The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Gen. Discussion & Info
You complain a lot. Everything I read that you type is always complain, complain, complain...... First FFXI now Elder Scrolls :) . But, Yes they are makign a patch for this game but i'm not sure what kind of patch they are working on.
ffxi is stupid inherently. Oblivion is actually a good game marred with technical problems. Of course I could talk about the "radiant ai" but the least I expect is for a damn game to run decently. Load times are worse than GTA for PSP

I don't know what mediocrity you expect in your console games but this is pretty frickin bad =p The game crashes at random too.

The load times for me really aren't bad, the only length of time it ever takes is when loading a savefile. It can really get slow if, like me, you have over 800 savefiles though.

People who like to complain usually warp timeframes, as well. At the most, my load times are 8 - 20 seconds, which would be warped into 3 - 4 minutes in the mind of someone who whines and tugs on their genitalia at the drop of a hat, in addition to posting e-tears online. I assure you, nobody gives a fuck.

My game never crashed. It's your 360 that is crashing.

For the rest see what Brak just posted.

There seems to be a lot of whining in the world today in general. Especially when it comes to geek related things such as video games and comic book movies (X-Men 3 anyone?). No one seems to be willing to just go with the flow anymore and has to find, and whine, about every god damn thing in the world nowadays. Oh well what are you gonna do...

on the contrary It seems like your fanboy minds are construed in the such that you've lost your damn testicles. Apparently you don't mind when companies fuck you in the ass and lower the standards of games. But hey who am I to complain since you want to suck Bethesda's cock. After all we should all just accept it and become nice little sheep. You think you're so badass for being a mindless fanboy?

now to the details, no game before this has crashed as much as oblivion. Load times do approach 1 minute after a couple of hours of play. So yes there is an inherent problem in this game being buggy as hell. But hey fuck patches right? all you fanboys seem intent on bending over some more while they shove retarded marketplace products up your ass. Thanks for all your unimpressive input.

I've never played a game where they paid so much atention to detail as much as they have on Oblivion. I am seriously shocked and amazed everytime I play. From all the little quests that they involve you on, to how every conversation with each character is different depending on your skills, or whether you have your weapon drawn or not. Its got an incredible expansive environment.

As with every game, there will always be bugs, glitches, and complaints, which means room for improvement. No game is perfect, which is good for them and us, this gives the developers a chance to try to outdo themeselves everytime.

Agreed. Like I said it never froze on me. Load times were generally about 15-20 secs. With the MINOR problems this game, it is still one of the best Games I have ever played.

This is coming from a Non Fanboy. If I was a fanboy it would be of SquareEnix :)

Yeah, I generally play only shooters, and I'm blown away by Oblivion. I admit there are some technical problems, mostly with framerate when traveling in the open and too many load times. I did freeze once, in the 25 hours or so I've played. I don't think I've ever waited more than 20-30 seconds for a load, and most are much faster. With all the variation people are seeing, there has to be some 360 performance contributing as well.

On a completely different note, did you guys see the ESRB changed the rating to M?

Ladies and gentleman, I give you The Man Who Proves People Right.

If you think people playing Oblivion are lowering their standards I'd like to see what game is acceptable or even great in your eyes. It must involve virtual reality sex or something. Oblivion is easily one of the all time greatest games ever. And as someone mentioned earlier .. I dont believe there's ever been a game with so much attention to detail.
Ladies and gentleman, I give you The Man Who Proves People Right.
That's right, you are a fanboy ;) I'm sorry Brak, emo apathy just isnt as cool as you think it is. =(

And you people seem to be mistaking the game's quality itself and technical issues. I never said the game wasn't fun or wasn't detailed. get your stuff straight.

They need to include a cache timer or something so that it cleans itself every now and then in their next patch(wait have they patched this game at all yet not including add-ons).

My 360 has crashed at least 10 times while playing the game, I dont know what to blame though as it doesnt crash when I play other games.

I've had exactly 1 crash when I've been playing this game. I'm inclined to believe that since this game is such a system hog that if you've got one of the bad (or marginal) 360s then your going to experience crashes more often.

It is the game. And the fact is you really shouldnt have to defrag the cache so often if they did it properly. But hey, why complain when you can just bend over?

Irrelevent to both the discussion at hand, in addition to reality. How am I a fanboy? Because I was commenting on you complaining too much? Great logic, kiddo.

"Emo apathy"? What a hysterical potshot. So hysterical, in fact, that it doesn't make an ounce of sense.

"Lowered standards", "Buggy as Hell", the game apparently "rapes us in the ass" if we enjoy it, etc. This is all up for debate, which is a fact that you can't handle, as you think your charming, little musings are absolutes.

As pimpinc said, it's your 360. For as many people who have problems with this game, there are those who don't. I've never had the game freeze once or stammer in the loading screens, as have others.

You purchases the game for both PC and Xbox 360... Play the PC version, if you have gripes with the 360 version. Hell, if you already had the game, why did you buy it for 360? To complain?

