The Official Craigslist Finds Thread!

Not gaming related but picked up a box of Lego for 50. A bit overpriced (Would have paid 35 to be honest) but when I was sorting it, I noticed a lot of the pieces looked like they would belong to a set (Several but the baseplates were missing for some so I couldn't build them anyway). Anyways, I sorted through all the bricks and was able to build the Black Falcon's Fortress! Doesn't have every piece but I'd say it's 95 percent complete. I figure I could sell it along with a lot of the Indian pieces so I can buy...more Lego!

Final Fantasy 8 (missing Manual)
Final Fantasy 9
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X-2
Final Fantasy XII Collector's Edition
Chrono Cross
All for $50

Bought a bunch of NES games for $35. Forgot the list of games, but one of them was Tecmo Super Bowl.

I traded the Tecmo Super Bowl and $15 cash for the following:
Kirby All Stars in box
Donkey Kong Country in box
Donkey Kong Country 2 in box
Starfox in box
The Legend of Zelda
Faxanadu

Boxes are in so-so condition.

Later today I am expecting to buy the following Genesis games for $40

POWER RANGERS
BARNEY'S HIDE AND SEEKS

Kind of off topic but there is a New model SNES on craigslist here that comes with hook ups and a controller for the wonderful price of "make an offer". The only thing is that it apparently won't boot up because it was plugged in during a power surge.

My question is would it be worth it to buy it and try and fix it? Not sure what I would have to do for that to happen so any suggestions on that are welcome!

Do you have an extra SNES power supply? it might be that the power surge messed up the plug and the system works, Does it come with any games at all? I wouldnt pay a lot but i would try to get it cheap in case its just the plug

I have a few extra power supplies. Thanks for the suggestion.

Think I am gonna shoot the old $3 offer out and see if she bites. No games, has the controller though.

Got these from a guy on Craigslist a few days ago:
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap
Pokémon Red Version
all for $30.

Was really nice since I'd been searching for Minish Cap for about six months.

Despite recently purchasing a complete in box virtual boy on Ebay last week I saw a listing on craigslist for a virtual boy with 1 game for $40. I went over to the guy's place to check it out and discovered that not only was the included game not Tennis (the original and usual pack-in game), it was Wario Land, but even better was this unit included the ac adapter with it. The bad news though? When he plugged it in, the right eye was glitching (a common problem with virtual boys) so eventually he dropped down to $20. How could I pass on that?

had a decent pickup today. saw a post stating that she had PS1, two controllers and a couple of games for sale with no price. so i emailed/texted her and asked how much she wanted. Initially shes said 30 or 40, ended up talking her down to 20 bucks. half an hour later i was out the door and on the way, luckily it was only a 5 minute drive from my house. well on to the picture.

IMG_20120604_162158.jpg

btw, they'are all complete and in great condition. also, she threw in that Radioshack connector box thingy for free haha.

I had an odd exchange from Craigslist. Some guy responds to my ad from weeks ago stating he had a Genesis lot w32x & CD. He said he had a bunch of games including Toe Jam & Earl and some other cool stuff that I needed. He said he was back in town cleaning out his mother's house and wanted to clear stuff out since he was going to be leaving again in a week. I went to his house to to check out what he had. When I get there he has a bunch of games out. He had a Saturn in box with some games that he didn't mention he had in the emails. So I pick out some of the games to buy. While I was looking through them he suddenly got nostalgic and decided he didn't want to sell some of the games I picked out like Knuckles Chaotix and TJ&E.... Upset by this I ask if the Saturn lot was for sale and for how much. He said he didn't know. I offered $40. His first reaction was to whip out his iPad. I was doomed. From that moment on he kept on referencing ebay prices even though he seemed to understand they were inflated and they involved fees, etc. My only hope was to cherry pick stuff he wouldn't think to look up. While digging through a box I pull out a Mario Game & Watch. He said the thing was old and he didn't know if it worked so he suggested $5 for it, but then though he should console the iPad since it was old... After that he would not budge from $40 because it was rare and "he could easily get it that on ebay." This is what I got for $30.

Christmas Nights I had to haggle tooth and nail to get, once again thanks to his ipad and ebay.

All these boxes are empty, besides their manuals and extras, because the games were back in Detroit. I saw these sitting in a closet. Since he didn't realize he could just sell the boxes without the games I got all these for $10.

What could have been an awesome pick turned out to be a battle won pretty good pick.

I hate people like that. It usually ends up in an argument for me. Props to you for having the resolve to catch the fool slipping. If he wants to be paid eBay prices he should go on eBay and stop wasting your time.

The black falcon flag is the most valuable piece due to its rarity. Hopefully you got it. I still have that castle and its box...

