Almost finished with the first box I got in the Geneon sale!
So far I've finished RoD TV, Last Exile and Gungrave. Currently going through Stellvia.

Wow...that's impressive.

I'm almost finished with AYA - from last year's sale. Going to start ROD next (OAV then TV). The stuff from the sales will last me at least 5 years. :p

Dang. I need to get busy to catch up to you.
ROD TV was terrible. The OVA is much better.
I would disagree quite a bit. I liked both, and I'll admit that the TV series started off slow but it got really good in the second half. I liked how the plot was darker than the OVA, and I felt Yomiko's character had really matured.
Also Joker as the bad guy was awesome.

If you're looking for the constant action of the OVA, then yeah you'll be disappointed. The TV series is a more plot driven show.

Also that a series would be more plot driven and slow.
Nice pic!

The only thing I have looked at so far from the Geneon sale is the first episode of Ikki-Tousen.
That show made my eyes bleed T.T

The fanservice is blinding at times. Although, I gather that isn't what you were referring too.

Hey, has anyone been to Big Lots lately? According to this post there are some DBZ, Lupin, Cowboy Bebop, and Wolf's Rain volumes available on the cheap. It is YMMV though as ewasch Big Lots store may get different stuff.

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3031790&postcount=334

I saw DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho volumes at mine, but I have been looking for Cowboy Bebop 1, 2, 3, and 5. If anyone sees any I'd like to trade or buy them.

damn next week is like the anime finale of Death Note,

then right after that Anime Expo!!

EVERBODY gonna be talkin about it!

we gonna see lots of L cosplayers there, lol.

any1 gonna go?!?!?!

So do I need to have seen the original Gundam series to enjoy Zeta? I've seen 0080, 0083, and 08th MS Team in the main storyline and I liked 08th MS Team the best by far... so given that, would I be able to enjoy Zeta?

Zeta is a direct sequel to the original series. That being said, you could still enjoy it without seeing the original (which I'll call 0079 from now on). Though there obviously would be things you'd miss, or have to look up. Now since you've seen 8th MS Team and 0080 that helps a lot because they deal with the same war as 0079. Also 0083 is a prequel to Zeta, dealing directly with the formation of the Titans. The only things you'd really need to know about would be Amuro, Char, and Newtypes.

So yeah, you'd still like it. Though I'd advise checking out 0079. Zeta is the best of the Gundam series, and 0079 is VERY close to it in greatness. Not to mention you should watch 0079, Zeta and Char's Counterattack to see the greatest rivalry of all time. Char and Amuro.

Not really, the importance of a few scenes would be completely lost on you but it isn't enough to effect the entire show. Personally though having seen both I would see 0079 first anyway, I enjoyed it much more then Zeta, Amuro's progression was handled better and the rivalry between he and Char was the archetype for damn near every gundan series since.

MSG is nice to have seen but not entirely essential to Zeta. 08th, 0080 and 0083 are all retcons anyway (0083 continuity? what?) and don't really factor that much into Zeta. Besides, Zeta's an eight-years-after affair, making it not entirely necessary to enjoy. You just need the basic idea of what happened in the OYW.

speed grapher is messed up. I had a bunch of points leftover from a free XBL card so I got a bunch of eps. they're dubbed with no option for subs :bomb: dunno why I expected there to be both...

it's equally dumb and entertaining at the same time I guess. It's hilarious how generic the rich guys are in the show. any time they screw someone over, they have to announce how rich people can buy or sell other people, money controls the city, etc.

How far into the show are you? I really liked it... subtitled. I know that for the first couple of episodes, it's just about rich people being dicks, but it does change.

I think i'm on the 4th episode. it's already diverging into the realm of weird shit...I hope it doesn't turn into a straight up action show :(

I'm happy to say it's not censored though, to my surprise. unless there's something worse than bodies exploding and lesbo muffdiving that they're cutting out

Speaking of Death Note, I'm holding of on last week's until the next one comes out. I'll watch them back to back. Also, for those who watched last week's, who had the best subs?

Gahn--bustahhhh!!

the last 5 episodes of the 1st series were really, really good. I almost gave up after the first ep :)

but they can go to hell if they think I'm paying full price for 2 episodes on 1 dvd :)

R.O.D. OVA and R.O.D. the TV Volume 1 just showed up. I'll check them out sometime this week.
Damn it, would someone put the Prince of Tennis OVA 2 up? I'm dying for the fight with Shitenhoujii... xD
The Nationals episode 2? Also, have you been reading the manga? It's been super exciting.

Not episode 2, OVA 2... the first 13 are done, the second OVA is being made. They just released the first two eps...

And yeah, I've been reading the manga... Gah, Tezuka make super Zone !!1s
And no dub.

Seeing as how he was annoyed Speed Grapher on XBL didn't have subs, I doubt he cares about a crappy dub...

mmmmm.... finally bought Twelve Kingdoms now that it's dirt cheap. Well... at least, I ordered it. It's on the way so hopefully I can watch the show this week. After hearing how ridiculously good it is, I'm kinda surprised it took me so long to buy it...

You're right, Twelve Kingdoms is damn good. It really is too bad it never got finished nor does it look like it ever will be, or at least any time soon. Oh well, I just ended it at episode 39 and it still felt more complete than some series out there.

Although I found the arc between the two main ones to be pretty boring compared to the rest of the show.

Hmm.. I watched it and thought it was fairly boring. I did mange to watch the entire series, but once they moved the focus off Yoko, I stopped caring.

I'm ashamed to admit one of my favorite gundam series is G-Gundam.

This hand of mine is burning red. It's loud roar tells me to grab victory!
Erupting! Burning! Finger!

Life would be so much easier if it was socially acceptable to yell this during stressful situations.

"Ruberia" put out the finale of Death Note, I already knew what was going to happen but part of me was still on the edge of my seat hoping they changed the outcome ;)

yeah, I really enjoyed it on a non-serious level. It's so ridiculous and stereotypical in a enjoyable way IMO.

My mom seems to be getting into anime (thanks to her fiance's kid), and I was wondering what would be a good suggestion for her to look into? I was actually thinking of suggesting Death Note to her, because it seems like the kind of thing she might get into. Plus, it would give me an excuse to finally catch up in DN.

Viz Media will release the first Death Note DVD on November 20th in both a Standard Edition (MSRP $24.98) and in a Limited Collector's Edition (MSRP $39.98), which will come with a figurine of Ryuk, the shinigami. Both editions, which are rated 16+, will contain four original, uncut episodes of the Death Note anime with both English dub and original Japanese (with English subtitles) soundtracks available. The Collector's Edition is limited to 15,000 units in North America.

Viz Media plans to issue new volumes of the Death Note anime on a monthly basis starting in December -- and Collector's Editions of subsequent volumes will also come with limited edition figurines.

I purchased and read the last volume of the manga yesterday. So looking forward to the anime, which I haven't seen yet (I believe I mentioned it before, but I don't watch fansubs).

Can't go wrong with Cowboy Bebop (especially the movie). Cool stuff.

Speaking of moves in anime, which are some of your favorites? Notable? Infamous? Post Youtubes of them if possible.

Gotta say Mikuru Beam is pretty funny.
