The "Kamille stole Char's kick!" anime thread

Picked up Fighting Spirit: Champion Road at work today for like $16. I fuckin' loved Fighting Spirit, but the end of the series was satisfying enough that I really didn't feel that I needed to see this immediately, so I wanted to wait for a while so it could be a nice thing to watch when I'm bored. So yah. Oh, and for those who don't know already, there's Fighting Spirit box sets coming out and they are cheap. Like $80 for half the series unless I'm mistaken.

I'll probably pick up Black Lagoon Vol. 1 LE next time since that's gonna run me like $20.

I'm watching Fighting Spirit now. I got it in the Geneon sale, so the whole series ran me about $48! It is really good so far. I'm on the 6th DVD, and working my way through it at a brisk pace.

I'm on the first DVD. The show is as awesome as everyone said it would be so far. Great purchase.

Well... okay, I finally bought that first Black Lagoon DVD. The LE. I know it's going to be good, so I'm excited to watch it.

And I watched the Fighting Spirit Champion Road DVD yesterday and it's what you'd expect from the series. Which is great.

Lastly, Guile, if you're already enjoying the show a lot, you're going to be frickin' shocked by how good the rest of the series is. The first DVD made me think the show had potential. The second or third DVD made me a believer, and it just got better from there.

I'm also watching Grenadier. I had been wanting to see that for a long time so I bought it last week from Best Buy. It's pretty interesting for the fanservice during gun reloads if nothing else.

Rushuna reminds me of Vash the Stampede quite a bit. Just finished the first disc.

I got the first disc back when it came out and I thought it was decent, but pretty average overall. Ended up getting rid of that disc though. The figure it came with was pretty cool since it's got the biggest tits imaginable... pretty much.

Anyway, now that Bleach Vol. 5 is out (which I'm prolly gonna pick up today), I'm going to watch through the first arc of the series. I've seen through episode 9 or so on the R2 DVDs that I got, but I'm enjoying the show more now that I understand everything that's happening (can't comprehend quite everything that's happening without subs...) It's good shit. Addictive as hell.

Also, without spoilers, where does Bleach and Naruto start to hit filler or just something really crappy? I started picking up the Naruto boxes as well, though I haven't touched those.

Now I know to definitely skip that show.
Now I know to definitely skip that show.
God, I know what you mean. Vash was the single most annoying character ever. While it would've been funny if he was a goof at times, he's such a little bitch that it ruins the entire show.

:applause:
Bleach around episode 60 or so (skip the bount arc, it blows), Naruto about 135.
The Bount arc officially starts at episode 64 and runs through 109. It's not bad but it's not great.
Now I know to definitely skip that show.
Well, so far she isn't quite as nauseatingly idealistic as Vash. She is idealistic to a point, but I think it is within reason. It's just the fact she is an expert gunwoman and doesn't want to kill. The character is a sweetie, andf she isn't trying to hide her skills in an aura of goofiness like Vash. I need to see the end before I can accurately judge the show, but so far I am enjoying it.

Disc 2 starts off in the redlight district so this could get interesting. I'll leave it at that so as not to spoil something by accident.

Chacrana that Rushuna figure sounds *ahem* awesome.

In the anime, Vash was annoying at times, and he killed a lot of serious moments with that goofy side, i.e. when meryl wanted to follow him and he told her to stay back, then he goes and says "Well, I guess that's all!" :whistle2:s

I did like just about all the other characters in the anime, the Gung-ho guns (Legato as the main bad ass :D), knives, wolfwood, and Milly. I still remember the scene where they're getting drunk and wolfwood tells Milly "You go big girl!"

I started the manga recently, I'm really curious as to what Trigun Maximum contains, grrrr I hate not knowing :bomb:

What I'm interested in is the Trigun Movie that's in preproduction right now

Oh yah, it's a pretty good week for DVDs coz we're getting the first GTO box, Naruto box 4, Higurashi Vol. 2, and the Rumbling Hearts box. I might need to stab a random girl and steal her purse to buy all that! Well, it'll be fun either way.

Onto vol. 3 of Bleach.

Didn't know about the movie. Is it live action or an anime one? Either way, here's hoping it doesn't suck.

As for Trigun Maximum, you'll love it. The Gung-Ho guns are much better than the ones in the anime (in terms of how their characters are developed, not to mention the ones that didn't even get into the anime) and the story is much darker.
Trigun/Trigun Maximum is tied with GTO as my #1 favorite manga.

I would rather get gangraped prison style, than watch Rumbling Hearts. It's home to my most hated character of all time.