So other than the fact that this includes the yellowed-est (new word?) NES i've ever seen in my life and I'd probably just trash it because there's no way it's worth saving, what should I offer for the rest of this? He's asking $100. I'd probably flip a decent amount of the games.

I have an "old-School" Nintendo for sale. Two working consoles with working connections, two controllers, a gun and 42 games. That's right you pay just over $2 per game and I will give you the consoles and controllers. The games are: Dragon Warrior III, Tetris, Tecmo Bowl, Gauntlet, Gauntlet II, Pac-Man. Mega Man 2, RoboCop, Donkey Kong Classics, Mickey Mousecapade, Gyromite, 3-D World Runner, Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt, Mario 2, Mario 3, Dr. Mario, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Tecmo NBA Basketball, Contra, Galaga, Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, Ninja Gaiden, Final Fantasy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Manhattan Project, Ghosts & Ghouls, The Simpsons Bart VS. The Space Mutants, Hydlide, The Adventures of Bayou Billy, Metroid, Punchout!!, Silver Surfer, The Battle of Olympus, Bases Loaded 3, Winter Games, Batman, Batman: Return of the Joker, Major League Baseball.

Looks more like they painted it "gold" - no idea what it would all be worth... seems like a decent deal though.

Damn, I hope you already picked that up given the bundle is pictured with a top loader besides the yellowed toaster. I'd try for $80 but even at $100 that's a good deal given the top loader and some of the games.

Heh, I had no idea the top loaders were worth money (mostly because a few of my friends had them as a kid and anything we had I assumed wasn't rare, haha). Waiting for him to get back to me on it.

He said he's selling it to a guy tomorrow for $100 unless he gets a better offer. I don't know that it's worth the hassle of spending more money and having the possibility of getting it sold under me or getting into a bidding war.

EDIT: Heh, well I offered $120 so we'll see. Can anyone confirm what Tengen cartridge that is? Looks like Tetris to me but I'm not sure. If it is, it makes it that much sweeter.

There's a listing near me for a turbo grafx 16 with a CD attachment, along with a controller, ys books 1 and 2 and bonks adventure for 220. Is it worth the investment from a flippers standpoint?

Just had my best find ever!

Saw an ad where a guy was trying to sell his ps3 collection off because his PS3 "wouldn't turn on anymore". So i texted him and asked if he'd sell the console (it wasn't originally listed in the ad) and I would try to fix it up. I offered 30 bucks and he accepted. So I went and picked it up and after about an hour of tinkering, I got it to fire right up! Turns out the only problem was the contact for the touch sensitive power button was bent under the case, so I took it apart, bent it back and voila! The thing sounds like a fucking lawn mower most of the time, but thats just how most phat ps3s are I guess. A great 30 bucks regardless

Amazing find:

Saw an ad for Zelda 3DS for $45 on CL--thinking it was too high for the game alone, I clicked and found out that he was selling the console. After a few email exchanges, he sounded OK enough that I traveled out about an hour to see him at a grocery store. Plugged in the 3DS and it worked great! Handed over the money and walked out...picked up Mario 3D Land on the way back and the console seems to be working just fantastically. Only problem with it is two deeper, visible scratches on the front...but for $45, who can complain?
Amazon is selling it $10 without the box or manual, what do you think?
I think I'm going to lowball her.

Found a big gameboy advance SP / DS lite bundle.
Black DS Lite, charger, 2 stylus. Chinatown wars, Mariokart DS both with cases. DS lite is very good condition, only wear is some scratches on outside.. considering keeping this one and selling my older white model.

Advance SP, supposedly works, not charged and no charger. When you try and turn it on it blinks red. Came with Advance wars, Zelda link to past/four swords, and mario luigi superstar saga. I think Ill keep superstar saga for myself, I love these mario RPGs. Also considering keeping the advance SP for myself and selling my regular advance.

Also got a lot of gameboy games: Pokemon red, blue, yellow, pinball. Donkey kong country, topgear pocket, GTA 2, pacman special color edition, pocket bomberman, mickeys speedway usa, rocket power gettin air, driver, game and watch gallery 2, kirbys dreamland, and kirbys tilt n tumble.

I already sold pokemon blue for $19 and kirby tilt n tumble for $9

Total for the bundle was 70, I think I could of gotten it for 60 but wanted to give the guy a better deal so gave him what he asked for.

Tetris looks like it's the Nintendo version, top row 2nd in though I could be wrong. Other Tengen possibilities are Guantlet and Pac-Man looking over the list, maybe something else...it looks like Tengen Guantlet to me.

