Soprano's but didn't want to bother with it. All the TV seasons discs were in pretty decent shape, I figure it'll be alright. Worth checking out as all grouped were 14.99 for the entire season. It was originally apart of the 2 for $20 deal?
Im going to so try this later today after work or tommorow morning
I tried that, no luck. Glad it worked for you though!

Went to the BBV on woodforest in channelview, TX and picked up Dead space 2, Dragon Age 2, Dead Rising 2, Dante's Inferno, and Formula 1 2010. They had a MW2 hardened Edition $30 really wished it was $15 so I can add it to my collection. I also wanted Fable 3 or Metro 2033, but they didn't have any. There's no AC brotherhood, but a lot of bulletstorms and enslaved if anyone wants them. I didn't check the ps3 selection.

Just got back:

Dead Space 2 PS3
Dead Space 2 X360
INfamous
Dead Rising 2-PS3
Dead Rising 2-Xbox 360
Bulletstorm;Ps3
Dragon Age 2-PS3
Dragon Age 2-x360
Pokemon Diamond(Pearl Was inside), so will return
Metroid M

Also, the guy at one of the stores was super cool with the bluray deal. The 5 for 20. He let me include a few that shouldnt be allowed including Crazy Stupid Love, Pirate of the Carribean, Potter Deathly Hallows Part 2,.

Good Deal. The last of all the games, not much else in San Marcos & Escondido CA.

Thanks HawaiiBoy!

FYI, best buy tiv for ac:brotherhood on ps3 is only 5$. I should have remembered they were just selling them for 10 this week. 360 still got me 11$.

Found a bunch at another local Store, ended up with:

Fight Night Champion(360)
Singularity(PS3)
F1: 2010(PS3) x's 2
Harry Potter ATDH Part 2(PS3)
Dragon Age 2(PS3 & 360)
NHL 2011(PS3)
AC: B(360)
Prince of Persia Trilogy(PS3)

Haven't seen anyone list PoP but I think it was priced wrong because she had a funny look on her face when she rang it up and said oh well. Not bad for $64 after tax

Sorry to hear that man, I live in Southeastern PA myself and managed to find the games I wanted no problem. Grabbed Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Crack in Time, and Heavenly Sword.

Both. But I could only find 3 games from their meager, piss poor selection. They all rang up as individual $14.99 items. The cashiers, as always, are nearly clueless and/or inept. No discount. No deal. No sale. Waste of my damn time. Still might try another store after work.

Crappity fuck fuck. I knew I passed up a decently valued game earlier:)ps3:F1 2010). Now do I go back out and grab that n 2-4 other games or do I skip it for now n hope it survives the length of the sale?:whistle2:#

First off, THANKS HAWAIIBOY! :applause:

Went to 4 stores, first one had the most, then subsequently less and less each one I went to.

Picked up:
Epic Mickey
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Metroid Other M
007 Bloodstone (360)
Spiderman Shattered Dimensions (360)
Two Worlds 2 (360)
The Orange Box (360)
99 Nights 2 (360)
Fable 3 (360)
Splatterhouse (360)
Assassin's Creed 2 (PS3)
Prince of Persia (PS3)
Heavenly Sword
Enslaved (PS3)
Transformers War for Cybertron (PS3)

15 games all for the total under $88. At the first store the manager kept messing up while trying to ring them up so I got 5 for 20! :hot:

I was actually very surprised to still see about 4-5 copies of it still sitting on the shelf when I got there, could have grabbed them all but figured only 2 would be good enough for me :)