You're not even good at double-talk, so why do you try?

I'll gladly claim myself a fanboy of a game as great as Oblivion. I personally don't bitch about small nuisances when there are so many other great things going on in the game. Complaining to a bunch of people on a forum is lame, if you want to complain, go complain to Bethesda! Nobody here cares because nobody here can do anything about it!

Is there a cheapass way to recharge magical weapons?

I just found a badass sword but it costs about 800 to recharge it, and I just fought a battle in the arena which used brought the fully charged weapon from 800/800 to 450/800. I only have about 7500 gold so there's no way I can afford to keep recharging it.

As usual you miss the whole point in order to try to sound condescending. But hey if you say something is irrelivant it must be true amirite? Let me explain it simply so your simple mind can understand. You downplay any criticisms of the game as merely complaining when I'm not the only one experiencing these problems. And yet again you fail to refute any of the main points. For many users Oblivion is the first game that has caused this many problems with crashing and loading times. Hell they've already gone out and told people there is a problem with the cache yet. So yeah you ignoring there is a problem means you're a damn fanboy or just plain dense.

You can take light of all the "taking it up the ass" comments but it's what's happening since you refuse to hear anything except what your blissful little mind tells you. You're not even good at comprehending simple arguments, so why do you try?

Sure they came out and said there is a cache problem BUT you don't need your HDD to play this game. I like they implemented using the HDD for the load times and such. We can all see that when the cache is filled up, granted you have a HDD, the load times can become slightly longer. Just think would if they made the game without the HDD support. Either way i'm hapy with this game. The simple issues (for me atleast) don't take away the 70 hours of mindless fun I had. I can't wait for Elder Scrolls 5.

Were previous Elder Scroll games this good? Just curious, there's no way I would go back and play them, the new one is to good looking for me to go back to older gen.

no, I agree the game is well worth the money. Doesn't mean I can ignore the problems. I actually havent played the game this week because of the issues though. It is a major turn off when completing quests.

yeah but what is the point of bitching to CAGs. WE aren't the devs, WE can't do anything for you.

Dude, everything you've accused me of you're doing -- tenfold, and then some, as you're the only one calling names.

I've addressed every "argument" you've brought up -- my universal theme being that you're complaining to complain. You say the load times impair your game play, so you're not playing anymore. You're halfway there, man -- the final step is ceasing to rain on everyone’s' parade, as nobody gives a rat's ass.

The "long" load times, bizarre glitches and other minor gripes (and these are minor gripes) are overshadowed by the game's insane amount of content.

So, yes; you are the master of arguing. You haven't addressed a single rebuttal, you merely repeat yourself, in retort, like a broken record, and you also call names. You're the shit, kid. :)

Simply put, I'm a fanboy because I don't agree with your whining... erm, I mean "opinions".

It's always good to question conventions. Hell, we wouldn't be where we’re at today, if we, humans, hadn't. However, people are quick to questions senseless conventions so they appear to be intellectual or bold. You’re not smart for complaining about a video game online, kid -- Hell, you paid for the fucking thing. Doesn't that make you the polar-opposite of "intellectual"?

Now, I'm sure you going to quote this, call me an "emo fanboy" and repeat your previous complainings over and over again. That's charming, and all... but this is my last response to your mindless, genitalia tugging bitchings. I don't want to the topic to spiral downhill, specifically with your belligerent namecalling, so I have you on my ignore list. If you do respond, I won't be able to read what you said and retort -- as we all know, everything you say can be thwarted... but we can't have icecream every day, can we?
no, I agree the game is well worth the money.
Then what the fuck are you bitching about?
Doesn't mean I can ignore the problems.
It doesn't? Why not? This game had gotten perfect 10's from very few gaming websites and publications, so I don't understand why you're expecting the game to be without some problems.
I actually havent played the game this week because of the issues though. It is a major turn off when completing quests.
Or maybe you've had something better to do than play video games this week. Oh wait, what am I thinking? You probally haven't.

Is there any cheat code for Oblivion that will unlock any door ?

I cannot get any further in the Mages Guild questline or the Orrey quest since according to my compass, Bothiel has apparently locked herself in the Orrey and will not come out so that I can give her the parts.

First time I've had something like this but it definately is a pisser.

Its not the first time Zoglog has done this. He apparently thinks whining on CAG will solve all of his problems in life.

From what I heard its a glitch after donwloading the Orrey. You wont be able to complete the mages guild because of this. I havent worked on the mages guild because of this. I've heard suggestions of deleting the Orrey from your HDD and then playing through and see if it works, after you complete the quest (if it allows) re-dowload it.

Hmmm .. I might try that. Should be able to redownload it afterwards since it's tied to the gamertag .. cant hurt (hopefully) to try. Thanks.

So is there any purpose to leveling over 20 for new types of weapons and armor? or is that the cap for armor and weapons? What about items with unique abilities, like reflect?