And painted? I personally think that's just the most sun damaged (and possibly smoke damaged) NES I've ever seen. It has that unmistakable "yellowing" tinge of NES and SNES consoles that have seen a hard life, but moreso than any NES I've ever seen (I've seen equal or worse SNES discoloration).

I just picked this up. It's Gauntlet. And the NES is definitely painted. It actually doesn't look half bad in person, but I don't know that I'll hang on to it.

Most of the cartridges look pretty good but could use a little cleaning, as could the toploader. What's the best way to go about cleaning those? (The actual cartridge itself, I know how to clean the contacts.) Would something like Windex work fine?

Best way to clean them is by sending them to me :lol::lol:, at least the Dragon Warrior 3.

Okay to clean the carts themselves, I use Goo Gone or rubbing alcohol, as well as Mr. Clean cleaning pads (mild abrasive surface) as necessary, sometimes combining the two if necessary. Hell if they're just slightly dirty, I might just use a soft cloth/paper towel/tissues that have been slightly dampened. VERY little of anything on the labels though other than a slightly moist wipedown with water, Goo Gone if necessary to remove sticker residue, or Mr. Clean to remove permanent marker though EXTREMELY gently rubbing with that on the labels.

Ugh, that toploader I got has some white paint on the top of it (wtf is with this guy and painting?). What a pain in the ass. Any idea if it's cleanable or if I should just sell as is?

Quality to quantity ratio is way too high in that bundle; I suspect it's a bogus ad particularly given the phone number posted is out of order. Rick roll troll. But you should at least shoot an email to the poster from a throwaway accountant see what the reponse is.

Depends on the type of paint. Everything is removable/soluble by one method or another, of course the key here is to remove it without damaging the top loader. If its a tiny amount, you could use the mr clean eraser pads. If its a lot but comes of relatively easily, you could uses plastic paint spatula.

but even if a console has been painted, and you remove the top layer, sometimes the paint penetrates the original plastic and discolors it.

plus a lot of nintendo hardware had that kind of dimpled, rough texture - magic eraser removes that pretty easily, unfortunately.

today i got this nice find. It was listed for $50. i called the woman and asked her to hold it for me as i could not get there right away. she was like i dont know i have had ppl fall though in the past. so i was like let me call my brother cause he is closer to where she lives, she was cool with that. So my bro goes and picks it up and sends me a text telling me how much stuff it was so he was shocked what all i got for the price. The best part was though the lady did not have change so i got every thing for $45. so what i got was

Black nintendo wii with 2 controllers with motion plus and 2 nunchucks with 6 games. The wii and games still had boxes and manuals

The games where Mario party 8, Wii sports and REsort, Wheel of fortune, Jeopardy, and Mario Bros

3G Vita combo with the 8 GB mem card and free download game for signing up for at&t plus Uncharted and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 for $300. Asked the guy if he would take $250 and he accepted.

Then went and applied for WalMart credit card and bought:

Hot Shots Golf $19.99
Little Deviants $19.99
Mortal Kombat $39.99

And some groceries to get me over $100 to be eligible for that $20 back deal they have for signing up for credit card and spending $100 or more.
So could technically deduct $20 from that $80 spent.....

And Modnation Racers for $1.99 after $10 rewards certificate st best buy.

Got a 3g vita, 8 GB mem card, and 6 games for roughly $320 after taxes and all.

:D

Got this for $20. Mario vs donkey Kong came in an empty Nintendo branded case but everything else was complete and had unused club ninty codes.

I missed the mother load with this guy though. I saw the add a day after he posted and all of his $5 super princess peach, luigis mansion, etc. Had already been claimed.

Picked up an epic lot of boxed SNES games tonight for $50.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Breath of Fire II, Soul Blazer
Super Metroid, Lagoon, Ys III: Wanderers from Ys
Super Castlevania IV, The 7th Saga

TMNT 4: Turtles in Time, Super Star Wars, Super Ghouls n' Ghosts
Final Fight, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, NHL 93-96

They all include cartridges and manuals. Some have posters / maps too. Only thing is they don't have the white inner box; if they did the outer boxes would probably be a bit nicer but honestly, they ain't too bad. I'm just thrilled to have 'em. I'm thinking about ordering some of these - I know they're reproductions but they're pretty cheap and if they help keep the boxes rigid they could be worth it. Even the more flattened boxes come out looking quite a bit nicer with the inner box in there.

The nice fellow I bought them from said he found the boxes but not the carts for Zelda:LTTP and Chrono Trigger. I'd have bought even the empty boxes if he had brought them...hopefully the games turn up though.

Turtles IV deserves to be in the awesome pile!

Haha, yeah. I usually do split my big score photos into 'the best' and 'the rest' though. I could've cherry picked but it was easier to just take everything this time.
