The "Kamille stole Char's kick!" anime thread
Anyone pick up Vol. 2 of Haruhi? Just wondering if there are any good deals on it. Also, anyone get the special edition with the bonus broadcast order disc? I'm curious to see if there's anything especially awesome about it, like a 5.1 DD or DTS track, or better subtitles or something.
Looks like you can answer some of that now, Guile.

Mmmmm mmm. the second and third box for Naruto got here today. I am happy. The fourth should be here shortly. Seriously, I can't watch fansubs after watching the DVDs. Which sucks cause now I gotta wait to see shit after episode 52.

I just started rereading 20th Century Boys, because the ending recently got released. It's amazing how well planned the mangaka has this series. He's hinting at stuff that doesn't happen until much further in the series in volume one that you wouldn't notice unless you reread it as I am.

goddamn that's going to be a lot of dvds for the whole set. :hot:

i fell out of naruto a while ago. did it finish? i stopped a little after 100.
i gotta say though the chuunin(sp?) test eps (~40) were extremely addicting, seeing who were going to get matched up, etc. and of course rock lee in all his glory :bouncy:

i'm almost done with Vision of Escaflowne and i got to say that the "old style detailed" anime action scenes were very awesome, other examples being Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. just the way everything moves and the detail in teh animations... it makes everything feel very dramatic when they swing a sword or whatever.

i def. see the contrast in recent action scenes in stuff like Bleach or FSN, FMA, etc. it still looks good but, everything is "cleaner" i guess you could say. making any sense? :whistle2:#
Up to ep 17 of Gankutsuou, and it just keeps getting better.
One of my favorite anime. Great story and tons of style and class.

I'll have to remember this to spoil shows for you in the future.

meanie

But yeah, especially with newer, nice looking shows that take advantage of surround sound and all that nonsense, the fansubs simply can't compare at all. Yeah, they're free, but I get sooo much more enjoyment outta the DVD versions.

One of my favorite shows as well. Everyone in this thread needs to watch it.

I see a pun. :) Finished it yesterday, very satisfying ending. Left a few too many threads open for my tastes
, like just how did Albert stop Gankutsuou from fully taking over Dantes' body?
, but I would argue this was the best Gonzo show I've seen so far.

And mahou finally released their sub of Hellsing Ultimate 3!

The opening for Lucky Star is kinda... weird. I'm waiting for the series to finish before watching but I decided to go ahead and watch the first episode. So far it reminds me of Azumanga Daioh (which is a good thing).

Anyways I just wanted to link this before I go to bed. How do you embed video into a post? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjE4fi0E0DU

Jeez. The private torrent site i regularly frequent just put up a 1080p version of "A Place Promised in Our Early Days". The PQ is incredible. I wish ADV would get off their asses with the BR releases.

I started watching the Death Note anime. Not too bad, but since ive already read the manga and watched both movies, im wondering if the story is that different (i heard the ending is) to watch all 26 episodes, or just skip to the last few.

Dude, pass me the link for that site if I could possibly get in on that!
That was the OVA I was wanting to watch and now in 1080p?!? Hellz yes, I would like it very mucho ^^b!

Torrentleech is the site i use. Unfortunately right now it seems that registrations & invites are closed for now.

It's 4 gigs rared, so a bit too big for me to put up somewhere. My computer is kinda old, so even with CoreAVC it doesnt like the x264 codec that much (somewhat laggy). I wish PS3/Xbox would add a x264 (mkv) codec. Im sure one of those systems could show it well.

I would love to play this on my PS3. So conversion to MP4 won't work well?

Looks like that Naruto marathon's going on on Cartoon Network. I tried watching it, but after like 2 minutes of the dub, I had to turn it off. Well, and I was kinda uninterested since I'd just seen the episode like 2 days ago. I'm up to like episode 40... maybe a little further... on the DVDs.

Give it more than 2 minutes.

Kakashi's English VA is awesome. To be honest, they all are good. I didn't like Naruto's voice at first, but he grew on me and now I think his VA is really good. I really can't imagine him sounding like anything else.

If he doesn't have blood shooting from his ears at high speeds before then... You really have to be a masochist to enjoy that dub. Moreso than most dubs.

