The Guy Game ... anyone plan on getting or has already?

I'm all about buying controversial games and saving them. You know, just in case they get pulled. Pretty sure it's gonna suck though.
 
I will more than likely get it just to have it. May not play it much if it sucks. I still have other games way better I should play first.
 
It's gotten some surprisingly good reviews that made sure to put it in context.

So if it turns up for $5, sure, what the hell. Seems unlikely though since so many places will simply ignore it. I can't see finding it at TRU, Wal-mart, etc. OTOH, almost sure to become an eBay monster it you do find it cheap.
 
The Ign review said that you might get bored after 4 weeks and never play it again.

I think I'll wait till this gets to the bargin bin. (those are my cheap-ass instincts talking)

bored after 4 weeks? how many games do you honestly have or have you honestly played that haven't gotten boring after 4 days, or 4 hours even? 4 weeks sounds like a good enough time period to me.....

i plan on picking this game up sooner or later, but definitely not until its $20 or less....as for walmart selling it? this was in another thread already because someone was asking for a deal on this game and almost every1 but me was giving the guy a really hard time just because he was supporting such a game....it pissed me off because some ppl on here are assholes and have to yell at anyone and everyone who doesn't do the same exact things that they do....back to walmart...walmart.com is selling the game for $19.82 as a preorder
 
From the review, sounds like that show "Street Smarts". Might be worth looking into. If anything, when my friend and his wife come over, we'll play (I can't stand his wife).

Ahh, the dilemma. Do you get it now for fear of it being pulled or do you wait and hope it shows up on EB for $2.99 (a la BMX XXX)?

I went to Walmart.com and it's no longer available for order. It would have been funny if Walmart was selling a censored version with black bars blocking strategic areas. Can you imagine how many pissed off people there'd be? (Didn't they sell censored CDs?).

Trust, did you order it? You did say you'd get it for $20. And the more important question ... will it have black bars or fuzzy pixelation over certain areas? I can't imagine Walmart selling it for 50% less than everywhere else if there wasn't something going on.
 
I heard there are varying difficulties. By playing one, you start with black bars over the nudity, and then you unlock the pixels over the nudity, and then you unlock the nudity. It's just something I heard, and it could be totally wrong.

I think the MSRP was supposed to be $20 or $30 right off the bat.

I don't think anyone "had to have" this game, or will even consider it until it's 10-15 dollars.

Gamespot gave it a 7.5.... not bad, I think I will pick it up for my buddies bachelor party. I'll trade in a game at Blockbuster and get it for 29.99.
 
Oh, I forgot to answer, I'll be picking this game up today.... I always loved You Don't Know Jack.. throw in boobies, and hell.. why not?

Played it last night my buddy borrowed it from work. I think it not that good. Very cool concept but everyone has to get every question right before the end to get a meter to the red in order to see anything. We tried three times but could only get to fuzzy boobs. First the "Guy Game" logo covers them. Then Fuzzy blur like on howard stern or cops. Then if you get to the Red you see it all. There are only 12 total questions per round and you can't play the same round again. After you try once they lock it until you go through all the games episodes. You can't fast foward through any of the video either.

A Rental for sure. Pick it up in the bargin bin for $5-10.

I question the manhood of the OPM reviewer who would suggest that this with at least a certain reward is not leaps and bounds better than Orphen, the war crime of launch titles.

My thoughts exactly - if it's anywhere near as good as YDKJ then why not pick it up? Just because it has boobs does not automatically make it a sub-par game. Play it before you pass judgement...

I doubt walmart would carry this game anyway.
 
The whole nudity thing is pretty bogus, but I loved the show street smarts and it reminds me of that. Stupid chicks and you have to guess their answers and whether they are right or wrong. I think its pretty fun

You know, coming out right in the same time period as Phantom Brave, Star Ocean, Pikmin 2 and Street Fighter Anniversary Collection can't be that good for the sales of this game. Had they tried to fit it in within the first, second or early third quarter, I have a feeling they might have saw higher sales....
but with 2-3 quality games coming out almost every other week and then every week until Christmas, how can you expect an average to weak game to perform well at all?
 
Chances are the majority of people buying Guy Game won't be considering picking up Pikmen 2, Phantom Brave, or Star Ocean (maybe SF: AC though). It strikes me as a target aimed towards the more casual gamer.
 
because it has no Genre competition. Phantom Brave and Star Ocean have each other to worry about, but there's nothing to directly compare TGG

Actually, if the have the computer, porn is free. This game is ridiculously stupid and if you want to see breasts I recommend looking up stuff on the internet... or getting a girlfriend, though, when you're horny and looking for a girlfriend, that can't be good for anything long term.
 
I am really surprised to see so many people pass judgement without even playing the game. The comments that people "should get a girlfriend" are missing the point. It's a game. By that logic people who play GTA should get a gun and jack people in real life. They should put down the controller in Madden and tryout for their favorite football team. Instead of driving 150 mph in Gran Turismo 3, they should do it in their neighborhood. It's odd that video games aren't supposed to have the same freedoms that other forms of media such as TV, movies, and print are allowed.

In GTA and GT3, that is part of the gameplay.

In this case, the gameplay is not the point, it's the nudity.
 
One of the objectives in The Guy Game is to see skin. I don't see how that is any less valid an objective than anything in any other game. Especially since it has the appropriate rating.
 
This game seems to serve 2 purposes some lonely kids substitute for porn or a really decent drinking videogame
 
I haven't even heard about this game before I read this thread and the IGN review. I think I'll get it when it drops in price, I can never get enough party games (or boobs for that matter).
