The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Gen. Discussion & Info
I lost Shadowmere a while ago and haven't been able to find her - bitch is gone. I also rode the unicorn but that bitch also left me. Horse whores.
Shadomere will be available everytime it gets lost or killed. Check your log notes, the guy who gave you the horse tells you where to go back incase you lose him. I think its the same spot where you originally got him, right outside that big tree.

Same thing happened to me, as well as losing the original Waynon Priory horse. Screw a bunch of horses, anyway. I don't think they grant you Athletics experience, so it's better to either high-step it yourself or fast-travel.

Just beat the Dark Brotherhood quest -- to go along with completions in Mage's and Arena. I have one more ranking to get in Fighter's Guild, and four or so in Thieves. I'm at hour 160 or so, and level 39. It's starting to become more chore than fun, as most of my favored skills are maxed out (Sneak, Blade, Blunt, Alteration) and I pretty much explored everywhere.

Still digging it -- and even spent 45 minutes last night killing everyone in Anvil to get my bount around 16,000 -- but looking forward to finishing up and putting it behind me. I'm thinking I'll go back and finally beat MGS 3 (but this time on Subsistence) next. Or perhaps play Prey. Any opinions on it?
Your horse should be at the stables of whatever city youre in, it follows you when you quick travel It stays at the door you entered through or at the stables. The town where the mage is I forget since I dont play often but it should be in the first city right next to where you had to find that one guy to give the amulet to.
well quick travel didn't work (but I has in the past). I checked chestnut handy stables and it wasn't there. this game needs something like epona's song from ocarina of time.

found it. It was at the imperial city water front. It also answers the question of why I have "horses stolen: 1" on my stats sheet that I was looking at a minute ago. Is that priest horse lost forever or would it be back at the church if I ever need it?

played the PC version of this today, and I have to say I perfer my 360 version. It's not very often you perfer the console version of a game over the PC version.

Speak for yourself. I generally prefer console versions to PC versions (of course, I don't really have a gaming PC).
Hey, is it hard to up your stats in this game? Does it take a lot of time doing boring stuff like in morrowind?
It depends on what major skills you have, so pick wisley.

ya the game is just filled with a bunch of boring stuff you wouldn't like so you should just go spend your hard earned allowance money from your mommy on something better, like some pokemon cards, or yu-gi-oh or wahtever shit you kids do nowdays.

Just got this game today so this should keep me busy for a while.

Enjoy. You have a world of gaming ahead of you. (literally) Thats one of my favorite parts of the whole game is leaving the sewers and having the whole world in front of you and you realize you can do what ever the fuck you want. Such an awsome feeling to come from a game.

It's been said before a few times in the topic, but you definitely want to make a save point right before you exit the Sewers. It'll save you an hour or so each time you want to start anew.

Wow. I got out o the sweres and decided to climb the mountain. The view is amazing.

Hey, I killed 2 females near the castle, they had thsi book about some vampire chick who teaches this other guy about different species.

It prmpted me to talk to them whiel I was fightng them. Did I just kill potential quest givers?

Oh, and btw, does every little camp site have someone who it belongs to? I wanted to meet the guy in the Gnoll mountains, maybe something he could've given me.

Oh, that sucks, no ownder they attacked me at the ruins near the exit of the sewers. Lol this game is so much fun, I'm doing the quest where I have to find out where the guy gets his inventory, because his prices are the best around and it's making the shops close down. Hehe, waiting for him to leave his shop.

Forget the main quest.

Where can I buy more lockpicks, I'm in the Imperial City? I can never get the timing right, so I waste them over and over........

With more skill, does it push the thing up for longer giving you more time to lock it in place, or what does raising your skill do?

I guarantee 95% of the questions you're going to ask have already been answered in this thread. Also, figure shit out on your own. It makes the game much more fun.

Genocidal is right, you're about 5 months late with your questions. They've already been answered within this thread, probably numerous times. People don't want to keep answering them over and over.

Yeah, from what I read it doesn't even matter, a skeleton key is far more useful. I'm going to work on finding where it says how to get it, had to be asked in 61 pages.

Here's a useful tool, you've probably already seen it, but if you haven't it will save you time. Go to the top of the page and find the button that says "Search This Thread" click it and type "skeleton key". Someone posted a map to it a while back.

Okay, I have these 2 weird things happen to me, one you guys could probably explain.

So I'm heading to ket the item to give to the dark elf woman for the skeleton key, so I go by this rune, and it gives me an enchanted sword (12 attack power, awesomeness) and an enchanted cuirass (9 defense, also pretty nice). So I'm heading that way, and I see this guy on a horse, riding really fast and suddenly he disseaprs. Can anyone eplxain?

Also, funny thing happened, I went to the Wildeye Stables, and I stole a horse, noyl thing is, nothing happened, it was red so I nkow I didn't pay for it, but the guy was standing there just saying goodbye ofr something, no one cared.....weird glitch?