I hate Naruto with every fiber of my being. It's as if a galaxy made up entirely of hate collapsed in on itself forming a black hole of hate. That then proceeded to suck up all the hate in the universe. That's how much hate I have for Naruto. Now multiply that times ten, and that's how much I hate the dubbed version.

Agreed. It's one of the few anime that I could watch either Japanese or English dub and enjoy it greatly.

Edit: Nice. The Chuunin Exam's started.

Hmm... so I was too lazy to put in the next DVD for Naruto, so I figured "hey, might as well see where they are on CN." And... noticed a strange edit. They left the part where Sasuke breaks that guy's arms intact... mostly. But instead of the screen turning red like it does on the DVD, it turns green in the edited version. I'm not quite sure how that makes things less violent but okay. Kinda amusing.

Blood is red and it will ruin our children! Stoopit!

Anybody else noticing the troubles CN's been having with the Naruto marathon? Last night, there were constant pauses for the last few hours of the marathon for the night. Some episodes seemed to have been shortened by the delays as they were trying to mess around with it to get the episodes back on track and on schedule. Today, I noticed that the intro started about a minute early, then I saw it being rewound to the beginning, and then that fence shows up while they fix their mistake.

I hadn't noticed it. I have been watching it off and on. I decided to go into work today so I haven't seen it for the last four hours either. Cartoon Network tends to fuck things up with anime too much for it to be a coincidence IMO.

Is all of this Naruto that's being shown just a ploy until they get new episodes, or did I just miss the new episode last saturday?

It's more of a celebration of getting to 100 episodes. There's a new episode that'll air tomorrow night to end the whole thing.

Yeah, I think it was on within the past few weeks, so the Save Sasuke arc nearly about to start.

Depends on what you're in the mood for. Paprika is a fun-mindfuck while Place Promised is more of a love story.

The japanese GITS & Steamboy Blu-Rays come out this week. I'm sure both will look incredible. Here's hoping to some fansubs as both releases will not include english subs (Sony UK will be releasing Steamboy in January, but thats still a while to wait).

Time to stream it through my 360 and watch it on my 52 in TV in 720p HD .
Waiting for the BR release of Wings of Honnemaise.
That always sounds like a sandwich condiment to me.
Ooh, Blood+ on [adult swim] during the week now? Nice. :)
Yea, I saw that on the schedule last week and was surprised. I refused to watch it though because it was farther into the story than I have gone :/
I hate spoilers :bomb:

Paprika was fucking amazing.
I absolutely love Satoshi Kon. Anyone who liked this movie should also check out Millennium Actress, which is another very creative movie (and it's quite a bit easier to swallow than Paprika, which I can see confusing people quite easily).

So, anyone else here a fan of Satoshi Kon?
I just finished Tokyo Godfathers (easily his most accessible film), and I liked it quite a bit. It opened up slow, but the ending more than made up for it.

I'll be watching Millennium Actress tomorrow night.

Satoshi Kon is my favorite director. Ive seen/own pretty much everything he's done except for World Apartment Horror (if anyone knows where I can find this, i'd appreciate it).

The best thing he's done IMO has to be Paranoia Agent, everytime i watch it (im somewhere around 12 times through the series) i find more and more in it each time. My favorite is the episode where they deal with everyone creating the Maromi anime, that episode was put together so well, the episode in whole is almost like a piece of art.

I'm a fan of his as well. Tokyo Godfathers being my favorite. I have to say though, I didn't care for Paranoia Agent. Tried watching it a few times and couldn't get into it.

I watched Tokyo Godfathers a couple weeks ago. Well... I thought it was oookaaay, but nothing amazing and I certainly wouldn't watch it a second time. I enjoyed it, but not near as much as you guys apparently. Still haven't gotten around to Paranoia Agent, and I've been eying the copy of Millennium Actress that the local Blockbuster has.

Satoshi Kon's pretty good. I love Perfect Blue and Millenium Actress.

but then I felt like Paranoia Agent and Paprika both started out great, then went downhill towards their respective endings...especially the last episodes of PA when everyone went "crazy."

anyway, got GITS:SSS from netflix today.
