Previous threads:
Target clearance is YMMV, ya dig! Games may not even be on clearance at your store, or they may be higher or lower than what is on this list.

This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items. Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday, but could also occur any day of the week depending on your store's price change team. Price adjustments on clearance are typically not allowed, but some have succeeded or have been able to do as return and rebuy.

Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." Also, note that, typically, games will drop three times-- from 30%, 50%, then to the final drop of 75% off of the original price. Some people, however, have seen further drops up to 85%.

When games are marked down, the price change team typically find the game and scan it with their PDA/LRT to intiate the price change. However, in the case that they cannot find the game, they will either choose to not drop the price further or process the price change anyway, figuring that the game is somewhere in the store.

When posting deals, please include game, system, price, city, state and DCPI #

For example:
Debbie Does Skywalker, Xbox 360, $4.98
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
123-45-6789

Also, a great help when you're posting deals you've found is to check this post and see if your item's DPCI number is already listed. DPCI stands for Department, Class, Item-- it's Target's version of a SKU. These are a nine digit number that can always be found on your receipt and also on the red clearance tags on the item itself. DPCI numbers are handy to have when you want to check the item's price-- just go over to your scanner and punch in the numbers, if your scanners have keypads. Also, you can give these numbers to team members so they can check the availability of the item easily with their PDA scanners. Please post any DPCI numbers that are not already in the OP-- thanks! This is especially important since some of the DPCI numbers on Target.com start with 241, meaning they cannot be used in-store, and also meaning that I can't get all of the numbers from Target.com.

Here is a fairly easy way to check your local Target's pricing-- often price tags will not be correct. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Database ,Milk.com , or UPC Data and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Thanks to Mephitical for this tool for locating clearance titles, which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

The website for locating clearance titles by their DPCI # is here: Find In Store

Much like the ASIN location website replace the DPCI # at the end of the URL...

(HUGE PROPS TO aj slick FOR GETTING US THIS USEFUL TOOL!!!)

The lowest known price will be posted. The item could be higher or lower at your store. Numbers in purple are DPCI numbers, which can be used to check the prices of items on newer scanners.

The Legend of EL HOARDO as told by Strell:

No cankle too big and no score too small,
The one and only EL HOARDO.

He'll steal your stash - gonna take it all,
That's the one - EL HOARDO.

He's gonna run down all the aisles
and snatch up all the loot,
And he's feeling really confident
in his nipple protection suit!

Awesome sideburns and a dapper mask
He's at your local store,
Gonna clean out everything
And then go back for more!

Who's the guy in the Star Trek shades?
He's the man they call EL HOARDO.

His boots are secretly roller blades,
There he goes! EL HOARDO!

He's got a cape and it's totally sweet,
A flash in red and white,
Calls his fanny pack his utility belt,
He's ready for a discount fight!

You'd never think he could run so fast,
With a gut of giant size,
Asks all the ladies if they'd like a ride
On his Starship Enterprise!

What's that sound comin' down the lane?
It can only be EL HOARDO.

His stubby legs are gonna bring the pain,
Brace yourselves - EL HOARDO!

He packs a sword, it's a replica,
Like Zorro in disguise,
Gonna leave an H scratched on the wall,
Then he'll move those ten ton thighs!

Knows all the price drops all the time,
Has inhalers to survive,
Lives in a basement at his parents house,
At the age of thirty five!

That's the one who got your penny guide,
The stallion called EL HOARDO.

He's got his Rascal parked outside,
That Man-of-Men EL HOARDO.

EL HOOOOOOOARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"You just got...EL HOARDO'D!" __________________

There have been some confirmed reports of La Whoreda, the female counterpart to El Hoardo. She is obviously more rare in the Target environment since she usually focuses her energy to her Avon business, but caution should still be exercised.
All Target clearance is YMMV. It is highly likely that two different Targets even in the same town have different prices. One may have it on clearance at $7.xx and the other may have it at MSRP. Your best bet is to scan it, punch in the DPCI, or bring a printed out barcode of the item you want and scan that.

