Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Just looked on my Humble Android 4 page to see if they had anything about Waking Mars Steam key (they don't) but realized I have extra Steam keys I never redeemed. They're for:

Cogs
Avadon: The Black Fortress
Swords and Soldiers HD
Crayon Physics Deluxe
Zen Bound 2

Any regulars want them? PM me.
I found Zen Bound 2 both dreadfully dull and frustrating. There are far more relaxing and interesting casual games out there.
I fixed that before you posted, actually. I was originally typing something else, and changed mid-sentence.
I hate when I do that.

To add fuel to the fire, IFK had a really shitty lineup of games for some ridiculous amount like $8 minimum. You can see how well that worked out. They sold what, almost 1500 bundles their last sale? That alone is reason enough for it to be shut down, but instead of bowing out gracefully they decided to throw a bitch-fit.
I hate when I do that.
I saw it right when my page refreshed with the post. I was like, "Oh shit, hope no one saw!"

It's as bad as "USE PROPER GRAMMER!!!!"
Where was IFK caught lying though?
In that postmortem sob story he posted: "He even put me in such a situation he wanted me to go deposit directly to his BOFA account, which is kind of illegal" Perfectly legal in the US, where both GamerX and Biart7 are located.
"TWO websites developed at normal developer rates of $40 an hour for two weeks and beyond," I don't know if he's trying to claim their main site as development costs for their bundle website or what, but the developer was definitely not making 40/hr full time for her work (and honestly whatever they may have been paying her, which to my understand they weren't, was too much).

I could probably pull out more, but honestly not worth the effort.

And they only sold 1500 because they realized that nobody was buying it at 8$ and dropped down to 1$

That, and the fact that the last bundle was up for about three months. It was supposed to last two weeks, but every week they extended the time once more. It was getting more and more pathetic every week.
Wasn't that 75% off in the Autumn sale?
Yup, I thought of buying it then but when I saw how much I had spent already I had to pass lol
Technically, they never state Biart can't have their game in another bundle while the IFK bundle is still live, only not before or "at least two months" after the conclusion. This may seem ridiculous to some, but it is a legitimate legal argument Biart could make.
I don't think it is ridiculous at all after rereading it. If IFK is stupid enough not to have someone proofread the darn contract, they they reap what they sow. And you are right, it is poorly written with things that probably shouldn't be in the contract at all.

You can sit there and say Biart perhaps violated the spirit of the clause, but I don't think that would hold up in court. Given the other problems IFK has, I think they have worse problems to deal with.

Funny, we were just talking about that Euro Truck Simulator this morning and it (rather shockingly imo) got greenlighted.

Dragon's Lair is kind of a duh to the point where it's almost silly Valve made them go through all that Greenlight mess to get it on there. It's a classic.

Speaking of silly on Greenlight, why the hell doesn't Valve just let DTP put up Drakensang for Europe instead of making them go Greenlight. I guess they could say 'We don't consider it Steam material', Oh wait...
snip
The contract that states "at least" is an initial contract. If he had an issue, he shouldn't have signed it like the many developers before and after him as this wasn't the last bundle. I would think initial contracts allow a little bit of leeway with the wording as things hadn't been finalized. This is the contract Biart posted, it no longer has the words "at least" and clearly states that they cannot have their game in another bundle.

I'll admit that I have no schooling in law if it wasn't obvious enough. All of this is based off what I feel should be right, which 9/10 isn't the case. If you breach a contract, why would you care what the rest of it has to say? So yes, I do feel that if you breach it, it should be invalidated which I'm now assuming is incorrect.

I cannot prove the damage as I don't have sales figures. IFK sales had less games than Groupees as well as a higher average price per game. Groupees had $2/2 games where as Depth Hunter and Alien Shooter 2: Conscription were the BTA games for IFK and you had to pay over $5 to receive them. Where would you go if you wanted Depth Hunter? You'd have to ask IFK the rest of those question as I can't explain why they wanted the exclusivity after the bundle ended.
No one ever said IFK was trying to hide anything ANYMORE

On top of that, the IFK guys have been caught lying as well.