EDIT: Damn, I put away the sword and now it's gone. Well at least I know if I ever ned it, I'll know where to find it.

I think you found a summoned Daedric item, they automatically equip to you for a certain amount of time when you activate their shrine.

I have no idea what that disappearing horse was all about.

Hmmm. I only now found out I have to be level 10 to get the skeleton key quest. So I went to the arena, and beat my first 2 matches, uses lots of potions though, I'm only level 3. How ironic, I go to the Arena to gain levels only to find out it's hard at my level.

Enough oblivion tonight. This game is way too big, I can see people taking years to fully complete it. Or at least me. I'm actually scared I won't get t omy other games.

Btw, to anyone who cares, I reccomend watching My Name Is Earl. I am at I think episode 13. Pretty awesome.
Usually all the camp sites are bandits. They will attack you on site.
There are exceptions, though. One camp had a Master trainer in one of my main skills -- Acrobatics or something. I believe it's northeast on the map. At another camp, I killed one of the guys stealthily, but the other was nice to me. When I revisited, one attacked me, but the nice guy had my back.

King_Sprout, I second what others are saying: Try to find out the answers yourself. I know you're excited about being immersed in a great game; we all were. However, this thread is not meant to be a personal blow-by-blow blog of our Oblivion exploits. I suggest A) getting a LiveJournal account to chronicle your adventures, and B) finding a good FAQ on GameFaqs to pillage for info.
Wow, this thread has come a LONG way. 61 pages and over 1,200 posts!
Fitting for such a wonderful game. To date I've put 125 hours into it and only need the last Thieves Guild achievement to be all the way done.

All the way done is a relative term. I assume you mean with the Achievements. I spent a lot of time finding as many locations as possible and doing non-essential quests. It's amazing the random places where quests will pop up. Even dungeons you cleared out once before will repopulate after a while, and restock items.

For example, anybody else ever find the temple of the moth or whatever, up in the mountains? There are these monks that are nice when you're outside the area, but go deep into their temple and they're quite a bit meaner. I never had an actual mission there, but spent a lot of time exploring the subterranean dwelling.

There's a Thieves Guild mission that involves them.

Interesting, thanks. Thieves Guild is the only thing I didn't finish before I shelved the game.
Anyone hear of more DLC being released for this game?
They just released one a few days ago... some kind of hideout for evil characters.

If you have any desire to go back and play some more, I'd highly recommend finishing the Thieves Guild, because the last mission is fantastic.

You have to break in to the Imperial Palace through the sewers and steal one of the Elder Scrolls for the Gray Fox; after you steal it...
The Gray Fox is able to remove the curse on his hood and go back to his wife, that Countess in the east. You are given the hood and become the new Gray Fox.

I noticed 2 mistakes in Bruma...

1. What the Inn owner says is wrong. Lyra Rosentia's house is not to the west of the chapel, but to the northeast.

2. Fetid Jofnhild had 2 different voices. An old man's voice when talking about Grey Fox, and manly hero type voice when he talks about everything else (like when you give him a coin). He also uses his old man voice when nto talkign t oyou, to say spare some change for an odl war veteran or something like that.

Nothing big, just something I noticed.

That was actually about 2-3 weeks ago.

Okay, awesome, thanks.

Also, I just finished the Brotherhood quest, and while it surprisingly feels good to do someone justice in a video game, the amulet doesn't really feel all that great as a prize. It says it fortify's speed by 6 points, but I see no difference in my speed.

...Which Brotherhood quest? There's about 16 of them...

I'll keep that in mind. Most of the final quests for each Guild story arc have been pretty cool. I really want to work through MGS 3: Subsistence and Dead Rising at the moment, however.

Uh the Vampire brotherhood one, where the guy kills his 2 friends for theirk eys to open the chest to get the artifact. In Bruma.

So uh...anyone have an answer as to why this is?
So uh...anyone have an answer as to why this is?
I have an answer: Ignoring you. Damn, you ask the most redundant, easy-to-figure-out-yourself questions, and you just don't stop. They used to say there are no stupid questions, but Internet forums have taught me otherwise.
So uh...anyone have an answer as to why this is?
Dude, seriously, WHO THE fuck CARES?! No one knows why the guy in Bruma's voice is different when you talk to him at different times! How the fuck are we supposed to know that shit! What do you want us to say,

"Oh, yeah, when we were making the game we thought it would be fitting."

NO!

despite getting kind discouraged by some bad missions the first time i got this, picked it up again.

question about the DLC-- do these places attach to the main world or do you choose them separately or what? also, are they worth it?

They're in the main world. I don't think most are worth it, the only one I have is the Wizard's tower which gives you a place to do a lot of cool stuff (enchanting, spell-making, alchemy).
Does anyone know what happens if you download all DLC's, and then start up the game? Will there be a bunch of Quest pop-ups?
Yes.