Also, the DPCI tool you type your zip into isn't 100% accurate. It is possible, and I've had it happen to me, it says available when the item isn't in stock. I hope this helps.
Cool got that part, I guess I'm just confused as to how two copies of Vanquish came up 2 different prices...going back today hopefully I'll find a good deal
ok guys I need a little help here. OP has Left 4 Dead 2 listed at $7.48...using the DCPI tool I entered my zip and can clearly see the word "Available" on my monitor. Left 4 Dead 2 is a pretty popular game and I'm sure I've seen it at the store I'm heading to tomorrow. My question is can I grab any copy of the game for it to ring up that price or am I digging for one with a clearance tag? thnx in advance
I've seen in the past were target will put an item on clearance. It makes it to the 75% mark sells out, they get another shipment in and sell it for MSRP. GT5 Prologue is an example. I have also seen an item go off clearance without a sell out and go back up to MSRP.

Only way is if it had a different UPC.
Example: Last week I saw a ps3 copy of vanquish on the clearance endcap for $7.48. (which i put back like an idiot) Next day its gone so I had the associate to pull one from the case...the game rings up at $19.99! Ive never had an issue finding these games, its just finding them for the right price seems impossible.
Yea this happens sometimes with MSRP drops. Formerly clearance games get picked back up for $19.99 price point endcaps and such.

Also, the pspgo is clearanced at my stores at 15% as well. They left them in the home location for now. We'll see if any make it much lower.

Argh...this is frustrating. L4D2 was $29.99 at the store and I swear if I see one more copy of Monopoly Streets I'm gonna pull my eyes out. The search continues....

Yeah anything more than a few months old(even then you are reaching) is not worth searching for, but would be more of a nice surprise if you stumble upon it.

Gas isn't cheap.

Unless you're doing high volume flips most of the clearance here isn't worth driving much for. Saving $10 and spending $6 in gas is to me a waste of time.
I saw New Carnival Games w/ Wii MotionPlus today. $7.xx down from $29.99.
Unfortunately, I was in a hurry and did not grab the DPCI.
I didn't even know this existed. Quick google search turned up a Gamestop page on it. I wonder if this is worth it/looking for, even if it didn't come with the Wii Motion Plus attachment. Gamerankings didn't seem to like it.

checked out one of the targets near me tonight, didn't find anything but I did get a guy offering me his brand new 3ds for $150.. haha would that have been a good deal? not into handhelds so I declined.

You should have took it and flipped it for 200 on craigslist or something of the sort

How are you guys finding so many clearance games? And what is this clearance endcap I'm hearing of? The only place I see video games at my Target are inside the locked glass case. Am I looking in the wrong area?

Yes. Look at all the endcaps facing the perimeter of the store... that's where all the clearance items are placed. Somewhere near the video games/electronics/other-bordering-department you'll find a clearance endcap containing all the clearance items from those departments. There may be very few or even no games there anyway... but at least if you find it, you know where they should be in the future.

I used to think one of my stores didn't have a clearance section either after one trip. I was walking around the same store a week later and stumbled upon it right in the middle of one of the book aisles. Really odd place for it, but I found some nice clearance games there.

I feel your pain man. I was confused as hell until a month ago. I thought clearance games were the value game section $19.99. But Clearance sections are different each store, most are at the end of the aisle some where near the electronics section. Some are hidden underneath the game shelves. The easiest way to find out is to ask the employees, don't be surprise if they take awhile to find it.

I actually knew the endcaps were where the clearance stuff usually was but I never thought there'd be anything in the electronics section (mainly because there never has been at my Target). Looks like I'm going to the wrong store lol. Last time I was there I walked around the electronics/toys/books department and nothing. The only title on clearance was actually behind the glass case and it was not a good deal (18$ for some skating game) so I said screw it. Either they're not marking their clearanced games and are leaving them in the cases or they just don't believe in offering a CAG a good deal.

I'm thinking there's just nothing at my Target. I checked everywhere. I think I need to expand my radius when driving and go to a different store and hope to pick up something there.