These guys obviously don't know what they are doing and are trying to divert attention from their scam with smoke and mirrors.
Uhh....

They certainly seem to have been stringing these devs along for a long time and have been dishonest to their customers about those t-shirts and USB drives. If they can't or haven't produced them - refund the customers. Simple as that.
Are you one of the developers and can prove any of that? I highly doubt anyone with half a brain would simply go "Oh well" and let IFK walk away without inquiring and speaking with IFK about the situation. Are you waiting on those t-shirts or USB drive? Have you not received any word from IFK?

Going bankrupt and trying to pay your debts means they've ripped people off, makes sense to me! I also agree with your idea that even if someone is threatening, blackmailing and spreading libel about you, you should simply pay them the money you owe them. I doubt they'd make up a story saying you tried to pay them off to keep quiet or something.

tl;dr - If you ever get in legal trouble, find dirt on the other party and expose it to online news sites. Hopefully you should get enough people on your bandwagon and divert all the attention away from yourself.

I can't say I knew what a BOFA account was and I thought Biart7 was located on Russia, but I see now they relocated in 2011 to the USA. As for the website development would require you to know the person who did it and would be hearsay unless they can produce a contract or pay stubs.

EDIT: Sorry for typos/grammar errors, I hit back on my mouse and lost my entire post once so this reply was kinda rushed.

GamerX is that you j/k

I'm kind of sad I didn't buy the Orcs Must Die 2 DLC now that I've almost finished the campaign. So much better with Coop!
As a person who owns and purchases simulators I can tell you that the majority are not fun at all in the traditional sense of what a fun game is supposed to be.

A very tiny minority are well made and are fun if you like the subject. Like the Train Simulators tend to be pretty well done. Ship Simulator Extremes is a well done game as well. I even had a bit of fun with Airport Control Simulator, though that's a sim in title only.

The rest are just big awful, train wrecks. I enjoy them in the same way I enjoy watching bad movies. Meaning, I wade through a ton of them, most are just plain awful, but a select few hit that "so bad, but so funny/good" area that I feel it is worth it. For example, I was recently playing Road Works Simulator and was entertained by the awful translation and amazed by the dreadful gameplay. I'm on mission 3 and can't bring myself to spend 10 minutes guiding the world's slowest steam roller over a pixelated mess that is supposed to be asphalt to "fix" the road. This was after it took me about 10 minutes during the first mission to figure out how to use the jackhammer since there is no tutorial whatsoever and the game freezes on me when I enter the "Options" menu.

I finally figured out that in addition to holding down the left mouse button for 10 minutes, I had to wildly flick my mouse in either direction to "angle" the jackhammer into the "ideal" jackhammering position, otherwise nothing happened :)
Fox, I always assumed you played them so you'd be ready in the unlikely event that you were required to operate a streetsweeper.

You know, like learning wilderness survival skills or something.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems to be just about everything a business could do wrong.
I don't think they violated any environmental regulations, and their OSHA paperwork appears to be in order.

I am fine if I don't get a Steam version either.
It was a "free game" offer with recent AMD graphic cards. Supposedly you can find the codes on sale on eBay and the like for fairly cheap if you're willing to take that risk.

Otherwise, it is $38.50 on GetGamesGo (not Steam)

Uh.

Is there any way to reset my Steam language to English without wiping all my browser data?

It's in Russian right now and I don't know the conversion rate for the currency...
I've been playing older games since I had to RMA my 460GTX, and it turns out I'm getting a 560GTX Ti back. Hooray for extending the life of my video card. Nice! =D Out of curiosity, which manufacturer? EVGA?
So, really...are all these simulators at all fun? Farming, Trains, politics?! I've seen these around awhile now and always been like "Seriously?".
It's okay to admit it; we're an all inclusive group here. You want to play Business Presentation Simulator, don't you? ^_~

Yeah, needs a 20% or 25% off coupon to combo with that.

