Current Trade in Promos:

GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

my guess:

1. he didn't do 4 at the same store and

2. the pos allows more than 1 copy per transaction. it's up to the associate to stop it from happening.

Interesting video was posted today about the history of Gamestop and how they have no clue how to battle their decline.

What are some good games to buy taking advantage of the 25% off 2 pre-owned? Having a hard time thinking of anything I really want besides shadow of colossus and Portal 2.

Preowned games that are on sale this week, like Kingdom Hearts 3, God Eater 3, Ace Combat 7, and Dead or Alive 6. There's a higher chance that you can make some profit on them in a future bump.

So with GameStop stock at it's lowest since 2003 how quickly do we need to get through our credit you reckon?

I know I'm going to basically grab eShop and Xbox Live cards but was waiting to see if we got any good promos.

They have to become retro stop.

It’s the only way.

Of course that means they will have to accept they will be a niche store from now on, but it’s the only way to survive. Pops and shirts and backpacks and bullshit isn’t going to do it.

I wouldn’t call, if store is not that far and you know they don’t ask for ID then either you will have a successful trade or worst case employee will tell you the same thing the last store did.

Unfortunately it appear to be account trade limit. I went to GameStop that doesn't check for ID, once they check my elite card I was told I hit my trade limit.

Chains don't suddenly disappear overnight. It'll be a series of closures, then later more closures, then later more closures. You'll know about it long before anything is official.

Theres not enough long term demand for that particular nostalgia. Stores are already seeing drops in demand for retro stuff

If they had improved their online store (be more like Amazon, PUR members get free shipping), they would have made more money. If they just stop selling gutted games, that would help. Right now their online store is run like something out of the 90s.

I read an article a while back on seekingalpha about them being in serious trouble if they got rid of their dividend. A big portion of their shares are from dividend income funds. Which explains the huge drop in price.

https://seekingalpha.com/article/4250960-etf-flows-hitting-pause-button-gamestop

Weakening profits threaten its membership in the S&P 600, but cutting the dividend could see it lose big money from dividend income funds.

With over 50% of the ETF ownership held either by funds linked to the S&P 600 or those focused on dividends, activist investors risk upsetting the apple cart by doing something that loses one faction or the other. Cutting the dividend to raise capital will alienate one large group of shareholders who are only interested in income, not the ability to continue paying it going forward. But allowing the situation to continue as is will likely lead to more losses and eventual banishment from the S&P 600. Frankly, the only decision left is which painful future to embrace.
My advice -- wait until news after E3 and let it tank a bit more. This will happen after the Google Stadia conference. The market understands that is a headwind for Gamestop, and will react sensitively.

If it can sustain these lows until next week, you have a great buying opportunity. The stock will recover next year when the next gen releases (and yes, Gamestop will still be alive. anyone that says they are doomed so quickly do not follow financial details).

Two of the major shareholders vied to get seats on the board which they were successful in doing. These were the shareholders that threaten Gamestop in a letter to turn things around "or else". They also have a new permanent CEO in place. FCF is still positive. I didn't get a chance to listen to the call; so I'm not sure what they are doing with the dividend money now -- there's not many ideas for reinvestment that I can see.

Without a doubt -- they knew cutting the dividend would hurt bad, but they went ahead with it anyway. This might be the first step to turning things around. Profits are still steady; the market just doesn't look at them as having a plan for the future, which are right to assume. Once Gamestop finds their niche to overcome the decline in used game sales, it might keep them treading water until they can swim.

Gamestop has a very healthy balance sheet for a company that is not making money.

The franchise is at zero risk of closing right now.

I guarantee you that 90% of the most profitable portion of their customer base (casual gamers, parents/grandparents, people who sign up for PUR just because they are asked, people who buy $55 used games, etc.) do not care about gutted copies.

Just a guess, but won't it bounce back a bit during E3? Microsoft is rumored to be announcing their new console.
Last time Microsoft announced a new console their was a DRM debacle and hysteria. In which would make it worse for gamestop on used game sales.

Big thanks to whoever recommended the console deal. Used it with the mini arcade machines, used my trade smartly, and grabbed some key titles. Got Mario Rpg, Yakuza Kiwami 2, King of Fighters XIV steelbook, Castlevania 3, and a bunch of others for almost half off...

Wow some games actually increased when the "bump" went away. Two I noticed are Fight Night Champion for 360 (10->12) and Minecraft 360 (7->8). I am sure a few other games did the same thing. Very weak. Skyrim Switch was another.
Don't Starve is another one. It was $10 all week until the stealth tank dropped it to $7. Now it's back at $10.

I alerted GS to some of the exploits and people taking advantage of buying games (UFC and NFS) directly from them and trading them back in to take advantage and make money and gain points off of their expense. I also let them know about the hardware loophole where people are buying bargain "hardware" and then getting the 25% off. The posts are already archived along with the user names of the members taking advantage so no need to delete them now.

It's funny how people talk about GS going out of business and what's hurting them but no one even mentions the years of exploits this forum has been doing. I wouldn't be surprised if this forum alone will be the nail in the coffin for the company since if you multiply all of the scams people are pulling here and they've easily been losing hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.
I've never seen a scam promoted from the members on this site before.

Gamestop is great and I'd hate to see them go.

You guys are scamming them and potentially committing fraud.

People on here get their "main" accounts banned and then open up new PUR accounts using false information or someone else's ID information. That is fraud, my friend.

No one's account even got closed down or had their trade in limits reached unless they were doing something shady.
and your point is?

Wah, wah, millennials. Remember the trail of economic annd environmental destruction baby boomers left in their wake? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Whether he's a troll or just comes by his obnoxiousness naturally, it’s gonna feel real good when this guy is banned.

I think it's really hard to make an ethical case for 'abusing' gamestop considering their business model is built on taking advantage of others for money. They literally don't produce anything or really offer a valuable service to society.

I mean they literally have promotions where they promise more credit for trade-ins while tweaking base values so you don't actually get the amounts that they're promoting. That's the essence of malicious advertising.

And their entire pre-owned system is a leech on the games industry, etc.

If I get banned it would put me right up there with other unfairly banned legends like Blackbeard, IATCG, and Dealseeker. Is it any coincidence that once they left this site lost roughly half its traffic? I'm a brand new member but lurked long enough to remember them. I can't wait until they start their own game deals site and don't allow this scummy talk where calling out unethical and fraudulent behavior somehow makes you the bad guy.
lol you think you're a legend?

What a brave, good guy. Forcing stores to destroy things that could have otherwise been enjoyed by people. Flawless ethics, you've clearly thought this out a lot Rorschach.

The point is GS knows about all of your bullshit. For the last several years I've been keeping digital and hard copies of all of the shady bullshit in this thread going on. Remember the thread from summer 2017 where everyone was getting thousands of dollars in trade in credit and taking advantage of that loophole? The mods deleted it, but I still have a digital and hard copy of it on hand. And in July 2017 I sent GS a certified letter and e-mail with proof that people on this site are hurting them financially. Sorry, not sorry. You cost them hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars through the years and are now whining about their stock plummeting. You should all feel some guilt about that because you all had something to do with it.
Good Riddance Gamestop

Man, thank God Gamestop asks for your CAG username while signing up for pro. Are you really this dumb?

so basically you're IATCG
He says the exact same thing every time he shows up for 12 minutes and then gets banned again. He uses the same verbage and makes the same callbacks.

I honestly don't understand how any long-time members don't recognize it's him with his first post every time he comes back. He might as well just recopy his bullet points.