Asking the employees sounds like a horrible idea. I used to work at Target and trust me there's no easy way to search for clearanced inventory. It would be a waste of both your times. I might just ask an employee to scan a couple of games I like behind the glass cases and hope one of them is accidentally on clearance.. doesn't seem like they're leaving any games out on the shelves.

One local store had a copy of :ps3: Truth or Lies ($2.48) and not much else for video games. Maybe a few shovelware DS games.

The other had a :ps3: Bioshock 2 LE (~$17) that looked like they dragged it behind the truck on the way to the store. I still would have bought it if I didn't have it for :360:. Otherwise it was slim pickings.

Well, we finally got hit by the Clearance Asshole returner last night.

I picked up one of the Sony 5.1 stereo systems a few weeks ago that was going on clearance, some people got it for $89 but our Target said it was going to Goodwill at $170 so I decided to buy it. I didn't need another receiver but had been looking for a good deal on an HDMI one and recently found out my receiver had dropped the rear channels.

Anyway, I wasn't looking forward to installing it since it's a good bit of work. Finally opened the box last night to pull out a Sony DVD/VCR combo player with the front bezel spraypainted black.

Target didn't give us our money back yet, they took the product and have to have someone from Assets Protection call us. For a few minutes it almost felt like we were being treated like criminals in the store, even though one of the associates who was there was there the night we bought the product (it had fallen out of the system and they had to look it up manually.)

fucking shit, I hate to lose Target but if I get stuck with this cost I'm afraid I'll have to stop shopping there out of principle. I never thought that I would go in there and not come out with my money, regardless of 'how it looks.' If I were going to scam the store I would have boxed it up and returned it without saying anything, it's well within the return policy.

They clearly did not open the box to examine it when it was returned and the ass. manager admitted as much. The remote was wrapped tightly as well but upon opening turned out to be an old crippled IBM remote.

Did you use a credit card? If you did, I would call the credit card company and explain the situation. They might do a charge back and keep you from dealing with getting dicked around by Target.

My gf paid with a Target Red Card to add to the irony. If push comes to shove I definitely will talk to the bank.

I still think they won't screw a legitimate customer like this but only time will tell at this point. All is not lost though if the Target decides to play hardball I will escalate this quickly. They tried to pretend that 'since three weeks had passed..' that that adds to the suspicion. We could have opened it in the parking lot and walked right back in with a spraypainted VCR combo unit and they would have still had the same suspicion.

Perhaps if you checked your merchandise when it was returned like you were supposed to Target, this wouldn't happen. At this point I want my money back but I also want an apology for my time. It's bullshit that they sold me that and on top of it almost treat my gf and I like criminals upon it's return. It's times like this that I wish Target had a 'Josh of KMart' watching over the board that I could talk to.

You know it was one of those scum at Slick Deals, I'm posting over there if I can't get my money back too.

Anyway, enough downers and back to the awesome clearance (which hasn't been so awesome this summer, especially considering this fiasco.)

FWIW, I'm a member of SD and CAG, as I expect some of you are.

Anyways.... To get this thread back on track, I pickefd up a Duracell Rechargeable Pocket USB charger for 4.98 (75% off). Doubt ill use it much, but when in a jam, might be useful. 057-06-0182.

I would hardly call that whining, I'm just pointing out that it's a bit unnecessary and petty to blame other people because you didn't get a few bucks off of a video game. Some people just need to relax.

But my real question is: Does that make you whining about whining about the whiners?

Unfortunately this does happen and it's kinda sad that you got screwed in the process. In all fairness though, the reason they're probably looking into it is because it could have easily been you who are trying to gain something out of fraud. It's not to say you are, but it would be possible. Hopefully it all checks out though and for future purposes, if you're buying an item that was previously returned, I would open it up and make sure it's all there. The worse that's gonna happen is they tell you that you can't open it but then you find out it's the wrong item and catch em with their pants down.