COMBO!

Do you mean the store, changing it back to US prices? If so, click this link: http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=us

If you mean that your client is in Russian, top left menu, next to last option (Settings), third tab, top drop-down menu.

MSI. Disappointing they didn't do cross ship, but the upgrade makes it worth it. And I'm glad I kept an old 7900GS as a backup card.

I am never ever going to sit in front of my computer and play Monopoly. If there's a snowball's chance in hell, it would be on android (past Amazon FAOTD).
The Android version, particularly on a tablet, has this sort of pass it around in a group taking turns in lieu of a physical Monopoly board quality to it. OTOH the Steam version is supposed to have multiplayer where the Android version doesn't.

Personally, I can see myself doing the physical pass around thing more than playing Monopoly on-line with other people.

That said I am a virtual hoarder so if it goes cheap enough I will buy it anyhow.
He should actually hire Peroxide to do his PR. It'd be a hell of a lot better than what he did on his own.
Only if Peroxide doesn't mind not getting paid. Zing!

Edit: Totally missed the "if".
In some steam related news. Steam now carries Monopoly!

Yay I guess?
This looks like the same version they came out with for the Wii / Xbox 360 a few years back. Quite a bit of fun, but not as good as Monopoly Streets, imho. Probably wait for a 75% off sale and throw a couple of bucks at it.

Maybe he is, considering he is doing the same thing over at Steamgifts, with the same half-baked arguments.

The Steam forums have people begging for $1 keys
It looks trashy as hell, is an obvious rip off of the Sims which I already own, is not on Steam and probably has some god awful draconian DRM being that it's published by Focus.

And yet, somehow I still want 7 Sins on sale for $3.75 over at Gamefly.
You mean $3.00

Code: NOV20OFF

The third screenshot looks like it says "Talk about trench cooking"which is an idea that tickles me greatly. "Yup. Dug a long hole, filled it with busted up pallet wood, threw a piece of chain link over the top and cooked this duck l'orange right on that. Anyway, if the small talk is over, whaddya say we hit the mattress?"

I laughed.

Sorry, but I'm not associated with GATT, although I did have one of their moderators say this in reply to a post on another forum.

And due to this Biart7 just lost one of there major distributors as well. Most people...Ignorant people...think GaTT was one person, Nate, no. Original-Gamer just hates nate therefore attack they whole company in a very unprofessional ways. GaTT is not dead or dieing, we are restructuring and with it IFK will be doing something very interesting this week.
But your right peroxide they were just playing with the words.

Could just be some more crap tossing, but there is supposedly history between the writer on Original-Gamer and Nate who I guess is the owner of GATT? I don't really know.
The Steam forums have people begging for $1 keys
He said SteamGifts, not Steam forums.
I'm aware, thanks.
You quoted someone talking about SteamGifts and mention Steam forums? That would make me think otherwise, but I'll believe you. :applause:

By the way, not sure where all these peanut galleries came from with their insults for me, but if you don't want to read the discussion CheapLikeAFox and I had, scroll past it or better yet, here's a link to the ignore list. That way you don't have to see my posts and I won't have to see yours! I'd personally prefer the ignore list option because if you're ignorant enough to bash someone for voicing their opinion, I really don't think I'd be missing out on much.
Part of me really wants Far Cry 3 but I don't wanna spend full retail. Decisions :whistle2:k

I am fine if I don't get a Steam version either.
I think you could probably get a Steam version from Russia for $30ish or less (estimate). I know a guy. The game is region free, I checked cause I'm considering buying it too.

This is why I am glad your back because I would have never seen this game.

Was going to ask Tony for a PM, but Amazon doesn't have it as PCDD ;-)

Here's a couple of reviews from the boxed retail:
