The "Kamille stole Char's kick!" anime thread

Oh, is My-Otome good? I haven't quite finished My-Hime yet, but I really like what I've watched. The store I work for has Vol. 1 in stock right now and, like all the Bandai DVDs, it's like $12... so I'm very tempted.
Guess I'll mention it again... Going to have to recommend Gunbuster. Very much in the vein of old super robot shows.
Thanks for the rec on Gunbuster. The robot fights look kinda fun, but the gratuitous boob emphasis was a little offputting. I'll defintely put it on my "to check out" list ( but maybe near the bottom ;P )

I also agree about GaoGaiGar EXSTRIKE, the Yuusha robot series are probably my favorite robot series for being consistent. Every series is different but enough of the same that makes it great. Giant robots kicking ass and it doesnt get too sappy or serious.

As far as DBZ and Naruto and all those mainstream shows. I'm glad that there are tons of people that enjoy them even if I dont. The companies that bring those over are more willing to take a risk and bring more things over if they think they can hit the next big thing.
That means more choices, more chances, and more money to bring over your next favorite anime.

Sometimes fansubs just arent as nice as a clean clear official dvd version.
Let me just say...

HOORAY FOR BLACK LAGOON!

God I am lovin' this show.
I wish it had stayed fun violent adventures in the second season. Unfortunately it goes all dark and isn't nearly as enjoyable as stuff like Roberta v. Revy.
Anyone else watching Le Chevalier D'Eon? A lot better than I thought it would be.
I haven't seen it yet, but I REALLY want to. It just looks incredible. Some of the Newtype articles got me hyped up about it.

The Black Lagoon LE metal case is cool, but I don't know why they had a bonus disc instead of just putting that content on the Vol. 1 disc. Other than some interviews with cast and crew, the bonus disc was pretty bare bones. Anything to make a buck I guess. The case was worth it though.

I'm waiting for more volumes to get released before I get into Chevalier. It looked really, really good from the trailers, and didn't Production IG animate it?

I was going to wait too, but I couldn't >.< And yes, Production IG did animate it.

I also need to check out Black Lagoon...
Finished it quite a while ago, but yeah, it's one of the best new shows I've seen in the past year.

Finished 14 episodes of Twelve Kingdoms and yeah, it's definitely getting better. I mean, I liked it a lot for those 14 episodes, but I've been hearing that it gets better as it goes on, so I'm hopin' that does happen.

I forgot... still hafta watch Eureka Seven Vol. 8... hm...

ROFLES. I youtubed it to see what it looked like, and like half the clips were bouncing. You're right about gunbuster being tame compared to that.

It's a shame since it looked like it could have been great with all the giant robot fighting goodness. At least the robot and vehicle designs were nice looking.
Got my Beck Starter Set today:

It's a very nice art box. I won't be able to watch the DVD until later tonight.
So I picked this up today, watched it, and thought it was great. I was just wondering, for anyone who's seen it already, if I could get some opinions on how the entire series is overall. The first volume was kind of slow, but I really liked the character's a lot. But is the series good enough to warrant me purchasing each volume as they get released?

It's an amazing series. It starts off slowly just introducing characters and band members, but the music portion of the show starts to take over, as you got a glimpse of in the fifth episode.
This is kind of on topic, and I didn't know where else to ask this, but...
Has anyone had any experience with the busou shinki figures like the ones you can buy on konami.com?
The idea sounds cool but I'm curious as to the quality. Do the parts interchange well? Are they well made figures or do they look bad up close?

Sorry, can't help.
Just watched Haibane Renmei for the first time. Was so much better than I thought it would be!
That was one of the final series I was deciding about with my last Genoen order. In the end I passed on it. I kind of wish I didn't now.

Haibane Renmei was by the guy who did Texhnolyze, right? God, Tex was awesome, but for some reason, the most depressing thing I've ever seen.

I whipped up a quick new Revy wallpaper.

I wasn't planning for the gradient to come out like that, but I liked it enough to leave it.

Yeah, it was just a beautiful series. Beautiful in not only the designs but story and characters. Like you I was debating on whether to get it, but I needed a few more DVDs to fill the order so I tossed it in there. So glad I did.

And yes, it was done by Abe. The same guy who did Lain and Texhnolyze, though it's not really like either of those series. Also the music is by the same guy that did the music for Shadow of the Colossus.

Is it really emotional? It seemed like it might be from the trailer.

Very emotional. It's kind of like a slice of life show, which is odd considering the setting, but it works. I cried during the last episode, I'm not ashamed to admit it.

No shame in that. I was tearing up in FMA during the Chimera episode.

More so than Hughes' funeral? I thought that was the real tear-point for FMA. I definitely teared up there, especially when Elicia didn't understand what was going on. That was probably one of the most emotional scenes I've seen in an anime.

I have a tendency to get emotionally attached to shows. Saikano and Gungrave nearly killed me. I was so depressed after watching Saikano I just wanted to sit in my room for days, and never leave.

That being said, I love sad shows!

So, I finally got around to watching the first episode of Elfen Lied and it seemed pretty generic to me. Should I bother watching the rest or move on to Welcome to the NHK (which had a great first episode BTW).

Elfen Lied is kinda weird... people were saying "man, this is cool, but..." for the first three or four episodes, but by the end of the series, people loved it. It really is a fantastic show, but you need to watch more of it... everything that happens builds on stuff that occured earlier in the series.

Chacrana...

Now that I had some time today, I went ahead and added some textures and effects to that Revy wallpaper I made. I'm using that last one now.