I've seen stuff like this happen before though. I was working at Target last year and someone went to Guest Services hoping to return a 360 he just bought. The manager I was working with insisted on checking every piece of hardware out and guess what? The serial number on the 360 didn't match the serial number on the box. The guy had bought a new 360 and put a brick 360 in the box hoping to return his non-working one. That is indeed an ass-hole move and we told him to get the hell out of the store. I love it when return fraud jackasses are caught redhanded. They always act so surprised too like "whaaaaaat? How is it possible that a BROKEN 360 is in the box of the NEW 360 I'm trying to return? 8-[ "

Good luck though..

I have nothing against the idea of slickdeals, people go there to share deals with each other (similarly enough to CAG). But as of late, the community there have been really greedy, all for me/fuck you mentality, which ruin it for everybody. It has really gone downhill since before the recession. Anything for a quick buck.

The problem is that it's almost impossible to prove or disprove. I mean how did you PROVE this guy did it? Or did he just turn beat red when you accused him and accepted your invite to vacate the premises?

Like he said though, what IS in his favor is that he went in saying that when he opened it the wrong thing was in the box...if he was really trying to scam them he wouldn't have said a thing. Plus another thing he has on his side is that the manager admitted that they didn't open the box upon the original return.

I'd say he wins this one and if he doesn't the creditcard/bank will probably take care of him.

I just don't like the petty crimes and petty profit talk at SD. It is becoming the culture there for those that share the same interest as CAGs. I've visited their site from the beginning and its too bad to see things there turn to this over the last few years. That's the reason for the hate.

The last thing i want is for that kind of deal discussion to become the culture here. I hope mods prohibit this from taking over CAG. They do mod it but not always.

We proved that he did it because he bought a BRAND NEW Xbox 360 (not a returned one) and returned it the next day saying it didn't work. The brand new 360s have the same serial numbers as the box, so when we checked the serial numbers they didn't match. Even if it was a returned one, the managers at my store make sure the returned items all match and they're the right ones so even that wouldn't be possible. He was trying to play it off like he had no idea or that it wasn't possible but it was written all over his face. The dude got caught trying return fraud.

Yeah, that stuff definitely does happen. If the box looked like it had ever been opened I would have been suspicious, but it didn't. The VCR combo and remote were wrapped tightly in the original wrappings, and they clearly hadn't been checked upon return. Since the item fell out of the system they weren't able to tell if it had been purchased before (but I imagine upon looking deeper into their system they will be able to tell.) My other theory is that an employee did a switch knowing that the item was headed to salvage/goodwill. It would be much harder to execute a switch like that in the store however.

I mentioned the part about consoles to my gf as that is a known scam. To get around this, the box and serial number on a console must now match, and the boxes are made so you can see both serials without opening. This receiver had a s/n on the box too, and it obviously did not match the DVD/VCR combo player. Target never inspected the package because it 'looked unopen.'

I'm still confident that this will work out in our favor, but it's definitely soured me on Target clearance and Target in general at this point. Unfortunate.

I agree wholeheartedly, and there is a few well-known CAGs who engage in cheap tactics just to get cheap products. I am especially in awe of the abuse sites like Amazon get. There's a lot of "Amazon messed up on this and that, I'm gonna call them and raise holy hell until they give me free money". And we are taken aback when we read the Amazon Ban page...

Yeah.. I'm sure there are plenty of employees/managers at other Targets out there that don't check for little things like this so I'm sure it happens all the time. I for one would be really pissed if some employee did a half-assed job at checking a return and I ended up buying a brick instead of a console with no way to prove I'd been scammed.

Also, having worked at a store in the past, I can tell you this much. It's a lot harder than it seems to get away with stuff in the store. There are literally cameras everywhere and it's very hard. There are some blind spots however (which I won't share) but it's still very hard to pull it off, even if it is after store hours when guests leave.

There have been several employees where I worked that were caught trying to steal in these blind spots or in the back stock area. I wouldn't think it's the employees trying to do the ole switcharoo, I think it's just some dick customer who scammed the store and nobody caught on to it, so you got screwed over.

I think you might just want to wait a bit until people on here post more new finds. The sections at my stores that always have them only contain maybe 5 items each. When the stock get's low them move it to another end cap to save space.