I don't have any DVDs to buy until Beck vol. 2 on the 15th.

I've never actually seen Rumbling Hearts, and it's really not the type of show that I'd normally watch. The only reason I'm considering it (and it's definitely not a "ZOMG MUST HAVE NOW" purchase) is because I've heard a ton of rave reviews for it. But yeah, if I do decide to get it, it's going to be after all the important stuff gets finished off... y'know, like Ergo Proxy, Fate/Stay Night, Black Lagoon, etc.

I couldn't stand the second half of that show. I kept waiting for it to improve in vain.

Yeah, don't listen to them. Rumbling Hearts is horrific. It has a character so horribly disgusting you'll want to smash your TV. It's like they took everything wrong with humanity, put it into one character, and then tried to make you sympathize with her.

Fate/Stay Night and Ergo Proxy I'm going to wait for boxes. Both look interesting, but not interesting enough for me to buy them a DVD at a time. I'm currently buying Chevalier D'Eon, Beck, 009-1, Black Lagoon, Haruhi as they come out. Hopefully I can keep it to just those until one of them ends.

Oh yeah, gotta pick up Chevalier. I think there's what... 3 volumes out with the fourth coming out in a month or so? I s'pose it couldn't kill me to start that, especially since it's only 6 volumes AFAIK. I'm buying Haruhi... got the LE for Vol. 1. Need to get Vol. 2 still. And I completely forgot about BECK, but I've never heard a bad word said in regards to that series, so I'm probably gettin' that too. 009-1... I considered it, but I really, really dislike the character designs, so that's completely preventing me from getting it. Well, and the trailer looked a bit too silly.

Hmm... thinking back, FMP: TSR was one of the best series I've ever seen. God, I wanna watch that again already.

Sigh... being online is keeping me from finishing more Bleach.

I have a friend who absolutely hated b/c she couldn't take that kind of an ending to the show, not to mention her similar hate for that same character. Now that I think about it, she did bring everything upon herself and basically forced something that wasn't near the scope of "natural".

I, on the other hand, watched this show by accident, and loved it.
I'm a sucker for stories and this was pretty much a tragic love story when you consider how it all wraps up. Honestly, I kinda skimmed the first episodes but started really paying attention after he arrives late and the incident...*avoids spoiler*
Anyways, I liked the series a lot, mainly because it took a cute story and flipped it upside down, tossed it in the air, and let it hit that ceiling fan .

Basically, if you like an intriguing story with characters you love to hate (I do have some pity/sentiment for her btw), then give it a spin.
I'm an anime-action buff and I liked it surprisingly...a lot. I can't really take cutesy crap when it comes to anime so this was right up my alley I guess.
Oh yea, I enjoyed the shorts at the end of the episodes, especially them trying to wake the girl up from the bed XD

I had to give bleach a rest b/c they entered another filler pack a couple episodes back, and damn, these are actually really boring >.>

Yeah, my friend told me that they hit more filler and it's pretty meh. Which is disappointing. But hey! I just finished episode 9. This shit's great.

I'm not sure if that makes me an anime nub or not, but eh... fuck it.

And yeah, Fumoffu is still composed entirely of win and awesome. Especially the mafuggin' Pony episode.

The thing is I love tragic shows. Especially when it comes to ones like Rumbling Hearts. A lot of my hate comes from the fact that it's a show I SHOULD like. Saikano is my second favorite show of all time. IMO, the most depressing anime out there. After watching that I wanted something else like it, and someone recommended Rumbling Hearts to me. I watched the first 3-4 episodes, and loved it. I was like "I found another show like Saikano!" But then as I watched more I noticed how Mitsuki (that's her name right?) was a horrible human being, yet the show clearly wanted me to sympathize with her. She was a drunk, a whore, she cheated on and verbally abused her boyfriend on a regular basis,
fucks the guy when his current girlfriend is in a coma, and then he still stays with her!! After the show ended I literally got up out of my seat and was yelling at my TV: "He stayed with that whore! He fucking stayed with that whore!?!?

So yeah, I don't like it XD
009-1... I considered it, but I really, really dislike the character designs, so that's completely preventing me from getting it.
Funny thing is I bought it because of the character designs. And yeah, the show is complete cheese.

There's no damn question about that. No matter what I can say about Vash, Wolfwood and his frickin' cross are as awesome as anything can possibly be. And his attitude.

I was wishing the show was about him instead.

Forgot about Beck vol. 2 coming out in just over a week. I'm going to have to pick it up.

As for Trigun, it's one of my favorite shows. I love Vash for the reasons people hate him (being pathetic), as he doesn't live up to what the reputation makes people expect out of the name, at first.

Yea, I think her name is Mitsuki. I was fine with her til' she cheated on him with his best friend, I was like fuuuuuuck. I mean, I saw it coming after he fought off that other guy, but I was hoping he would keep his composure and tell her to back off and go home and stay that way, but noooo >.>
It did suck though when he was with the girl at the beach and they parted ways :/

What I did find out though months ago was that they were re-doing the series. Same characters but different plot and outcome I believe.

Guess I'll give Saikano a look, first time I've actually heard about it.

Hey, btw, there was an anime OVA I wanted to watch, I'm trying to remember the name and I was wondering if it was as good as people say it is. It has to do with three friends, two guys, one girl. War pops up, two guys end up on different sides and something about the girl. From the cover I remember one girl and guy holding instruments I believe. I've been curious about that one for a while.

Yea with Bleach, I still love the first arc the most, it was the coolest thing ever and stayed original during that arc. Also, the animation was really good for the most part in that arc ;)

Fumoffu is the greatest anime comedy I've ever watched, it tops goldenboy in my book, and I LOVE goldenboy, especially the swimming pool scene where he tried to swim, I busted my gut one too many times watching that XD

My favorite episode in Fumoffu would have to be when they have art class outside and Sousuke ends up being the model. Everything that came out of that episode was pure chaos

Hm Death Note is good. The anime is pretty good too, but I really like the art style of the manga. I wish I could draw like that. :whistle2:(

Not quite sure, but I believe that is "The Place Promised In Our Early Days". I watched it a while back and it is a really good story. I cant quite remember all the details, but I can recommend it for a watch. There is a cheap double pack out there with both Place Promised & Voices of a Distant Star. Shouldnt cost you any more than $20 for the set. I havent watched VoaDS yet but i heard good things about it.

But yea, definately watch Saikano, one of the most depressing anime out that i've seen. If you also havent seen it yet, Gungrave is a pretty good contender as well.

Yea, that's it! Guess I'll pick up the double pack then, thanks for the heads up

I bought the whole gungrave series during the rightstuf sale, haven't cracked one volume open yet due to no time :wall:

Anyone pick up Vol. 2 of Haruhi? Just wondering if there are any good deals on it. Also, anyone get the special edition with the bonus broadcast order disc? I'm curious to see if there's anything especially awesome about it, like a 5.1 DD or DTS track, or better subtitles or something.

Not yet. I went to Best Buy when it was released and all their LE vol 2 boxes were dented.

Man, I really want to watch Patlabor 1 and 2 and I've been trying to get myself to buy those boxes that Bandai Visual released, but I can't do it now that the Blu Ray version is on the way. Though I guess it'll work out to be cheaper this way (well... maybe. BV's prices are a bit off...) I know that TV series for the most part won't benefit at all from being put in HD, but it'll be interesting to see how older movies look...

Thinking about Goldenboy made me search for AMV's and I came across one I had never seen before.
It's hilarious, it's perverted, it's Kintaro

And another one to System Of A Down, but once again a warning that it's NSFW:

I got the vol. 2 LE of Haruhi. I just got it off Amazon, which is where I get most my anime. I have the stuff preordered way ahead of time. To be honest I haven't even looked at the broadcast disc yet. I want to watch the whole series in order first.

Well, broadcast order >>>> chronological order. It really should be viewed in that order as well. You should watch it in broadcast first and then go back and watch it chronologically. I remember reading about everyone finding little details back when the fansubs came out. Watching it the other way around doesn't make sense.

Anyway, as soon as you check it out, let me know about the stuff I mentioned before (specifically if the subtitles are different [not likely], if the audio is surround rather than stereo [likely and hopefully], and if there's anything else of note), alright?

Cool. Looks like CN's having a huge Naruto marathon next weekend (starting the 17th), showing all 100 episodes in a row. I'll have to check out some of Saturday and Sunday for Chuunin exams and the last several episodes I've missed recently. They're about to get to the last section of the regular Naruto episodes in the fall, which will be nice to see.

Saw another AMV that was unique in it's own way

It fused an actual music video with anime, I thought it was pretty neat. I LOVE the editing as well, definitely a big plus.

I liked that Haruhi vid too Guile.

Broke down and ordered Naruto boxes 2 and 3. I haven't even opened one yet, but I know I'll like this stuff. A good Shonen Jump series has an appeal that literally nothing else has. I'm gonna check to see if my store got box 4 so I can pick that up at a discount. Then I'll have 52 episodes to marathon. That'll be fun.
